Quote:because given a choice I will simply pursue more efficient use of my limited game play time. I wont lose any sleep over the fact that the decision will not always be Freakshow above all other mobs.If you don't care about the nerf, why would it effect your gameplay? One half of that statement has to be false, logically.
I change what I do because of things I dont care about all the time. For example, this young woman I am waiting on at this very moment could very well have her ample breasts spill out into full public display at any second. She is litterally about to erupt into a boobsplosion. I would like to stare in the event this blessed event should occur. But the consequences of doing so would be a bother, what with the yelling, the hitting, and the firing. I dont care one whit that she might object to my lechery, but I restrain myself because the costs are potentially more bother than they are worth. I dont care about her objection, if her opinion was worth anything, she wouldn't have poured her body into a tank top that is CLEARLY too small for her assets. But her objection would lead to other things, so I alter my behaviour.
Oh hell, she's stretching for something. I'd better go help her out. -
Quote:Let the record state that I refuse to run the unfun, unrewarding, hugely time intensive Hamidon encounter. This thread keeps getting stupider every time I read it.
Don't like the change? Avoid freakshow. I'm still gonna be plowing through them and getting X amount of XP while I do so.
This change is FAR TOO FARKING SMALL for it to be raising this kind of a stink.
Want to talk about REAL risk/time vs reward problems in the game? Go run a Hamidon raid and get back to me.
Can not believe people are bent out of shape about this. Farking pathetic.
Also, dude, I don't care about the nerf. I really don't. I'm just discussing how it will effect my gameplay. -

Quote:At least 1 per mission in newspapers, the average paper mission taking about 10 minutes, and for the sake of argument 5 minutes travel time just to be generous. So 4 an hour at a minimum, if I'm solo.Serious question, Blood Spectre:
How often are you encountering Bosses in a situation that is going to make a significant difference in your ability to chew through encounters?
I'm specifically talking of solo play, as in a group that's well put together that 50% life loss is going to make it that much easier for everyone else to drop.
(DISCLAIMER: This is really a serious question. They did tweak the spawn code recently [right? Or am I crazy?] so that bosses spawn more often at even difficulties. But even then...)
I also run on the even difficulties, because I like Boss fights, and I like having lots of guys in my missions, even if I am on a single target specialist. It's a max loot/minute thing.
Now of course that's just newspapers. This would also effect some of my favorite content missions in the game too.
Doc Buzzsaw, Diviner Maros, Hard Luck, Westin Phipps, all some of my favorite contacts who feature Freakshow heavily in their arcs.
So I'd say, seriously it's a factor in my gameplay decisions. In the same way that my Electric/Electric Brute tears through Malta and Rikti like they are nothing, but can't solo Arachnoid EBs. So yeah it's a factor that will weigh in my decisions as I play, solo. On a team, I'm not as picky. Nobody wants to be the ******* looking down his nose at a team mate's mission, not even me.
Also, my objection to the change is mild. I don't care that the rewards were cut. For minions and lts, the change is sensible. It doesn't make sense for bosses though. That's my position, but I don't care about it enough to fight for it, only enough to explain it.
I don't care because the game is good enough that I can find content that isn't under rewarding for my time to enjoy on those characters that struggle against Tanks. On a character that chews through them, they would be just another option. Whereas before I would take them on, even with a sub optimal build for facing them, because they gave excellent rewards (and they almost never spawn in caves. I gawdamned hate caves!). That and I really like The Freakshow. They look cool on the screen, they have great dialogue, and they generally entertain me. But that's not enough for me to endure them on a character that would struggle with them. -
Quote:I'm not sure what makes this position so difficult for some people to understand.Protip:
Not everyone is you.
I don't pay much attention to numbers, but if an enemy is extra annoying, or under-rewarding for the amount of effort they take to defeat, I'm going to choose a different path when possible.
So will a lot of other people.
Example. Project Dragonfly, my Ninja Blade/ EA Stalker avoided Freakshow whenever possible. Same thing with Nemean, my Claws/ Regen Stalker. Same reason for both characters. Tanks still have more than 50% of their health after BU+AS. That's a lot of scrapping to hack through without crits. In fact, if it weren't for the Stalker tweaks, I think I'd have pulled my hair out doing it with Claws.
In the same amount of time, either character could have been mowing through Carnies, Council, or hell even CoT. It just didnt make sense for those toons to waste time trying to stab what is essentially a big metal bulkhead.
Other characters of course experienced different results. But the core principle of my argument is this; it is very much a common and understandable position that one would seek only to play the game in a way that is most optimal for one's abilities.
If that means avoiding enemies that are just as hard or harder, but give less rewards than other options, then that is to be expected, and is in no way an oddity. -
This is a minor issue, seriously. I farm as much as the next guy, probably more. But I don't scribble down every number for maximum results.
Here's the facts. Freakshow have end drain, dull pain, self rez, allies that cast rez, abundant mezzes, and bosses with high Smash/Lethal resist.
That doesn't sound like an enemy group that should be worth less than The Council to me.
But, I don't really care. I might care more on my next run through the game with a Weapon using character though. -
Just let me know when you decide on a primary/secondary and I'll pencil it in
-
Let me know what you guys decide and I'll update the roster
-
Yeah, we cant all have a pocket /Kin :-(

