Very nice drawing! I look forward to see more of your CoH pictures

There is many RP SG's around, but honestly I don't know much about them. I'd suggest contacting them ingame and seeing where that takes you. Members from several hang around Galaxy Girl at least and that's "easy" way to get in contact with them.
For RP'ed missions there is IC channel to find other heroes, here's link to the thread:Fusion FM
If there wasn't link to the GGWiki yet, that's a good resource as well (and I don't have the link at hand right now but it is on couple of people's sigs.)
Good luck finding RP! Feel free to come chat to Pyranha when she's around.

I did like the unmarked dialogue. It wasn't that unclear who was speaking (i've read similar type of things where it is VERY confusing.) The whole thing reminded me of movie trailer/teaser with the fast pace and focus on dialogue and short descriptions of the places. There was some grammar errors, most noticable was "you're" used instead of "your".
Personally I would cut the "lead texts" even more. For example "two days later" isn't really necessary, it is clear from the context it happens shortly after and it doesn't really matter if it's day, two days or a week. I might even make the leads shorter and more bulletinpoint style "It's early in the morning..." into "Early morning in a dingy kitchen..." and so on.
It was nice, I liked the down-to-earth and shabby feel of the story. It is just a guy who wasn't succeeding in life, maybe he wasn't so evil as just lacking in morals (and perhaps in wits) and who knows where his path will now. Will he become hardened criminal or is there hope of salvation? It has lot of character development possibilities.
Pyranha -
I don't have time to get around reading all the stories posted here, but I read this one and liked it. So yes, you should write more.
PS. I don't think it's problem if two characters have same name as long as it doesn't break the rules. How many of us has truly original and unique name?
Pyranha -
Cool drawings, Rose! I like them a lot. Especially my evil twin sister.
Did you color them with (ugh, what's it called?) marker -type of pen or at computer? I have tried to learn to color like that, but I just slip into shades and more shades all the time.

Galaxy Girl Wiki: Supergroups, Characters, Players, and Plots
Just to republicise the Wiki for those who may not have seen it: there is a great deal of player-input detail there on such things which you may find useful.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed, I should have mentioned that in my post. That is a good resource, and nicely full with information (although on regards plot-information it seemed a bit lacking). However it is "just" for the GG and I don't know if a) non-GG RPers would feel comfortable posting their details there and b) if "the GG crowd" would appreciate non-GGers butting in.

It's their character's you're playing with after all, and anyone involved needs to know they're being listened to. No one wants to learn that their character has suddenly been thrust into a plot they had little knowledge of.
[/ QUOTE ]
Correction. Some people LIKE to have their character thrust into a plot that they had little knowledge of. I do. It's better if it comes from someone who plays in similar manner as I do but I'm willing to roll with strangers plot just as well. If there comes a point where I think the plot isn't something that interests me, I will distance myself from it.
[ QUOTE ]
All of the roleplayers here understand the IC =/= OOC knowledge rule, so you're in no danger of having someone rush off and spill the beans when their character isn't supposed to know.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, people might understand that rule, but personally I prefer to keep myself from knowing certain things OOCly before I know them IC. In some cases it is just impossible NOT to be influenced by the OOC information, and quite often the OOC information colors the perception. I am immersive roleplayer, and I play a lot on instinct. If I KNOW the exit is on the right corridor and not left, I cannot use my char's instincts to choose, I'll have to start analyzing the situation or just randomly pick one.
I am possibly derailing from the subject, but I wanted to use that to demonstrate that roleplayers CAN be very diverse in what they want and how they play. Sometimes these playstyles do not mix at all. Trying to unify that is just doomed to fail (and I don't think anyone wanted to unify all the roleplayers as much as create lines of communication and easier access to information between them).
I have seen player-base run server forums thrive and succeed so it certainly can be done, but it requires lot of effort from LOT of people and quite often they fail. Right now we do have this forum, and Union server forum who can satisfy lot of needs of the players. One must carefully look what is indeed desired from the new forum. Can it be covered here? That is the easiest solution. If not, is there really enough content for the new forum? Possibly, you could set up a place for information and have the link stickied in this forum.
For me, list of roleplayers, characters and supergroups would be very useful, and would have been even more so when I started out here couple of months ago. Also precise, tight plot-summaries, information of the player created content and small introduction to the RP in CoH would have been great.
For example, the GG thread on Union forum has plot summaries but no one is going to read close to 1000 pages to see what has been going on and many of the summaries are quite confusing to a new person since lot of things are assumed to be known. There is several player based addition to the game world, famous people, big companies, renowed scientists that logically would be known IC and could be used in other plots to create more immersive enviroment. (From minor details to joint plots. "Oh, Blackdove Industries? My uncle used to work there." or feud between two rival robotics masterminds, where each is trying to undermine the other.) Now, I am not saying that everyone should accept what others have created or have anything to do with it (certainly not, since I bet there is concepts that just won't mix). BUT the information that something like that exists cannot hurt, can it?
Thanks Hikari-Hime for your constructive posts, they've given me lot of thoughts.

