Quote:You realize those free powers, really aren't that great. 57 month vet here, and the vet power I always grab and use is the one power, any player can get with just a little patience. It's a marketing tool to make people that have been playing for five years feel more important than those that have been playing for less than five years.
Oh, and it gives them a free power, the bastards.
Base Teleport.
Sands of Mu? Handy at the beginning levels. Not so much in the later levels, when I can slot my other powers for ACC.
The other ones? I grabbed the Axe on one, just because it fit the concept for the character to have one other weapon besides the sword.
The staffs? Only my MA/Shield has kept the Staff (Nemesis in her case), for actual game play, and that's just because of concept reasons I could see her having it.
The Vet Pets? Again, I've only grabbed them for the ones I thought it made since to use because of their concept.
The one's that give a benefit, really don't last long.
The less influence/infamy used at the tailor isn't really all that terrible of a vet reward. I like that one, but I make costume switches all the time. And before getting it, all it meant was a bit more influence used.
However, there is one vet reward I hate to miss out (and am thankful that I'm not) and that's the belly shirts. But I was asking for that before vet rewards. And that one does nothing to make the Vets have a power advantage over the lower level vets. -
I didn't see it posted on the first page, so I'll just mention it incase no one else did.
If you find yourself leveling to fast, but don't want to turn off the XP. Level Pact with someone who has no intention of leveling the toon.
You just halved your xp -
Depends on my mood really. I have no problem taking the star and leading the team (did this just today).
Other times, I won't say "Not me", but will take it if the leader quits, and it's just dropped on me. -
Quote:I bet my Katana/Regen can get a hit on you. Even my Claws/Regen. In fact, any of my 50 scrappers will get at least one hit on you. This I know.To various posters above.
Ive watched dm/sr vids back in I3 n I4 solo'n AV's. I dont remember if insp were used and which AV's but I have seen it.
Its not called melolee for nothing in pvp.
Ive spent 1000's of hours in pvp in all iterations in this game. I'll play any toon and that fire/rgn wont get any attack on me if I dont choose to let it. /regen is the only reason to consider it for pvp.
You realize, Scrappers get ranged attacks too, right? -
I agree. It needs fixed or changed.
That said, I use it as a immobilize protection all the time. I also use it on AVs/GMs that don't run from it.
All on my ELM/FIRE Scrapper.
I have a Fire/Fire Tanker, and a Fire/SS Tanker as well, but I haven't played those two since Burn was made to scatter really. Pulled out my Fire/Fire every now and again, but...she's no fun to play really. :/ -
My fastest is 1:03. Though I've never actually tried to speed run it, either.
That was the team just going in, and killing things. -
Quote:But Dispari, using real names is sucky! :PI sort of agree, and disagree. I know it's annoying to try and come up with a name that's not taken. I tried to get the name Black Jackal once. I had to go through every synonym for "black" I could find. Black, Dark, Ebon, Night, Shadow, Midnight, Twilight, Cloudy, Gloom, Inky, Murky, Gray. Yeah.
On the other hand, when that happens I tell myself that I'm just not being creative enough. True a lot of our classic heroes have some pretty boring names. Spiderman... Batman... Superman...! But if I have to name myself Bl4ck Jackal, that means there's already a Black Jackal out there. And I should really be thinking more outside the box.
Most of my characters have real names. Dispari Scuro, Riley Tiranis, Sudona Forte, Roxy Phydeaux, Itsumi Charr, Victoria Noir. I never go wrong with names like that.
Though, since alot of my toons is my main rerolled, I've renamed all the 50 alts to a version of her real name...so as long as people aren't looking for her real name for their toon, should be good. -
My suggestion...
Fire/Regen
or
Katana/Regen
When your ready to IO, get as much +RCH as you can.
MOG should be up enough to give lots of defense.
Fire Melee will have issues against AVs like Inferno (I believe), and FIRE ARMOR PvPers.
However, Fire Melee won't have issues with redraw.
I'd go the Fire Melee/Regen Route for that issue alone. -
Quote:That would be cool. Id rather just have the ability to keep all non-offensive toggles, toggles on (besides the travel powers of course).I think BaB read "recovery" instead of "discount" as another suggestion floating around has been to give walk a small health/endurance recovery bonus, sort of like a "walking rest."
With my COrr, I could turn on walk during a mission and be all fine.
My Scrapper on the other hand :/
Okay, I could with my scrapper, but I didnt want to toggle on 6 toggles over and over.
I did use it on my scrapper for not in combat times though -
Electric Armor didn't even come with Immobilize Protection to begin with. And with my Elec/Elec Brute, I never got Immobilized with just grounded, as long as they didnt tag me when I was jumping.
Then I'd get immobilized, but be right out of it as soon as I landed. -
-
But I love the double punch animation!
-
I love it
Went and did some flashback missions. Everytime I entered Oro, I hit the walk toggle and walked over to the Crystals.
And used it in a mission as much as possible, since I was on my Corrupter, who had no toggles to retoggle. -
Quote:I was thinking of going this route. IO sets on the PvP build, and GEN IOs on the PvE.I mean for PvE i would take all the buffs but this is the PvP boards xD. Ever thought about using the second build for PvE and just using SO's in it? That way you can spec your first build for pure PvP and slot it out nicely. You will still do great in PvE on SO's anyway..
-
Quote:Well, I made the toon as a concept. I have some friends who want to PvP. However, they're all pretty much duelers/fight clubers (with a little team PvP).Erm why no aim? This also looks like it's built for team purposes. If so then you might want to pick up forge. I would take forge even if i was making this elec/therm for dueling. The shields aren't really that great anymore..Sadly. As the res it offers is quite low when put on top of the pvp res bonus.
Personally i would drop Spirit Jaws for Aim. You already have Tesla cage as your hold and way of detoggling your opponent and with tesla recharing in under 4 seconds you don't need another hold.
The pet is usefull from your patron once you forge it. Assuming you're going to be dueling? Afterall you are on an elec/therm :P
So what I was trying to do, was mix a PvP build with some PvE. Hence the shields.
Though after yesterday's PvE teaming and having so many ask not to be shielded, I wonder if I should even take the shields for PvE purposes now. :/ -
Quote:I don't know Sam. I like the idea of no War Walls. Then I wouldn't have to take the tram on some occaissions (which I have never really cared for, when playing a hero). My goodness... Mouse, please understand I mean this with the utmost respect, but I really, really, REALLY dislike very much everything in that list. I don't want to get into detailed explanations, because there's no real point, but I just gotta' say, I pretty much disagree with you completely and would actually hate to see a lot of those done to the game.

