  1. I like the idea! I actually wish the Scrapper thread kept to just Scrapper times! I'd have kept up with it better

The idea that releasing two sets at the same time would piss off customers seems pretty ironic in this case. I'd say you'd have a lot less upset customers if they had a choice between two powersets at the same time, rather than making a large chunk of your paying customers wait on a set you've dangled in front of them for weeks while trying to get them to spend points on ligers and blessing of the zephyr io's. And if said customer had a desire to buy them both, they'd buy them both regardless of when they were released.

I was very excited initially about this set, but the excitement turned to aggravation as it became clear the set was being held back from release even though it was fully ready to be implemented. At this point, I'm really not sure if I'm going to even buy it now, especially after hearing how mediocre the damage is from shinobi (and he's a guy who knows how to test drive a powerset). I've got a feeling it's another dual pistols, a set that looks nice, but is akin to fighting with spitballs, or in this case, a wet, rolled-up newspaper. So now I'm aggravated and disappointed - I'm guessing that's not what the people who run this game were going for, but that's where I am, and from what I've been reading, I'm not alone.

The reason I complain is because I like this game, and I want the people who run it, to run it intelligently so it sticks around for a while longer. So hopefully, the way this situation was handled was just a singular mistake, and not something that becomes commonplace.
While I'm not sure if the marketing team or whoever in charge of the powerset releases will change their practices, I know I'd much rather see two powersets released at the same time, and have a week of nothing new (maybe just sales instead) than wait.

And while I havent cared for the wait, won't let that stop me from finally being able to play it

This is the most important reason of all!

I don't need any of my names getting ruined because of servers combining. It's bad enough there's names taken by accounts not being played anymore. What if an unplanyed account gets my name?

Also, if the server is to small for you, switch to a higher population server. Either through character xfer, or making a new character.

  6. With them deleting all instances of Sister Psyche, that happened before she was killed off, like her TF, doesn't this mean she and Manticore never got married?

Now go improve Dual Pistols for me!

  8. One for the beefcakes! Suuure, he's pale. Suuure, he's kinda bishi. But look he has a six pack!
  9. Well, with the giant enemies, I'd say a lot of AOE melee attacks feel the small radius.

StJ didnt feel that bad to me in play, but at least for Scrappers, I felt it was pretty even to MA due to the radius size and how the AOE's work.

Which may have been the point.

It's only on Stalkers this becomes a real factor, since MA lacks AOE period, and StJ gets the small Targetted AOE and a cone.
  10. Yes, the best ST DPS for Spines (before the Stalker Buff) in fact used 2 AOEs...

Impale - Ripper - Throw Spines

The animation times on the attacks did well for making it relatively cheap on the amount of +RCH one needed if I recall correctly.

For a Stalker, adding in the new AS, that's over 200 DPS with some IO investment (before the top DPS would be around 120ish, not counting BU and -Resist Proc), and not counting the -Resist Proc in the chain or the use of Build Up, and that doesn't take into account how often Impale would get increased crit chances from the Hide Proc.

Note: Scrapper was getting around 150ish [Edit: from 160ish], without accounting for the -Resist Proc or BU, but throwing in Quills use.

So, yeah...Spines isn't the top set, but it had enough ST DPS going for it imo not to be as bad as many think.

I'm also going with the idea that Impale would be the better attack to follow AS, as it's 100% chance to crit from hide. But Ripper has the better DPA.

Use of Musculature and Reactive, Spines ST DPS is looking to get over 300 DPS.

Destiny, Hybrid and other Incarnate powers only apply to VIPs right? Thankfully VIP/Incarnate content is where most of this unresisted damage is showing up.

I'm willing to wager the average team/league is going to have Leadership buffs, misc other damage buffs, and now in Incarnate content, Hybrid support and the like. I can say for a fact every team I'm on has Call to Justice. I will also wager that they will only add more damage buffing powers (powers that buff everything for that matter) as time goes on. If you care to bet against me on that, just a few weeks ago I was making the same assertion and people said that it was unlikely...and then Hybrid was unveiled. So yeah.

The problem is compared to Tankers, Brutes get more FROM ALL THINGS. Damage buffs, survivability buffs, pretty much everything. They get nearly the same survival potential as Tankers but way more damage potential.

    THAT. ISN'T. FAIR. OR. BALANCED.

And no, that's NOT their "schtick." That's the devs having a quantifiable and irrefutable double standard when it comes to Tankers and Brutes and them saying "f*** tankers" while throwing them under the bus.

    .
If your going to use incarnate abiltiies in your discussion, you should only be using incarnate content.

It was already stated when Incarnate powers were released, they'd trivialize regular content.

Controller: Uh... assuming that an energy font is a pet this is pretty cool.

Corruptor: Meh. Not sure it is worth slotting, but if you have nothing better...

    Dominator: Ditto with controller.

Kheld: Pretty cool. It'll definitely help my kheld while it tanks.

Mastermind: This is the most epic aura I've ever seen in an MM.

Scrapper: Not sure how it works, but it seems like it would be awesome.

Stalker: Meh. You'll need 13 attacks to get buildup to recharge with any regularity, and it seems a lot easier just to maximize buildup's recharge rate anyway if you take the power. This is also obsolete with Kin Melee, which with the other proc you can recharge buildup every time Concentrated Strike is recharged.