Maybe you could add some tag before your message to the channel to identify your hero. "<Pyranha> Requesting aid with Vahzilok."
Great to see this idea being implemented, I be sure to join.

In my book, that earns a big no-no stamp.
If the RPing was your brainchild, and based completely on a forum, then yes...GMs are fine and dandy and needed; but we, as the players, have no say over RPing on CoH/V.
[/ QUOTE ]
Possibly Coile was meaning GMing in more traditional sense, as someone who makes up and runs plots and NPC's. Since there is indeed no way to "rule" over other players and I doubt he would want that anyway. Having a say over general RP in any MMO would IMO be like herding headless chicken with nasty tempers.
NO ONE is looking to dictate how other people should RP (as far as I know, and that would be futile attempt anyway.) Building up community or any kind of system needs people to want to be part of it and want to be "playing on the same team".
No one can give or take any power over another player that the player does not wish it. No one is trying to. The aim is to create stories, plots, NPC's, common backgrounds for those players WHO WANT THAT. Or that's how I see it anyway.

The chicken or the egg discussion. You say I won't change them, I say I can't. They have been long established characters, I can't simply -just- change something in their backkground, or de-allign them from their SG. What in the world would the justification be, aside from just being ooc? Sorry, but I don't believe in just adjusting my character's entire story, just to fit it into something to fit the occasion. Then what's the point of even roleplaying??
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I am missing your point here. You have established characters that would not be interested in coalition, and you don't want to start a new one. That's fine. But why does it matter if other characters want to start a coalition and do so? (characters you would not be interracting with anyhow due to your chars being in exclusive SG's and having their own established plotlines and circles.)
Personally, I think that SG, or coalition, creates more interaction between RPers, and that is always a good. It can be viewed as exclusive, but it is no more or less exclusive than any group of people.
Not to mention that currently there is no plans to create specific coalitions AFAIK. -
Once you have decided on details and such, I'd very much much like to see In-Character invitation to it. Is it "Are you feeling lonely? Tired of bashing Hellions on your own? NO MORE! Come to Place X and find your own adventuring buddy, side-kick, or mentor! United we stand stronger!" Or more like "In dire need of heroes on these specific missions, volunteers meet up at Place X."
I would like my characters to have a context on why they are going on specific place to look for teammates (although on most nights 7pm is too early for me). On GG meets, it is "A place where heroes go chill out and chat" that is just spread through word of mouth (that's how I've played it anyhow).
I hope this too takes off

I as well like the beginning of the story more, and I think the transition of quick action at the lake was good, but I know you were anxious to get it done with so maybe that shows in the ending. It's still good I think, mind you.
Good points from Fairy.I don't think it is any way necessary to tell what exactly happened to the gang members. It might be good to expand the kids reaction and thoughts on it, but for a reader it should be pretty clear that some foul play had happened. What? That is a mystery, but it doesn't really add to the story if it was solved.

