Quote:Scrappers are one of my favorite ATs. The only ones that came close (and recently tied with) them was Stalkers, and before Stalker buffs it was purely out of love of the concept were they up there. Is it so wrong to want something even if it is not needed? Man can not live on bread and water alone.
I went over this on the beta boards, and it was pretty much the same posters involved. Scrappers don't need anything, but getting something would be nice as every other AT has seen some form of buff except the scrapper it seems. Yes Scrapper power sets have been adjusted (take regen for example), those are the same sets they share with the other ATs.
I agree with the op, the lines are too blurry right now. The only reason I choose one melee AT over the other at this point is for concept, or a power set. Well, scrappers don't have any exclusive power sets.
I maintain scrappers are the black sheep of the ATs. They even get the shaft when it comes to power proliferation. How long has EM, SS, Ice, and Nin been requested by Scrapper players? What did we get in the last round? Axe, Mace, and EA.
In the past there were excuses passed around about EM. Things like "Energy Transfer would just be too powerful for crits." Now, I see things like "Rage would have to change if scrappers got SS, it would be way OP." BS.
Meh, I don't know why I bother. It is like talking to a brick wall. :/ Yeah scrappers are fine as is, so that is such a great reason not to give them anything else (sarcasm intended). Everyone loves when the scrapper is nerfed, God forbid some kind of buff.
As annoying as Johnny can be, I see where he is coming from. All around him AT's are getting good buffs, and growing in power, and yet the Tank is just kinda stuck. I agree with him, Tanks need a real buff. Not the crap they got in the last adjustment. With AT's starting on either side the Brute does overshadow the Tank.
So that said, I can say, I'm not one of those "Buff my AT because my AT hasnt seen a buff" type of players. Do Scrappers need a buff? Nope. Would I like to see a flat crit rate across enemy types instead of the 5%, 10% they have now? Yes. -

Quote:Actually, I was always for dropping Brutes max resist to 85% and having it so Tankers had the higher resist potential at 90%.Yeah, that's not going to happen.
Accept the fact that the developers want ALL of the ATs to be in danger some of the time.
Just as the developers need to accept that, in light of that previous fact, strictly balancing an AT's damage against a survivability that can be both superfluous in many situations and circumvented in many other situations may not be fair or fun. Especially given that Brutes and Tankers having very comparable survival potential, while Tankers have largely inferior damage potential.
Given that nobody seems to have an issue with Brute survivability either way, it's painfully obvious that it's the Tanker damage cap that needs to give and be increased.

Quote:No. You said people didn't notice the Bruising. I was stating, wasn't Bruising added more to help them on the solid hard targets than the normal rank and file?Well, if you're trying imply that the Tanker's shtick is fighting hard targets, they're not all that good at it compared to the other melee ATs.
And note that taking a beating from hard targets isn't fighting them. If it was, I'd be bankrolling an inanimate slab of concrete as the greatest mixed martial arts fighter in the world.
.
But you do seem to compare Scrappers (and Brutes) Damage/Survival ration to a Tankers based on IO builds.
With SOs, the tanker just comes out ahead on survival. So, we'll go with IO builds.
It takes a lot of IOs for a Scrapper/Brute to get up to what you consider Tanker survivability (nvm that Tankers will always have more HP, and reach higher resists numbers solo, than a Brite or Scrapper can at a consistent level).
Instead of fighting for Tanker buffs for more damage, you might want to go the route of suggesting more options for +DMG in set bonuses, so your tanker who already matches the IOed Scrapper/Brute builds on survivability can work towards building for +DMG instead. -
Quote:Stalkers crit just like Scrappers outside of hide (ie, when not hidden). Stalkers also get an increased chance to crit per every team member within a certain radius of the Stalker.Leo, what part of WITH ASSASSIN'S STRIKE do you not understand? Give it up while you have a chance. You are wrong. Nice editing in using a quote out of context.
You can skip Assassin Strike, never turn on Hide, and your stalker will crit with his/her attacks. -
Quote:ELM and Spines! And from what I hear, Dual Blades isn't to bad in that AOE either.Do any Stalkers have any good AOE options? I seem to remember that maybe Elec Melee gets lightning rod, which seems unfairly sick compared to what other stalkers get (in terms of AOE). My friend made Elec/ for some reason, I havent asked him why he went with Elec/ but as a min/maxer, I assume he picked Elec/ because lf the AOE.
Anyway, I am just wondering if any other sets posess any nice AOE?
Thanks,

