I have only 1 real accomplishment that I feel I can brag about:
When I was badge-hunting, I liked doing a lot of things the "right" way. So when I decided to go for the pvp badges, I jumped right in. I had a build not made specifically for pvp, and as often as not, I got my butt handed to me. But after a few weeks of a few hours here, a few there, I got myself that 400 rep. Just me in RV, sometimes teamed with others, often against superior numbers, grinding out pvp kills. The best part: it was fun as hell.
On a semi-related note: I'm trying to decide where Topher's resting place will be, if it comes down to it. I'm trying to think of someplace specifically that has to do with badge hunting, but atm I'm stumped. -
I used to go to the beta forums looking for EvilRyu's posts so that I could argue with him.

Quote:Did anyone ever find the "right" way to defeat Hamidon? I always wondered this. When a way of beating it was found, the devs of the time (Jack et al) would plug that hole in the next patch and the whole thing would start over again. They were apparently waiting for someone of finding the "right" way to do it, and I'm not sure that the players ever did.

Bertha Venation, you inspired my main villain, Lee Vitoll Behind.

In his defense, he set up permissions so that only the Leader (him) could remove some of these things (namely the salvage and enhancements). In my defense, once he left, that rank went to someone else, therefore it was their decision as to what to do with it. :-)

Well, I was never involved in any of the big secrets or anything...there's only 1 thing I ever did that is confession-worthy.
A little background....my first ever character was a fire/fire blaster, Torched Earth, on Protector. I joined a SG, Knights of the Crimson Fist, and became pretty good friends with the SG Leader. September of 06, I left for Iraq, having pretty much only played this character, while making friends with a handful or ppl in this SG (and many others not in the SG). When I came back, the SG was barely active, and the previous leader had been gone so long he was no longer in the SG. He came back on shortly after I did, we talked, I got the new SG leader to invite and re-promote my friend to Leader. A few months went by, he went inactive again, secondary Leader became leader again.
A couple years passed, I was now a loyal member of the Justice server, on my new main Topher Wade. Out of curiosity, I logged back into Torched, and noticed the SG was completely inactive. The newish leader had been gone for about 6 months, and through attrition, I was about next in line to get leader spot.
After about a month, Torched became the leader. A couple months went by, and I realized I never played Torched anymore. I then looted every good Set IO, invention salvage piece, and Hami-O. Stopped playing the toon, and after a couple months, logged on to find him booted from the SG, with the following in my email:
From: Syanth (the new/secondary leader)
Subject: SG Base
Quote:I made hundreds of millions of inf off of what I looted, which in turn financed a lot of Topher's build (well, a few purple and pvp set IOs). I also never felt bad about it.Hello- I am sorry that you feel you can take my items from the SG base. They were never intended to be public and taken by anyone. If you needed help with leveling or building a toon or with some influence I would have been very happy to assist you. It is too bad you felt you can take items from the base without even asking (or thanking me for the effort it took to collect all of those items. --Curtis" -

I'm a little ashamed that I effectively stopped playing a year ago. Had I known this was coming, I'da played until the end. Now I'm stuck in Preemium, unable to play the Incarnate stuff I've missed, unable to collect the event badges of the past year, unable to collect the Incarnate badges I've missed. Even so, I'll be on just about everyday until I can't play anymore.

Well, I guess there never really was any chance that we could avoid it. These past few years of playing, ever since Ouroboros came to be, we were warned. The Praetorian invasion was just a ruse to keep us busy while those in charge at NCSoft lined us up for annihilation. As the heroes we are, we must fight on to save our universe and our City.
We were warned about Mender Silos, yet we were distracted by Tyrant. In the end, it was all a Nemesis plot. It was always a Nemesis plot. -
That's actually what I was trying to do....get rid of the old, put in the new. While updating my BIOS got the computer to start up with the new RAM installed, it wouldn't make it passed the login screen, and at best restarts while typing in my password. Most often, however, it either freezes at the beginning of BIOS, or right after. I'm thinking I might have to see if NewEgg will let me replace my new RAM with something from Crucial (which I've been told on the Dell forums is guaranteed to work for these computers).

