The Eagle's Claw alternate is just bad.
[/ QUOTE ]
At least it isn't something you'd see in the movie Zohan.
[/ QUOTE ]
So wait, did you just make Zohan a little more rad by saying they were smart enough to steal the rad animation of EC from Cox? -
Yep, confirmed happens with DB/Nin stalker assassins strike as well.

*reads and understands old [censored] Arcanaville ramblings*
Can I has scariness cheezeburger too? -

So I'm supposed to just deal with missions taking 20 minutes longer than usual? Ok then.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ummm... play with people who know how to play??
[/ QUOTE ]
Look, don't bother to hide it, just write "lrn2playnub" and be an open, honest, jerk. -
Okay a Scrapyarder, literally, ran so far away from me inside this mission that they de-agroed from me. =/
-
I don't do this very often, but...
/facepalm -

I'd be the richest player in City of Heroes by hundreds of miles.

Whoa man, I'm not saying you wouldn't or couldn't but don't you think there is a difference between confidence and drink too much of your own cool aide? -

And also, I'd like to see any purchase of 500mil or more flag that account for investigation of RMT. Before you jump into an uproar, if you earned that Inf the honest way, then you have nothing to worry about.

Yes, because treating your customers like criminals is such a fantastic way to keep them subscribed.

Hey, you changed your sig from the History of Responsible Developer Changes in CoX... -
Red side he seems to be actually ripping himself off...? Yeah I think someone bought it for 18 million actually which was still a bargain, afaik.

So last night I was in AP to pay up my SG rent and noticed a costume contest being held under the statute of Atlas. Since the advent of MA, I have made it a point to avoid AP because of the overabundance of spam text scrolling through in the broadcast channel as well as the blind invites that might get through my AE AoE defense shield.
[/ QUOTE ]
There was no reason to wait for AE to avoid AP for its abundance of spam. -
[ QUOTE ]
What I read in that is instant gratification, people tend to forget that when you want the best you have to work hard for it, and these enhancements provide something for people to work hard for.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I dunno, sounds a bit like a puritan work ethic PoV to me, this IS a game and we don't have to work within quite the same rules as the real world, IMO. We have nigh-complete autonomy to set those rules. Then again if we don't follow some of those real world rules we may find ourselves in "matrix 1.0" land with people rebelling from all the lovely wonderfulness.
Edit: Heh, and now I see above that you prefer smarter to harder in some instance. -
The country of Edival?
-
Don't feel bad, I've done the mission numerous times and got stuck just like you did the other day... even though I'd done it the aforementioned numerous times before.

