With flashbacks, you get drops that are leveled according to the mission arc you are running (though end of mission rewards will be your own level). Additionally, you are earning merits which can be used to roll for still more rewards of any level you like. Pair this with the fact that you have access to powers up to 5 levels above the level you are fighting at, which means faster/easier kill rates.

The ability to choose your arc also gives you some control over the types of drops you will be getting. Want more magic salvage? Run some CoT or Tsoo arcs.

Finally, I know that mid-level drops have always been the most profitable on the market, but with more and more people taking advantage of that, at some point the paradigm could shift. If your XP is locked at 22, then you will need to level up in order to get to the content that provides the new "in demand" drops. If you are using flashbacks, you are still leveling the entire time, so may well already be in a good position to start farming the newly desired drops immediately.

The only drawback I see to using Ouroboros is that blue side content tends to have arcs which require more "Kill X <Insert Enemy Group Name Here>" missions and cross-zone arcs. I can see this having a small impact on farming time, but with the faster killing and merits being earned, there seems to be ample compensation to make up for it.

Is there something else that I am missing here?

Sadly, no...you can't choose the level of your random roll recipe.

If I'm at level 50, and I random roll for a rare recipe, in the lvl 20-25 range (as an example)...I'll roll for all recipes that can be gotten at those levels, but I'll get them at highest level of that recipe (for instance if the recipe can be gotten at lvls 20-50, I will get that recipe at lvl 50).

Though I don't know why one would want to stay at 22 for recipes other than LotG: +7.5% RCH, Numina Unique, and Miracle Unique.

I'd personally stop leveling at lvl 30 or 33, depending on whether or not the recipes go up +3 levels or not on random rolls.

    Furry fun in Two Kinds

    Supernatural fun in Eerie Cuties

Risque fun in Menage a 3 16+ for this one.

    Space fun in School Bites

and lastly, Catgirl fun in Science Ninja Action Team: Cosmic Hellcats

    Not my complete list...but there's a few
  4. Hmmm...let's see...

    Rogue: Ranged/Defense AT

    Hit Points: Low (Same as Defenders/Controllers/Dominators: Base - 1017.4 Max - 1606.4)
Damage: High (Lower than Blasters, Higher than Corrupters)
    Inherent: Sneaky (Crit from hide)

Primary: Ranged Attacks (Remove Snipe Power or Mez Power if no Snipe for Placate)
Secondary: Same as Stalkers (Which may mean no shields!)

    Epics Layout:

41 Melee Attack (Med-High Damage Single Target Attack)

41 Target Ally Buff (+5.65% All Defense or +7.5% All Resist or +25% Rec/Rch ...which one it is, would depend on the set)

44 Single Target Immobilize (which immobilize would depend on theme of Epic Pool)

44 Single Target Hold (same as Immobilize)

47 Enemy Debuff (-Resist, -Defense, -Speed/Rch, -toHit, -Regen, -Damage...theme of Epic Pool set, would determine which Debuffs)

...With the Stalkers original Crit from Hide as the only inherent, they would need to either rehide (after 8 seconds of not being hit or not hitting anyone themselves), or use Placate. However, one has to remember, Placate has a range of 50ft (3 lvl 50 Range IOs get it's to just under 80ft).

So, they can't stay at 80ft range to Placate. I'd even encourage lowering the range, so when slotted with Range IOs, it only gets about 40-50ft max. Why? If they want the crit, it forces them to stay closer and not at max range (thus relying on their Defense set to cover their low HP).

Another idea for the AT is give Scourage style crits in addition to Crit from Hide, with High Threat rating on the attacks. Not more than a Brute or Tankers...but enough that if the enemy is hit by a Blaster attack and the same one used by the Rogue, it would aggro on the Rogue.

Maybe a low duration taunt on all attacks. You're no Tank, but oooh how the enemy likes to treat you like one when one isn't around.

