160+ DPS if my math is right. And I wouldn't have thought of some of that slotting.
I assume Follow Up is helping with the low accuracy of some of the attacks. Enough to compensate for the low accuracy? -
I would like Kick animations for things such as Energy Melee, Electric Melee...ect.
Do an Eagle's Claw kick, but with lightning charged foot!
That's what I would love to have.
It would help give those of us with concepts that have unarmed combat training with their powers...and keep the comic book fighting styles in tacked. -
To be fair, I've seen older players who still don't know about Cim, who didn't AE up.
If it's because they don't read the patch notes, maybe they're returning from a hiatus. -
Quote:SR boosts flying as well last I knew.Lol ya. I am thinking of pairing Katana with Ele for the def buff. Dark seems like a great one also. -acc in every attack, a self heal in the DPS chain being backed up with the new power, double end drain (although dark consumption may be able to be skipped now for an auto hit end drain that has a much better recharge)
Choices, choices.
I jut noticed lighting reflexes allows a fly or run while quickness in SR only lets run. -
Quote:I've solo'd a handfull of AVs and am just over 40% on typed defense and same for melee defense with DA double stacked.
The DPS on my build at last check was roughly 175 which is more than sufficient for bringing down any AV that doesn't have major lethal resists.
With WP's bag of tricks it really just depends on where you decide to focus. You can focus on regen and probably be fine, or you can focus on defense and be able to take down those AVs. The resists are mainly to help it not hurt as bad when you do get hit.
Would it be possible to see this build? At 40% defense to all typed defenses, and still maintaining that high of DPS, I am impressed.
Admittedly, I have no plans to go Katana/WP with my build. But it might give me an idea to what I'm missing. -
Okay...how much defense should one plug into WP, for AV soloing?
I've been able to make softcap /WP's, but they have to sacrifice in DPS.
So, I would think with WP's regen, resists...ect would have to cover the lack of being softcappd. -
Thanks for the reply everyone
Was working on a build, and just trying to see if it would be better to grab the Leadership pool over what I was planning.
Sooo...back to the drawing board of getting what I want done with my build. -
Was curious which gave more damage.
The constant +DMG given by Assault or the periodic (but greater) +DMG given by Build Up at 30 second recharge? 20 Second? -
Quote:While I have found Electric Armor to be a terrible set for the ITF (which is my own personal testing ground for melee...I just love the ITF..probably my favorite TF)...I just can't see why everyone is so happy with electric armor. Even with the buff leaked from closed beta, it seems like one of the worst sets for me when it comes to... well, survival. It seems like the average resist set with endurance tool instead of health tool, the stupid tier 9 with a huge crash, and nothing really special about it.
When looking at numbers, i just can't picture how to make something even slightly survivable with it unless going full on the defense bonus with sets. It seems to compete with fire in the less survivable league but without the damage. Even energy aura seems very good compared to Ela.
So anyone could enlighten me on why electric armor is so awesome ?
...for the rest of the game, I think the heal might actually pull it through. I grabbed Tough/Weave, and found alot of /ELA's survival come at lvl 36, when I could have Power Sink slotted a bit, could run in, drain everything.
I just had to survive the alpha.
Solo, I never found /ELA all that bad. Still, it didn't pass my own survival test...but with the heal added in, it just might. At least it'll handle the alpha better than it did before with the heal -
Personally...I much prefere to keep the energy damage weakness and be able to cap NEgative Energy Resistance
But that's probably just me.

You using this chain for the added punches? If so, I might suggest to just wait till i16, when you can change some kicks to punches.