The new boards will:
- enforce minimum standards of spelling, grammar, and civility in discourse.
- the star system will be available but all star settings will be adjusted to reflect the actual value of a discussion.
- trolls will be identified before hitting send. Not only will their posts be filtered out but they will be painted bright blue as they sit at their keyboards.
- housing prices will adjust to reflect actual value, not artificial market fluctuations.
It's really GOOD software.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL but can it stop me from quad posting like a [censored]?
Sorry everyone I just noticed what I did. -
LOL at the people who are all, "No." With no caveats or ground given.
It obviously has had SOME effect. I play on servers besides Virtue and the effect is a bit more noticeable on other servers.
KOed? I don't think so, but it may have given it a terminal disease. zomg doooomamirite? -
[ QUOTE ]
When you report a post to a moderator, you will be able to add a comment to let the moderator know what the problem is. No more need to send an extra PM or announce the problem in the thread and report yourself so that the mod will see what the problem is. Also, it allows multiple reporting of threads/posts so that when a mod gets into work in the morning, they'll head directly to the disastrous thread that got 403 reports first rather than slog through the 20 other reported threads with only one or two reports.
[/ QUOTE ]
Man, that's a rough slog for a forum mod to have to go through, 20 threads, ugh.
[ QUOTE ]
Besides better pruning, they can also.... MERGE threads. That's right, when we start getting 20 threads about when I16 is being released, they can all be merged into one giant SOON thread. People who think their post deserves special attention by being the first in a brand new thread so they get more attention will be forcibly put to the back of the line where they belong, the cutters!
[/ QUOTE ]
Never seen the attraction in merging or the fascination some forumites have with, "WE ALREADY HAVE THIS TOPIC GAH." Most of the AT forums are already low enough traffic that I would do as little as possible to discourage participation.
[ QUOTE ]
Because this forum software is 5 years old. It is also terribly overburdened for the amount of people we have using it (in terms of what it was designed to handle). There's a reason we had to have periodic purges, the database structure of the forums would break if not.
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't FEEL that incredibly obvious from an end user viewpoint and this may be a bit overstated but thus far it is one of the best reasons I've heard, thanks!
[ QUOTE ]
Newer software allows better moderation tools No more mass deletions when one post needs to be pruned.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never cared about this. Although I understand you sometimes can't blank the "trouble-causing post" because it's already been quoted downstream but sometimes a good earth shattering pruning does more to calm things. Sounds like more work for the mods actually, as they will be looked at to prune only the offending post and responses too it while leaving the thread intact and legible. Hmm.
[ QUOTE ]
No more periodic name changing to avoid/confuse your past posting history.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hell yeah, name changes are a pet peeve of mine. Then again I understand that people love to be able to change their name and sometimes need to for a variety of legitimate reasons. The only solution I've ever seen to this was to make it something you have to PM a mod to do for you but we probably have too many users and too much traffic for that here. Loss of functionality is generally bad IMO.
[ QUOTE ]
We will be able to have a more elaborate forum structure (forums with subforums for special topic areas) without getting bogged down in one huge page with a ton of sections.
[/ QUOTE ]
Blargh! How many more friggin' forums could we possibly need? Do we need a Blapper sub forum in the Blaster forum (or does it go in the Scrapper forum? ha) to help subdivide and make more false choice flame wars in the community? Maybe just another pet peeve of mine but I hate when people wander around in posts saying things like "As a Tanker" or "As a Corrupter" I understand the need to have subforums for ATs but I hate that people are so willing to divvy up into teams and cling to positions because of it.
[ QUOTE ]
All of this will happen with a much lower server load when it comes to building pages people request, or adding new material.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, if it's better written and is less of a load on the server. My experience with software has lead me to believe that newer is not always better with regards to this kind of thing. In fact, you usually need some brilliant, nigh-revolutionary, software for this to be the case. I freely admit, I know very little about BB software so maybe our new one IS that!
[ QUOTE ]
Additionally, it will look a lot better, and have more user options when it comes to how things are displayed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Looking better is purely subjective and I'm such a curmudgeon I hope it has a "old forums" skin option. But more options sound good even though you've mentioned we are losing options like name changes I'm sure it will probably be a net gain.
Thanks for the info! How did you come by it? -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Anyone know a lot about message boards? Why are we changing? I assume because you either have a lot more access or perhaps less upkeep. Can anyone post in some layman terms the differences between the board softwares?
Does this mean the star system is going away?
[/ QUOTE ]
I personally would like a system where someone can rate a person and not a thread. Sure, people might get Karma bombed, but it'd be very entertaining to watch.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why are there any ratings and post counts and other dick measuring attributes at all? Dump them all IMO. They are all gameable/abuseable as far as I can tell. People should have to draw their own conclusions. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Although sometimes if you haven't looked at a thread, it will still mark early posts as "read" and plop you somewhere down the page the first time you click on it.
[/ QUOTE ]
If it marks the thread as read before you read it and doesn't drop you at the top of the page when you click on the thread, then someone's added a post since you last refreshed the post list. I assure you, though, it's not random.
[/ QUOTE ]
That might as well be random to those of us experiencing it! It's a pretty huge issue in fast moving threads too.
Wait, how is it doing that NOT just as big an issue as it just randomly throwing us hither and thither, wtf?
I click a large thread I've never read before and it puts me suddenly on page 9 out of 14, because apparently 5 pages of threads have been written since I opened the forums in a new tab and this is business as usual, wai, bwah?
Again though, I don't consider this to be 'ZOMG BUG RUN FOR THE HILLS' but hand waving it away while we are in the process of discussing possible issues during a board migration is kinda crappy. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I only want one thing from the new boards. Everything else is fluff.
When I click on a thread topic... I want to be taken to the first post in that thread. Not tossed somewhere seemingly random and forced to scroll up to find the OP.
That's it. Too much to ask?
Oh and a pony.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, you can do that here. You see those little page numbers that appear below a thread topic? Yeah, if you click the little 1, guess what happens? You get the first page of the thread.
Why software companies have to make software to do the most common sense things for people just boggles my mind. Use a little logic.
The only thing that really lacks on this board system is the Search function, as stated above.
[/ QUOTE ]
Clicking the name of the post should do that IMO and, no, it doesn't take you to the "latest post since you read the thread last" as it frequently just chucks me any old where in threads I've never read before. On the other hand, I don't actually HAVE this complaint, I'm just interested in ascertaining it's validity. I know how to click the "1" to insure I go to the beginning of a new thread.
I'll consider the new forums a failure if they lack any feature we currently have. I don't know whether to count the loss of PMs we have saved as a lack of feature yet, but I'm wary! -
I had rolled up a new thugs MM and I've noticed that Longbow run like crazy if they get shot or burned with a DoT. Obviously the flying longbow are the worst but the LT's get really flighty too. It's obvious to me that this is different than it was a while ago but I'm not sure how long it has been this way TBH.
Edit: Even the boss officers do this. The one I just fought ran around in circles, running away and coming back, never fighting, just burning and getting shot... Makes mobs pretty easy I guess? -
Whatever happened to "protip:" I thought that was funnier!
Recall-Friend-ing your FFG with a Stealth IO is a LONG way to go for stealth, I'm impressed.
Also, why do you start with a subject about /traps and then one line about /traps then jump into a bunch of AR discussion. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
That's not entirely true.
The original Defiance was supposed to alleviate Blaster problems.
Containment was added to help Controllers in the early levels.
And even in Issue 0 Scrappers had a limited form of Critical hits.
In regards to Scrappers, Critical Hits wasn't a formalized inherant until I5 or thereabouts, hence my original statement.
Anyways this thread has made one thing clear
/Regen needs to be nerfed for Scrappers
buffed for Stalkers
and given to Defenders as a new primary
[/ QUOTE ]
Fast Healing - All nearby allies will have their Regeneration rate increased slightly. This power is always on and costs no Endurance.
Reconstruction - Heals a single targeted ally. You cannot use this power to heal yourself. Recharge: Fast
Quick Recovery - All nearby allies will have their Recovery rate increased slightly. This power is always on and costs no Endurance.
Dull Pain - Makes one ally more resistant to pain, effectively increasing your ally's maximum Hit Points for a short time. Dull Pain also grants your ally resistance to Toxic Damage. Recharge: Very Long
Integration - Frees an ally from any Disorient, Hold, Sleep, and Immobilize effects and leaves them resistant to such effects for a good while. Also, grants target a Regeneration bonus. The Protection will improve with multiple applications and as you advance in level, although the Regeneration boost will only apply for the first few applications. Recharge: Fast
Resilience - Resilience gives your ally resistance to Smash and Lethal damage as well as Protection from Disorient effects. You cannot stack Resilience on the same target, however the effect can be improved by another ally using the same power. You cannot use this power on yourself. Recharge: Very Fast
Instant Healing - Instant Healing dramatically increases the healing rate of all nearby heroes for a limited time. This power costs you a lot of Endurance, and it takes a long time to recharge. Recharge: Very Long
Revive - Resurrects a fallen ally with full Hit Points and Endurance. The Resurrected target is left protected from XP Debt for 90 seconds. Recharge: Very Long
Moment of Glory - Dramatically increases an ally's Resistance and Defense to all damage types except Psionics for 15 seconds. Also increases Endurance Recovery and grants Protection from Knock Back, Sleep, Disorient, Immobilization, and Hold effects. Recharge: Very Long

