Quote:It's a part of his story, I wouldn't say it's important to his origin. Though I think what they're doing is combine that story with his origin.I saw the new trailer for the new Spider-Man movie and I must say it has me more interested than the previous one (oh no, you found my weakness! small sharp knives!
) I do have a question or two about it I guess.
I remember watching the 90s Spider-Man cartoons but don't really remember anything about Peter Parker's mom-and-dad. Were his parents so pivotal in something?
Thinking about it now, I can maybe, kind-of-sort-of remember an episode or two where his father was a scientist and was reported as a double agent and was working for the USSR; Spidey goes to Russia to find the truth and I think that's where he finds out that it was false and his father was a triple-agent (working for the US government but acting like he was working for the USSR)?
Right, wrong?
Does his parents matter that much to his story?
Can't recall, but may also be how they went with his origin story in the Ultimate Universe. -
Quote:Setup. Need setup for movies. People may have found the setup to be the dullest part of the movie (I didnt find it dull myself) but without it, the movie wouldn't do nearly as good.Maybe someone can help me here...
What was the point of the first hour of the movie? :3
It was entertaining, and the Battle for Manhattan was simply perfect in all regards (come on, when Hawkeye shoots to his blind side and just murders an entire skiff? Or when Hulk side-jabs Thor?). Really, the second half of the movie was excellent.
But that first half... and Scarlett can't act her way out of a paper bag. -

Quote:Agreed. After sleeping on it, two points.
One, Loki has never seen The Incredibles, since he tends to get tripped up while monologging.
Two, the argument could be made that so-and-so wasn't Jossed. Jossed characters don't get to linger, don't get the last word and don't get a last shot in, they simply die. Heroic death yes, Jossed no.
And yes I'm trying to keep this thread fairly spoiler free. -
Quote:If that was the case, then how would Iron Man 1 make sense, when they didn't even go by SHIELD then?So then, I take it everyone who has now seen it is quite satisfied? I know I was when I saw it on a business trip overseas.
I also presume there are no complaints as to how Loki was brought down to defeat? Please note I refer to Loki personally, not his army
Hulk and Stark get some of the best lines, also I like how we got a small bit of angst from Cap about being out of his time, but I'm sure that the rest is all saved for Captain America 2 which is as it should be.
I also smile when Cap is giving the orders for the battle and Hulk is the last one to get his orders and it's simply this:
Captain America: "And Hulk........!"
HULK looks at him expectantly
Captain America: "........SMASH!"
HULK just smiles, leaps into the battle and proceeds to SMASH
Also I think Whedon stated in interviews there are at least 30 minutes of deleted scenes for the DVD's when they release. I suspect one of those scenes will be of Cap reading up on what happened to his Howling Commandos and to Peggy. I wouldn't be surprised if not only Howard Stark was a SHIELD founder, but that Peggy and at least some of the Howling Commandos were the original group of SHIELD Agents, it's only fitting. -
Quote:Well, it's an increase of about 10 DPS, so that's something for sure. Maybe it would be enough...just finished my build 100% complete yesterday but didn't have a chance to test it, so, I'm going to see how it's doing.Executioner's Shot is listed as 2.57 seconds of animation. Assuming we can hit 2.1 (as quoted) or slightly below that with an animation adjustment, it would result in almost half second reduction in cast time and be a nice boost to DPA.
With Scourge however, DP's numbers look good imo, sadly, that's not much help if you need to get them down to half life first. :/ -

Now...are those ravens helping her put the outfit on or taking it off?
-
It's like the know what action movie fans want!
Can't wait to see it! -
WATCHED IT! LOVED IT! OMG!
I disagree with them saying Stark got all the best lines. I thought Banner got all the best lines!
There was one scene I was holding my breath on though, I was all "YES! YES! IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN!" I was just waited and waited and then...TOTALLY LET DOWN BUT IT WAS STILL AWESOME!
Maybe in Avengers 2!
Also, totally squeeled when the title screen came up!Just because!

