But for the eras under discussion there isn't a lot of fiddly detail involved- tights are tights, patterns are patterns. As noted Golden Age is underrepresented, but we have a pile of great stuff for Silver Age looks.

Is it going to look "dated" next to, say, the Mecha VIP set?
I guess, but they're not the same thing and I don't see that mattering.

I'm on board with wanting more Golden & Silver Age options and expect we'll be getting them at some point. I don't see the point of haranguing the devs just now, as they've been shoveling out long-sought game improvements and additions as fast as their arms can move.
People just want a bit of deffinition. For instance. Tights in the comics still have a sort of "this is clothes" feel to them. Patent Leather doesn't (to me) have that problem and it's just as old.

Note I'm talking about the leg options here. I find the Patent Leather top to be terrible :/
  3. Hmmm...could allow it so the passive bonus of Hybrid that is always on, stays with you the whole time. I don't recall the passive bonus being game breaking.

Now see, that is already leaps and bounds a better way to do things.

Even just killing MJ off would be better!

Here's the sad part really. They killed her off, but brought her back because fans didn't like it?

But they'll do a story that fans hate more and stick to it?

Now I'm the Spidey fan who wants Peter with Felicia anyways, but I don't want a bad storyline like that to make it a possibility (even if it isnt one )

Spidey would never make a deal with the devil and MJ never would of made a deal with the devil. Though, I could totally buy into the devil putting the deal out there.
  5. Rachel Summers is one of my favorite X-Men, I hope they get someone who does her justice! Also I hope they don't neglect her hellhound markings!

Though, if they keep with their current storyline, I can't help but think it won't be anything but totally different anyways.

Seriously, the problem with most sadistic scenarios like this is that there is no leverage, no repercussions for the villain, no guarantees of anything, and no morality of the villain to stop them from doing anything more insane than what has already transpired. You're stuck in a world with a malignant god with no way to fight back. They want you to play the game, so you don't play the game.
Not playing the game that way also means you let them win.

When you can play the game as you try to figure out a way to fight back. You either get out, die anyways, or you get out alive while able to get revenge/justice/what have you on the one who put you in that place.

Sometimes getting out alive is the only reward. Sometimes justice doesn't get dealt.
  7. The funny part of all this?

"OMG! It's only been a couple of years and they're already making a sequal?"

"OMG! It's been to many years and they're going to make a sequal?"

Point being, making a sequal will have people on both sides complaining.

When all that needs to be done is for them to make a fun and entertaining movie

SS doesn't go from trash to WTF due to one power. It goes from trash to nice with one power. It goes from trash to WTF need with the right defense set, power pool, and IOs.
  9. Hmmm...

Tanker Rage: +20% ToHit, +80% DMG

Why not go the route of turn it into a Passive +10% ToHit and +70% DMG, while increasing Super Strengths base damage by an additional 50-70%?

    Then it's instant perma!

Mind you, I think Super Strength is fine as is, most complaints about SS are based more around what SS with Rage can do when combined with 1 Defense set and a Pool Power

Also if they increased it's base damage wouldn't they need to adjust the attacks END or RCH if not both the END/RCH?
  10. Yes! I want these! I'm sure people are tired of seeing my main in Large boots >_>

Also has resists to everything. Lacks a click self heal (Stalker version doesnt admittedly) which makes a difference between toggle and go and pay a bit attention to when you need to hit that clickie.

Typed defense (ie...deflecting) isn't positional defense (ie...dodging). It's all about the feel of the set.

It's not an exact match, but close enough: never trust anything that can think for itself if you can't see where it keeps its brain.
In RL if I saw something like that, no. I probably wouldnt trust it.

I'd be like Bones in ST "Trust a transporter?! You're joking right?!"

But again. I was just going along with the question that said "You did buy it!"

I'm sure there could be some other way to stop it. I mean, having everyone just sitting around town, not killing anything, and just wasting the creators time sounds like a viable solution.

I just don't think it would be a possible one. There's always the one troll.

But ont he other hand, Im sure there'd likely be lots who said "Death or ERP?" and the creator would go "OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE?!"

When they're not sure of how much of a profit they can make.

You have Jerry Bruckheimer (sp?) and Johnny Depp who delivered them big money making movies, and the same studio still wouldn't trust them with a big budget for Lone Ranger, and they had three movies show they could (but then they could be due for a flop!)

Heh. Yes. But I was trying to stay within the scope of the question.

One could just pull off the VR gear once this is found out and risk it. So the question is, do you do that or play the game? If you play the game, how do you play it?

Saying you just pull the gear off and risk it is a perfectly valid choice.

Honestly Sword Art Online sounds like the best case scenario there.
I get the feeling that none of the beta testers knew of the "can't logout feature of the game"

And being a beta testing thing, I can imagine many gamers going "sign me up!" logging in and then goign WTF?! When trying to log out.

Now, you just have the GMs word on if you try to pull off the VR gear (which sounds like it's a possibility) you'll die, but then you have just the GMs word that if you die in game, you'll die in RL.

So, since one figures you can't logout the GM could possibly be telling the truth on what happens if you just pull the gear off.