Why no snipe? You're able to hide, and shoot from range to land a crit. Pick an attack, that's your snipe. :P

With Stalker Secondaries, the AT loses out on Quick Recovery, and has to get into Melee to use the other +END powers.

Now one could say they could softcap a defense set, and survive in Melee. True. But a few lucky hits, and it's lights out.

The general knowledge, cited over and over about why there are no good resistance set bonuses is that the Devs considered combination of resistances plus defenses was considered too powerful.

It seems like resistance sets can get much closer to having both than defense sets ever will.

But most people consider them much weaker than defense sets. What am I missing?
Probably that it's much harder to obtain a REALLY REALLY NICE DPS attack chain, when you focus on softcapping a from zero

Though...that said, last I checked, the build I have for a DARK/SONIC defender has 30% Melee/AOE, 45% Ranged (maybe a little more), the end to run and attack, and a good DPS string...with Darkest Night to cover with -toHIT. Oh, how I love playing that Defender, and it's not even at peak yet. But I start IOing at lvl 30.

Torture, blood letting, are things you consider 17+, but I've seen done on such shows as NCIS.

    Which is oddly, not 17+.

It's not the act, it's the details that make the rating.

Look at old west movies. Bunch of people shot and killed. But it's just from one bullet, and they fall down dead.

Now turn it into Rambo, seeing graphic details of what a anti-tank gun can do to a human body, and you get an R rating.

For a SO or GEN IO, using build...if you have the END...think using Tough to stack with the epic armor isn't that bad. Not anymore, when your toggles don't drop from getting mezzed.

Weave however, just doesn't seem worth it, for so little defense.

Now, if building for Defense with Set IOs, I think it's worth it.
  9. I think you're misunderstanding some of the comments.

I know when I say a build will be better with IOs, is because people see something a set will do, and think that's how it works ALL the time.

SHIELD/ tanks for instance, I've found to not be all that great on something without backup, if they're missing a few things. No Tough/Weave. Oh, without the buffers/debuffers to cover, I've seen them fall pretty easily.
  10. First, I don't find /WP to be the best secondary for PvPing...that said, I use it anyways.

Here's how I'd likely do it for PvP. PvE I'd normally try to get +Defense IO set bonuses...but with DR and all the +TOHIT...I'm going more along these lines for WP...

This is actually the stupidest retort you can have.

By this same token, when some lights me ablaze with a fire blast, I'd be running.

So what's the difference between Fire Blast & Burn to not cause massive running?

While I'm not sure whether or not Fire/Shield is more popular than Electric/Shield (better AoE) or Dark Melee/Shield (better AV soloer), I think a lot of players like the fact that it's a good compromise choice between for those who like AoE and single target. It is however easy to see that it has become a very popular varinat of scrapper.
Well, don't forget, Fire Melee/ requires less recharge for it's best ST DPS...and going with less recharge for a few other strings, doesn't really make that big of a difference in ST DPS.

At first glance Shield look fantastic, Def Softcap capability, AAO and shield charge and a bonus to HP and Resistance, where SR just has Defense. Sadly, howver, Shield doesnt have as much Resistance to Def Debuff. The Res to Def Debuff is the whole allure to SR for me, even if I do feel a bit lacking in the DPS department. Now I'm notmuch of an AV soloer or anything like that, but I'll have to agree with Werner on Dark Melee. The Self Heal is so nice when coupled with a defense heavy set, not to mention the inherent -ToHit debuffs on the enemies will stack nicely with your own defense toggles. ANother factor to keep in mind is end game resistance. Katana, for example, does entirely lethal damage, which is the most commonly resisted damage type. Dark Melee has a rather large Negative Energy Component that feels very nice, even if it does lack tools such as Soaring Dragon and The Lotus Drops. In this case it feels entirely based on preference, so just pick what you you'd like to try and see how it fits.
Oddly enough, with Scrapper damage, while Lethal is heavily resisted, it's not noticed nearly as bad as people make it sound.