Quote:They use flamethrowers on people who watch the flames go around them and shrug it off.I played CoV for two years before I ever put one toe blueside.
Longbow are the bunch who FLAMETHROWER people in the name of heroism, as if characters on a team in the mission were a bunch of rampaging xenomorphs. Nice.
And now they own Fort Darwin, which makes bile rise every time I see it.... geez.
Longbow are not my friends. They never will be.
Really, that's the canon. All the enemies in the game you can go after, can take the hits. -
Quote:Now this would have me upset. *nod*Half XP if exemplaring.
Much much less inf for everyone, on a much much less dramatic curve, and many more ways of having your inf taken away.
Round of nerfs for melee mez protection (and round of nerfs for KB-inflicting critter attacks.)
Round of nerfs for containment, Tanker damage, Scrapper damage, possibly Brute damage.
To make it so Scrappers couldnt solo AVs if built for it, thusly requiring a team all the time, would make this feel less like superheroes, and more like weak modern sword and fantasy. then possibly leaving Brutes as is, which is already close to Scrappers (if not surpassing them) in Damage (if built for it) and more survivalable.
Yup. I'd hate you.
Though the weaker mez protection. Hmmm...depends on how weak. Something I thought would be interresting, is to change how KB works.
Enemy attacks with something using KB. It has a chance to do knockback (from 1-100%) if the attacks hits and the KB triggers, then the Mez Protection doesn't stop the KB, it gives a percent chance to avoid the KB.
Tankers could have the higher chance to avoid it, then Brutes, then Scrappers, then Stalkers. Let's say 85%, 75%, 65% and 55%.
The KB IOs can then give a percent chance to avoid KB (maybe 5%) that's stackable.
But then KB never bothered me. Getting ping ponged through the map did. Every once and awhile, and KB becomes awesomely themetic! -
Quote:I wouldn't mind this myself. Even the SG base invansion, if the base defenses worked against the invansion.Adding to the list:
Turn the things that irritate about invasions up to 11.
- Create a new group that does a lot of self buffing. (Think mix of, oh, Romans and Nemesis.)
- Crank up the "drop" times - if you stand still for 3 seconds, I hope you like playing at x8...
- Pre-buff, they're very resistant and somewhat hard to hit.
- On death, they do the carnie end drain mechanic (autohit, guaranteed 50% END loss.)
- ... with a twist. (And can cut your END bar down 50%.)
- Plus they have sappers.
- that also gut your recovery.
- And marksmen-like mobs with *lots* of cold attacks to hit your recharge.
- Of course, in groups they buff their defense.
- And have very effective healing mobs that spam an AOE clear mind.
- That stacks.
I'd be nice, though, and leave an AOE vulnerability...
- and completely nonexistant resistance to knockback. Brawl sends them back 50 feet.
... after which more spawn.
Oh. And they'll happily spawn under covered areas, in buildings, even in SG bases.
So, who wants an invasion?! >.> -
You bring upa good point, Sam. If the devs have changed how they view the isles, they need to let the players know.
I really don't mind a few retcons in the story to fix/clear up the story.
Though I do wish they'd quit bringing in player made up ideas and running with them. Or taking a joke and (as Sam said) running it into the ground.
As it is, you can usually run up against most enemy groups and most people will say (IC or just the player) "Hah, these guys are such jokes."
Now, admittedly, I do that with some of the lower level enemies, that I see more as street gangs (Hellions/Skulls/Outcasts/Trolls) the type which Spidey swings in, stops and is quickly gone, but the enemies seen in the 40+ range, even if simple are suppossed to be real threats, even if the characters sweep right through them.
But I think clearing stuff up like that is less likely to happen when they give the writers free reign to ignore canon and just "give a good story"
Also not helped when a lot of the player base doesn't care about the story and makes up their own or just wants to smash their way through it, so it becomes less of a priority for the devs.
So in closing...Devs tie up some loose ends and make the enemies serious threats again (at least story wise!) -
Quote:While I'm for some Dual Pistols love. It doesn't seem a loss of .3 seconds to ES would increase one's damage output that much.Dual Pistols definitely draws it's animations out far, far too long. Some attacks hit that 'just right' area, but...
...
/me looks over the list.
... Honestly? Empty Clips, Bullet Rain, Executioner's Shot, and Piercing Rounds could all stand to be sped up a bit. There's just too much time flailing around like an idiot. If they all get just a bit of a speed increase, it'd not only perform better, but feel more like you're a very agile gun-kata user (for those who play it like that).
I guess we can only hope for the future, then. Although Swap Ammo is the biggest flaw of the set.
But then, giving the various ammo types an increase in damage might only increase it the same amount. *shrug*
Working on my own DP/TIME, still finding it lacking in damage. Maybe that'll change once I catalyze the Corr ATO set. -
As I work on my own Time Manipulation user, a thought came to me, if increasing the amount of -Regen the set offers (I still find it to little make much of a difference, while solo for sure) seems to be no...how about increasing Time Crawl's duration to match Slowed Response.
Increase the duration of Time Crawl to 30's seconds, so one can keep the -Regen on them as long as they keep the -Resist of Slowed Response on them.
It keeps it to a 1-2 punch combo, but allows one to hit them together for better offense (mind you, this is assuming one builds to keep SR close to if not 100% perma).
It'll also help the weapon sets paired with TM, in they can cast TC and SR then go back to blasting away for 30 seconds before needing to refresh either of them. -
Quote:For story arcs, this isn't bad at all.Of course, being MY cutscenes, they'd be long... epic... melodrama...
Even better! Invent a new cutscene system like the movie CLUE - you randomly get one of three possible cutscenes (or maybe base them on your team's actions through the arc)!
And JUST to encourage the screaming mass of seething hatred...
... you can't skip past them.
Wow, I'd be like the most loathed dev since the game was founded...

