1. Stamina + PS + some ENDRED slotting = no need for CP.

I'd say grab Tough/Weave + Aid Self, and go for +DEF & +RCH IO bonuses.

I just started a DM/FA scrapper and am finding it really enjoyable to play. I guess what I am asking is........is there something coming in the future that make this combo sucktastic?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes! It's called the Imperious Taskforce.

Lol It's hard to tell sometimes... especially now with the Witch Costumes running rampent all over the place.... and that outfit shows alot of skin!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that magic pack was much more "Halloween costume sexy witch" rahter than "wicked witch."

[/ QUOTE ]

The detail on that witch outfit is fantastic. Tried to make a classic, evil, seductress type look with it (others said it looked it...using the Witch Lace, and alot of the skull & spines options), was actually quite proud of it, untill someone blasted "blah blah streetwalker blah blah blah" int hew tailor in SC (kinda a shapeshifter with multiple personalities).

I got rid of the outfit :/

Problem with the top, is I find it hard to match it with a different bottom.

They should just add something called Electric Surge which acts like Healing Flames..

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed, but the extras like a strong tier 9, end drain protection, a +recharge +speed auto power, kb/teleport protection, a fast recharge pbaoe end drain AND a healing flames clone would be a little much if you ask me.

Something like reconstruction with a 80 second base recharge timer would be a little more reasonable. Either that or a fast healing clone or a auto HP power. Personally I'd prefer the self heal over the other 2.

[/ QUOTE ]

Really, i'd personally prefer a fast healing clone tied in with a auto + hp power.

As it stands now, maybe a touch over fire armors resistance and just a few resistances to things like slows and end drain. This set is going to be far to weak for me to even consider without something like a combined fast healing/auto hp power in place of CP.

which likely see they might do since tankers already get CP in the epic, and they don't want ATs to have double of something like that, hence why blasters dont get it in the epics.

[/ QUOTE ]

While I still don't think CP will be removed from ELA when it's ported over (I think they'll just block the epic choice from people), I think the most likely replacement (and good for Brutes as well) would be a Stamina clone.

And yes. CP is great. It's that you don't need it with a slotted up PS, that it becomes worthless.

Am I the only one who thinks Dual Blades should never have been a Tanker secondary?

[/ QUOTE ]

Not only do I think it shouldn't have been a Tanker secondary, I think it's a terrible one for tankers all on it's own.

Too much proliferation of the power sets and the[u] individuality of the archetypes seems muddled. [u]

[/ QUOTE ]

So?

Why do the ATs have to be unique and beautiful snowflakes? And assuming they do, why can't the inherent powers handle that task?

[/ QUOTE ]

The ATs are unique (thought not always beautiful) ATs.

Look at the melee classes...they all play different and feel different.

I don't know about anyone else, but playing a Troller and playing a Dom, feels completely different.

In fact, playing my Dom, I feel like I'm just playing a better blaster.
7. [ QUOTE ]
I've always been annoyed that controllers got plant control. I mean Controllers had their own primary (Illusion) and doms had plants, but then they gave it to Controllers and Doms didn't get illusions? I felt cheated. Not necessarily because I wanted an illusion dominator it was just a matter of principle. I mean proliferation gives you some odd combos and sometimes it give you some very weird ones as well. Dual Blade Stalkers (who don't seem to work) and Ice Brutes (I know they never made the final cut) come to mind. But sometimes I like that a class has a power set to themselves. Too much proliferation of the power sets and the individuality of the archetypes seems muddled.

And before anyone goes off on this I know if you played a Stone/Stone Tank and a Stone/Stone brute they'll end up very different but I still like the idea of archetypes having their own power sets that nobody else gets.

Oh well, at least Masterminds will always have their own primaries .

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually. Before the first round of proliferation...Trollers had TWO unique Control Sets (Earth & Illusion) vs Dom's ONE unique Control Set (Plant).

So they each gave each other a unique.

So, it's not like Dom's havent gotten a Troller unique set.
8. [ QUOTE ]
I've thematically matched up Trick Arrow with Plant Control (using a bendy stick to shoot wood, and grow your own) and Illusion Control (tricks and illusions - it's a super magic act!) for Controllers.

[/ QUOTE ]

I see no real arrow in there :P Still shotting an arrow no stabby. Not even an arrow with no tip, just sheer force driving it through the target.
9. Hope the OP doesn't mind me throwing in a build...but was working on a Fire/Rad build...I have the LotG, have all the IOs seen in Pool Powers/Rad Powers (what I basically lack are all the purples...well I have a few of the hold set)...in my ILL/RAD build (she's my baby for now, if I don't find I like FIRE/RAD more)...that I was thinking of transfering over to my new FIRE/RAD...

