I live in Ken-tuck-ay (that is the correct pronunciation ) and I got about a foot of snow. Maybe an inch or two less. And more on the way.

And to bring up a conversation that was mentioned on the first page. "Ya'll" is commonly used down here in the South as a contraction of "ya" (meaning you) and "all." It is only correctly used when referring to a group of people. Calling a single person "ya'll" is a very clear indicator that the speaker has no idea what the hell they're talking about.

Anyway, that clears up all that.

I know I'm not the only one that has touched plaques and expected to get a badge.

But my worst experience was one time when I was really tires and I was walking around... when I noticed I was "typing" the "WASD" keys in the air to move around. I fit my fingers in the air just like I do on the keyboard. It was kind of freaky.

And also, because of CoH my permanent typing position for my fingers is to have my left hand ALWAYS on the "WASD" keys, with my thumb on the space bar, and my right hand on the mouse. Every. Single. Time. I can't help it any more. So this game has LITERALLY altered the way I do things in my day-to-day life.

You are completely right. This game was a life-changer for me, because it allowed me to use my rather powerful imagination. I got this game when I was twelve years old, and my brother was actually seven! Five (almost six!) years later and we're still playing, with the newest additions being my eight, seven, and six year old brothers.

This game is one in a million.

Well, let's see...

I used to play almost exclusively Tanks, but these days I don't play any at all. My only remaining Tank is sitting lonely and neglected on the Liberty server.

I never used to make Blasters because both my brother and father would play them all the time. Now I play them quite a bit, although this may be because neither my brother or father play the game much any more.

And I've never been able to play Brutes. I really like the powers and the Rage, but every time I roll one up I get bored and do something else. >_<

Am I the only one that remembers the character Souperman, from the planet Crouton? He was posted on this board years ago, and I actually saw him in the game once. A hilarious parody of Supoerman, quite obviously. Does anyone know what happened to him? I mean, I remember him from BEFORE capes, so I will understand if no-one remembers... >_>

But I'd always wondered. Did he ever get Generic'd?

First off, welcome to the game!

Second, if you just want to play, I echo SwellGuy and say just grab a pre-made costume. If you don't want to do that and want to enjoy how you character looks, they are certainly good guidelines to follow, and you could just one and alter it. Or, you can come up with an idea (robot, ninja, pirate, etc.) and only use costume parts that work with that idea. Or combine them and become a Robot Ninja Pirate!

The possibilities are endless!

If it helps, I once made a character with a very, very offensive name completely by accident. It's the only character I've ever have generic'd. I think mine is worse than yours, really. So you're not alone!
