Quote:Softcap S/L Resistances? Don't you mean cap?Currently, Crushing Impact, with 2 slots used up, gives 3% resistance.
5 of those pups will give you +15% SL Resistance and everyone has enough melee attacks to do this, even if they have to resort to brawl and pool powers. Add a second slot to Brawl just to get 3% resistance? YES Please!
Multi Strike also gives 2.5 SL Resistance with just a 2 slot investment. You just need to find two melee AoEs to slot them in. That can be any PBAoE attack, Damage Aura, melee cone or even the new Cone attack in the Fighting Pool.
It will be easy to get +20% SL resistance just with what I listed above (and there are more sources, especially if you have more than two melee AoE.)
A fire tanker, the weakest of the resit based Tankers, already reaches 70.2% SL resistance with Tough. This will make it trivial for Fire to cap SL Resist, and since it's just a 2 slot investment per power, they dont have to sacrifice their Kinetic Combat SL Defense slotting.
Technically everyone but SR, Ice and Shields seem to be able to softcap SL resistances easily now [in beta].
5 bucks say this wont make it live. At minimum I expect/sugest a tier change to those set bonuses. -
Seeing as how I don't want to disappoint those who came here for other reasons!

The Imperious and romulus slashfic!
...
Imperious let his helmet slip from his fingers and drop to the ground as Romolus pulled him in closer.
They'd been at it all day. A savage foreplay of brutal beatings upon each other that had lead to nothing more than ripped outfits and solid muscular frames glistening with sweat in the waning sun.
They could feel their hearts beating as one as they stood their ground eyes locked in a battle of wills in who would speak first.
Imperious bit at his bottom lip. His hands lying gently against Romulus heaving chest. Chills of excitement running through his body as Romulus kept him from running away with powerful hands that gripped his waist.
"It's you. It's always been you." Romulus cried out before leaning in and licking the sweat from Imperious neck.
Imperious melted. His head leaned back to expose himself more to Romulus firm lips and exploring tongue, "I love you Romulus! I always have! And I always will!"

Quote:A good incentive imo is to just make it so Boxing/Kick was an attack worth taking (I think this of the other pool attacks as well). Here's something that just occurred to me. In all this talk of "cost," we seem to have lost sight of the purpose that "cost" is supposed to serve. See, this is a game and it's intended to be fun, therefore power "cost" isn't intended to suck, it's intended to inform build balance. Specifically, the point of locking some powers in a set behind others isn't to keep you from having what you want, it's to give incentive to take more of a set than just a single power. You know how THAT can happen in a way that doesn't revolve around penalties? Rewards.
Funny I should mention this, because "rewards" is exactly how Fighting is now balanced. For the first time ever, I have an actual reason to take more than just the select few powers out of it that I want - the power reinforce each other. That, to me, is a far superior balancing structure, and it has the potential to offer more meaningful choices: Do I want just this one power for the sake of versatility, or do I want to invest and have stronger powers but from fewer sources? That's what I want to achieve.
I don't mind pools that require me to invest in them. I just mind pools which require me to invest into powers I'm never going to use. Instead of giving me an empty power pick to make a power "cost" more, I'd much rather have incentive to take both because both are better together than each is on its own. Again - I wouldn't mind our current "combined" approach with mutually-enhancing powers mixed with tiered power picks, if any "mechanic" a pool offered existed in at least most of its tiers. That way, I can pick something I want moderately in order to get something I want a lot, as opposed to picking something I don't want at all to get something that I'm going to feel cheated for having sunk two power picks into. No power in this game is so strong as to be worth two whole power picks.
Up the damage on them. Put them on par with tier 1 - 3 attacks.
That way you can replace one of the attacks you get from your offensive powerset with Boxing or Kick or have a decent one if you lack the option.
It's still suck for weapon sets due to redraw, but for most builds it could become a decent alternative. -
Quote:Wait what?Cybernaut you don't understand - the issue is never power creep - it is uneven power creep
A character with just SO's needs to be able to solo the content that players with purple IO's also solos.
double everyone's damage and it doesn't matter - just give the enemies twice as many hit points.
but double some people's damage and either everything is too easy, or you double the hit points and everything is too hard for the people who didn't get their damage doubled
the devs worked around this with the +4/x8 difficulty, but even that is too easy for some and impossible for others.
No.
Just no.
Just because a IOed character can solo something, doesn't mean a SOed character should be able to solo it.
That's the point of IOs! To make you tougher, stronger, able to do things above and beyond just regular SOs.
Now...can a team of SOs accomplish what a team of IOed characters can accomplish? So far, I've seen nothing that says they can't. -
Quote:Agreed.Aye....they're not really interested in the well-being of the property, or the artistic merit...simply if they can keep making money off of it. Which is why i want all the Marvel characters to go back to Marvel. They at least have an interest in the properties beyond simple dollar signs.