I'd like to introduce you all to my story, which I call King of Thieves. It's a villainous story focusing on my re-imagining of some of the classic low level foes; The Hellions, The Skulls, and The Goldbrickers.
King Midas, the much storied master of The Goldbrickers, is making a power play for uncontested control of Cap Au Diable's underworld. Unfortunately for him, two rival gangs, The Hellions and The Skulls, have both experienced an unexplained surge in their numbers and power, and have even shown signs of co-operation against him. In order to break up the rival gangs, Midas turns to you, to do what his men can't. Will you stand with the King of Thieves?
Features:
- All missions scale from 1-54, so the story can be enjoyed by characters of every level.
- Unique and balanced but challenging custom enemy groups in every arc.
- Unique custom bosses and Elite Bosses.
- No timed missions.
- No escorts.
- No mary sues.
- Defeat Alls, but only when it makes sense.
Try it now!
King of Thieves Part 1: All Hell's Breaking Loose Arc ID 76190
King of Thieves Part 2: Unholy Union Arc ID 197624
King of Thieves Part 3: Honor Among Thieves Arc ID 313998 -
Added your choice to the roster!

Looks like good stuff. Can't wait!
-
Man that sucks for you guys on the Euro servers. As far as I'm concerned you deserve a chance to test the new stuff as much as anyone else paying money to play this game.
I'd give one of you my spot if I could. -
Alright I'll change the list to add Betty. Heh.
Also, I-16 just went into Open Beta, so we will be starting soon (tm) -
I haven't posted in a dUmb thread in awhile.
That is all. -
Looks like we're getting quite a bit of interest! Just some quick input for everyone.
Obviously, nobody knows when Issue 16 goes live, and nobody can really guess with any amount of accuracy. But what I do know is they are getting ready to move it to open Beta, and after that point it will probably be a week or two at the minimum. So we have a little while to finalize our builds and the like.
Also, seeing a lot of Dominator interest out there, which is awesome. I would like to squeeze at least one brute or mastermind in, just for those situations we can't mez our way out of. Everyone is encouraged to play what they want though. Just putting it out there for players still on the fence about their choice, we need meat shields.
Finally, like I said, if we get more than 8, that is not a problem. We'll gather and split into teams as evenly as possible, and make sure we all do the same missions. The goal here is to bring the Infinity redside community together as much as possible. So don't think of the slots as being limited. If you're interested, throw your hat in! I'll make space for you. -
Yeah starting up with issue 16. Which should be soon!
-
I'll add you both to the list now. Let me know when you decide what you want to play.
-
Did you guys want to join as definates or maybes?

Quote:Those people will get their turn. And the rest of us will be there complaining that we're not getting new powers or epics when they do. And so the worm turns...Some people honestly don't care about power customization. Quite a few, actually. So for those who don't care about power customization, this issue doesn't give alot.
Not to mention I15 was story light (two badly written TF's), and I14 had basically no story at all (make your own).
I'm excited for power customization but I can understand that others would like some actual story content. -
Wow, there's a lot to cover here.
Scissor Man can't wait to go chewing through 8 player size Cimeroran Squads with no Perfect Castrators or whatever the Cimeroran bosses are called. Also, Longbow minus the Wardens! Suck it!
There is no way every archetype is getting a fifth epic pool. How would you add a fifth pool to villains? It would take something special, and I think we would have heard about that by now.
I'm having a hard time imagining what "color tintable" effects would look like. I cant wait to find out though!
Man I cant wait for this issue! -
Quote:Play whatever one grabs your interest most. I'm thinking that it'll be light RP at the most, basically just a gang of super criminals cooperating for profit.I've got at least 3 concepts burbling around in my head, one a brute, one a corrupter, and one a mastermind. So, my question is: How so serious?
The MM would be a cross between Betty Boop and Victor Von Doom, so, yeah... not very. The corruptor would pretty much be your standard 4-color "Hey, Kids! Comics!!" sorta villain, while the brute would be a tragic/serious type. I'd be happy playing any of them, but I don't want to harsh anyone's mood by playing to an inappropriate tone. So I thought I'd ask, first.
We do need some aggro management from the looks of it, but play whatever you like. -
I made a seperate list for alternates and maybes. It will be okay if we wind up with more than 8, as that will give us some wiggle room if someone misses a session, ect. Also, we can split into two smaller teams on nights we have more than 8, and still be eligible for most of the content in the game.
