Yeah I don't think these initial (most likely more will come in future issues) proliferations are taking matching into account at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't say that. I bet theme will be as much a part as anything.
Except, right now, in game...there is no matching buff/debuff set to go with Plant Controll. THO...I think Empathy works really well with the Mother Earth type. -

positron already said corrs will get storm...meaning empathy is out.
[/ QUOTE ]Who said it would be *corruptors* getting empathy?
Thugs/empath MM ftw!

I can see that instead of Kinetics for Masterminds. I'll still guess Kinetics tho.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would be a little surprised to see that, if only because of the widespread nerf-herding that surrounds Kinetics.
If there's an AT that it actually makes a little sense to have a "buff the troops" powerset like Empathy villain-side, it's probably more MM than Corr anyway.
I'll be happy regardless. Despite posting a "bah" earlier in this thread, I'm significantly more stoked about this issue than I was about I11.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually...I'm seeing the Empathy for MMs more than Kin now, while typing out my last post in this thread.
It gives the villains the Empathy Set they've been wanting. -
Use some guess work...
Brutes...Axe and Mace already mentioned. That leaves 3 sets open on Secondaries (without Ice Melee, will ditch Ice Armor as a choice). Seeing as how they don't have access to a ninja like Primary, I'd ditch Ninjitsu. That leaves SR or Regen (I'd guess SR).
Corrs...Getting Storm. For theme reasons, Electric makes sinse.
Doms...They only lack Illusion and Earth. Really, it's a toss up either way. I think they'll go ILL tho.
MMs...lots of options. Sonic is close to FF in use. But with no matching Primary, I'd guess Kinetics (my bet) or Empathy (gives Villains the Empathy set they want).
Stalkers...I see Ice/Ice myself. But they could go either way on this set.
Trollers...Plant we know. Cold Domination and Thermal Radiation are the only sets they lack as a secondary. Thermal makes more sinse to port over for theme reasons. Thermal is the good bet imo.
Defenders...Ice/Cold Domination. Brings Cold Domination over to Hero side (if Trollers get Thermal Radiation).
**Note...hmmm...yes, saying this, I think MMs with get Empathy now more than Kinetics. Brings Empathy over to Villain side.
Blasters...Psy has already been mentioned. Really, I can't think of anything for their secondary, that wouldn't need to be butchered over alot, to be alot like the secondaries they already have.
Tankers...Dark/Dark is my guess. EA and ELA lack self-heals/regen, things every Tanker says they need to tank. I also just don't see Ninjitsu being made tank. Tho the tanks do have Dual Blades to fit the theme of Ninjitsu.
Scrappers...going with themes...EM/EA, ELM/ELA, or Fire/Fire (I just don't see it being Ice/Ice). My guess...ELM/ELA, just cuz I want my ELM/ELA hero. -

I just wanna know why they can say the AT's are getting new sets... and mention SOME of the sets that SOME of the AT's are getting... but can't just release the list of sets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cuz the devs are teases. -
[ QUOTE ]
Right but storm isn't really a buff set. Debuffs sure.
I would be annoyed if heros got one of the corrupters BUFF sets and controllers didn't get the main one of there's just saying.
If I had one to pick to keep unique on each side it would be empathy and thermal. If you're not going to port one I'd port the other.
BUT, this is not a make or break issue for me.
/storm corruptors will make me want to finally roll and play a corruptor past lvl 10.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I did say Debuff/Buff...but yeah, I know Storm is more the Debuff.
However, like I said in this thread. Empathy for the MMs is possible. I'm still guessing Kinetics, but Empathy is a VERY CLOSE second.
For Trollers secondary, they only have 2 options, sinse Trollers have access to every other Debuff/Buff set...Thermal Radiation and Cold Domination.
Seeing as how Fire Controll is the only Primary without a matching Secondary (Radiation being the closest, but still not matching imo), my guess is Thermal Radiation.
I of course could be wrong.
Tho to mention it, with Plant being on Trollers now, I don't see a matching Secondary for it either...maybe Empathy. -

So, was I reading it right that each AT will get one primary and secondary power from its corresponding AT? If so that's awesome!

Every AT gains at least 1 powerset -- Masterminds only get a Secondary, no new Primary. Brutes get 2 new Primaries, and 1 secondary. Everyone else gets 1 Primary and 1 Secondary.

I would be miffed if controllers get thermal but villans dont get empathy.
Just saying.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why? The devs didn't say they wouldn't add more later. Also, these are just guesses for what I assume the first 20 are going to be.
Thermal and Cold Domination being the only ones that the Trollers don't have as a secondary, I figure Thermal is the best bet.
Why?
Fire Control is the only set without some sort of corresponding Secondary for Trollers.
Besides that...from my sig, you can see I mainly play hero-side (I like playing the role of hero more), and I can tell you, when I make teams, I don't go...OMG we need an Empath!
They're nice to have yes, but not any more than any other Debuff/Buff class. -
[ QUOTE ]
MM's with FS on their own...that could be something else
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, it's only a guess. But it's also the only one I see being ported over, without having a corresponding Primary (Some with a few Rad, cold...ect blasts).
Figure like the other Secndaries of MMs tho, they'll be weaker than Corrs (at least that's how my /Dark MM felt compared to my /Dark Corr). -

I doubt they'll want to give us more slots per server. That way, it will encourage people to move to less populated servers. Essentially, reviving them...