Samuraiko/Dark_Respite
For TFs/Trials that get repeated often, it becomes bad. At least imo. I'd love some more cut scenes in story arcs! -
I find it interresting that the Rogue Isles are now just a few miles off the coast of Paragon, and really part of the US.

Quote:Quite possibly when it's a group of super powered A-Listers (remember, Arachnos and his LTs where the top super powers of the WORLD fromt he start. Player characters were always B-listers compared to the signature characters at that point) saying...So we launch attacks on them simply because they exist and have goals that are different from things we want?
"We're going to kill you all. Bow down before us!"
Yeeeeaaah. When they make such threats and have the power to enforce it, you saying you'd sit around and wait for them to make the first move, killing millions, and then retaliate?
Mhmmm.
Those saying that, are they the same ones who keep wondering "Why doesn't Batman just kill the Joker and save millions of lives"? Only, they didn't kill anyone. They went in, gave the bully a black eye and left.
No mention of killing and Arachnos is still alive and going strong. -
Quote:How does that make people hate you though?More and more AE exclusive updates.
...
I use it for it's purpose
Admittedly, some of my own suggestions would likely be more "half hate me, the other half not so much"But, still had a couple Im sure would have many growling. ^_^

Quote:I don't know if I'd call invading a country filled with known supervillains and being run by them, as an ethical breach. For one, this isn't the real world, it's a world filled with superpowers. This -is- an important question. I think it's mostly along the lines of the different types of Vigilante.
Batman Vs. Punisher type deal. They're both Vigilantes, but there's no arguing that one is more traditionaly heroic.
Superman's a hero, but he'll X-Ray vision someone without a warrant.
However, there's a difference between a hero, being portrayed as a hero, that bends the rules every now and then and someone else, being described as a hero, who's primary portrayal is violations of law and huge ethical breaches.
Even if Statesman and company went there first (before Arachnos started robbing banks), it's agreed upon by the world at large, they're evil supervillains with plans to take over the world. They even say as much in their propoganda! -
Quote:I really haven't seen Staff Fighting to be sub par. It's not the top set in AOE or the top set in ST, but it does good in both areas. So my impression from skimming over the set is.
Its subpar but not so far subpar it will ever get fixed...
well I have no idea if thats good or not.
Well at least its better than beast mastery.
I do think it'll find it's better pairings (and this is just a guess on my part) in EA, SR, and ELA.
ENDRED untill Energy Drain powers, then switch to more damage!
While I don't consider the +RCH worthless as an effect, I do thinkit's an effect people build for, so will lose some ground in usefulness.
Also, if not built for the best END REC, one can go all out damage (Body) then switch it to ENDRED, then switch back to MORE DAMAGE! \o/
I probably would of liked a little higher values in the +DMG myself, but that's only because the +DMG gets to be spent. But that could be a matter of perspective, maybe it's made to equal out to just under BU levels of +DMG in the long run?
But I wouldn't call Staff sub-par. -
Quote:Terrorist? They're an organization of basically the low powered heroes, taking on an evil organization (have people forgotten Arachnos?).I would support this. I dislike the terrorist organization they are portrayed as.
Nevermind that other organizations do it, they're just not as grand. You know, like those pesky hero supergroups who invade the Isles to take down Recluse and his machine.
And Longbow bases are in an area that isn't even part of the nation, it was just close to the nation.
The PPD werent always effective in Paragon either. In the beginning they were outgunned, outmanned, and the only thing they had going for them was the fact they were considered the most upright police force in the nation.
To bad they were always cowering and getting mugged by every villain that walked the street. -
When done right, people don't seem to have problems with reboots of cartoons. But a problem with reboots of movies?
Now admittedly, Sam and Toby could of likely done more (and better if the studio stayed out of it).
However, I'm thinking this reboot is looking pretty good so far. At the very least, it looks like Spidey has regained his wisecracking. -
Yes please! No pause! Just because I teleport doesn't mean I should hover there, unable to really move. :/
Also faster animation for it! Takes forever!