Quote:Wasn't Bruising suppossed to be more about the single hard targets than the rank and file? So why would most people notice? Most people don't take on single hard targets solo.Oh, and what's the Tanker's shtick? That they're the worst of the four fighters at fighting?
And before you answer "Bruising", I've met a disturbingly large number of new or returning players, playing Tankers that don't know and couldn't tell it even exists. If your shtick isn't noticeable enough that people even know it's there, that says something.
As to the greater issue we're seeing here:
There's an elephant in the room, and since few have the wontons to say anything, I will.
There's not room enough in the game for four ATs that essentially do the same thing. We don't need four melee ATs. Period.
And if there are any ATs that should be cut, it's the two that are closest to the middle that overlap the most, Scrappers and Brutes, leaving the two remaining extremes (Stalkers and Tankers) distinct and with enough space from each other for comfort.
But it's unlikely the devs would ever do something so extreme. So we're doomed to argue and keep jockeying the four against each other from now until the time the game ends. Well, jockeying three of them since no one but me really gives a damn about Tankers as long as they make consistent farmers and taunt bots.

I'll say it again, since the thread has been started a new!
I'll start back in Praetoria when I can start on primal, but do story arcs in Praetoria! Now, I could say my praetorian started character really is a primal, but the story arcs ruin that a bit, the exiting of Praetoria really does, and the badges do as well.
But give me the chance to go help the resistance or loyalists as a Primal and I'm back over to gold side! -
Johnny, I say this as someone who is not a fan of Brutes...they didn't steal Fury from Tankers. Tankers would of needed to have had Fury first, for it to have been stolen from them.
As for Brutes vs Scrappers, in another thread this was mentioned, and it's something that seems true enough...Brutes who win out over Scrappers are either using a secondary with a damage aura or using Gloom. Gloom is just that good.
Should be noted Scrappers with damage auras narrow the gap on Stalkers.
Now personally I'd love to see Scrappers get a flat 10% Crit rate against all enemies on all attacks, with 1 attack (I'd say the tier 9 myself) having a 20%.
But then I never liked the idea thatthe crit chance changed on level of enemies.
But there's only one true buff Scrappers need. It'd also be a buff to Stalkers/Brutes/Tankers, but it's a buff Scrappers need! It's one they need to implement without causing the players to wait.
That buff is...
MORE SECONDARIES TO CHOOSE FROM!
Yes, I want my Positional Defense/Regeny/SelfHeal/Smashing Resist Defensive Set! ^_^ -

Quote:It's far off, in so much as it's more comedy/action, than the shows drama. Not even remotely interested in seeing this.
It looks to be soooooo far off from the original material, they should have given it a different title.
I felt the same way about "I Robot"... even though I enjoyed that movie, I felt it should have had a different title.
.
That could of been what made it work in it's favor though. And personally I didn't know about the guest appearances (but I wondered if there would be) untill right before I went to the movie and I thought they were great. -
I'd be happy to get hood options that have hair coming out of the side of them