I figure Marvel will try to make the best movie possible to at least sell more comics, and likely draw interrest to possible cartoons and disney attractions. -
Quote:Because they're not interrested in making a good movie. They're interrested in making a profit, which most of them have done.I don't understand why a studio would try so hard to keep the rights to a character when they have failed to make a good movie with said character. In order to keep the rights, they just quickly throw together whatever they can by the deadline.
Why? If it's a property they can't use well, and they only use because a deadline is approaching, then why bother? I just don't get why they want to keep it. -
Quote:And before I get to the point of Statesman's and Sister Psyche's death in SSA1, I was a in IP at a point before their death.Good because it was never funny. And at this point I think you're just being obstinate.
And of course he's still there. You're -told- they die. You're not -shown- they die.
You're traveling to a point in Cimerora -before everything in Cimerora goes down-. let's map out important points in a rough order:
A: First arrive in Cimerora
B: Sister Arlia's/Daedalus' arcs
C: Imperious Task Force
D: Handling Mot & Cimerora burns
E: Imperious and Romulus kill each other
We never get to E. As far as our personal timeline goes, we make it up to D and leave Cimerora to the present to deal with Mot. We're -closer- to E than we were, but we never make it -to- E. We're only told E happens at some point while we're thousands of years in the future. So when we go back into Cimerora, it's still -their- past. In fact it may not even be E at all, it may be F or G or H and we don't know because we haven't experienced it yet, there could be more stuff that happens between our leaving after the Mot fiasco and the two of them killing each other.
Really it's honest to gods time travel. There's no monkeying about with what's present, what's leveling, what's anything. it's time travel. We travel in time to a point prior to their deaths and have yet to reach the point where they die, we're only told they die. In fact we always knew they'd die, as said, Cimerora is gone, Statesman and Recluse possessed the incarnations of Zeus and Tartarus, and it's -thousands of years in the future-. Of course they died. We only didn't know how and at what point in time, a time we've yet to reach.
It can't be spelled out any clearer than that.
Like how in Faultline I'm in a point of time before I was in IP, as Penny proves. -
Quote:Yeah. You got the meme wrong, GG, it goes: There are no girls on the Internet.
Which is becoming increasingly ridiculous and impossible, since everyone knows everything is connected to the Internet these days.
My hat is a portable Wifi zone projector.
Now the meme is "There are no girls in MMOs" -
Quote:Was never really trying to be funny. No, it really isn't the same thing. It's cute you're trying to be funny. But like all cute things, it's growing progressively uncute with age.
In the end though I like to think Imperious finally realized every time Romulus said "Your lands shall be mine for the taking!" he was really saying "I Love you"
I go to Cimora. I do the mission/tf. I do SSA1. I go back to Cimora...he's still there.
The excuse for removing Statesman and Psyche was "They're dead so you wouldnt see them anymore"
So why not replace the TF with someone else? -
Why reboot DD?! They could just sequal it with a new actor!
They're going to reboot FF already? I can hear the complaints already.
If they're going to reboot, I'd prefere to see them go back to Marvel's control and then just become part of the whole Marvel Movie Universe.
Also, with the deadlines approaching, I fear we'll get lousy movies that are made purely to get made to keep the rights. -
Really. It is.
Especially when one considers they run SSA1 and go "Who the hell are Statesman and Sister Psyche?" when they've never seen them before in the game.
They should of used the phase tech they have to phase them out when you complete the SSA1, or left them in.
Makes it even better because one could choose not to run SSA1 and always have Sister Psyche standing there to run her TF, while those who ran it have Penny.
Then whoever has the star the world gets viewed around them. Which really would make the SSA1s about your character as was intended (or so they say) in that the world changes based around your actions! -
Quote:1) Hmmm...havent seen Blaster changes to really decide if the changes are enough. Defenders could use some help imo to make them different in a way from Corruptors to make people think they're just as worthwhile (sadly, my only way to change them is to lower Corr debuff values on things that are equal between the ATs, like -Regen, and even then it might not be a big enough difference). So playerbase in your opinion is there any other AT that needs help as much as MM's post I24?
Can you say that after I24 there will be any power that is truly worse than serum?
Do you think that the cottage rule should be thrown aside when you compare some of the older MM primary set powers with the new MM sets? Daemons/Beast Mastery as compared to Mercs/Robots?
On a team what do you expect the mastermind to do? / What role do you expect him to fill on a team?
Do you think the MM's role on a team changes depending on the content? (I.E. Does the MM do the same job on a paper mish team as he does in the iTrials?)