But I can see them giving 2 new slots, to allow people one of every AT on a server. -

Brute <Mace, Axe, Super Relfexes>
Doms <Illusion, Electric>
Corrs <Electric, Storm>
Stalkers <Ice Armor, Ice Melee>
Trollers <Plant, Thermal>
Defenders <Ice, Cold Dom>
Tankers <Dark Melee, Dark Armor>
Blasters <Psychic Blast, ???>
Scrappers <Electric Melee, Electric Armor>
Just my guesses. -

So, if Cimerora is just another hero zone designed to confront the enemy of time...

No, it's hero/villain.

There is a familiar threat in an ancient land and the Midnighters need the help of both Heroes and Villains to stop it. Players step foot upon the ancient land of the Roman Cimeroran Peninsula..

So that's actually a pile more 35-50 content for Villains.
[/ QUOTE ]
My apologies, in my rage, I must've missed it.
It's still just more hero content shovelled onto villains.
Yeah, so I'm kinda Angry about this issue. Colour me disappointed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, even in the comics, some villains have joined sides with heroes in the past for a common purpose.
What you might want instead, is a storyline element added in their to give your villain more reason to join with the hero in the first place. -
[ QUOTE ]
I hate to beg, but ... Can we please get 2 more character slots per server?
The addition of Villain Epic Archetypes and Powerset Proliferation is definitely going to increase my alt count.
[/ QUOTE ]
This makes sinse to me. Not that I wouldn't mind more slots, sinse making Virtue my new server.
But it makes sinse to have at least enough slots for 1 of every AT on a server.
5 + 5 + 2 + 2 = 14 slots. -
[ QUOTE ]
*sigh* Way to screw villains YET AGAIN.
*HIGHLY disappointed with the "epic" archetype*
[/ QUOTE ]
You haven't even seen them yet. How could you be disappointed? Did you want evil Kheldians?
I'm thinking once we see the Villain Epics, Heroes will wish Kheldians were as good. -
[ QUOTE ]
Everything looks great....except the villain epics. I am so not excited about being a Night Widow or Crab Guy.
[/ QUOTE ]
THey sound better than Kheldians already. So what's the problem again. -
I don't see a bad thing here at all! I can't wait.
-
I'll chime in as well...
1) Getting to mission difficulty. This is just part of the game. It really can't be helped...yeah running away might make it seem less heroic, but the game has to give somewhere.
For the most part, once you get a travel power (temp or otherwise), I find this issue rarely shows itself.
2) Paid little expansions. Was the Wedding One to much? Maybe. Was it really game breaking to not have? Not at all.
I bought it. Why? Cuz I liked one costume option out of the whole thing. That, and I happen to have 10 bucks I could spend on it (mind you, I'm not rich).
CoX gives lots of free costume options to the players every issue pretty much. The fact that this one required you to pay for it...no big deal. It didn't break your game, you lost out on nothing.
3) Vet rewards. Yeah, they can be cool. Know what? I have one character that uses a Vet Pet. I have more then one character btw.
Those few other temp powers? Like Sands of Mu and the staves? Really, hardly ever use them. On some of my characters, I don't even bother activating them.
The costume pieces? Well...I'll admit...I use one of them alot. But that's only because I wanted that exact costume piece before vet rewards were ever introduced. :P (That's the female belly shirt).
All the rest, I've used the trenchcoat on one character.
I have one concept character Id like to get boxing gloves for. Guess what? Doesn't bother me not having them.
And really, I can't picture anyone using every single costume option in the game? Only ones who really seem to want them imo, are those who HAVE to have every costume option available...when it really seems like a waste...:P
Like those who get all the costume wing options, when you can only have 5 costume slots anyways. :P Yeah, I know you can change them in and out...but are you really gonna? -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Again, this change boils down to one extremely simple concept: When a task force contact says that you need a team of at least x people, they really do mean that you need a team of at least x people. Not one less, not two less, not whatever is personally convenient for you less. x people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Simplicity is not correctness. We're not arguing whether this change happened. We're arguing whether it's right.
Positron says TFs are intended as casual content. If that's the design goal, then up to six to ten hours of forced-teamed content (as is the case with Dr. Q) is simply bad design. Casual content design must account for human factors. You might dismiss human factors as "personal convenience," but take my word for it: neglecting ergonomics and real life priorities is not a good thing.
Anyway, I'm glad if you've had only positive TF experiences since this change. But they do not negate anyone else's negative experiences. Not every casual player is feeling the chilling effect on TF attempts, but some are, and that needs to be noted.
[/ QUOTE ]
You didn't fully read his post.
He also said they didn't figure on them being popular with the PuGs (a mistake imo)...and that it would be a group of friends who would get on...play, and if so desired could all logout, and resume the TF at another planned time.
IE...play for an hour, and say let's pick it up tomarrow at 9am.
However, when it comes to most of the players who do the TFs imo...we want to finish what we started, especially sinse as PuG TFs go, you don't know if the others will show up on time or if at at all. -
If you tell your team (or at least the star holder) that you may have to go AFK/Log for extended amounts of times. Then they know what they're getting into before hand, and you've done nothing wrong to them.
