I have found that 9 - 10 pm eastern is a good time to start most events. It's early enough on the east coast so that folks are still awake and late enough on the west coast to allow people to get home from work.

If it's on Saturday, that time also allows most Oceanics to make it too.
  2. I usually like to bring my sonic/rad corrupter, Atomic Flea.

Rads can bring a lot to the table:
    - Accelerated Metabolism during the buff phase gives everyone extra speed, damage, recharge, endurance, and resistance to end drain.
    - Radiation Infection and Enervating Field toggles are auto hit and help the yellows come down quicker and helps the brutes' survivability.
    - Mutation to help get folks back on their feet.
    - Radiant aura is not the best of heals, but it can help folks survive loose aggro now and then or bring folks that pop an awaken back to the fight.
    - all the sonic attacks just add more damage and the -resistance so that everyone does more damage.

It's not essential to have rads at Hammy raids (like the old hero raids). But they certainly can help.

But if you are short kins or brutes, I can switch to one of those instead.

    Sounds great!

    My observations:
    • One night events are infinitely better than tournaments that go on for several days. Matches are hard to schedule and people lose interest over time.
    • The more requirements you put on team makeup, the harder it is to field a team. Pentads are great fun but its harder to get one of each than 5 of anything.
    • Along the same lines, the smaller the team size, the easier it is to field a team

    Any QA Left?

Yes, they do. I have a friend that works there. He works hard and long hours. I assume others in his unit do as well. But they are only human and are limited by time and resources.
  5. I also understand that these things cannot be done simultaneously. But while the "anticipated" downtime is 2 hours for whatever they do, they frequently finish it much faster. If they could fit them both in a two hour timeframe, they should do it.

And personally, I would prefer a one-time four hour downtime.

I get to play for a few minutes to an hour before work during scheduled maintenance. Once it goes down and I leave for work, it makes no difference to me if it's down for 8 minutes or 8 hours. But not everyone feels that way, I'm sure.

I agree. I understand the need for maintenance and the need for updates. But shouldn't we do those two together whenever possible?

Couldn't we have done maintenance yesterday or the update today?

Teams may agree on the map of their choosing. If both parties can not agree on what map is to be used, then the map will be randomly selected by the arena system. No map resets will be permitted, except for cage matches. If both parties agree to reset on the cage it will be permitted.
I thought that all the matches were in the graveyard?
  9. I think that several of my heroes will walk over the line to the Rogue Isles just to see what it's like. Get some different badges, try my hand at the RSF, stuff like that.

They may not stay there, but I do think we will see a jump in "hero tourism."
  10. Honestly, I'd much rather be able to trade between factions than have a merged market.
  11. While I agree that much of the old hero content sends you on needless jaunts over great distances, we have been given ways to get around that.

My usual leveling path involves sweeping or sewers for the first few levels, King's Row scanner missions to 10 for the temp travel powers, then Hollows, Faultline, Striga, and Croatoa, with the occasional scanner mission, Architect arc, Task Force, powerlevel, or teaming at another level to get past dry spots.

Once you get into the 30s there are plenty of interesting things to do.

If there were no alternative to those dreadful run-around missions that Sam is talking about, I would agree that something has to be done right away. But since we do have alternatives, I would rather have brand new content and simply keep this on the back burner of quality-of-life-things-that-should-be-changed-at-some-point-when-there-is-time.

It might even be a good idea to introduce those changes gradually. Sometimes things don't get done because the project seems too large. Which, if you define the task as updating all pre-issue 5 content, can seem pretty daunting.

But if you let some developer play with one or two contacts per issue and scatter those contacts into different level ranges we would soon have an alternative leveling plan free from the annoying long distance travel.

I recently had to replace my 8800 as well. I ran over to Best Buy and took the last 9800 GTX they had and added another 2 gigs of RAM while I had the box open.

Things run very smooth, even with two accounts running on high settings, except for last night's ship raid. Lots of lag last night.
  16. I don't think of myself as a min/maxer, though others might. I think of myself as a "just-enougher." I need to have just enough to run with the big dogs and compete, hold my own, or at least not slow them down.

While I do like having nice sets and some of the "premier" unique IOs, not all my characters have them. Hell, I have a couple of level 50s that still have mainly SOs in them. And you can see from my list that many of my characters are not FOTMs. I love my grav/FF, lots of fun and unique tactics but damn he was slow to level.
  17. Sad news, indeed. I had a pitbull that died of cancer. Actually it was my brother's dog. My brother was also sick and the dog used to watch over him. He held on till a few days after my brother passed.

I don't know if he lost the will to live or if he willed himself to live until my brother moved on.

I hope you and your friends on the force get to enjoy Axel's company as long as possible and that Axel doesn't suffer.
  18. I have a couple of baby vills on my second account. Hit me up tonight if you see me on and I'll check where they stand on mayhems.
  19. Does that make them Fak Warrirs?
  20. Sam, I sympathasize with your complaints against Carnie bosses, especially solo. But forgive me for saying that I think you are too tied to what used to be tenacious.

The game does give you options. You can turn off bosses, you can set them for -1, you can find a teammate, you can make your own teammate (shivan, HVAS, other temp summons), you can bring more inspirations, you can give yourself base buffs.

Those are all options available to you and that's not an exhaustive list. I have always found you to be a rational person on these forums so could you rationally explain why the game should be changed when you have so many options to solve the Carnie boss problem?
  21. I'll be at a wedding tonight. You boys and girls be good to each other and kill each other nicely!

This will not affect players located in North America, and will have a greater impact on Oceanic and European players.
I'm confused by this statement. Does this mean that the North American servers will still have 2 maintanence sessions per week while EU servers only have one?

Or did you mean to state that North American players are less likely to be effected due to the time of the scheduled maintanence?

If the former, I wish that NA server had the same 1/week maintanence that the EU servers get.

If the latter, I know that I, and many other Americans, are still effected by maintanence at 7:00 a.m. eastern. I liked to get on for a few minutes to an hour before the start of my workday to get a mission in, check markets, etc.

I think that the reason that folks are complaining about the maintanence is not only due to the recent frequency of required downtime, but has more to do with the timing of the maintanence, which was a change from the historic time of 9:00 a.m. eastern.

Either way, thanks for listening and being open to change and I hope you keep your hair.

    Efficiency Tips?

    Quote:
By the by as you amass cash, while pursuing more cash, try some wacky stuff like making a character that has all pool powers, then try to max set bonuses for each power. Build an uber character that uses all the worst selling sets to maximum effect (kind of like a Magic weenie deck).
Sidebar: Hey Squez, whatever happened to the character you made specifically to fill with procs?

    Reactivation

I remember you Gunntharr. Rock on, brother! \m/

And you are welcome to park in my SG if you like. Not many people in it anymore, but a few old names with lots of alts and some people that log in every couple of years.