Do you consider MM's to be tanks?
Do you think it's fair that some MM's can slot the unique recharge intensive pet IO's and more easily soft cap their pets giving those sets an inherent advantage over sets that don't offer that?
For that matter do you think it's fair that MM's are "required"(need) to slot 5/7 unique IO's in their primary powers just to bring them up to the point where they last long enough to do anything in the high level content?
Still think the melee ATs could use some tweaks to further seperate them, but I find that less likely to happen.
2) Yes.
3) Robots is still considered one of the best! Beast Mastery last I knew, considered one of the worst.
4) Buff team/Debuff Enemies (secondary varies this), guide pets to attack things.
5) Nope.
6) Only if built for it. They can be, at least in Pre Incarnate content. I don't know if they could in Incarnate content, however, this is because I haven't seen any MMs who built themselves to tank.
7) Perfectly fair! That's no different than some melee sets can slot 2 -Resist Procs versus None!
8) By high level content, I'm going to guess you mean Incarnate content, and by that I don't see how those IOs are going to make that big of a difference, when you likely have enough buffing going on with Defenders/Corrs/Trollers/MMs possibly buffing and everyone having Destiny powers.
You sure it's not just that you don't care for how Mercs play? Try a different Primary. -
Quote:Imperius is an incarnate, of Zeus, and like Statesman should be ageless. So his death would be at the hands of someone else. They were both already dead for centuries when the ITF first came out - every singlke NPC you ever see in Cimerora is long dead in the 21st century
Statesman and Sister Psyche can still be encountered via Ouroboros, when players travel back in time, just like they do when they visit Cimerora.
In storyline, we find he has died. Therefore should be removed.
Statesman and Sister Psyche were alive in the past, died in the present, and they were removed from all content.
Statesman TF happened before SSA1, so Statesman TF was in the past not the present. So that makes being in the past a reason to keep Imperious invalid. -
Quote:So explain the LRSF which is the future. They have been taken out of the Paragon City PRESENT. They still exist in the PAST, and can still be seen via time travel (in mender Mender Silos' arc for example).
Imperious and Romulus exist in the PAST. They cannot be found in any zones that are in Pargon City PRESENT. -
Quote:Well depending on the changes to Dual Pistols, I may go back to DP/TIME Corr. As Time Manip did well with giving me the Dodge and Regen feel.I hear you. I *still* would have preferred Dual Pistol / Super Reflexes, but alas.
At very least, I know I can probably soft-cap S/L defense for Dual Pistol / Martial Whatever, which is good enough for me.
But Dual Pistols damage was so lackluster and the redraw wasnt helping what little -regen and -resist Time Manip has to make up for it. So that was making me meh on using Dual Pistols. -
Quote:It looks good on males it looks terrible on females (imo). I probably should of cleared it up.I wouldn't say that's true for all or even most Silver Age styles.
I liked the Patent Leather topthat said I'm swapping it out for the new zip-up leather bodysuit top and have been replacing it with Defense for a while now..... XD

Quote:It kinda was.I can all but guarantee that the example BrandX used was specifically ridiculous to throw the ones that actually are an issue under the bus.
AKA, a tongue-in-cheek poke at States, Penny and Sister Psyche's statuses. (Tell me I am not the only one who has read all of BrandX's posts in this thread with a heavy tinge of sarcasm?)
The part of it just dawning on me about Imperious was totally true! It just did!
But I never was in favor of removing Sister Psyche or Statesman, but the excuse was, they're dead so they have to be taken out, nevermind the fact that the TFs happened before the SSA.
Well, the SSA happened, Imperious and Romulus are dead. So they should be removed under the same thinking. -
-
Quote:The point at which we did the Statesman and Psyche TFs where before their deaths. We're only told about their deaths. The exact point in time the Cimerora crystal sends us to is prior to that.
We go in, do the arcs, do the TF, then leave after having saved time from nazis, then come back shortly after to become the chosen one that handled Mot and watched Cimerora burn.
They die after that. Together. Hopefully in each other's arms.
So why erase them and not the others? -
Quote:Yes! If they're going to do it with Statesman and Psyche. That's exactly what they should do.For that matter Ghost Widow, Ghost of Scrapyard, Numina and Woodsman should also be removed from the game, right?
At least with those who run TFs obviously. Since precedence is TF holders get erased completely! -
Quote:Statesman was erased from the game when he died. What do you mean 'replaced'? Statesman and Recluse held the same power as them, if that's what you mean.
Imperious and Romulus are still around and they have died! So changing who has their TFs like they did with Statesman and Sister Psyche seems to make sense to me! -
They're both dead! Why haven't they been replaced?! This just dawned on me!