Now, personally, you being gone that long, I'd personally ask that you logged (if it's that 30 min afk), just so the team doesn't want to kick you. :P
Which brings up another thought...
Even on heroic, with all minimum lvl people for the TF, I've seen the TFs always have the max lvl enemy for the TF.
Now, if a team of minimum lvl can beat a TF like that (that's usually what +4-5 mobs)...your telling me a few people who aren't that far off in lvl from the mobs, can't handle a few extra?)
Just today, when I ran the previously mentioned Positron, the tanker told me right off the bat, he'd only beable to play for 2 1/2 hours.
Positron...done that fast...not likely. Told him it was ok tho.
Of course, he ended up staying the whole TF, with a 10 min AFK (as well as another player), then there was the one who DC'ed or Logged (it never said quit TF).
So, we had one mission that had 4 players completing the mission, with 2 still online. I really can't see this change being all that bad. -
OK, I really don't see why people are complaining. Heck, in most PuG TFs I've ran, once you get down to three people only running it, the other two quit (me...I'm always up for giving the pain...
)
Positron requires 3 or 4 people to start. Just did the TF tonight. 7 man team (ended with 6)...and I thought the xp curve made this TF a whole lot better. Whew.Didn't feel as long, cuz everyone was lvling so fast. Those 3 lvl 11's got to lvl 13 by the end of the second mission if I remember correctly.
Besides that TF tho (took us 4:36, think we could of gotten under 4, if it wasn't for the one buggy mission, and the AFKs)...what other TF takes that long?
I admit, I haven't done Statesman's yet and only 1 of the Shadow Shard ones (the one with ALOT of Defeat # of X's at this location).
Do that many people really solo TFs? I've soloed Positron. But that was because people left after a buggy mission (and the GM not showing up untill after everyone quit, and I finally logged out and right back in to reset the mission). And the only reason I solo'ed it, was because I didn't want to exemp for it later. :P
Another thing I notice...all these what I can only assume are villain only players and they're complaining about a nerfing of one of their TFs that according to one screenshot took 22mins to complete.
Why? I remember quite well the villain only players whining about Katies being so quick...now they want different treatment?
As for softloading...only done it twice...once heroside, and only because the team I ran with wanted to do it that way. :P
The other time was Villain Respec. Really, I think that just needs fixed abit myself. :P
Not to mention, how many time have we heard of people of different ATs and powerset combinations, that soloed 6-8man spawns anyways?
So...you do it on the regular basis anyways, why should the TF be any different?
Again, the only change I see needed, is to lower some of those 7-8 man member teams down to 4-6. I say 4 more just so it's even easier to get those TFs started. -
I just hope this leads to ela/elm ported over to scrappers.
That and more powersets in every issue -
I'm just curious, but why get riled up about not getting into closed beta testing?
Sure, it sounds like fun. You also get to see some of the new stuff, and test it out before anyone else gets to see it.
So those complaing...are you complaining cuz you just want in to see the stuff? Or would you actually be on there testing?
Would you give it more than an hour of your time?
It's test too...so it's not like you get to keep your character.
So what's the real big draw to get into it?
I've been able to get into Hellgate: London's beta for awhile, still havent done it. :P And really, I just don't know if I see why CoH beta would any different.
Or is it like a special pride? You get to say, "Yeah, I was a beta tester?" -
I'll hope this is the right area. Seeing as how it's for closed beta.
Please...add in Electric Melee for Scrappers.ELM/WP sounds like a great fit for my namesake.
I'm so close to remaking her a tank, WP/EM just to get my namesake hero side. -

Hmm, what are the odds of getting myself a Fireman's axe?
Good I hope. Anyone hear anything from any of the dev's on this? I thought I read that awhile ago but I can't seem to find it now.

I wonder if all these goodies will finally make people in the suggestion forum stop declaring things undoable. Lots of these stuff they've announced were so declared.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really. Flashback was once said by Statesman to be something he didn't particularly care for, but I don't think anyone ever said it was undoable. And as far as weapon customization goes... it's *not* the same as power customization. Being able to customize weapons is completely different from being able to customize power FX and does *not* "open the door" (as one previous poster said) to the road to full power customization.
Power customization is still impossible with the current tech that the Devs have, according to BaB, and the fact that they've made weapons customizable doesn't mean they're any closer at all to true power customization.
Issue 11 is looking to be absolutely fantastic, but I really don't see anything that has been said to be "undoable."
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, Statesman said he didn't want it before, because that was the reason to create alts.
I think they've sinse figured that people would still create lots of alts, even if they can flashback with their 50's.
Personally, it's that reason I stay with the game. I think that's one of the reasons for so many alts in this game...the combos of power sets, plus even if you repeat a combo, you can of course make them look completely different.