Quote:New faces wouldn't hurt. Even if they're anime style. Admittedly, I wouldn't mind the anime look. But as someone who finds only a a couple of the faces likeable (Young Face 6, I use for 98% of my toons)...more faces equal a good thing.I think that would be appropriate for the City of Manga game, not CoH.
Also...what's wrong with City of Manga? We already have City of WoW, if you look around at some of the heroes being made. :P -

Quote:I swear I get that look from using Disco Bottoms. One thing? Thigh high socks.
Now it would be nice if we could get Baggy Socks without the sandals, with the toes exposed. But admittedly, I'd just love them for my CLAWS/EA Brute right now. -
YAY! GOOD JOB DEVS!
*snaps whip*
Now get back to work!

Are the pets taken for the set bonuses, or are they actually useful in PvP?
-
Quote:A couple of reasons:
First one is easy - certain people, myself among them, do not want to be exposed to active PvP. We don't go to the PvP zones for a reason. The mere presence of PvP changes attitudes and alters the nature of the game, even if you can avoid it.
Secondly, it's just ugly to have villains in hero zones committing crimes and destroying property and not be able to do anything about it because you suck at PvP. It'd yank me clear out of my state of immersion. Granted, high-level NPC villains sort of do that, too, but all they do is stand around. If we had villains UNDERCOVER in hero zones so you couldn't tell they were villains (which might be an option with Going Rogue) then I can see that, but PvP is, again, out of the question.
While I can't agree with immerssion part (could always be the villain is better than the hero, and thus why the hero cant beat him...how is that immerssion breaking?).
I do agree with the attitude change. Don't need the sad talk from PvPers who cant win gracefully or the winners who cant win the same way, -
Cold...Dark...Thermal...Rad...pick one and you win
Assuming of course, the rest of the team isnt underslotted/in the red...ect..ect...and know what they're doing.