Most of the electric powers and a couple kin powers (Transfusion and Transference) take end mod slots, which means you can add "Chance to stun" procs in them and really stack effects.

Rad: Quick attacks which reduce your targets defenses means you're more likely to hit with your Kin buffs and debuffs. Min/max wise this is a very good combo, though the damage from rad does feel weak. Again though, you have buffs for that.

Sonic: Your buffs + Sonic -Res + Sonic Sleep = Fulcrum shift in total safety and maximum damage output. However, you're already leveling a dark/sonic so perhaps this isn't best for you personally.

Those are my top three picks, anyway.
Hmmm...right now /Ice, /Elec and /Dark seem to be the way to go.

/Energy annoys me with the knockback.

/Rad I'd love if I didn't have to take Neutrino Bolt (I know it's good, I just don't like using it :P X-Ray Beam is more fun).

The thought of /Psychic doesn't appeal on the fact that /PSI resist enemies just annoy me when up against them.

    And yeah, I have Dark/Sonic and a Traps/Sonic...so...I don't need another /Sonic.

I am assuming all of those pretty high DPS numbers for shield scrappers are with a fully saturated AAo or close to the 10? While nice that is not really a standard sadly...

And right I'd definitely want survivability also, but that shouldn't be terrible with whatever I pick.

But no, I'm not necessarily sold on super reflexes, just back when I made it I thought it would be the best for raw ST DPS not to mention easy to softcap.

You don't need to reach the softcap on every Secondary, to have amazing survival.

My DB/WP (build posted in a recent thread) just stood there while the WL attacked her, no problem, without being softcapped.

Assuming Generic IO slotting (I'll likely slam some sets into it, but just go off the idea that it will just use Generic IOs)...which set should I do?

So, anything besides Archery or Assault Rifle.

This is my current build (Hover will be replaced by Fly at the end of the month...60 month vet on the 28th).

Of the IOs listed, I'm missing the 2 PvP IOs, 1 Numina Heal/Rch, and 7 of the purple IOs (unlucky streak with getting them lately...grrr).

However, I'm starting to wonder, is FA needed? The set bonuses are nice...but I wouldn't be opposed to trying to fit Typhoon's Edge into the build.

I'd lose FA and Physical Perfection. Which, if FA isn't needed for AVs, I'd be more than willing to lose them, just to get in TE because I LOVE LOVE LOVE that animation.
  21. I'd pay 10 dollars just to have the new Rikti weapon skins.

The only Rikti weapon skin that looks good imo, is the Axe.

The crystal spines absorb light, solar energy, and electrical disscharges, and store it all for the lightning that cascades off of them, making a lightning aura.

That said...I totally admit to not trusting some powerset combos for certain things, untill Ive seen the player in action. But some sets are easier than others.
  23. *runs around hysterically* The invansion is returning *flails*
  24. As someone from San Diego (even if not living there anymore)...Chargers!

As someone who hasn't really watched any sport since leaving San Diego, I hope whatever teams that do go, that the AFC team wins

Then throw Fire Melee or Lightning Melee into the mix,and there pretty much unstoppable in missions and farms....unless there net fails or the game crashes on them, causing there death...(Crosses Fingers)

I guess im just picky,i dont really enjoy a set/s that makes the game so little of a challenge, that everyone and there grandmother are using it.

With all the power sets in the game, and costume options, the ability to change the color of powers..and even some of the animations for a few sets...whats the point of picking the same thing everyone else has already?I figure if people wanted that kind of narrow choice in a game, they would stick with WoW,or EQ or something like that, where choices are very limited....Ahh well,im just rammbling now....cheers!
The set is good. It's balanced. And it's a cool option. Sadly, my one complaint about it, is that alot people who use it, basically make their concept "Look I'm from WoW/Forgotten Realms/D&D in general/Sparta...ect"
