Personally I think that the new dark powers would have been enough of a break in melee sets to allow for staff to be released ahead of BM. The apparent rush of BM from introduction thru to live does make me wonder if maybe one devs ideas get more attention/preference than some of the others?

As for the release schedule idea, I like the monthly producer's letter that we got last month. Not giving exact release dates, but a general idea of what is coming for the month. Word-of-mouth in game propagation would be more than enough to get the information to non-forum users.
I thought it was less the apparent readiness of BM and more that it would appear most players don't care to play MMs. At least that's my experience with MMs. They seem to be one of the less played ATs, not because of weaknesses, but due to play style.

On top of their "native" +14% toHit, BP and KoV both have foes with -defense, and then have liberal amounts of Psi and Toxic damage, respectively. Dark Armor, for example, will do well against Psi, but not so much Toxic. Electric Armor won't really do well against either unless they're running Power Surge.

Some of the stuff in DA is just bad mojo.
Havign Psi Resist, why would ELA do well against the PSI famage?

For AS, well I frankly feel they kind of went all over the place to boost Stalker but didn't fix the actual problems with the AT. I mean, why did they go and give AS a super crit *AND* give them an enhancement that rehides them? One of the underlying problems with the AT was getting good use of hide. Why not have just rolled that effect (the ATO proc) into a mechanic like current Assassin's Focus then make hidden AS faster and and uninterruptible? Then you basically get the 1-shot chance of 'hide' after building 3 focuses to put you back in hide and then choose what power to follow up with (probably AS since it'd be fast and crit for massive damage). No, you wouldn't be able to simply use AS whenever you wanted (since with no focus, it'd be slow and interruptible) but you'd also be making use of Demoralize whenever you build focus (and use AS with it...not to mention the focus stacks would have a use for other powers besides just AS).

Meh, the way they made Stalkers, it takes practically all emphasis from hide (leaving it a crippled effect), devalues placate and masks it behind a Scrapping mini-game. My point is they could have used just turned a few things around, it not be such a ridiculous buff and be *FAR* more in the AT's style.
Not everyone uses the ATOs and IOs.

So the idea that you can do that, is player choice, as they have to go out and obtain the Hide Proc.

Without the Hide proc in the build, they cant do what is suggested AS into hidden status and release big attack for crit!

All sets got an ATO set. Stalkers allowed them to rehide. I'm not sure I'd count the ATO as a buff to the ATO and rather more of just being an awesome set for Stalkers.

I don't think anyone is against AS being normalized. Inf act, the devs have said that's going to happen. All AS animations are going to be 1 second. So the basic difference between them whenthey get normalized will be the damage types they do.

As for StJ needing scaled back. No. To put it flatly, you're wrong.

StJ doesn't outperform every other Stalker set to the point of needing any changes. It's a top set, no worries there, why, because one of the sets has to be at the top when you put them in a list.

This doesn't mean some sets don't need looked at. Claws for instance. Id put the cone back into Eviserate myself. The problem with Claws is the same problem it's always had...the set itself is built around a +DMG attack, that got removed for Build Up.

Stalkers get Build Up in the place of another ability in the set. That's Stalker playstyle. This will likely hurt some sets in some way.

But for a set it hurts, a set like Staff Fighting comes along and it makes it work! It gets stuck with one stance, but gets the added +DMG of build up, which is likely to make it stronger on Stalkers in terms of damage from just the primary than either Brutes/Scrappers.

But what you seem to be forgetting is it's not just sets like Shield and Fire Armor that help bridge the gaps towards Stalkers now for Brutes/Scrappers. It's any set with a Damage Aura period.

Damage Aura will add to your DPS (roughly about 15-20 if memory serves, but it could be more).

Personally tho, I am hoping that when Stalkers get Fire Armor, they get a Damage Aura that suppresses when hidden and access to Fiery Embrace. They can lose Consume

No nerfs need to happen to any set, other than (and I don't care to call it a nerf myself, since they said from the start they plan to put them all at the same cast time) putting AS animations under one second at 1 second.

But then, that's a buff to those stuck at the 1.67 second time.

Zwill said it wasnt Staff Fighting, then said quoted a movie with "favorite thing ever" which when people saw it was vanity pets, then went WTF.

Like Lothic said, the quote just went over bad.
  6. Now I'm just curious about the so much melee powersets.

Aren't the melee ATs the most common ATs compared to MMs? I;m actually curious to how popular MM is as an AT as well.

Have to wait, have to wait. I understand that. Still doesnt make me though

    More options for staves? Sure!

Sale on Martial Art pack, Imperial Dynasty bundle, and all that other stuff mentioned? No...not really.
  10. I have a question on this...why wouldn't a personal SG with personal SG base, not beable to cover this?
  11. So what they should of done is killed Manticore and kept Sister Psyche alive and let Manti's death evolve SP!
  12. BrandX

    Testers needed

Controller ATO Proc in Fearsome Stare seems to proc everytime I cast.

I hope not all new defense sets are some gimmicky set. There's still some simple straight forward, universal concept sets that can be made! Even if they're created with a concept in mind (like Time Manip which can fit so many other concepts)
  14. Wait..is this something he posted on his facebook?

Also Staff has been on test for 4 months now and atleast 2 months of that it's been pretty much ready with the exception of the sounds.
Well to be fair, we have no idea if the sounds are done or not. That sounds more like a "I dont like the sounds of the set" Than is it really done.

I am not upset by Staff Fighting not being here yet, just disappointed, myself. As for their being a recent new powerset, that is correct, sadly was it not only for an AT I find the most boring to play, it's of a concept I never really cared for.

I am concerned about the fact that the entire AT is all about one attack though....
Roll ELM or StJ and you'll have sets that have the same AOE as the Scrapper/Brute/Tanker version of the set.

Roll ELM and you'll have better ST than the other melee ATs with the powerset

Splitting it is a good plan as well.
I think what we're missing is the build as a whole to make some real advice. The OP may need more S/L defense to even hit the softcap.

But as a general thought when it comes to DB/WP, Id agree on using a combo of Eradication and Crushing Blow's for higher E/N Defense.

I had thought about it, but in the end, I went with the idea that Stalkers are the squishier melee AT as part of their high DPS/Burst Damage.

Solo wise, I find this less of a problem, as outside of a few elemental resists (in matching defense sets) and tier 9 use for some of the sets, reaching the 75% resist cap is already difficult if not impossible.

Also I figured it fit along the line of Higher Resist Cap and More HP to make the melee AT sturdier.
  20. Another week of saving points!

Not that they look bad, but such style of vanity pets just don't fit any of my character concepts.

  23. Is a one day sale (as in today) of Staff Fighting for double the points a bad idea? Come on devs, make a bit more money on a special "Get it early before it's off untill it's official release date" money maker!

MA is effective but it's mostly smashing damage and I remember wanting to throw the Monitor out the window when my Nin/nin encountered a foe that had high resistance to lethal/smashing. (I also think that MA is Tacky but what's wrong with trying it out?)

Dark Melee is awesome but sometimes it does bore me...but it can do so much!

I've always been meaning to make an energy melee toon but I know that it putters behind StJ, MA, Dark Melee and Staff Fighting. I'm going to wait on Staff and StJ *I might not have enough for both sets* I'm going to also play all of these sets On the Test Server to see which one screams out to me. Thanks so much for the info I have some testing to do.
It doesn't putter that far behind!

It may seem it with 2 long animating attacks, but it's DPS potetial is up at the top.
