  1. No! Put it all in a seperate folder if you must, but some of those non-colored pieces are my favorite. I have my gallery organized by their age... I think. You should do the same.
  2. I say as long as you give accurate estimates on the time it will take, you can take a good long time. People can't complain when you tell them what it will be up front. Well... they can complain, but not rightfully so.

I say showing WIP's are important. Customers are fickle creatures, and may decide they didn't like what they thought they'd love. Unless they want a surprise.

Keeping the customer happy is an art itself. There is no universal solution. Each one comes with their own challenges. If you're good you can stab them in the back and they'll brag to all their friends about the free knife.

Just kidding on that last part.
  3. As far as anatomy is concerned I think you have the majority of it down. Anatomy books are great, but I don't think you NEED them. Just the tricks to remember certain things would help, such as a hand is usually as big as the character's face, etc.

Draw your weak areas. Over and over. Make them the focal point of the picture. Reference pictures or even better, real life when you do it. You will make noticable improvements faster.

    Wherlwind

The poses you are coming out with are so fresh. Awesome work!
  5. Thank you all for the feedback, I used just about every piece of advice given, here is the result.

    Here is what I added/changed

Added Handler's arm holding warwolf whistle
moved belt to make his legs longer, torso shorter, and improve perspective
    thickened torso
changed bottom of overcoat to show other boot better
    added definition to legs
added more wrinkles to Fenris' nose
Blacked out the whites of Fenris' eyes to make them appear less human
made hair on back stand up instead of regular
    made tail thicker
    added Fenris' control chains

Fenris wouldn't be Fenris without the long sharp ears. They stay!

There's a saying I heard one of my art professors say in college, "Art is never completed. Only abandoned."

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is immediately what I thought of when I read the title. That quote is by Leonardo Da Vinci.
  7. I love mine. 100% of what I do is with it now. Been using it for almost two years I think and it has been very reliable. I can only recommend Wacom though, as I haven't tried any other brands. I have a 6x11 I think. I would recommend a smaller one if you want to travel with it. 6x8 seems like a good size. You can zoom in easily with them.

Try Amazon.com, or Ebay if you are willing to risk it. Overstock.com has other brands for very good prices, but I can't vouch for them.

Also, Wacom comes with a basic photoshop which allows you to do a lot. I don't think the others do.
  8. It looks awesome. Fav'ed

I always thought LJ was a SS/Invuln tanker. What are her powers?
  9. On this piece. It's just a WIP, but the line art is mostly done aside from the background. Advanced critique encouraged. Redline it if you want. I want to get an idea of how far I have to go before I can open up for commissions, something I have been thinking about trying for a while.

I know the guy has no eyebrows. For some reason unknown to me I always draw him that way.
  10. Good you. Evil you. I thought about getting more detailed, but decided not to since I don't know what it's for or what you are going for.
  11. I can do that. I am going to work though, so if nobody else does it by the time I get back I will do it.

Yeah, that's an interesting subject, Zekiran.
I hadn't ever thought of it from the standpoint of the major sales of original cels.
Heh, I wonder how much of a blow that may have been for Disney (Maybe they'd have to sell off a tiny bit of the world that they own).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think Disney would give up something they've been doing for fifty years if they were making less money in the new medium.
  13. If it was worse in quality I would say no, it would be worth less. Two pieces that are exactly the same, one created by traditional means, the other created on a computer is different. Traditional would be worth more. You get to see more of the artist in their work. Digital may be worth less, but it is also more forgiving. Mistakes are much easier to correct, you can do many different things more easily, such as moving one character behind another up to the front and back, or move them all around the picture, changing color schemes, add filters, and endless other possibilities. I dare say you could make many pieces from one piece, although I always start from scratch. I am doing a piece right now that I will be able to divide into two more, seperating characters in a way I couldn't with traditional media.

I would say traditional fetches more, digital is more flexible and easier in some ways.
  14. Well, I don't draw with the intention of becoming a famous comic book artist. Maybe a few comissions, but it's mostly a hobby.

Plus, there's always a first for everything. It's not like a Wacom is a crutch. You still have to draw well to draw well.
  15. Save up for one of these. You can do anything with them. I got one and it has made things a LOT easier. I suppose in the very long run you could save money too. No paper or pencils, inking pens, or any other tools needed.
  16. Posted on DA, but will put it here too. Good luck with your Muay Thai gym. I think that is very cool.

I feel the textures are too clean. Add some grit, shading and texture with hatching (many parallel lines close together). It should feel crowded, he is surrounded on all sides. I would even suggest to either crop it down so the demons on the edges are a bit cut off. It will feel like there are more of them and more claustophobic on the hero. I would even add the 3/4 profile of some heads facing the hero in the very foreground.

I think it is very good. Just needs to be more gritty and in your face I think.

I hope to see you back on the boards soon.

    Best of 2008

Almost forgot, my most favorited piece, "Where Do You Want This?" I think it might be my favorite that I have done too.

My favorite commission. By Chamba. I am going to have to pay him to color it.

    Supernova

New arts here. I'm really happy with how it turned out but I am glad I am done with it. Now I can give my attention back to the list of surprise gifts. Watch for updates.

    Oh, and comments welcome.

    New Nike IX Art

Those are all VERY cool! Wonderful collection.
  21. The first thought that came to my mind is she is a genetic scientist. She became obsessed with the next evolutionary step of meta-humans. Particularly in fire/ice control. So she began conducting experiments on herself. Highly dangerous, highly unethical, so if she is a hero she is not black and white. You know what I mean? She is good but not without her flaws.
  22. 5. The costume doesn't look super futuristic to me. It reminds me of the Rocketeer. The 5th one has the best retro look to it I think.
