Bodyguard only works with the pets in Defensive with these three modes: Follow, Go To, and Stay.

Attack My Target makes them aggressive thus dropping the bodyguard mode (but not changing the initial setting of defense to aggressive).

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is only true if you use the default 3 commands. I use the advanced controls, so I can control which stance and order they have seperately. Defensive attack still isn't bodyguard, but they are in defensive mode. This means they wont run off and attack some random group that isn't in combat with me while I'm fighting. Actually, I normally only use aggressive stance in mayhem missions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I meant the advanced controls

    [/ QUOTE ]

But you said that if you keep using a different pet each time to initiate combat then they eventually would no longer be in defensive. That's only true using the simple controls. Advanced controls don't change stance when you change orders.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Well I guess I could've been a little clearer

Thanks everyone. You've at least told me that this is not a bad combination. I'm looking forward to the death, decay, and decimation that my character will be capable of.

But I have two more questions for now.

Does the -heal penalty stop regeneration too?

Until I get grave knights and lich, am I unable to solo? The zombies pump out a lot of damage, but as soon as I fight a boss critter I can't kill him fast enough.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Patience on this one. You can solo even without the Grave Knight, but a boss might be too much for your little minions of death to handle at this point.

An no, the -Heal penalty BARELY takes off a portion of your regeneration, especially once you get Soothing Aura.

Once you do get the Grave Knights you'll start to put the hurting on enemies, especially once you get the second upgrade.

Remember those suckers can crit, and it's all the better when one gets Painbringer, hah.
  8. My point was it seemed kind far fetched, but I guess it wouldn't be since you're /Dark.

    Power Boosted Twilight Grasp ftw

When my Thugs/Dark MM (hardly a top PvP combination) is able to take on a full (albeit mostly uncoordinated) hero team and win while never being in serious danger of dying, I don't think bodyguard mode needs a buff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So you can take on 8 random heroes who are greatly disorganized?
  10. Ok, here's the scoop.

Pretty much everything with /pain is grabbable, but you should most likely avoid enforced morale.

Once you get enough healing bonuses into Nullify pain and Soothe you'll be able to drop Share Pain, although I don't know for what exactly.

The Presence Pool Provoke taunt will keep plenty of the unwanted aggro on you, although with this set (including bonuses to pet resistance from the IOs) you won't even need to worry too much about keeping the aggro.

This set DEFINITELY blooms much later, and also requires a lot of Franken set love.
  11. Well yes, Zombies are very hard to center in one area without switching them to passive or causing them to focus on a single target.

Plus they tend to...."freak out" when targetted PBAoE DoTs (such as burn patch or Rikti Money Gas/Nemesis Gas) are layed down.
  12. I suggest Necro/Dark. The combo is pretty easy to get the hang of, and provides some wonderful mitigation and absolutely superb crowd control.

Just remember to take stanima, hah.
  13. Poison trap is a delicious power that can practically hold anything.

Hell, it can even hold the Freedom Phalanx, cept it does proc randomly.

Someone relaying on the res buffs or SB better play Scrabble(tm)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can play that game too. Heals and alpha takers let you do things that otherwise could not be done. Do you advocate a Nin stalker not taking Sha? Because anyone benefiting from a heal should play Scrabble.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I greatly agree with A_C.

Heals by themselves are not as great a form of mitigation as buffs. Applying heals with those buffs can be the greatest form of mitigation, and I would much rather have both than just one or the other.
  15. Castle already stated he was adding that to Soul Extraction.

How is it that we cannot choose only one power set? I mean, for example, some heroes only have ONE power they manipulate and grow. For example, Cyclops only has his laser beam. Jubilee only has her flash bomb things, Rogue only has that power absorbtion (which yes can lead to OTHER powers, but not permanently).

works in fiction, not so well in an MMO environment.

  17. Force Bubble will be king against many opponents and will create a melee safe haven against certain enemies.

People using Invuln and Willpower will be able to penetrate your bubble, but otherwise you won't have problems with Melee ATs.

How is repulsion field in pvp?

Does work well with force bubble?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well with PFF up it's useless, but otherwise it can keep *some* enemies off you.
  19. Actually some Tier 3 pets are not meant to be used as Meat Shields. The Bruiser is all around great when he gets into melee combining a good amount of Knockdown with a healthy amount of smashing damage.

For instance the Lich is more control and debuff rather than dealing damage and soaking it up.

Commando is somewhat of the meat shield, and can take that roll to th enext level if you waste a power slot on Serum.

The Oni is more control as well, but it's harder for me to determine his roll other than Damage/Control.

Pets function differently from Primary to Primary including the rolls of the Tier 3 pets.
  20. Honestly....it doesn't make sense thematically or even practically.

I mean sure KB's are annoying, but they can be helpful planned or unplanned.

We have holds and immobilizes for this sort of thing anyways, and adding a -KB ability to taunt just doesn't seem necessary or even needed.
  21. Bookkeeper_Jay

    And then...

The Kool-Aid man came crashing through the wall screaming "OH YEAH!", and then...
  22. No. Leave the Bruiser as he is. He mostly melees since his AI code change and I'm happy with it.
  23. Tankerminding: A mastermind using an AoE taunt called "Provoke" from the Presence Pool to effectively use the resistances provided by Bodyguard mode to slice incoming damage in half.

Not to mention you should make sure your pets are well protected from AoEs.
  24. Bodyguard works with: Follow, Go To, and Stay.

Those three commands, when they are in defensive mode, will protect you from incoming damage.

    8 MMs on a team?

8 MMs is basically the game turned into mush.

No real challenge at all unless you're looking to 8 man the Hamidon.