They've obviously just kidnapped you, and now you have an uncertainy.

So the best option is to play the game.

You risk death by pulling the gear off. And sitting there in one spot won't get you anywhere.

But the question is. Why go about PKing? Do you pick a fraction when logging in? And do you have to take on the other fraction to win?

If you don't, then no PKing seems like the right answer. Gather the troops and begin the leveling.

Of course you'd be bound to find some trolls even in a life and death instance like that. Inwhich case you either try to beat but only to the point of being knocked out. If that isn't an option and no talk can reason it out...self defense.
  17. I think when it comes down to Reeves, it's not so much he was bad. But that acting has changed since then.

You can just watch a lot of old movies (which I do) with actors who are considered "the best" at the time, and see such a big difference in performances from then and now.

The same applies to Reeves (whether he was eve considered the best or not).

For Routh, I think he just got the shaft. He wasn't hired on to play Clark/Supes, he was hired on to play Reeves Clark/Supes.

It's no different than say watching on old movie, where before the special effects where OMG SO REAL, and now you look at them when compared to newer movies and go SO FAKE!

Reeves is on the list because his performance is just older. Really, that's what makes it bad. You also see it and go "Okay, it's just corny now" because that's not what you're looking for.

I don't think people hate there being corny/comedy in their comic to film, but the old Superman movies come off now as a bit like they didnt want to take some things serious. It's a movie based on a comic book which is for kids, we can't take this serious (taking it serious in this case doesnt mean no comedy).

And really, I think that's why the one's picked on that original list got put on that list.

It didn't feel like they were taking the script and their parts serious as an actor, but rather, "Eh, it's a paycheck, phone it in, this is a comic book movie lol, who'd see that?"

Even with Cage on there, it's because as many say, he played himself rather than Ghost Rider.

I'd put some of the blame on the director, writers and likely studios and not just the actors.

After all, I doubt it was Halle Berry who thought up the line about the toad. But she also seemed to give a more phoned in acting job, maybe because she wasnt the main star or because she didn't take it seriously.

What I am surprised at is I almost sure Green Latern and DareDevil would be on the list as people seem to hate those movies (I didnt). But maybe that's because while people may have had problems with their acting or the script, they thought they took the part serious? *shrug*
  18. I'd still prefere to see just new animations (preferably some StJ ones) ported as alternate animations to the already existing ones.

Even if that means altering the animation times a bit.

Well, it sorta is! Only I'd want less emphasis on the toys and more regen and smashing resist.

I'd also prefere the mez protection in a toggle as I find it annoying to put on auto and keeping track of it gets annoying.

I could go Ninja and take Tough, but this is really just about the feel of the set. Lethal objects hurting more. Being able to take that super strength hit on the other hand is a bit easier. While having the willpower (psi resist) to keep one's wits about them and a bit difficult for those psi types to get at you.

While have the moves to duck and weave. It what I see in Wonder Woman and Spider-Man, obviously with WW focused a bit more on the Smashing Resist, while Spidey is going for the agility.

The regen/heal is that they recover fast from these fights.

And really, I just think a Def/Regen defense set would fit what /I/ want for my main. So, I fully admit it's a personal want (though it appears others like the idea )

As for the combo system. Was click toggles on in certain order and one would get bonus, but I guess with the instance hoping that that could be a problem

But I'd settle for the set without any gimmicks!

I came up with an idea for a set for it, but lost my notes on it. When trying to think of the gimmick for it I came up with the gimmick but couldnt decide what bonuses it would give.

I was thinking treat it like a combo system. 4 Toggles, 3 Passives, 2 Clickies (Self Heal and Tier 9). Set it up where the Toggles are Combos...turn on the toggles in a certain order get a bonus!

    Was thinking maybe +Dmg, +RCH, or +REC.

But really it was just the basics of the above that I wanted in the set.

Yes! When Synapse said "Maybe a little OPed but it works themetically, so I kept it in" I was happy.

Not because of something being OPed But because I prefere themetics to be the first call. Though, Im sure there's some number mechanic that can bring something OPed in line...more end use or higher recharge...what have you.

Probably the largest single tension point in the design of this game is that it attempts to compromise between structure and conceptual freedom. Unlimited freedom would make this the ultimate superhero Sims, but the reward-based gameplay would fall apart completely. But overly strict structure would remove one of the unique attractions of the game itself. Within that compromise most people are not going to be completely happy with the decisions the devs make one way or the other. But that's not because the devs are foolish or incompetent, its because no decision option exists would make everyone happy. Almost everyone wants some structure and some freedom but no two people will want the exact same structure and freedom in the exact same places.

Few MMOs run into this problem face-first like City of Heroes (and its spiritual cousin Champions Online) does.
So true! In other settings I find I don't mind the limits as much. I can live with alot different ideas in builds when it comes to a fantasy setting or even a sci-fi space opera setting (tho I have issues with that one too >_>)

With my superheroes tho, I want a more freedom in power choices! Im not looking to be uber with it either. What I accomplish in game now is about as uber as I want to feel with my superheroes But some of those combos require powers I dont want to take (Hover) to get there :/
