I couldn't help you out too much on that, but I'd say pick up gloom and skip Focused Burst, keep Overload on hand for those pesky moments, and do your best to build for S/L/E/F/C. Shouldn't be too hard, but it's pretty expensive. Hell, I haven't PvP'd in a loooong time (Issue 13 to be exact, with the exception of a few arena matches) so I couldn't give you much more advice than that, but I'd suggest you go poking around the PvP forums, even with all the trolls.

Dark/ works with practically anything. Dark/Shield can solo AVs. Dark is also especially powerful in /SR. It's really useful in sets that lack any sort of self heal. Dark/WP also works really well. Dark/SR and Dark/Shield will not have endurance problems towards the 30s I think. Even sooner, although I've never personally tried Dark/Shield. I know Dark/Shield is a really powerful combo for Scrappers. many Dark/Shield Scrappers have soloed almost every AV. Really, really good Single Target and decent AoE. The Build Up (Soul Drain) shines in large groups, as it is slightly more powerful than regular build ups when you hit all 10 targets.

Stone/WP hits like a truck and chugs on like a friggin 18-wheeler. WP isn't as sturdy as I'd like until soft-capped, but Stone/WP will never do you wrong.
Dark/ is pretty much good with anything. Dark Melee is delicious on both a Scrapper and Brute. A LOT of DPS coming from Dark/, and it's especially powerful with an endurance restoration device built into the set.
Energy is frowned upon because it does lack decent AoE, but more because you'll be spending about 6 seconds animating both of its heavy hitter powers, which people do not like at all. Example: on a team you'll activate Energy Transfer on a lieutenant or boss, only to have it floored by your teammates a little too quickly.
Elec/ is your AoE king. AoE everywhere. Is that a spawn? Nope, it's a target for your lightning rod. Clustered enemies? All the better for you to kill. Elec/ combines a good amount of single target damage and heavy AoE, and with fury you'll almost negate your single target weakness. You will also be an avid drainer of the blue bar, which will then at times refill your own. -
/SR is pretty cheap to softcap these days. Also pretty easy to max out your endurance return on a /SR.
It's hell to level up for a while, however. The RNG is evil and will do its best to make pre-35% defense annoying. I know you want to stay away from /SR on a Brute, but consider it. Your wallet will have an easier time with /SR than with Shield or EA. -
Quote:I'll be blunt. This actually kind of irritates me. I just recently purchased this exact thing a couple of weeks ago for full price. While I have absolutely no regrets in doing so, getting it for half price would have been all the more awesome. It would've left me money for Booster Packs, for example. For everyone else, though? Good deal.
Damn it, Valve.
Gaben? -
Wonky AI, extra run speed (makes them very difficult to control, because they enjoy sprinting to almost any target randomly), and they're also relatively weak when it comes to taking hits. They're all about defense, but Ninjas/Storm is a chaos generating machine. You'll always be on your toes. I suggest hitting up Mids.

Hmm...
Woodsman fix is a real boon. Nice work guys. The Notice of the Well conversion could be just a bit higher, maybe 60 threads. Didn't even realize Mortimer Kal had that issue.
Looking forward to more non-incarnate related fixes! -

Congratulations to everyone who participated! The event was great and many laughs were had. We had everything from Marauder camping the Up-N-Away Burger, to 32 Mother Mayhems and 64 Anti-Matters. So I want to say, good work denziens of Infinity, you have done well.
But the question still remains...
Where was Nemesis? -
My 2 cents:
The Shield
(Brute) Anything/Super Reflexes
(Tanker) Anything/Ice Armor
(Tanker) Anything/Shield Defense
(Tanker) Anything/Invulnerability
The Spear
(Corruptor) Sonic/Pain Domination
(Corruptor/Controller/Defender) Anything/Thermal
(Corruptor/Controller/Defender) Anything/Radiation
(Corruptor/Defender) Anything/Cold
(Mastermind) Anything/Thermal
(Mastermind) Anything/Pain Domination
(Mastermind) Anything/Poison
(Dominator) Practically anything works here. Sleep is especially useful when you want to tackle very difficult tasks (such as a 2-man LRSF) -
Quote:What, you don't like all your mercs or bots charging Siege and dying 3 seconds later when you acidentally hit your attack button?
People have ben asking for this change forever.... I woul love to see it as well, but devs don't particularly seem to care these days (at least not enough to eve say it's being looked at). Sigh.
Which further proves that Devs hate Masterminds. -

Anything that doesn't involve Co-Operative (Hero and Villain tea time) and also does not involve playing lackey to a signature character or some 2-bit punk (Hardcase, I'm looking at you).

Quote:If we can get 2500 people on Freedom for the May 27th final event (starts at 4:00 p.m. PDT), then the badge will be available over Memorial Weekend on all servers. Please come out and join us for the event!
Clever way to test your new server tech, but I'll stick to the servers where I don't have to wait 45 seconds to use a 5 second recharge power. -
You guys did an awesome job with them (I know I'm really late to the party on this one, been gone a while), especially the Shadow Shard badges. VERY well written. I must say, nice little hint to the Storm with one of them, hah. But really, excellent work on them. Kudos to the people that wrote the descriptions.

All honesty? Not really. The speed at which every team is encouraged to do the TF and the movement of Marauder makes it very difficult on the Mastermind. Your best bet is to stick with your teammates in the sabotage part and try not to have anything summoned. You're better off on BAF, but on a Master Of run you'll be GREAT help on Marauder as a debuff component. -Damage is irresistable, and as such you will contribute quite a bit to the Grenade-less portion. Stick to BAF is my adivce, sadly. it's more enjoyable.
Real advice would be to try to hold the Rocket Spammers. I know some people can't afford to buy their slot experience, so tough this one out. You can't do much, but you can if you're careful. Just watch for Nova Fist and try to stealth support on the sabotage. -
This thread should be locked and deleted.

This participation thing is ridiculous. I agree, it should either be trashed as the horrible creation of an idea that might've meant well but did more harm than good, or reworked to not be completely idiotic.

Quote:Tornado is a bad place for procs for 3 reasons.
t
1) Tornado does its damage via an aura it has, so the proc rate is once every 10 seconds, not once per damage hit or tohit check
2) Tornado has a pretty small AOE on that aura
3) Tornado does knockback, so unless you can immob & -kb things in place the chances something is going to be within that small AOE when the 10 second mark comes around is pretty small.
A standard damage proc in any power which uses an aura for it's effect gives you a measly 1.4 DPS at level 50 (20% chance of 70 damage every 10 seconds).
Good places for procs are pets or powers which work by using a pseudopet which casts a power themselves every few seconds (like Lightning Storm, the Lich or Grave Knights). Or powers with a decent AOE, like Freezing Rain.
On a Necro/storm I'd stick a Chance for -resist into Knights and Freezing Rain and probably the Accurate -ToHit damage proc into the Lich.
I wasn't technically talking about using tornado extensively for damage on mobs. I was thinking more along the lines of an AV or Giant Monster. -
Quote:I love my Demon/Storm, one of my favorite characters. I like to proc the nado and it works well, but regular damage is also a valid choice. Tornado can also be used for the pet buff procs (as can Hell on Earth from demons), which is handy.
From a math standpoint, the 20% chance + accuracy and defense debuffs + the amount of times Tornado hits = a lot of proc damage. I was thinking of slotting Tornado with a Lady Grey's Chance for Negative and an Achilles Heel, plus a couple Analyze Weakness IOs. Well, that and I'm thinking of putting procs in Freezing Rain as well.