Quote:I take it, the lower on the list for DPS chains, the better the DPS gets? When I work up an AV soloing build I follow a few steps.
1. Soft-cap the defenses.
Yours are softcapped so lets move on to the next. Just watch your mind link recharge time, since your hasten is 20 seconds off perma.
2. Seamless attack chain
Not so much, this is pretty important if you want to kill an AV in a respectable amount of time. You could turn to the scrapper forum like mentioned above, but i'll save you the trouble. I'm not going to get into the math or talk about how much recharge is needed, plenty of posts on that around and i don't have it written out to copy and paste. The best DPA attack chains for night widows in order are
FU > Lunge > Slash > Strike > FU > Lunge > Strike > Slash > FU > Lunge > Strike > Swipe
Followup > Lunge > Strike > Swipe > Slash
Followup > Swipe > Lunge > Swipe > Slash
Followup > Lunge > Strike > Swipe
Followup > Swipe > Lunge > Swipe
3. Check your endurance consumption
After you have your attack chain figured out, look at the end/sec consumption of your attack chain and add it to the end consumption of your toggles. Then compare it to your end recovery rate. With a lot of build this is the major problem, maintaining damage is easy, maintaining endurance is tough. -
I'd like to see a passive version of Aim for Dual Pistols.
Call it "Smartlink", "Gunlink" or something in that vein.
I also love the idea of it being single target focused, with one ranged cone, and one PBAOE.
The PBAOE should be the nuke, but much like Rain of Arrows or Full Auto. Useable often without a full end drop.
That's what I would like to see anyways. -
Quote:That's not so much "balanced" as "powerful".
If that's your qualification, I'm gonna have to say either Brutes or Scrappers. Brutes get better peak performance in all categories, but some people, for reasons I've yet to understand, aren't capable of maintaining decent fury levels. For solo play, they're roughly the same, with a survivability edge and a slight damage edge for Brutes. Brutes also get most of the Tanker powersets (all but Ice melee) with a couple of the Scrapper sets thrown in for flavor (*/SR is all at the moment, Claws/* will come in I16).
Either way, for what you're wanting, either a Brute or Scrapper is your best bet. Pick based on the side you feel like playing the most. For a Scrapper, it's kinda hard to make a bad choice with your powersets. Any/Any can really be highly effective if you know how to play (*/Dark can screw with people's heads sometimes). For Brutes, it's generally best to avoid Energy Aura. Anything else is fine.
Hey. Dark Melee was a Scrapper set. -
Quote:216 for Martial Arts? Is that using alot of procs/+DMG? Using the chain of SK -> CK -> SK -> CAK?ABLE to obtain 188 DPS without Shield Defense? Here's what I have so far from my unfinished top end DPS comparison project using all Super Reflexes builds for a "level" playing field.
271 DPS - Dark Melee (saturated Soul Drain)
243 DPS - Katana
238 DPS - Dual Blades
227 DPS - Claws
217 DPS - Dark Melee (1 target for Soul Drain)
216 DPS - Martial Arts
212 DPS - Broad Sword
While I haven't checked the others yet, as a set known for damage, Fiery Melee is obviously going to make the grade. I don't know about Spines or Electric Melee. I should also note that these builds generally burn out their endurance after a couple minutes, so these numbers aren't sustainable against a Pylon or AV, for instance, at least with the builds I'm using for comparison.
Or changing CAK to Dark Blast? Looking at Dark Blast, it looks like it gives better DPS/DPA than CAK. My math could be wrong however.
Martial Arts and Electric Melee are the two sets I'm interrested in getting high DPS with i16. So I've been trying to plan them out.
Fire and Dark seem to be the winners however for DMG. But it's ELM and MA I'd like to try and get a high DPS build for...Elec Melee, I love redside, MA I love, but now it's getting punches so I'm likely to love it more. -

Good or bad idea to add in Gloom to a DPS string for Widows? I know on Brutes Gloom is all that for adding DPS, but what about Widows? -
...okay I have an avatar on another site...maybe I can't get it to link to other sites. Sooo...where is everyone else keeping their avatars to link to here, since I don't see an option to upload an avatar to here.
And 100x100 is the limit for avatars? I ask because I've seen some that look bigger. -
Okay next question...not taking Shield Defense into the equation...what sets can obtain 188 DPS?
Quills, Martial Arts and soon Elec Melee seem to be unable to get there.
I haven't been able to get Broadsword that high, but it may be possible.
Claws, Dark Melee, and Dual Blades can with alot of recharge.
Katana I can't recall if I was able to get that high or not. I don't think I was.
Did I forget anything? Am I wrong on these? -
Quote:End Game WP TankerSo I've read some very mixed views on comparing the two defensive sets. Some have said Stone is clearly better as you can softcap defense and cap S/L resistance as well as getting your other resistances mighty close. Your only weakness is Psionics. Others have said that Granite is far too crippling to be considered better than WP. Willpower, after all, gives more endurance recovery, an auto-boost to max HP and very well-rounded defenses (including the achilles' heel of Stone, Psionics).
So what I'm asking is which set is better, and why? I don't expect to get a definite answer, as opinions will vary, but I want to know what people think.
To clarify, I'm talking end-game, all-round effectiveness. So don't go saying "WP is better off in the beginning" or something similar. I want Granite's obvious weaknesses accounted for. Also, I'm not seeking "which is better in extreme situations" answers. Because when it comes down to tanking a horde of monsters in Tempest Quay, Granite clearly gets the nod.
vs
End Game Granite Tanker
Yup, you can softcap all those defenses (except to Psi) and have capped (or nearly so) resistance to all dmg types (except to Psi), have Dull Pain heal and a Regen aura. But with all those negatives! :/
With WP, you can softcap all those defenses, cap the HP, and have better Regen than the Granite Tanker!
There is nothing a IO'ed out Granite tanker can stand up to, that an IO'ed out WP tanker can't stand up to in my experience.
the breaking point then becomes NEGATIVES + Better Taunt Aura vs Worst Taunt Aura in game.
Personally, I prefere WP. I don't care for Stone's negatives and I like that I can see my costume with WP. -
-
...okay, during the forum downtime, I tried to figure this out on my own, but failed miserably.
Which set(s) can get to 188 DPS with the least amount of recharge needed?
