    Hi guys!

Why did this thread get amazing after my post was deleted?
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Actually, y'know what? We get these threads periodically complaining about how there's nothing of substance on this board. How about you guys who like to complain actually try posting something of substance? Rather than posting QQ about it, put your money where your mouth is and actually contribute positively to the community, with something other than complaints. Because y'know, this past week we've seen two event postings (the Dawn Patrol anniversary shindig and the SG recruitment fair) that none of the usual complainers posted anything to, despite these clearly being content posts that contributed something to the community. You want to complain? Step up and be part of the solution.

The good stuff has long since been drowned out. HEROID and Glory keep some fiction going if my casual perusal serves me well enough. Interesting you choose the meaning of "good stuff" to be whine threads about cliques, pocket D, flamewars etc. when really all it has ever meant is partaking in a little collaborative fiction, reading of said fiction posts thus fleshing out peoples characters in ways the game simply doesn't allow or organising and running events that may or may not have had some meaning to someone, somewhere beyond rofls, lulz or titters.

    YMMV, whatever.

There comes a point where raging all over your keyboard becomes a waste of time, and long since has that moment passed by. The old guard has been replaced. The cycle begins anew.

    Hey, Sid...

One of my favourite player-penned-stories ever.
  6. ... the latest comission I had done.

Done by a good friend of mine after another completely weird conversation that I don't care to repeat in public :3

    :3 of course.
  9. Weren't the War Walls supposed to come down? I thought that was part of the deconstruction process.
  10. ...you make one off-handed comment and the next thing you know you've comissioned a friend for some art...

As to $9.99 being steep . . . you should try doing SEXY JAY'S job. He put's a lot of hard work into programming these items. $10. is more than reasonable. programming these things is a <bleep>.

    [/ QUOTE ]

He pulls a salary to make a living, like everyone else. It's not like he'll starve if this fails. This is the dumbest argument in this thread full of dumb.

The pack is poor value. That's all there is to it.

This may have been mentioned already (I didn't read through every page) but the price would seem more reasonable if it also included a month of game time like the GvE package did. Charging for "extra" content is a bad idea, IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

FYI, the GvE Goodie Pack didn't have a free month and cost 9.99 (and still does from the NC Store). The GvE Box did and cost 20 bucks at release (at least locally).

The CoH DvD Bonuses pack DID have a free month with it, but it cost 19.99.

I seriously think the price isn't the real issue many people have with the Wedding Pack. The problem is price vs what you get. The GvE pack feels like a better value simply because it has more utility (the two temp powers alone are "worth the 10 bucks" to most people, to some the jump pack was worth the 10 bucks by itself). The wedding pack just feels really light for the same price. I have few doubts that most of the complaints about the Wedding Pack would vanish if the Devs had included the "Get Me To The Church On Time" Temp Teleport power that ports you instantly to the gate of your choice in the zone you're in or to the tram station in your current zone or some such. Even something as low utility as that would have made the price feel better since it's something with some universal utility.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, yes, thrice yes. Even on a 24 hour recharge that would be worth ten bucks.

    [ QUOTE ]
And as it happens, I do think this "pack" is awful... from a value for money standpoint. It's all well and good, but for ten bucks?

Yah, no thanks, especially when GvE gave me a more stuff with more use than this wedding pack ever will for the exact same price.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I agree with you on that as well. If it had been $5, I'd have jumped on it, but at $10, well, I'll wait until I have a character that I feel absolutely needs one of the pieces for their theme, or perhaps someone that I'd like to propose to. (Although, one would think the worship emote would do equally well...)

AND YES I BOUGHT HORSE ARMOUR, get off my case already.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As did I, sadly. Maybe that's why I'm not jumping at this: once bitten, and all that...

    [/ QUOTE ]

If there was one, just one, thing that was beneficial in game, then I would bite, probably hard too. Alas... halve the price or add something worth having, all in my opinion of course.