But I would love a build critique

...like I said, have all but the purple sets (exception of a couple of the holds) and the pet set (didnt need it on my ILL/RAD).
10. With color tinting...id say others are right...Energy Manipulation will pair up nicely theme wise for Sonic and Radiation Blast)

Energy Blast goes well with Kinetics. Kinetic's even has it's own repel power.

Wind Blast = Energy Blast (as said)...don't like the idea of energy with it, pretend it's all smashing.

Electric Blast works with Kin (bio electricity), and Storm (lightning) so very well. It has a match.

Mind Control has Force Fields (telekinesis), Empathy, and with a little imagination (and maybe color tinting for you), Radiation (My ILL/RAD RP's Radiation as Telepathy...makes the enemy sick, dizzy, feel generally weaker, makes friends feel stronger than they are, makes them ignore wounds...ect...ect...)

Storm Summoning has Ice Control as a matching set.

Force Field matches up with Mind/Grav/Illusion very well.

Radiation can match up with Fire/Grav/as mention I matched it up with ILL...

Poison seems to match Necromancy rather well imo. The zombie's puke, and hey, now so do you!
Pain can go with alot of them well if you just try (you're just looking at the name now, and thinking..."Pain Domination must equal BDSM" while it could...it doesn't have to)

Ok, hugs could likely use a better match, Devices do seem a bit higher tech, but I don't know if it's a new set that will help. Especially sinse it would just be devices with new graphics.

Maybe ask for a Leadership style Buff/Debuff type of set?

Electricity already works with Earth Control (as they showed when they ported it), however that said I am not against an Electricity Control set, and figure it will come sooner or later.

Why would you have to match broadsword with anything? Hey look! I have a big huge sword! Really, it'll match with WP, Ninjitsu, or SR just fine, if you don't want to use Dark/Fire/Elec Armors.

Now I should note, you ask for all this...but you forgot Trick Archery. Which has no match up for Trollers.

And this is the one set that never made sense to me, to give Trollers.

/TA Troller *twang* Look at me! I slowed down the enemy so they can still shoot at us!

ARCHERY Blaster *twang* Look at me! I pinned them all to the wall, so they can't shoot at us! Seriously dude, break down and buy some normal arrows, you cheap-skate.

/TA Hey, these arrows are expensive! *shoots harmless arrow at Blaster*

/Archery Mine are cheap *shoots arrow into Trollers head* and effective.
11. Yes. I know. Little hard to cram all for of them into one person. But, like I said...was based of stories written along time ago by me.

1 host, who lead the four of them (pretty much against all 5 of their wills)...more complicated, but that's the jist.

With Science Booster, I can get that character, part way, there

She can't split off into all 4 of them + herself at once. But *shrugs* still can shapeshift into one of them at a time (though...I can easily RP it the other way )

I decided on Fire/Rad. Also did the poll in my SG.

RAD just kept poping up on almost all of them. Dark Miasma and/or Dark Armor popped up quite a bit. I thought the Cold/Elec Defender seemed interresting.

But Fire/Rad...as Pestilence was to lead a swarm of demons in it's path (fire imps).

Rad/Archery was a popular one in my SG as well, sinse Pestilence uses a bow.

Thought about that one and Rad/Ice (throw ice blasts = bow...RP Ice Sword...or possibly get it when Defenders get an Ice Epic)...but the leading of demons led me to Fire/Rad.

Thanks for all the replies.

Remember: with great chest slider comes great responsibility. Especially in City of Heroes. Because even with all sliders on default, female models look kind of like crippled Barbie dolls, and messing with scales only makes it worse.

Developers! Make a new female model already, for the current one sucks. But I digress...

Heels. Every one of my attempts at a female character wore heels because of the odd way legs look on the female characters. I'm no artist, but something is just WRONG with females' legs when you wear flat shoes or go barefoot, it's bordering on the uncanny valley. Wearing boots with any kind of heel almost certainly cures this problem. I think the female models were INTENDED to wear heels all along, and flat footwear (or lack thereof) was more of an afterthought.

Skimpy outfits. I'm pretty sure some of you know my attitude towards nudity (well, Lothic should at least). That said, the problem with wearing skimpy clothes is that they are nothing more than body paint. Female models are already awful (where's the belly button by the way?) and outfits like Eden that lack any "substance" to them produce the effect of an animated, painted plastic doll. It's not alluring in the least and results in the uncanny valley effect again.