It looks as though I'm going to be fighting crime in Union now. The down side is that I'll be starting my characters from scratch again;
[/ QUOTE ]
Welcome to Union, I hope you find the kind of RP you are looking for!
If you want to run some missions with the Tempest, don't worry about level. Most of us are very slow and it will not be hard at all to catch up, and even so, we don't mind doing SK / Exempler to get good RP group going together rather than focus on maximum exp (on side note, if you are used to fast exp - we are definetely not the right people :P Missions might go fast, but the yappings before, after and middle slow us down considerably) Right now my Tempest character is 16, the others are between 11 and 25.

Great picture again! I like the mood in that one, what the pose and holding a torch in the rain tells of it.
Pyranha -
Excellent! I think it was worth every bit of time you put into the re-writing. Lazy idyllic summer evening turns into terror, marking the transition between childhood and adulthood (I won't say maturity, since THAT transition is yet to come to Coile :P). Good work!
Pyranha -
Whoa, great work on that one! I like the use of cell-shading (if that's the proper english term for it) and the background is great. Especially cool are the little details, like my favorite, the flames reflected in Iceman.
Unfortunately I don't have deviantart account, but I do hope you win!
Pyranha -
Very nice pictures!
The sketch has a very good blotchy background, giving the picture nice historical atmosphere. I like the calligraphy pen like black and the slightly distorted anatomy. It might work even better if it was even more rougher and distorted, going a bit wild with it. The only real correction I have to suggest is the lines in his hand, they are very straight, even lines when everything is else is rough and curvy, natural looking.
Screenie is cool, I love the background. Suggestion: Make the whites in his suit and hair more "glowy".
Good work! We want more!

Pyranha is teenagerish, definetely not old and experienced. The Coils-family are all teenagers I think. There is lot of them youngsters around

Number Nine could have easily stopped Invisible Sniper from firing and teleported him to the Ziggurat.

I agree with the no-god-moding, and when presenting situation in public place to let others react to things IC.
This particular case, I wasn't there, I don't know what happened. But that above comment caught my eye, isn't that also kind of god-moding, saying your character can easily stop someone and teleport him away (withour knowing his characters strenght)?

Excellent work, what Swissy said.
My favorite is the first one
Pyranha -
Since you have asked for feedback, here goes.
Since it's a background story, not an actual short story, I won't go into that. But when writing stories, take the time to proof-read it thoroughly and use proper grammar. (Sentences start with capital letter and end in comma. Check the spelling of words. For example Word has built-in grammar-check, and it can be very helpful too.) Sometimes typos make it unclear what you are meaning, for example "then what is that on the back of your nee" - I couldn't say if you ment neck, knee, or something else.
The content of the story, well, I'm sorry to say but (just this to go from) it is quite ordinary and has a bit of an god-complex. The son of the devil? That story has been done over and over again, from Omen to Good Omens and everything in between. It can still be interesting and good story, but it requires a new take on the things, heck of a writing talent and imagination.
Personally, it would work for me much better if it was not THE devil, just A devil. Just a normal little demon who has a son in the mortal world for whoknowswhy diabolical reason. The bit where the son and father can only connect when it was dark was nice touch, as was the growing of thorns.
And no matter what kind of background you have, your character can still be interesting and deep personality and much fun to RP with / as. Good luck!

Awww, I only now saw this, would've liked to help (Actually checked out Pocket-D but it was already empty) as muse is one of the great rock bands
Good luck, though.

That's a perfectly good tie. Colorful, but still sombre. Men so often wear boring ties.
And, thanks ben for lot of amusement!(My favorite, still, is the mime-question. "You have to pick one!" *snicker* And I think I'll throw your Rowling-argument on some Potter-fans I know. Hah.

Thanks a lot for the replies, the illustration was very helpful Swissy.
The shading of hair is quite easy, just white with lower opacity multiple times. Strange perspective, I'm not totally sure what you mean, but might be result of flip and slight scaling of the scanned picture.
It is probably first time I've drawn person from that angle, that's kind of my new practice area, new poses, action shota and hands. (from this picture, hands are cleverly missing.)
PS. Do you guys use wacom?
