She was team psychic in the use of Telepathy and Telekinesis. If that's all it takes to make one a copy of a character, there's a lot of copies of Jean Grey out there.

Manti I see as a copy of Batman. Background seems a lot of like, they're both natural origin's taking on enemies way out of their league, from billionair backgrounds with murdered parents.

I have no problems with characters that seem to be copies of established superheroes/villains. One of my favorite comics started out that way (Cyberforce was totally that way at first...then imo it evolved into it's own).

I am hoping for better SSA's in the future, but this one is feeling a bit more like (as I stated) get this change up made to happen. So they're not making it OMG AWESOME, but more LET'S GET IT DONE WITH!

Who was Sister Psyche a blatant copy of?

Manti is the blatant copy of Batman and he's still alive.

    Malaise?

Statesman? He was the Superman type, never would of called him the Superman copy. Or does Super Strength/INV just mean Superman to you?

But to take it from your standpoint, I'm seeing a lot of hate for something really popular.

I, as a player/reader, should not have to invent a second story in order for the first story to become palatable. I shouldn't have to wave my hands and say "Wade did have setbacks but they didn't involve you so you don't know about them." or "Wade did have contingencies and he was forced to use some of them but you don't get to see that he had to do that because it doesn't affect your perspective on the story."

That's the big problem here. Almost everyone who defends the story starts writing their own story to fill in the blanks. Well, the blanks are what I'm complaining about. If I wanted a story full of blanks to fill in, I'd write it myself and tell the story I wanted to tell from start to finish.

This is supposedly the premier super hero team in the world. Instead of working together and having each other's back, they're all working at odds and they have no frigging clue what they're doing most of the time. This is not a team. It's a group of individuals following their individual agendas and behaving like rookies. Frankly, if this is the way that the Freedom Phalanx handles a chain of crises of this magnitude then they deserve to go down in flames like they are currently in the process of doing.
No it's not how the Freedom Phalanx handles a chain of crises.

This is how the writers wrote them to handle them so they could get from Point A to Point B of their own agenda.

No. They couldn't go about it another way, they HAD to go this route, as it was what they decided.

This is no different than those comic book stories you've (ie people in general) have read that are really just about them screwing up and not acting as they would have, so they can complete the story and have it end the way they want.

If you plan on using the ATO enhancements and upgrading them, if you can send the enhancement to your character, upgrade it and send it back.
  8. Well I wouldn't delete if they were 50, but yes, Id totally move to another server or rename and then reroll them up!

In fact I've done it alot!

  10. Why? So when people find their numbers aren't matching with the percentages and the RNG is working against them, they'll still complain?
  11. Isn't this the case of people getting what they want (defined toes) and then complaining about it?

Also, the feet do look terrible!
  12. What I find interresting is all the hate for Cars 2, when it was one of the top 10 biggest movies of 2011.

    Also, gonna see it!

    ^This.

I'd have no problem with it myself.

I even want a capture mission that actually has you captured and in feeling in danger!

There is something *special* about the heroes who *apparently* use nothing but natural means to be superheroic: call it luck, call it Ferris Bueller Syndrome, call it The Jazz. Something makes those people "just work" and its something deep within the way the universe works that creates such people.

The character of John Constantine was said to possess, and claimed to be able to control, a quintessential aspect of the universe called "synchronicity" which allowed him to subconsciously know the right place to be and the right things to do to have a huge impact on the world. Nearly everything he did wasn't ascribable to magic as such: he didn't have magical powers (most of the time) and he rarely used magical forces directly.

In The Books of Magic he shows up to save Tim Hunter and Zatanna from a club full of magical beings that were going to capture or kill Hunter. He shows up and basically tells them he's going to take the two of them and leave, and dares any of them to stop him. Which they all decide not to. When they leave Zatanna tells John that he has no magical powers and any one of them could have killed him easily, and wonders how he did that. John simply says that *is* his power. He says "stop me if you can" and they all run away, because they were all thinking the same thing: if he has the balls to do that, he must be more dangerous than they think. Which is his power: he knew the right thing to say, and it works - for him. It wouldn't for anyone else.

You could argue that riding synchronicity is a natural ability: its definitely not science, mutation, or technology. Its either magical or natural, but here no magical process occurs. John's weapons are sarcasm, bravado, psychology, and a little knowledge about forces beyond his actual control, and with those very mundane weapons he's taken down some of the most powerful beings in his universe.