Side note: I'm shocked that this thread was started by a female.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's the legs. More noticeable when bare foot/high heels.

[/ QUOTE ]

There's more to it than that. There are different leg models for some different foot/boot models. On some leg models, the calves are more rounded and full, on others, they're narrow and spindly. Some leg models show distinct, nice ankles, other leg models show "cankles". Thigh shape, width and "reflection pattern" are occasionally altered by different boot/foot models, too.

It's very annoying. I've probably spent close to ten hours just switching leg/boot/foot models back and forth, watching the changing leg dimensions and wishing I could thwap someone with a newspaper. Someone (*coughJaycough*) needs to go through the entire repository of leg/boot/foot models and make them identical, or add sliders for more than simple leg length.

[/ QUOTE ]

True. While I haven't noticed it to much on as many as you seem to have, I have noticed it on...

Baggy Socks. Love the way they make the legs look. Love the shoes (I wish the sandles looked as good in flat/heels/smooth/ect as they do in the Baggy Sock).

Bikini 2, makes the upper legs look bigger.

Stone tanks aren't all that hot in PvE on a decent team. I'd rather have a high damage, mobile, less sturdy tank with his survival boosted by buffs than a mobility impaired, damage impaired tank. Aggro control by tanks go right out the window when you have competent team members that just rip everything apart anyways.

I16 and MA

Hmmm...

Talasorian Spines
Metal Spines
Raluu (sp?) Spines...oooh...how I could just imagine all those blinking eyeballs on one scrapper!
16. Hmmm...I should of just taken mids, seen how much FURY was needed to match Scrapper DPS in using the same Dark Melee chain.

Well, let's see at 65% Fury, instead of 100. I would still think that would be pretty nice DPS with Energy Melee.

The problem still being however, that EM takes alot of Recharge to get that attack chain.

You'd likely be better off with a different set.

Still, I'd love to have Pink Pom-Poms of glowiness.
17. [ QUOTE ]
Well, on the secondary, I like sr. It doesn't have a psi hole like invuln, and is very easy to softcap. Mine is level 28 and near softcap off just SOs and weave.

As for MA, nothing really makes it special to me. I'm thinking of rerolling my MA/SR as a Claws.

[/ QUOTE ]

To be fair, /SR has a psi hole to 3 psi attacks with no ranged dmg type.
18. I love Martial Arts, was about to roll up another one, but...with the news of new alternate animations for Martial Arts...I just have to wait.

I want 50 lvls of new animations (thought I have a feeling I'll keep some of the old ones...*waves bye-bye to at least CaK*)

As for which secondary. INV will cause a gap because of Dull Pain, but that's not as often as your gaps with Claws/Regen.

I'd say go on concept and run with it

How do you cap the non-smashing, non-lethal resistances?

[/ QUOTE ]

While I still rather have the...

Greater Regen of WP (100+ HP a second vs 49.5 (with Rooted)/30.1 (w/out Rooted)\

Both able to softcap defenses.

Granite gives the better resists (by alot) vs WP's no -DMG/-SPD/-JUMP/-RCH

While it wouldn't be a toss up to me...others might find it a toss up. Here I went with Stone/Stone Granite Tanker Build, to show almost capped Resists to all and pretty much softcapped defenses (it's like .3% off of softcap).

Tanker Rivalry?

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
In normal missions, I just arrange to tank alternate mobs with the other tank, so that there's always a nice tight group for the damage to blow away.

[/ QUOTE ]

I typically won't want a second tank on the team because I'm usually looking for something else like a blaster or aoe scrapper. However, if I have a second tank I'll typically grab agro on one spawn, and if the second tank is not smart enough to skip to the next one then I'll just jump to the next spawn and group it up while the team finishes off the first spawn, and so on. Unfortunately, it's kind of rare for me to run into the tankers that understand the leap-frog concept, but it's great when you find a partner that does.

[/ QUOTE ]

Could always mention it to them.

But really, alot don't like to play that way.

When you can go spawn to spawn taking things out faster, than "wait and herd", why herd?

This includes using the leapfrog method.

Gathered...enemies wasted before the other tank is done herding them up.

That said, I personally prefere the spawn to spawn, to fast to herd teams.
21. BrandX

Tanker Rivalry?

Truthfully. A few times, I've had it. But mostly, when I'm on my tankers (not as often anymore)...

If there is another tank on the team, I'll let them be lead tank, while I play backup, unless I see they completely gimped themselves somehow.

Like no mez protection power, bu we're up against mez heavy mobs. But they didn't want to take the power, because it wasn't fun.

