Quote:Indeed.Seriously. If you don't want to RP being at a nightclub where there's no fighting, don't go to a nightclub where there's no fighting. And yeah, it is pretty genre-appropriate; check out Common Grounds, Warren Ellis' run on Stormwatch, Point Blank, or any number of superhero team books for a look at what supers do when they aren't punching each other. Granted, Common Grounds is the only one that has heroes and villains mixing in the same social space, which is a good reason to start there.
Which is why I suggested an alternative spot. But we all came to the conclusions it'd be impractical for a variety of reasons. -
Quote:...what kind of RP do you expect to find in a night club? It's actually kinda boring usually. The RP that goes on there is rather, well... dull. It seems like everyone just RPs small talk and flirting and, well, NOTHING. It doesn't go anywhere. Nothing cool DEVELOPS out of it. At least on a team, we have the mission to discuss, so there is some action involved rather than pointless meandering.
When I first started RPing in Pocket D, I figured It'd be villains and heroes swearing oaths, making pithy statements and becoming arch-enemies or something like that. Villains in a dark corner plotting together. Heroes trying to learn their dastardly plans to stop them. Cursing at one another, making threats, heroes trying to convince villains to give themselves up or go straight... you know, genre-appropriate stuff. As it turns out NOBODY does that.
Instead I find:
Which frankly sounds about as interesting as watching paint dry.
No one RPs superhero/villain comic books in Pocket D. They RP Beverly Hills 90210 with superpowers. -

It is debatable on whether or not Pocket D is a good place to RP.
You want a definite answer?
It's up to you.
You have certain RP standards, some compatibility points. Look into different communities and see what interested you most and what suits your standards most. And Pocket D is one of those communities.
Personally, I think Pocket D is a great place for random, casual RP. It has its ups and downs. But when you roll a new character who doesn't know anyone or anything, best bet is to go to Pocket D and meet some people, and find the poor character some friends to interact with! -

Quote:You don't need to worry about NC Soft losing money. :PIf they are paying the Gm's and they are wasting time checking out non issue things - that is a waste of time and NCNC money.
I'm sure they have actual people devoted to the job of keeping profits up. So relax. -
Quote:Because we all know Comic Sans makes EVERYTHING not serious! :DIf you don't give me access to the character creator right now, I'm going to go pre-order 25 copies of CO! Just out of spite!!!
Just in case anyone thought this was serious...
WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
And yet my physics prof uses the bloody font on every bloody lecture slide. -

Guess what?
The rules apply to you.

I don't think it's wrong if someone reports an arc.
Reporting an arc merely puts a flag on the particular arc.
It's up to the developers and moderators to decide what to do with it.
You can click that report button on any arc you want! -
Quote:*giggles like a little schoolgirl*I'm so desperate for more I-16 previews that I've been scouring the internet for more previews. I've found some here with none other than Positron himself showing them off.

Quote:You cheater! >:Oi spent the last few days defeating hellfrosts for my coldhearted badge and subsequently my demonic badge. They were at my level yet i was in the air a certain distance away thus they could not harm me. (maximum reward {xp, inf and ultimately gladiator/demonic badges}, minimum risk) i had to defeat 200 of them, all were bosses. Is that a farm? Should i get banned?
-
Quote:I do! Cause I actually hunt for them! You know you do like to post a bunch on those Shadow, I just like watching :P
Nothing bugs me more than holier-than-thou players who feel like they are the "hall monitors" of CoH!
Way too many people forget that this is a freakin' game! HAVE FUN, PEOPLE! -
Quote:The problem is farming can never be equated to account termination. By the definition of farming, ALMOST EVERYONE IN THIS GAME WITH A 6 MONTHS VETERAN BADGE IS FARMING ITS CONTENT REGARDLESS OF THE ACTUAL CONTENT, BE IT IN AE OR OTHERWISE.Firstly I don't know how leading a total of 2 PuGs away from the AE in the full duration of 2xp weekend qualifies the statement "I keep foiling AE teams", other than the fact that it reads to me as self-glorification and to seek the exact responses from like-minded people who view such teams with disdain.
And as for the comment made about the devs' "quest" to cut down on farming, they seem to be relying on player reports rather than take the full initiative themselves. If it was such a harrowing issue, they would have long before be proactive in doing so. Furthermore i16 seems to introduce a new feature that has incentive for the playstyle.
So this is how it goes for me. I'll wait for a dev statement on the matter that isn't vague. I'll wait for a definitive ingame motd that declares that farming = ban of account, maybe then the bitter holier-than-thou players can finally get their victory and the repetetive arguments will cease.
Not holding my breath though.
You can't ban someone cause they like doing a repetitive task. Farming is doing something repetitive for better rewards.
Exploiting is different. And the developers of this game have made it clear that exploiting the game in ANY way is against the rules. -
lolwut?

Quote:From Wikipedia:Not me. All boss mission = farm. And there's no echo. <shrug>
--NT
"Gold farming is a general term for an MMORPG activity in which a player attempts to acquire ("farm") items of value which are sold to create stocks of in-game currency ("gold"), usually by exploiting repetitive elements of the game's mechanics."
We don't have 'gold' in CoH, but you get the general idea.
Please use the "equal" sign with more care. -

Personally, if I ever farm every now and then, I'd prefer level 54 bosses. Not cause it's better XP, but cause it's more challenging. And I find challenge fun.
I'd happy give away some of my XP/Minute if it meant I could have some fun while farming!
It's just a beautiful sight when you see a team of well-coordinated players devour armies of purple bosses like they were Rikti Monkies. :P -
Quote:Finally. The moral of the story, kids?Perhaps I have natural charisma or I'm just good at making people think I know what I'm doing, so twice over this weekend I've joined an AE team out of boredom and been handed the star.
Both times I reported the farm, and then tried to look for a decent AE arc... and decided to heck with it, and dragged the team out of the AE to do real missions because they're easier to find. And both teams turned out very well.
Of course it only works if you've got enough people in roughly the same level range and they hand you the star, but most of them just don't seem to realise that it can actually be more convenient to find missions outside of the AE that they can play, and are actually fun.
So, long story short- you want people out of the AE? Stop whining and lead them out.
I accept no responsibility for teams that may be less than receptive to the idea of leaving Atlas.
Changing yourself is easier than changing others.
Doing what you feel is best and guiding others to it is far more effective and productive than making random threads in the forums, cryin' out that AE is destroying CoH, and then bashing anyone who opposes you or calling them ignorant.
Just my 2 cents. -
One thing I'm loving about the issue 16 release is that suddenly it seems the AE doom threads have gone quiet. For now. xD

Quote:I know that. Which is why I'm wondering why it's called WYSIWYG. Because it's nothing close to what the post is going to look like without hitting the preview button. xDWYSIWYG shows you... probably... what the post is going to look like without hitting Preview. What You See Is What You (might) Get
A WYSIWYG environment is something like, say Microsoft Word. Or an HTML editing software like Dreamweaver. Or an actual WYSIWYG forum plugins that are out there, and some of them are really nice. My VG forum has 'em.
But the one CoH has, really doesn't fall under WYSIWYG's definition... -

Quote:If you have the WYSIWYG editor...How do I put a URL in my post but have it show as a signgle word, without typing codes in manually? Under the old system there were two entry fields in the URL entry box.
Eco.
Type what you want. Highlight the word to be linked, and then click the "Insert Link" button. It'll turn the highlighted word/phrase into a link. -
