Rooty tooty, fresh and fruity, Ravenswing what is that woman doing with those swords!?
-
A group of people should be a mob or a crowd, no?
As in a mob of Hellions or a crowd of Skulls?
Or more approprieatly, seeing as they are villainous and gregarious in nature, a gang of Hellions and a gang of Skulls? -
Go for Bug Hunter SS! Go for Bug Hunter!
Raaaaaawwwwwwrrrrrrrr!! -
Hey guys (and gals)!
My sub is coming up and since I haven't been playing (much if at all) I'm considering the worth of renewing it. So, my question is: does anyone know if I can still post on the forums without paying the sub (since I'd still have an account and all) or will I be restricted to reading only? -
This thread right here? Udder nonsense.
Sorry, it had to be done. -
No snow at my /loc at all. Just sun, sun, sun, a cloud, sun, sun... come on rain! Fall already!

Happy b-day you cute, cuddly, huggable lion person you!
Shall I place the local fire brigade on warning call? -
Quote:Depends on whether you do it because you like to collect badges or because you want them to show off to others. If it's the former, then, yes, there still is.I started badge hunting hero side. Makes me wonder though, with GR coming out, if there is any point in badging twice.
My heroine has "Celebrant", which my villain may never get, depending on if those go global or not. Positron said he would look into that, but we never heard anything else.
Sadys has "bug hunter" and "Master thief", and my hero can't get either of those, unless I'm lucky again in the former and they bring back or re-purpose the latter.
So, is it worth doing twice, since after GR the total available will be the same, and neither side has an advantage over the other?
If it's the later well, not much point in having two copies of the same stuff is there?
This is, of course, assuming that all the Hero badges will be available to Rogues and all the Villain badges will be available to Vigilantes.
Either way, I'll still be doing them on my main Hero and main Villain. And here's hoping they doing put in the "choose if you want to go or stay" kind of badges. Those really piss me off. As much as the Patron ones V side do. -

Quote:OK, should have written it more explicitly: you can still complete the mission by starting it over. I meant it in the way that even if someone steals the shards from you, the mission can be restarted, which just adds more time to the task at hand, but does not in any way hinder the fact that it can still be completed regardless of other people interfering with you. Please check your facts before making statements. If you are defeated, you lose your shard/code. Therefore, if you are defeated, you CANNOT complete the mission, and must start over.
If you defeat someone else DOING the mission, you are farther ahead on your own - you have advanced via PVP.
Thanks for the reply anyway. -
Thanks for crushing my hopes under your obsidian stiletto heels.

Quote:You keep using "can". When that "can" changes to "must" you'll have a PvP content mission. While it remains a "can" it will be a PvE content mission.I disagree with the attempts to compare it to, say, getting attacked by a player while trying to get the Men in Black badge. Yes, anything occurring in a PvP zone has a chance of PvP occurring as well, but the Shivan mission has a direct PvP component. PvP directly affects the mission. Not by slowing someone down or just by happening but you can complete the mission by entering PvP. You'll never complete the Men in Black badge by defeating players, no matter how many you go after. You can complete the Shivan mission by engaging in PvP. PvP is an intrinsic part of the Shivan mission. Perhaps not a necessary part but it is intrinsic to it.
None of this means that you have to enjoy PvP or fight back or anything but it seems kind of absurd to insist that the Shivan mission isn't both a PvP and a PvE mission.
Fact of the matter is: if the zone is empty you are able to complete the mission. If the zone has people in it, you are able to complete the mission. If people leave you alone, you are able to complete the mission. If people attack you and defeat you/you defeat them, you are still able to complete the mission.
So, having other people there (or not) does not affect the end result, i.e. PvP is not a requirement for completing the mission. Therefore it is PvE content.
The fact that you "can" do it by defeating others does in no way make it PvP exclusive, or PvP mandatory. Engaging in PvP to complete it is actually silly in the way that it leads to more time spent doing it as you have to wait for the other players to collect the shards and then defeat them (said defeat can take a long time assuming both players are competent).
End of the day, I stand by what I said earlier: I don't like PvP and I won't do it. Ever. YMMV. -
Oh I must've been chewing on a acid carrot... it's 3 to go for me, not 4. And since I'll be getting the one I'm currently working on by next Friday (the 18th), I'm close to the two to go mark. Yay! ^_^
Here's hoping no more are added. -
There isn't? I seem to remember having a toon with it. But as it's one I haven't touched in years, I may be wrong.
-
Good luck with that even if I'll never see you (don't play on Union, Defiant exclusive here).

Quote:But more to the point, didn't they sign up for this game to feel like superheroes? What kind of superhero runs away from a fight they can't lose?
It's not a superhero thing, it's a player thing. I play both sides (oo-er matron!) and if what you described happened to me, on the rare occasions I set foot in a PvP zone (badger here, hi, how you doin'?), I'd run away too as if the devil were chasing me. The experiences I had weren't fun in the least and I positively hate PvP. I understand all the consequences of setting foot in the zone but as I don't want to partake in the 'fun' I'll run as soon as I'm attacked. It's not about losing 1 minute or 10 seconds of my time, it's about the frustration I get, the rising of my blood pressure and me nerves.
Not all of us invest their time in the same ways or get that in depth knowledge of what works with what powers and what doesn't. I've been playing this game since June 05 and I had no idea about what you were talking in your original post power wise. It seems to make sense, but I'd still run like all heck was breaking lose if a Stalker *** me or a Brute came running towards me.
I just don't like PvP and I won't do it. Ever. -
All of my characters (20) have Bios (and all of them are truncated, dagnabbit). I write them at the time of creation. They may be tweaked along the character's progression to level 50 and in some cases, beyond.
