Hmmm...some fun ideas for changes!
Brutes - Lower Max Resist to 85%, Lower Damage Cap to 750%, raise base resists 2% and defense 1% to all applicable powers (basically what Castle was going to do in GR, but also increase defense for the more defense oriented sets).
Scrappers - Raise Damage Cap +50%, Raise Resist Cap to 80%
Stalkers - Raise Damage Cap +50%
Tankers - Raise Damage Cap +50%, raise damage scale +.5, give even higher threat so they're not having aggro ripped from them by a shield scrapper or blaster.
Blasters - Raise Melee Damage Scale to 1.125, raise Damage Cap +50%
All other ATs - Raise Damage Cap +50%
Look at that, a round of buffs for everyone.
Brutes do get a small hit in max damage (which solo wise most wouldn't notice) and max resists (which only FA and ELA would notice solo wise against their respective element). But get higher resist/defense solo than Scrappers/Stalkers.
In team play max damage may be noticed, but it wouldn't be that big of a hit, while still being OMG INVINCIBLE with a team buffing them.
As for the raise in damage cap to all...eh...wouldn't most only notice on teams with +DMG anyways, and players love damage!
Then give all enemies a +10-25% HP increase! -
Quote:Well they get better debuffs for some of the debuffs anyways. That's funny.
You countered utter bullcrap with.......utter bullcrap.
Defenders are still plenty useful. Most people who play Defenders understand that their primary role on a team is to buff and debuff things.
A player who whines that Corruptors deal more damage than Defenders.....doesn't know how to play a Defender.
I know this because probably 75% of the Corruptors I see ignore their secondary and act like a lower damage Blaster. I would say those players don't know how to play a Corruptor either. Then they play a Defender and the only thing they see is the lower damage.
Hint: You don't invite a Defender when you want more damage. Unless you want the ENTIRE TEAM to deal more damage. Defenders get better values out of all their buffs and debuffs than any other AT. -
-
Quote:A player with their own ideas?Part of your "fix" requires nerfing another AT? Not only no, but HELL EFFING NO! And who the hell are you to say where Brutes are "supposed to be"?
Not to mention the devs at one point wanted to do it. GR Beta, they were going to lower the Brutes max resist.
Then there was lots of whining. I think mostly from hardcore, I only play Brutes, players.
On the plus side, with that nerf, they were going to raise the base resists of power sets (I believe by 2%)
I was for the lowering of max Resist myself, didn't think it needed the raising of anything, but, I did think I'd rather see an increase across the board of all the resists of all the sets with resists as being more useful in general game play than a 90% resist cap, that only a couple of sets could reach on their own to specific resistances (FA=Fire, ELA=Elec).
And really, in my experience playing Brutes/Tankers who can reach 90% Resist now, 85% would of been awesome, still likely had hardcore tanker only players going "Brutes are still better tanks" (Those Scrappers can reach Tanker levels of survival with a cap of 75 afterall!)
As for the damage cap on Brutes, I don't know yet. We know they're basically at Scrapper numbers (or exceeding), but if that's just with the use of Gloom for the most part, I'd leave it were it's at.
Besides hitting the damagecap for a Brute, is that even possible solo, without munching down a lot of reds? If so, the damage cap likely doesn't need to be lowered.
But there's those who will continue to argue "Kin on team!" which in my experience is not a common thing anymore. -
Quote:I agree. I want to see those elemental epics made, so one can have those Fire/Thermal/Fire Corrs, and Ice/Cold/Ice Corrs and defender variants. As well as a temp power, but I think most folks are looking for a more permanent solution. I really wish they would create an Ice APP for Defenders/Corruptors. Not even so much for the shield, but I have a Defender that's Ice/Ice and I want to keep with the theme. She has Scorpion shield so that would be a wash.
But for those who hate going redside to get the patron powers, there is an option to get a S/L Defense shield (I used it on my DB/WP as a way to minimize defense debuffs when I wasnt trying silly things, like no temp powers/inspiration use) without going redside. -
Quote:I think an almost 10 year gap though could have easily had her "originally envisioned" changed to "something else entirely"The wiki lists Uncanny X-Men #265 from August 1990 as the issue that confirmed them as an official couple.
Honestly 1990 seems pretty early on, like she was at the forefront of the movement to include LGBT characters in comics. (Maybe it only seems that way to me cause I was only 8 in 1990.)