Sold! We'll take it. (Is resilience a big bubble like FF or Sonic?) -
[ QUOTE ]
Funny how he mentions CoH and someone suggests a villian. Do people even read posts?
[/ QUOTE ]
Irony meter... exploding... run!
[ QUOTE ]
Eryq2, thanks for trying to clear things up, but both CoH/V I will play. I should've included that, sorry.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh never mind, phew.
The only part of the request that really throws me off is wanting a "plan b" for bad situations. Generally you need a melee set for "oh [censored]" buttons or, at least, a Nuke to throw.
Traps was brought up, that's a definate "thinking mans" set. Depending on how busy you want to be you can pair it with a blasting set on a blaster/corrupter or go for the Mastermind route. MM's are very busy and tactical (for CoX at least) plus fun IMO. -
[ QUOTE ]
Nop, always been this way. Effects are calculated after interrupt windows, or at activation for powers without interrupts. Hold, knock back, even killing the foe wont stop the effects from landing if the to-hit was successful.
Have been in a few double KOS due to this in the past.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, you are definitely wrong on this one. My Blaster has saved her own [censored] on numerous occasions and from incalculable amount of damage by attrition due to the fact she could often sneak a blow in before an enemy attack could land it's damage portion.
Actually, IIRC, the history on this was that they used to be able to hit you after death, I think about pre issue 2 era? Lots of discussion on the forums lead to fixing this. (Another, possibly not-exactly related things changed around i3 or i4 in that it used to be impossible to "overkill" a creature with single target attacks as well. If you had an you could try to queue the power but it wouldn't fire.)
The "no damage after death" rule stood for a long, long time. Plenty of incidental forum discussions rose up about it with people whining that their last gasp should hit or their rain aoe power should stay if they die etc.
If I had to guess when this rule was reversed, bug or not, I would say, before Anniversary?
Edit: Oops, I see Uberguy said nearly the same thing. Sorry.
Additional Edit: I have been noticing rare server hiccups when two attacks appear to be nigh-simultaneous with one of them dealing a defeat to the other target. It's very rare (and could be coincidence) because it's amazingly difficult to make it truly as simultaneous as can be. I wonder if it was something done to lighten load on the servers that have been suffering with all the AE play? Probably not.
