But TW pays for that. Easier to sustain the end use on Staff than it is on TW.

DPS of TW may be 350 comapred to Staffs 200 (making up numbers here by the way) but if you can't sustain attacking non stop andneed to pause, you're going to lower that 350 top DPS.

Now I'm sure someone has made a build that can sustain TW's DPS and has the awesome survival, but that likely limits one to a specific build.
  2. Or could go with your concept!

Tho, as mentioned, those who have their build at the peak they want them, will tend to go Musculature for Alpha.

It doesn't really add that much to a Stalker for added defense with Nerve and Agility. So if your End Use is golden and you don't need the +RCH to obtain your best DPS, why not go for the most damage! \o/

With DB/WP Scrapper build, Musculature is what I suggested to everyone as BF-Attack Vitals was easy to obtain and maintain.

I think Void is the best to use for melee personally, but that's because it's a PBAOE. But I leave this one to concept. It's on a 2 minutes recharge anyways. So pick the one you like!

Lore is another, pick one and go. None actually fit many of my concepts, so I've started sticking with Vickies for damage and because I like the look of Vickies

Interface, solo wise, I believe the best is Reactive. But if you're not looking to just be the best solo, anyone of them with a chance for more damage is good, and going non Reactive is good if you run Trials, as lots of people have Reactive.

Destiny, as said, lots of ways to do it. Since I don't want to make my build only work in the lvl 50+ Incarnate range, I personally dont find Ageless to be that great. I get the RCH I need and ENDREC I need before then

Though, more +RCH for heavy AOE sets could be quite nice

Generally I prefere Rebirth or Barrier, but I find them useful and concept friendly.

    T3 Musculature
    T4 Reactive
Serpent's Reach > Precise Strike > Assassin's Staff > Sky Splitter. I don't have the recharge to do the, arguably superior Mercurial (With Heel) > Precise > Assassin's > Sky, nor do I really care to.

But yeah, I imagine with a bit more luck, T4 Musculature, and if I can fire off Judgment, I can shave off quite a bit of time.
See, that just doesn't seem like a bad time to me. *shrug* But then I guess I don't really know the top times for the other Primaries

Still haven't gotten both accolades for the +END, but I did tweak my build for a little more +REC (What I get for using my old build which didn't need the extra end recovery...but it also had the accoaldes, soooo, maybe the 12% Regen is better than the 2.5% Rec)
  4. There's nothing wrong with Penny's pose

It's a frigging comic book style piece of artwork!

While I don't care for Penny's face, the face gear or the white leggings of the outfit, it's still quite a great piece!

I hope to see more pieces!
  5. You know...if all the hate for Staff Fighting gets Staff Fighting an increase to 15ft from 10ft in it's PBAOE, I'm willing to start hating Staff Fighting. >_>;;

I think we're forgetting the context. Comicbook universe and all.

That said, it's a game as wll, sets are going to be different. TW is a powerful set, it also has a mechanic in the set that annoys some people, that no matter how powerful the set is, they won't play it because of it.

But remember, one of the things with the pylon soloing threads is having the end recovery to keep it up without inspirations...and Assassin Strike isn't easy on the End Bar.

Hmmm...well then...guess I'll have to see what I can get with some reactive in place! I'd go get a tier 1 musculature, but I really don't want to waste the threads/shards to get something Im only going to use for tier1. Maaaybe...but I don't know.

Was this an issue 1 thing?

In the case of Staff, if you went with a Def secondary it actually helps with end game issues. Trust me, if claws or spines can get it done in the end game, then Staff sure as heck can.
Agility is what I'm leaning towards buuuut Musculature is so tempting!

The best staff attack chain for a non-stalker is Precise-Serpents-Precise-Sky Splitter, which, on a Scrapper, are unenhanced DPAs of 73-63-73-73. The Form of Body damage just can't make up the difference between Staff and the (several) better sets (and, totally separate but also relevant problem, it can't be paired with Shield, which hurts it's position for Scrapper damage comparisons). If you want a more depthy analysis, go look into the Pylon thread.

Stalkers get a much better attack chain for single targets because of Assassin's Strike, but no, 210 DPS isn't impressive for a Stalker anymore.
But you forget that I'm not using the best DPS attacks. So, I'm getting 210 DPS with no assault (leadership pool), not the best chain, and no incarnate abilities.

I'm curious, where do all the other sets sit when it comes to using their best DPS with no incarnate abilities?

This is especially true if you intend to involve other, living people in it. Even for the best of authors, the trap of seeing "your character" as yourself is all too real and decisions regarding this character aren't always as objective as they might seem.

Why am I saying this? Because I honestly feel that none of this would have been news if someone ELSE, pretty much anyone other than Positron, had been promoted to the big cahuna. It could have been BABs, it could have been Miss Liberty. Hell, it could have been Sister Psyche if she were alive. Or it could have been someone brand new. Probably not as young and inexperienced as Penny Yin, but someone of that nature. Having it be Positron, the guy whose name our lead developer is using - the lead developer whose given reason for the change was nothing of not suggestive - become the leader is just not a good decision. Whether or not it's petty (I still think it is, but whatever), it LOOKS petty because it has all the circumstances of it.

