    Skyline...

I have zero desire to see this, just the commercials alone scream "crap" to me. Looks like a terrible movie.
  2. Many years ago... 1st Add. AD&D our regular group.

We're deep in some dark, dank, and dangerous dungeon (custom made, by one of our GMs) and we are of course searching for some amazing treasure trove. My character is walking "point" and fails to detect a trap door in the floor. In an instant I vanish down a "slide" where I land on my feet in a large natural cavern at the bottom, but in about 8 inches of stinking muck/sewage (I am told this privately by the GM).

I quickly note the large neo-otyugh that has been alerted to my presence:

Neo-otyugh is the larger more intelligent version of this:
An otyugh is an aberration with a large (eight feet in diameter), bloated body covered with a rock-like skin that is brownish gray in color, which is in turn covered with dung. An adult otyugh usually weighs around 500 pounds. Its three thick legs give an otyugh slow ground movement, but enable it to pivot quickly. With three eyes on a leaf-like stalk that moves quickly from side to side, it can quickly scan a large area. An otyugh's primary means of attack is by two long tentacles which are laden with bony thorn-like ridges.

Quickly realizing that the "slide" would be unclimbable, and that I was about to become a snack for the monstrous turd-burglar, I excitedly exclaimed up the "slide" to my fellow party members: "Wow! You guys should see all the great $hit down here!"

The most greedy of my fellow party members immediately launched themselves down the slide, assuming I had found some amazing treasure trove. Not to be left alone, the less greedy quickly followed. they quickly found themselves in a heap, many face down in the muck... my "help" had arrived!

I think we all laughed for a good 20 minutes before we actually got to the fight with the poo-monster.
  3. Watched the first half of last night's episode, with my daughter.

    We both thought it sucked
  4. I'm not a min maxer.

I hate the mechanics of superspeed and my old computer... and Superheroes FLY!!!!

(Fly and super jump are my usual travel powers)
  5. I'm old. I started RPG's back in 1978 with Dungeons and Dragons. My first computer was a Timex Sinclare 1000.

I've played tons of MMORPGs and pen and paper RPGs over the decades. I was a fan of Champions back in the day (with friends) and when CoH came out... we had to play.

I played for several months at launch then took a multi year break as I played other games with friends. I just came back this summer to CoX. It is simply an AMAZING game.
  6. I'm sorry, I've been on a 14 day bender of Taco Bell, beer, and deviled eggs. My gass is epic and everyone keeps running inside when I go in those zones.
  7. Must get... must... must have... my precious!

In at least one game I can think of (it'll go unnamed but I'm sure everyone knows which one I mean) the endgame doesn't increase your options. It narrows them. Sure there's so many max level raids you could do, but few people do any of them - except for speed runs to gear up for that one 'end of the end game' raid.
Not vastly different from my experience, other than I've been in other games for years.

Something I have noticed in about every game I've played: an expansion is release and the most ravenous consumers of the game are literally crying in a few days that they have finished all the content. Then people ask have you done X? "No, I don't do X part of the game." Have you done Y? "No, I don't do Y part of the game." Have you done Z? "No, I don't do Z part of the game."

I learned over my years of gaming that there are always people that gobble up content faster than anyone could make quality content... they rush through it and they play at a quantity and pace that is far greater than the bulk of the player base. CoH must be doing something right to be here after this many years, having just released new content.

Oh, and sometimes we just play too much and get burnt out... that's not the developer's fault.
  9. Local GameStop here in the States called me the night prior to launch to remind me of my pre order. I went after work to pick it up, they had none on display and went into the back room. Eventually the lady returned with the box and no mousepad or whatever it was supposed to be, they got NONE of them.

Rings me up, and I look for my code on the little print out receipt.. no code for the "goodies". She calls another store, they can't help her, she calls some sort of support phone number and gets put on hold.

After 45 minutes of waiting they finally hook me up (this required a total shut down and re-boot of their computers in the middle of a busy mall store with at least 25 customers there).

    Meh.
  10. We have time. We've attained spaceflight in my lifetime. Our sun has plenty of fire left in it, and barring something cataclysmic we've got time to tiptoe out into space.

    Don't Panic
  11. As someone who recently returned after years and years on not playing, I want to say that making different characters and trying them for just a few levels has helped me a LOT. The same goes for my daughter who I drafted into playing with me. I have a low 40's blaster from when I played at open beta and launch that I've still barely touched because I still feel so new.

I'm new, I'm green, and I'm having a blast. Oh, and great community too!
  12. 1. Offline SG invites! please??!
    2. Log out to character selection screen.
  13. Still feeling overwhelmed, but enjoy every minute I get to play. I'm just soloing my lowbie defender to get the feel of the game again, while my 40ish baster stays in retirement
  14. I have to say I'm having a blast, I've been gone so long it's like a totally new game!
  15. Cozmic's Playground??

    Sorry, I'm really rusty
  16. I just came back yesterday after years. Just quit WoW. I'm so totally lost it's not funny, don't even know where to start. Started a couple new toons just to get the feeling of the game again. My old 41-ish blaster looks great but I don't remember anything about him lol.
  17. Note: Sorta off topic, so sory in advance.

I guess what eats me is a total lack of response concerning blasters.

Ok, not picking on the above poster... but...

Why do people keep posting and starting new threads crying about BLASTERS ?

Is the issue simply about soloing Smoke Grenade blasters don't want to change the they way they were playing? There have been plenty of */Dev blaster that have posted that they are still soloing fine (maybe not mowing down 100's of purples at a time... but...)

I know, as an Ice/Elec blaster that nothing has changed for me. I've seen lots of other blasters saying they have no problems, it appears to me that there isn't really a blaster problem, but simply a handful of SG blasters running to the boards and posting and crossposting over and over again.

I think it comes down to this: there is a group of forum posters that are upset about the "fix/nerf" of SG. So, they come here and make these broad/general posts of doom and gloom on various sections of these forums, and many fail to point out that their only real gripe is that SG got nerfed. They want to stir up a big poo-storm and they can't if they simply say "I quit because SG got nerfed"... they NEED more drama: "OMG blasters can no longer solo!"

Statesman, I've noticed that you've been talking about making mobs tougher (although increasing their xp), and also making changes (making them weaker, I am assuming) to blaster AOEs, all because you believe that the game post 30 is too easy.

Is this the correct way to fix the issue at large? Making mobs tougher and making our AOE weaker will only make our job as blasters more tough. Some will call it challenging, but I don't see it as challenging in a fun way, rather more frustrating to gain xp. This is especially true since most of our attacks rely heavily on alpha strike. We really can't survive long term engagements. You must know this, yet you seem set on this course.

The larger issue - making the game more challenging post 30 - cannot be solved by making the same mobs that we've been fighting all this time suddenly tougher. In fact, even though I like what you did with update 2, introducing different types of mobs is only a short term solution. People will soon get bored with doing the same thing over and over again. Instead, if you want to make the game challenging, you should really focus on pvp and SG-specific issues like HQs.

ANy way, this is my 2 cents. This is not intended as a whine.. just a concern from a dedicated blaster who hopes to see the game grow into a more enjoyable form

Super Group Head Quarters and PVP will make the game more challenging post 30????

    I don't get it.

If they nerf my Fire/Dev blaster again after Smoke Grenade, I will be moving on to WoW.

    Have fun!