Kinda like how Wolverine was originally envisioned to be a mutant wolverine. -

Yeah, I always took the Celestial Back Pieces as intentionally looking mystical. And have used them as such, since I got them.

O.O Hmmm...wonder if we can make the witchtop with that program.

I don't mind this change, and could be quite a bit more fun on MMs, since you wouldn't be looked into the Archer Ninja, or the Rifle toting Robotics MM.
Sadly, I bet it would be considered to much work. -
Quote:Eh, Nemesis going on about My Little Pony, just doesn't seem to be Lord Nemesis, no matter how much people may like the idea of a My Little Nemesis War Pony.I found it funny..as did the people on my league, broadcast, and Help chan.... then again I also realize this is just a game and not reality.
But the event themselves, I do like, when rednames come out and interract with the community. That itself is awesome! -
While I have no interrest in this. Remakes are not always bad.
I thought the miniseries, The Shining, with Steven Weber, was better than the movie version with Jack Nicholson. -
Quote:Agreed.Eh, I can see where the guy's coming from, but I still think I'd have preferred a new gay character over the "coming out" of an existing character.
The main reason why is that depending on how it's handled and how the character continues to be written I'm just afraid that if the character's storyline takes a turn for the worse, it'll be associated with the change in sexuality even if the parts people don't like are completely unrelated to that specific change.
It's one thing for a new gay character to just not turn out well but I just don't want the possible decline of a favorite kind of character to be linked to their being made gay.
Sadly, I think the companies are afraid if the title bombs and they drop the title and ditch the character, they'll be ridiculed for ditching the character.
This way, they can sort of keep him, but move him to background character if need be.
Or maybe this is there way of making sure they don't abandon the character if it fails.
Saddly, outside of the first couple of issues, I don't think this will do anything for their sales.
Also, after some thought, I'm glad they're not outing wonder woman. Talk of Amazon characters being an island of all women, but rewatching the Wonder Woman animated movie (looking at their sales I seem to be one of the few to own it) the island didn't come off like that all. And neither did some of the issues I've read in the past.
Of course, they retconned lots of things with 52, so I guess that's always subject to change.
Also, once outed, I don't think they can undo it, due to backlash from non readers. -
A member of my SG did a good job of this with a female character. Hmmm...male one seems like it might be a bit harder.
Max out the waist, physique and hip sliders.
Minimum chest, leg and shoulder sliders.
Use the jacket (uniform seems a good one, but other jackets work, like sweater vest) top.
For the bottom use pants, likely baggy pant, khakis, slacks, club and regular pants.
That seems to give them more of a "fat" look that you're going for. -
Quote:Well then, having a character who never showed signs of it, then writing up backstories for it, or past scenes but with a little different perspective, is just bad then. No, it would only be a retcon if they had the character as always gay when the character was previously not gay. A sudden outing would be a change to the character, and one that could be handled badly, (though hopefully not the way they choose to handle it) - but it wouldn't be a retcon.
It'll be just as bad as a retcon.
Of course this all depends on the character. There's bound to be characters who they can choose, who they haven't reintroduced before now, that were never shown in any type of relationship and who never talked about getting into one.
"I'm a hero. I fight crime. I am justice. These are mya dventures."
and then...
"Oh...want to know about my personal life?"
Then no, I wouldnt consider that a retcon.
But maybe it's my being cynical, I expect it to be more like "Oh? Chasing after and sleeping with all those women. Being engaged. The love of my life. Never once thinking of anything to contradict that. Yeah, I just decided, I'm totally gay now!"
Basically it'd be if they decided Peter Parker was now gay and came out. Never mind all the inner monlogue that would contradict it. -
Quote:I think Battleship would of done a lot better if it wasn't for Avengers. It's the type of movie that can sell tickets. But it was up against a juggernaught...errr...hulk...of a movie. How are we getting all these "this movie will suck" comments when it hasn't come out? You've seen a couple of trailers (which, btw, already look better than the previous movie, which wasn't that bad), and that's it.
This probably has more to do with getting the most bang for their promotional budget, which is where the real cost of big-budget movies is. Battleship might have earned poorly in the box office so far, but it's the huge marketing campaign and its huge price tag that's making the studio take a bath. There was (and is) going to be a huge marketing push for the new Joe movie, so getting it to a less-crowded spot on the calendar, while also making it as good as it can be in the editing room, is a smart move that doesn't have much to do with how good or bad this movie is.
Personally, I think this movie will suffer from having come second. If it were the original Joe movie, we'd all be much more enthused about it. It can be a good movie and still not perform because of it's weaker sister movie.