SoA: Seems cool. Global damage proc and all.

Tanker: Meh. Most tankers are durable enough. Not sure if the absorption system will be worth it.
All the sets are said slottable at lvl 47 except for the Corr one which said 10. I take it the level 47 ones are when they're catalyzed?

    Some thoughts on your thoughts

    Defender: Agree

Blaster: Agreed! Its something. And if it stays Mag 1 whether catalyzed or not, in an IO build that MIGHT be enough if one builds for defense.

Brute: Disagree. It's desciption makes it sound like any other -Resist proc, that a tanker can already slot. What this does is allow the Brute to slot it in any attack, and not just a -Def or PBAOE attack. So I wouldnt call it superior Bruising, as it doesnt give all attacks -Resist. Will be nice for those builds that already have 2 -Resist Procs slotted though. Like Dual Blade Brutes

Controller: Sounds interresting. I hope the pet has a good animation to it.

Corruptor: People are always trying to keep their blue bar filled, and this will help.

    Dominator: See Controller

Kheldian: If it turns an attack into a decent self heal, it won't be bad. Though it would be limited to one build.

Mastermind: If I continued to play MMs, this would be a must have in my book.

Scrapper: More chance to crit is nice, dont know how it works though. Even if its just +50% to Crit on one attack, that doesnt sound to bad. Depending on how it procs, put it in the highest DPA attack seems like a good idea to me.

Stalker: This just seems good for all Stalkers, but Im starting to wonder if I was wrong on it being more awesome for KM users to double stack BU. While the AOE Defense I'm not sure of, the other bonuses aren't that bad, which means for KM, I'm thinking slot it in CS. AS misses, CS still has a chance to recharge BU as long as it doesn't miss. Or double proc AS, BU - AS - BU - CS - BU - normal chain!

SOA: Gives all attacks a chance to Proc for damage. I just don't see that as bad. The set bonuses might not be needed, but that means you can just slot the proc OR break the set down into pieces as either high level +Enhancement or break it down for just some of the early set bonuses (+2.5% DMG x3!)

Tanker: I think tankers will love this proc, especially when combined with the +Resist Proc. In fact, seeing this Proc with the +Resist Proc, I want to make a new FA Tanker.

I'll have to disagree with that statement. The rage that was against dropping Brute resist cap to 85% in GR beta makes me think it would change gameplay, cause that was a lot of the complaints said in GR beta when it was suggested the first time.

"OH NO! I won't be as survivalable and die all the time now!"

No, I don't think the balance is +4/8 missions. I was using that as the reference because another poster stated many times that since Brutes/Scrappers can run 4/8 solo, that means they're as tough as Tankers.

To which I disagree, because those Brutes/Scrappers running +4/8 content, tend to be running content that they're suited to run at high difficuluty, and not all content.

Take that S/L Softcapped Electric Brute, run +4/8 missions filled with Rularuu. Are you staying alive just as well playing the same way as you are against +4/8 Council?

What about +4/8 /SR Brute against Rularuu?

But if I was to go by personal experience, then...My SS/FA Brute still needed to use heals when softcapped to Fire Damage (and S/L) on 4/8 Fire Farms.

Now that was running them at 4/8 and in my experience, so yes, I think lowering the max resistance would have a effect.

Would this be a factor in all content? Especially with a buff/debuff backing you up? Nope. Will it have an effect though? Yuppers.
  15. Havent the devs already said Bursts 100% crit is a bug, they just havent worried about fixing it yet?

As much as J_B likes to carry on about the caps; the issue doesn't come from the caps. The issue is the level of survivability Brutes can achieve combining with the aggro management tools that they've been given, which allows them to do the job of a Tank, while keeping superior damage.

A brute doesn't need to be at their caps to tank for a team, and they've been doing it since before IOs.

Add to that, the potential to be "Survivable enough", getting to the point where an equally built Tanker's mitigation advantage becomes rather pointless, and you've got my current perspective on the Tank vs Brute topic.
It makes it so, on a full team, a Tanker can still be buffed higher than a Brute on more than just higher hit points.

It gives a more deffinant view of the tanker having a higher peak survival.

Can Brutes still tank 4/8? Yup. Though, the thing that always seems to be forgotten, is that 4/8 tends to be either 1) easy enemies to begin with 2) enemies that factor into the tank/brutes strength.

For example, I've run 4/8 Arachnos and Rularuu. Neither which was an easy cake walk. And that was with WP a well rounded set that gets really impressive with IOs.

Most people who say "I run 4/8" are running specially tailored enemies or picking some of the known easy ones.

Get that 4/8 Knives of vengeance going!

No, it's because people want to keep the distinction of Who's the toughest to who's the highest damage.

I say start calling out for a reduction in Brute Max Resistance by 5%! To help keep Brutes max potential lower than a Tankers.

Exceptions include pure psi, toxic, negative and elemental attacks, but those really don't come up that often.
But it's also easy enough to get those one softcapped as well as S/L/E.

Pick whats fun and go with it! You wont be let down with the new changes. Some enemies will just beable to handle your damage type better than others.