You completely missed the point. Maybe I used too many words?

    Here it is in one line;

People without Credit Cards should be able to get this as well, so sort it out NCSoft.

    There, better?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, you're right. I did miss your point, and I apologize; I thought you were joining in the chorus of complaints about this not being free content.

I actually agree with you on that point; there should be more payment options available for this. As others have said, there are the pre-paid Visa gift cards, so that does provide one alternative, but obviously, it's in NCSoft's interest to offer as many ways as possible for people to give them money.

Now, having said all that, I'd like to point out the extreme irony of complaining in one post about another poster's snark, and then posting something positively dripping with sarcasm and unwarranted bile yourself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, that's my gimmick, I make no apologies for it. Well, actually I do.

There should be ways to get this content in to -every- players hands regardless of how they pay for it, all talk of pricing and value aside.

It's a poor business model to deny customers product due to shortsightedness such as this, albeit this is more to do with NCSoft in general than CoX.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And how have they denied us? Are you honestly going to say you feel the costume options available without this are too limited? That they haven't consistently provided us with new costume options, free of charge?

If the quantity and quality of the basic content suffers because of this, then yes, I will be upset. But if this is legitimately an instance of them offering things above and beyond what we've gotten in the past, for an additional price, then I have no problem with that.

I'm not ready to give NCSoft a gold star, and say that I have no concerns here, but I'm also not ready to say that this is a terrible idea. Personally, I'm willing to wait and see how this plays out before I fall in one camp or the other.

My problem aside from the cost is that you can only buy it with a credit card. I use timecards, I won't be able to get this, or any other online option like this in the future if I continue with timecards.

I'll tell you what; this friday's drawing for MEga Millions is up to ~$180,000,000. If I win, I'll take home, after taxes and cash-option penalty, about sixty million.

So, if I win ... I'll pay NC^2 three million dollars, cash money on the barrelhead, to simply add the Wedding Pack to every single non-Trial account, active or not.

Would that satisfy your sense of entitlement ...?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can't retort to a reasonable voice of dissent with that kind of ridiculous snark. There should be ways to get this content in to -every- players hands regardless of how they pay for it, all talk of pricing and value aside.

It's a poor business model to deny customers product due to shortsightedness such as this, albeit this is more to do with NCSoft in general than CoX.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
If people are willing to pay for it, and charging this price allows NCSoft to develop this kind of stuff without impacting things that are more important to more people, then what's the harm?

Do you honestly think they're going to take the cash they pull in from this and use it to hire another costume artist so they can develop for-pay and for-issue costumes simultaneously? Or that we'll get the same number of costume elements per year that we've always gotten, only (if this goes over well) an increasingly-large number of them will find their way into "packs"?

Ask yourself this: wouldn't you be more upset if they did make this stuff part of the regular schedule? If it, say, bumped back some bug fix, or new content?

How would costumes impact bug fixes? And again, do you think it didn't impact production? Quoting Arcanaville from upthread:

    [ QUOTE ]

I'd write a check to Jay and BaB for custom animations and costumes right now, if that's the way it worked. But I have a feeling that the art department didn't burn the midnight oil and get a bonus for these extras: they would have worked just as hard - but on something else everyone would have gotten access to - if they didn't work on these.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ummmmmmmm.......

If you can't log onto Freedom or Virtue, then there will probably be six other servers available to play on. You are not being turned away, so cut the drama.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm being turned away from servers with characters that I wish to get double XP on. So yes, I am being turned away. Rolling up a level 1 on some craphole server I have no interest in playing on is not a substitute, they may as well ask me to go play a different game altogether.

OH WAIT, that's -exactly- what's happening when the server gets "locked".

And if you think my previous post is drama, you clearly need to watch more Dynasty, bud. But by all means, keep brown-nosing, I'm sure that custom forum title is just round the corner.

Oh wait, you already have one, NEVERMIND.