This is a movie I was planning to watch this summer, and moving it hasn't changed my mind about it. In fact, that's a good thing for my wallet. One less movie to have to come up with the bucks for in a short amount of time.
When Battleship was schelduled to be released, I'm sure the studios thought the attention of Avengers would die down by the second week. They were wrong.
Now, I'm not saying Battleship would of broken records, but it is the big summer blockbuster type of movie, and if people gave it a chance, if they're the types that liked Transformers/ID4/ect would likely enjpy it.
Avenges I'm sure they thought was going to be a hit. The surprise I'm sure, is that it turned out to be a bigger hit than they thought.
GI Joe, moving it was a good idea. It's going to have to go up against Avengers which seems to be steamrolling, and quickly followed by other action block busters.
Moving it to March I think will make for a good move (I of course could be wrong), and will see increased sales as people get a big summer blockbuster movie, in March! -
For the titles I've picked up, I continue to hope they get better, while at the same time, hate some of the changes that have been done.
Grifter was one of my favorites from Wildstorm/Image days, so I hope that becomes better. Hasn't felt to much like the Grifter I fell in love with though :/
They do this big reboot, have Wildstorm as part of the DC universe, and yet still can't seem to bring back the Wildstorm characters?I want my original Gen13 and DV8!
Saddened by the changes to Starfire. While I HATE the Shortpack comic now, and doubt turning Starfire into her Teen Titan Cartoon counterpart would getting any extra readers, the change for Starfire does suck, and if they had changed her, why not change her to be more like the cartoon version?
But I like what I've read of the Red Hood so far to keep interrested, I dont agree with all the changes at all.
Harkey Quinn's change is...okay still undecided. I like the idea of her showing off her intelligence, I like the idea of her reforming to be a hero, and I don't hate the new costume, but it isn't superhero/villain at all.
While the costume would likely be great for a new character, I still wish to have the old Harley back, instead of them trying to bring in Arkam Asylum's Harley (which had a better outfit anyways)
So Suicide Squad lends itself to being like the Red Hood for me. However, I'd prefere a stable cast of characters and not the kill members off way (though I dont care for all the members anyways).
Over all changes have left me feeling meh, but I've been giving the titles that interrest me a chance. -
Quote:It's a retcon if there's no lead up to it and he/she comes out and says "Oh hey! I'm gay now!"I think this is a strong possibility, but is his JSA going to be in the New 52 Universe proper? I thought it was going to be Earth 2 - I'd say that it would be hard to be especially prominent in something other than the main setting. James Robinson or Gale Simone would be the people I think most capable of writing something of quality here.
Also - I'm not sure that some one coming out as gay when they've been with the opposite sex is necessarily a retcon. I mean, unless people can retcon in real life.
I just hope this gives them that added readership that they're trying to get with this. I doubt it will, but I do hope for the best from it! -
Quote:They do count! At least to the list for gays/bis in comics.Since Xavin and Mystique are shapeshifters, do they even count? Xavin was even introduced as male until "his" bride-to-be said she liked girls.
I would also like to add Maggie Sawyer and the Pied Piper to your small list.
To Agent White. It's a small list because the list of superheroes/villains isn't that big to begin with.
I was keeping to DC/Marvel with that list (Rainmaker was Wildstorm, but to my knowledge Wildstorm is DC now, so I put Rainmaker in the list), and it seems to keep within the percentages. So why would it be some huge list, as your post seems to say it should be? -
Quote:When I say gimmick, I was going by a redname saying "new sets will have gimmicks" so I'm guessing Absorb is a gimmick.Yeah, I'm sure that's what I meant.
Doesn't make any difference, you still have to find some way to make the set different from the existing sets, whether it be appearance or game-play (preferably both). Which means you will eventually need "gimmicks".
Is "absorb" a gimmick?
As for apperance of Bio Armor, I can see two ways to go, but hopefully we will get both as an option.
For example, lets consider the S/L shield (Hardened Carapace?). This could be spine and ribs that come out of the body (using a similar method as Rock Armor) (as in the above drawing, or the armor worn by vaz reapers). But you would probably want a less "meaty" version as well. Alblative carapace could cover the body with tendrils (similar to Hoarfrost FX, or neo-Shivans), which could be coloured red for veins or green for plants (or whatever). and so on.
Hmmm...but I did come up with an interresting gimmick for a Defense set...will have to make a suggestion on it in the suggestion thread.