Quote:I quite like the ATO in Fearsome Stare. The proc goes off everytimeSome quick things that comes to my minds with your screenshots:
- Remove the recharge from fireball
- remove the 2 slows from Tar Patch
- Controller ATO in Fearsome Store makes me cry. FS begs you for tohit debuff enhancements. Put the ATOs in the stun
- I left my Soul Absorption and Fade just one slotted, they seem fine with that
- knock protection zephyr into super jump
- If you still need more slots, shadow field works fine with 4basilisk + lockdown proc, TG is fine with 3 slots...
Hope this helpsMy build is a Dark/Time though, so maybe that's a difference.
-
Dark/Time/Fire has turned out to be quite fun. Mix in Time's Defense with Dark's -tohit for lots of survival, two hold patches, 2 ST holds.
Not the damage machine of other builds, but quite fun to play! -
It was funny! I didn't think it'd be all that great when I first saw the trailer, but watched it anyways and found it to be quite fun!
-
While I think it's something that should be free (at the very least to VIPs) and possibly tied to a tier unlock (so free to VIPs and at a certain point for Premiums)...I do know if they made it pay only, I'd pay it.
Doesn't mean I'm for it being that way except under the conditions I mentioned. -
Quote:I like the idea of merging them purely because they're the same level zones as is. Whether it becomes a retcon of the map, or say merging Talos and Founders and IP and TV...less maps is good and keeping the level ranges into those maps is also good!Merging IP and TV is fine - but Talos is on the other side of the city
Of course Croatoa gets a bit in the way when it comes to lvl, but at least with Croatoa I feel the dedicated storyline and not having for what comes down to random contacts, makes it different enough not to warrant it. -
Quote:I tend to do that last one with my namesake, as I don't think any of the Lore pets suit her concept. Destiny I just believe to be her regen effecting her and the AOE aspect of it all is just a game mechanic.I do something similar. I play to concept and only use powers where suitable.
-I only use IOs to the degree that a concept calls for.
-I don't use any Incarnate abilities in regular content.
-Itake Incarnate abilities mainly for the level shifts, since I don't believe Praetorian robots should be strong enough to smack around my level 50 characters.
-I only use the Incarnate abilities suited to my concept.
There are ways to do it, you just have to step down from your demi-god status, lol. Use your second build!
I've also skipped powers inwhich min/maxers suggest taking, but I don't like for various reasons.
Now my Dark/Time Troller however is concept that can finally use the Lore ability while remaining in concept! -
Dark/Time Troller 40-50. PB 1-19.
I was going to focus on another character I want to reroll but still haven't decided on what secondary.
So I helped people level instead by running ITFs, and spent one day oversleeping due to feeling all icky!
The sleep on that day was good though -
Quote:Hmmm..I havent had my isurance go up when such things have happened. But no idea on the dangerous neightborhood part of it.Because the accident still goes on YOUR record. And the fact that you live in such a "dangerous" neighborhood that someone hit-and-runs you is a qualification for jacking up your insurance rates.
I'd think that'd be more of put on the initial price than jacked up even more.
I've turned in a claim on a hit and run without my insurance going up, but that also required the police report stating that it was in fact a hit and run (otherwise my insurance would of gone up).
To VG, sorry to hear it. -
I just hope the wait ends on April 3rd!
Puts it into next month so still really close. Puts it on before Easter weekend sooo some free time is likely for many to level, aaaand really I just have no desire for MM sets. Beast Mastery could be considered the best power set in the game, completely over powered, and I still wouldn't have interrest in a MM set. I have one at 50, the playstyle just isn't for me.
Now Staff Fighting melee types?! OH YEAH! -
My newest Avionetca commission! I love her colors and I love her style! She just may take all my money! ^_^
This is of Spoilsport (my character, to be rerolled into StJ/Something, when I decide on what...50 Spines/DA, and 40ish DM/DA Scrapper versions, but I just havent gotten into those builds!) and Cinder Seer (Fire/MM Blaster) a creation of Emiline White's player!
I think she captured Spoilsport perfectly! Hopefully Cinder's player feels the same way! -
As for updating older content, I'm for it! But then I'm also up for consolodating/removing a few of the blueside maps too!
I'd rather see a much bigger Talos Island that incorporates, Independence Port and Terra Volta, than have the added maps, just so it has less empty maps.
This is the one thing I LOVE about redside. Less maps! I hear some full time redsiders (I admit to being mostly blueside, but that's more of because my love of playing the hero over the villain) complain about less maps, and personally I think it's a PLUS+! -
I still have great fun running some of those TFs!
ITF? Almost always on at least +1 or +2, and when I can get the people into it, love to go +4!
Same with STF!
My love of trying to solo AVs (as it just makes me truely feel the character is on par with my favorite comic book superheroes) also gives me lots of fun! And mind you, that's stuff I try to do without the incarnate abilities outside of possibly the alpha slot (difficulty can be bumped up to have the AV match or beat your level shift, so I worry less about that one).
Finally soloing Silver Mantis, soloing the ITF, to me those were some of the great moments, not to mention the all Scrapper Apex and Tin Mages on Beta with fellow players from the forums!
True, soloing the AVs usually comes down to smashing buttons in order with builds built to do such things, but then all that is what I loved about playing Diablo 2!
Could quite possibly be why I'm one of those vets that still loves to play the game after all these years.