The Win Tank

[ QUOTE ]
G'Day mates, Outback Saviour 'ere! I would just like some feedback on a tank I plan on building after i16 comes out: the Win Tank, aka: Stone Armor, Electric Melee, and Arctic Mastery.

In my mind, this tank is the Win Tank becuse I think it might be able to do anything (almost) after level 32.
Examples:
-Mobs: Stone Tanks, for the most part, don't die. This is obviously helpful with mobs. Also, with Lighting Rod and possibly Snowstorm, you'd have an ubertank with a good AoE (its good right?) and a good slowing/damaging power
-AVs: Again....Stone Tanks don't die. HOWEVER, Psi damage does hurt them....but I'd like to see a Psionic AV attack you without Endurance.
-PvP: This is, in my mind, the ALMOST. Stone Tanks are slow, so in PvP, they don't win....they don't really LOSE...but they don't win.

Now, I might be 100% COMPLETEY wrong about this buiild. If I am, please tell me.

Any and all feedback/opinions/ect ect ect would be awesome.

Cheers,
@Outback Saviour

IO'ed out WP/ tanker beats out Granite in survivability imo. Survive just as well, and not have the movement/dmg/recharge negatives that Granite gives you.

Before I gutted her, my WP/EM tanked Recluse at the end of the STF, without any help from Defenders/Trollers/Nukes/Shivians...just my tank and some skittles (the /RAD left, and I can't recall if we had a /TA on the team, but even if we did, they stayed with the rest of the team on the towers)...

Kept aggro, kept standing, beat the TF

I'm not saying don't go Stone Armor. But I don't think I'd call it the number one survivable tanker anymore.

That, and all to often I see Granite Tankers not using Rooted in Granite, and thus dying. *Shakes head and weeps*
23. Nothing against using MA/AE to farm, Krunch.

But Lvl 1-50 in 10 days?

I can get to lvl 50 in 10 days, just running the following...

1-8 Sewer Team

8-10 KR Radios/Safeguard (for temp travel)

10-16 Positron TF

16-21 Synapse TF

21-25/26 Sister Psyche TF

26-28/29 Moonfire TF (rugged difficulty)

28/29-29/30 Hess TF (rugged difficulty)

29/30-30/31 Citadel TF (rugged difficulty)

30/31-31/32 Speeding through last two arcs in Croatoa

31/32-32/33 Manticore TF

32/33-35 a few Katie Hannon TF

35-36 (37 if really lucky and high enough difficulty) Numina TF

36/37-50 ITF (you can throw in a Kahn and/or LGTF lvl 45+ if you want).

There I just got merits from lvl 10+, get at least 1 really great IO one would want (and if you want can sell if IOs arent your thing, but want the influence for gen IOs/SOs/costume fees)...

I can do all that in less than 10 days with the right team. OH how I loved that 2hour Posi and 1:14 (kill all) Citadel.

I'll give a whack at this...

War I see as a Scrapper or Tanker... any set but Ice would fit.

Death... hmm, no Dark Miasma? Well, how about... man, this is hard... maybe a Warshade?

Pestilence I see as either a Rad or Trick Arrow, though TA fits better due to having no buffs at all.

Famine fits great into an Elec/Elec Blaster... the enemies won't be able to do anything when starving for endurance.

[/ QUOTE ]

One AT/Power Set Combo to fit all 4 into one though

Edit: And yeah, no Dark Miasma. I thought about it as well. But I really don't want to play through that set again. It's a nice set, just not for me.

I'll respond after ET is done animating...

[/ QUOTE ]

Cmon it's only .4 seconds slower than KO Blow. And does 190 base dmg @ 50 vs 148 from KO blow (Brute numbers). Also it recharges faster and costs almost half the endurance.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah! ...and pair it with total focus for another 3+ seconds of do nothing animation and kill steal time just like the... other... attacks in SS.... hey wait.... At least whirling hands sucks uber balls vs. footstomp... hey...

Yes. EM is slow, but on a solo scrapper, IOed out for max performance. EP -> ET -> EP -> TF -> Repeat should be 200+ DPS.

So for the AV soloer's out there, it might not be to bad. But then, it's an expensive build.

I made a build in MiDS using EM/SR Brutes, so it's doable, if not expensive.

At 100 Fury (I just upped it to 100, not knowing quite where Brute Fury needs to be to equal Scrapper DPS...figured it was between 90 and 100)...that was a 211 or 214 DPS (others may be able to squeak out a little more).

Some of us just want the pink pom-pom glowie fists animations for our characters

I'll likely settle for ELM/ (made pink) untill I get it.