Quote:I made sure they were in the correct slots, the 2 with the white clips. I'm also pretty sure they were seated correctly...I did the exact same thing each time, and the only times I had a problem was when the 2 new sticks were in there at the same time. I'm working on updating my BIOS right now to see if that helps. Other than that, I'm gonna have to contact GSkill to see if they can help at all.My first question is:
By "1st slot" and "2nd slot" do you mean slots 1 an 3 on your motherboard? Your manual points out that (like most dual channel capable motherboards) that for proper set up two sticks should be in the first and third slots. (You don't know how hard this was to learn coming from before dual channel motherboards... ;-P)
They should have the same color "clips" on the ends to hold the sticks in place. If your black and white manual is any gauge, and I'm not saying it is, they should be white clips.
Second, and perhaps final question, is:
Are you sure they were both seated properly on the board? I have worked on motherboards that took a lot more pressure than I was comfortable using to get memory sticks to seat properly. -
Quote:That's what I've done...going inactive in 4 days, I've kicked anyone from my (inactive anyway) SGs so that I don't lose all that work,The OP hasn't been gone that long. I checked his post history and he had an active account in Sept 2010. He may be one of those players that takes frequent breaks from the game since I can see he has been posting for a few months every year since 2005.
So he's been around long enough to know how SG's work and his account was active when I14 went live and the Super Leader rank was introduced.
If the OP really wanted to make sure that SG was in his control when he returned after his latest hiatus he should have turned it into a solo SG before leaving. -
I have a Dell XPS 720 that is 4 years old, currently has 2GB of RAM with Windows 7 64-bit. I just bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-209-_-Product and when I installed it I got the 1,3,4 diagnostic lights on my computer (which has no code description in the manual). I took one out, while leaving the other in the 1st slot, turned the computer on, and it worked. I switched them, with the 2nd stick in the 1st slot, and it worked. Then I reinstalled them both (1 in 1st, 1 in 2nd slot), and got the diagnostic lights again (no POST, BIOS, nothing on screen). I reinstalled the original memory this morning, and it's working fine.
A scan by Crucial says that my computer will accept PC2-6200, which is what I have, where I'm replacing PC2-5300 sticks. Does anyone here have any insight as to why the two sticks won't work for me?

Thanks in advance to anyone with any ideas. -
Well if SG Leaders lose their rank, I'ma hafta sell everything that I have on one toon...

Is it known yet it Freemium players will be able to be in or in charge of super groups? I'm planning on not paying anymore, and have a few characters in charge of several different SG/VGs, and am hoping that I won't get the boot from the group or the leadership position when this goes live.

Quote:I think it will take a couple of minutes to create each mish, and that they can have about 50 added per issue. How quickly do you think the devs can create and balance incarnate-level missions that will take a 'normal' team around 30 minutes to complete, and will also be accessible to solo players? Looking at it another way, how many of those missions do you think it would be realistic to expect to be produced per issue?
JK. Just making some suggestions. -
Quote:I like this idea....you can have a mish with multiple objectives that you get A-Merits each time you complete an objective, up to somewhere from 3-5 objectives, that would take a normal team around 30 minutes to complete. When you complete the final objective, if you've also completed all other objectives, you receive an E-Merit, up to 1 a day. (I know, this sounds kinda like a trial, but the minute differences cater well to the solo/small-team players.)An addition to standard tip missions you could include mayhem and safeguard type missions (under the same contraints as the tip mission timers) with objectives that better suit a small team or solo character focussing on stealth than an army steamrolling everything in its path. (sabotage the portal generator and destroy any cloning vats you come across along the way. each vat destroyed raises the alert level, once alert is triggered you have to avoid detection and make it to the exit; safeguard a primal earth target from a minor praetorian incursion).
This could easily be expanded to allow more praetorian side content as well. Tip missions to help or hinder the invasion. mayhem/safeguard missions to destroy a primal object or defend a praetorian location.
They would also have the bonus of being both solo and standard size team friendly and utilise an eisting mechanic to do so. -
These are some great ideas. I'm thinking that they could just ensure that the individual missions have some sort of time-requirement that forces the missions to last at least 10 minutes each, so in about an hour, you can get 5 Astrals (no more than that and an Emp a day), which is about as long as it takes to run a BAF or Lambda (forming/wait time included), which already get you at least 3 Astrals, 1 Emp, and a component drop.

Quote:That has always made sense to me. And with the requirement that you get none of the other, this would still require multiple runs.Would it be better if say for the one badge we had to collect only the 10 acids and no pacification bombs, but STILL be able to use the acids on the doors? Also for the grenades badge to be able to collect all 10, and NO acids and still be allowed to use the pacification bombs against marauder, the stipulation for both being that you must win the lambda?
The badge for getting 10 of each and not using them at all I am fine with, it's the other two. -
I don't remember where, but a redname posted at one point that the point of the MoLambda badges was to have to run it multiple times. That in and of itself I don't have a problem with....it's the fact that we have to do the same thing 3 times that is ridiculous.

Woot! Quick question...are we supposed to be making our costumes with the new steampunk pieces?
-
Am I supposed to be logging into Beta Server 01? Also, am I copying character to "Public Test Server" or "Going Rogue Test Server"? (I copied to Public, and he's not there yet....but it just might be taking extra time to get there)
-
Agreed. Now if I could just get in on one where someone doesn't use an acid grenade and ruin the run...