It'd be like me getting hired into Paragon Studios and all of the sudden you start seeing Samuel Tow as the most important character in arc after arc. Yeah, whatever argument I might try to make that that's just a character and not my representation, will anyone really believe me, for as long as I've used that name for myself? Because, yeah, Sam actually is a legitimate separate character, the first one I made here.

I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I've actually always been against developers using the names of in-game characters as their online personas. It makes the people using these characters' names seem subjective in their actions and it colours people's perceptions of the characters in turn. I'll bet my left butt cheek the bulk of the hate the Statesman received is Jack Emmert's reputation more than anything else. And I can guarantee that the same will start happening with Positron now, ESPECIALLY in how he's being given preferential treatment.

As far as I'm concerned, developers should keep themselves out of the fiction of their work.
I don't think people would of had this outlook on Positron becoming leader of the Freedom Phalanx, if SSA1, was done better.

Plus, the fact that all the characters killed were created by one dev, so it just looks bad. Especially when you it was popular characters.

Statesman was the face of CoH. Sister Psyche was this well known hero (though, I must say I'm surprised we didn't have thread after thread about how SP was fridged for Manti) to the players, and one I'd likely say was at the top of the favorites list.

I'd go with the whole "personality wasn't built on so it doesnt matter" arguement people are spouting, but they're the same ones spouting love for BABs who's developement is just as much as Statesman, and imo, less than SP.

Plus, I'd like to not see the FP written as idiots. It ruins the story of them being, you know, the top supergroup of the world! Some people may have hated that idea, because they saw their characters/sg as the number one supergroup, but personally, I prefered the idea of the #1 SG being NPCs, cuz as an RPer, everyone saying they're the number one group just comes off as silly.

I like the new look of Penny, I like that she's getting more screen time. But I don't think it needed to be at the cost of SP, especially when we could of killed off some of the others instead.

Maybe this is CoH's way of allowing Manti to hook up with his sidekick?

I wondered if this might be the case with Staff Fighting. Level 50, and haven't ran into any problems yet.

Haven't done serious incarnate mission/trial testing yet, but that's just because I haven't decided on which Alpha to go with.

To figure out one's ST DPS. Also a good way to see how good your END use is. So far I can see my build can sustain it's chain for quite awhile, but it will bottom out, so I can live with it, or improve it more.

For my testing, I'll wait to see what the accolades do for it. as I think that will make up my end use worries.
  16. Putting out 210 DPS on a Staff Stalker, who while IOed out, is not using the best attack string, is a let down? o.O

I can't wait to see what gets changed when it shouldn't have, like how maybe it was Positron who survived a nuclear blast or how it was Positron who was Maria Jenkins' friend all along, or how Independence Port was saved from an invading armada of Positrons.
It's being debated? With the choice of characters to kill off, I thought it was prety obvious.

It doesn't make sense, since the whole arc is not only being removed, when it happened before Statesman's Death, it's being removed to the point they don't want it to look like it ever existed.

Bet people complain about Spider-Man and Spider-Girl getting into poses that most people couldn't get into too
  21. For all the great arcs that may be out there, I found there was so many more, terrible arcs.

Also, teams don't want them to be tough or they quit. Some of the best AE arcs I've ran in, had enemies that just wiped the floor with IO'ed out, solo 4/8 content (though really, those who have the solo 4/8 content generally only solo specific content their build is setup to go against).

There are some nasty enemies one can make in AE!

But a lot of it has to do with the writing. The idea of looking for someone's pet dog, that talks, while it's being chased by ninja dog catchers may work in something like the Tick, it just doesn't work for me in CoH.
  22. I always counted even level as acceptable.

Though, I was much impressed when I was able to solo an AV that was higher level.

I've found Silver Mantis to be the toughest of AVs, while others, like Diablolique was annoying with the personal bubble. Have yet to solo Diablolique, and Silver Mantis was a challenge!

But yeah, even level is what I always went by for AV soloing.
  23. Going by a post by Zwill in another thread. I'd say leave it as is.

At some point they'll make the VIP Tier 9 costume rewards available to everyone else through some alternate transaction. Right now however, it looks like it's a Tier 9 VIP perk to get early access WAY WAY WAY before anyone else, and I don't see a problem with it.

It also encourages people to put the money into the game. Sure you might not want to put down 400 dollars at once, but, throwing in an extra bit a month to move yourself up the ladder is a possibility for many.

I can't believe these 2 packs are put out in this fashion and we get a mutant pack and this other so so stuff over the last while? Really? He just said at some point all VIP Tier 9 costume sets well be available through an alternate means of purchase.

How is that upsetting to the player base? o.O I'd think that'd be great for those who aren't tier 9.

Can't have it now! But can have it later!

Tier 9 VIP just became "YOU GET IT FIRST!" for a few sets. Then it sounds like they may rotate them out so one can get them through VIP Tier 9 later, as well as alternate means.

My guess is they'll likely release the set sporadicly as a sale item. Kinda like some IO sets come and go on the market.

But when Mids comes out, I'll see if I'm going to make any changes or not.