Somehow, an analogous thing happens in the City of Heroes universe. Some beings armed with a gun and a utility belt of devices take down Cthulu. John Constantine has done it with a knife, some candles, and his middle finder.

Origin of Power implies there's some "thing" that makes this possible, but doesn't elaborate on it. But to be honest, the same conclusion was reachable *before* Origin of Power, so I don't know what it adds either.
Wouldn't all that fall in line with the whims of the writer more than some ability? Like the complaints people have with Batman.

Or does one just say that's Batman's ability to?

But to be more clear about what I said before, I was talking about the justification for not giving Stalkers that set hinged on the set's theme not being in line with the AT's theme. Whether that reason is overturned or not only really defines the pecking order:

The devs said Stalkers may get Titan Weapons ported to them despite what they previously said about it not being 'subtle' or stealthy. Scrappers can get Ninjutsu, a non-thematic set for them, *AFTER* the devs somehow prove they aren't holding such double standards to other ATs.
I don't see how Ninjitsu doesn't fit themetically with Scrappers.

I know, I meant the tier 1 in the secondary is limited to near uselessness

But there are some tier 2 abilities int he secondary I may find useful (all dependent ont he set choosen of course).
  17. Melee ATs, specifically (for me at any rate) Scrappers/Brutes/(and in i22) Stalkers, just have the right mix of survivability and damage and feel more like a comic book superhero/villain.

Blaster I think can get there, if they were just willing to break the cottage rule. Take a power from the secondaries, and give them a armor toggle of some sort to stack with the epic armor toggle, vary it between the sets.

Next, keep Defiance, but increase it to Tier3/Tier2, so you can get some multiple attacks off. It's not quite mez protection, but those two changes (I think anyways) would make Blasters feel tougher and more comic book level without just giving them outright mez protection.

Not to mention some of those Tier 1 abilities just suck to use

There is another problem with Blasters (imo) but I'll get to that problem in a bit.

Dominators can be wicked as seen by many, but they're not the button smasher the melee ATs are, but in my experience with Doms, they can be made to feel quite comic book superhero/villain. Just takes a bit of work.

Corrs/Defenders can get to that level even without mez protection (in my experience with them anyways), my problem with them is the one same problem I have with blasters:

MOST RANGED SETS ARE JUST BORING TO PLAY!

You stand there and shoot stuff in the same stance. :/ Even with the added animations, they were basically just repeated through the same animations in the same sets at times.

This is why I love Dual Pistols, it's animations feel like a melee set in action. Sadly it's ST damage is so sad, no to mention the redraw it causes with some sets, that *Sigh*

And personally I don't want to see the animations changed. I love the animations! Taking a bit off them would likely ruin the set, but they don't want to seem to just up it's damage either. :/

(Note to any devs reading: Giving Time Crawl a way better -Regen ability would fix all my problems with DP )

Trollers, I think it's their early game that really gets people meh to them. They just don't do lots of damage untill late game. But then when built for it, they can really shine.

Which is also maybe some of the problems with why melee ATs overshadow the others. Melee ATs on SOs or basic IOs feel okay to most people. The others it's a waiting game in levels, and then putting some IOs into the mix.

I would have rather rolled MA, but, you know, a complete lack of AoE damage just isn't an option.
Having AS seems to make a big difference. And Stalkers are what? 4th in line for highest damage mod? With Blasters, Doms, and of course Scrappers having higher?

Will depend on dets, if you just mean KM. What was some KM times for Scrappers without interface procs or Musculature Alpha slot?
  19. Are you not taking the ranged attack from Staff Melee? Could put the apoc set in that, and keep Shuriken at it's base slot as just a concept power.
  20. Setup Praetoria with the ability to have a Primal go in undercover and I'd be right back in Praetoria.

Can even have the same basic missions it has now.

The devs might get a bye with that, if the rest of the storyline didn't also have Wade outperforming David Xanatos on his best day.
Considering how people have said "You know, if they read comics, did this and this, all things we the players know of (but you know, not likely to be known of in the CoH world)..." and here goes Wade doing the Xanatos Gambit trope, you complain because he does it better than Xanatos?

Since when was it said, that other characters couldn't out perform the originator of a trope?

Are CoH characters suppossed to be inferior to every other character of fiction because they didn't come first?

Now not saying the story is good or bad. I will say I think they could use some tweaks and I for sure didn't like how they just got rid of Statesman and Sister Psyche.
