They could have stolen or backward engineered the tech from primal Earth. The Praetorians have been here. Anti-Matter also seems to have improved it. He always teleports out just BEFORE he gets knocked out.
  2. I figured that starting with 0 defense, I was better off going for recharge to get healing flames up often. As I was leveling up, I found it a bit end intensive so I added some easy endurance ones.

I'm also using a lot of IOs I already had in storage. I had a good number of crushings. But if people with a lot of fire experience say I should go another way, I'm willing to listen and experiment. But I'm not willing to make a multi-billion dollar build with lots of purples and PvPIOs. Frankly, if it can't be good enough with "normal" sets, I figure that money would be better spent on another character to make a great one into a godly one.

I want a tank that can handle a spawn for 8 and AVs for a team. And you can't always assume that a team of 8 will have buffs, sad as that is. I have seen a lot of melee, blasters, and EATs lately and very few corrupters, controllers, and defenders. And the controllers are very often fire/kins who don't have increase density.

I figure if I can handle big teams like that, I should also do OK as a solo farmer.
  3. I've been leveling a fire/stone tank since I had never played either set. It was ok in the lower levels, if a bit end heavy. It seemed a bit squishy in the 20s until I got tough.

But it has just never felt very tankish. It feels like a weak scrapper. This is my build, although I don't have all of the IOs listed it's close enough and it's my anticipated plan.

I usually run in (while hitting Build up and Firey Embrace) and then burn and fault, then single target attacks till burn and fault are back up. Heal and consume as necessary. Taunt those at range.

Any suggestions on build or tactics?

  4. Scroll your camera all the way back and slightly up. You need to have eyes in the back of your head and see as much ground as possible.

You need some sort of +perception. Certain powersets have that built in to them (focused senses, danger sense, targeting drone, etc) but otherwise you need a rectified reticle IO, or a pool/epic/patron power (tactics, focused accuracy), or a teammate to buff you (clear mind, O2 boost), or the base empowerment buff.

Conversely, you will want to have some stealth on you again from your own powers, a pool power, IO, teammate buff, or base empowerment buff.

Since I13, knockback has become a very effective tactic. If you have a KB power, consider enhancing it. You will also want to have significant kb protection. For casual play melee characters other than fire and dark probably have enough. For competitive play you'll want 41 points of KB protection. That's a LOT of karmas, steadfasts, and zephyrs.
  5. Very Impressive.

I wish I had someone to buy these for. Anyone else find fantastic products?

  8. I. I often dream of things unbidden, secrets reveal'd and secrets hidden, Future, past, or not to be, I cannot say with certainty, But in case I won't return, these visions from my letter learn, And so before Omega leaves... I here entrust you with these dreams.

II. The glor'ous monarch will defend, his homeland to the bitter end, An army built to soothe all doubts, but ripples show in upstart bouts, Make you choice: red blue or gray, choose who to spurn and who obey, You'd like to think there's no price dear, but the real world is not so clear.
The glor'ous monarch is probably Tyrant and an allusion to the coming Going Rogue where you can pick red (villain) blue (hero) or gray (Praetorian)

III. I saw a mirror torn apart, thousand-spiraling work of art, Behind a veil was once a fool, now its creation is its tool, Suffered from a mighty fall, seeks again to consume all, To face it our heroes prep, to win just watch that first step.
    Rularu and the Shadow Shard?

IV. A peaceful race comes from afar, a living message in a jar, Find they cannot grow any more, into new flesh they are reborn, Silence breaks by the gods thunder, coexistence cast asunder, Now just one culture slow to change, not evil pure but surely strange.
    Not sure

    V. Bloated life which has not a peer, gobbles all that mankind holds dear, The hive will grow to rise and fall, all will battle the monster tall, Across the way a mirror flow'r, has no such foes slow its devour, Not placated with scraps to eat, it's rage shall spark leader's retreat.
Clearly talking about Hamidon, but not sure about the mirror flow'r. Is that a reference to the Abyss or to a Praetorian Hammy?

VI. A thousand men with javelin, fight to compound their master's sin, Darkly corrupt by twilight gaze, a secret deal to end our days. Hero, villain, that time forgot, what do they know that we do not? Side-by-side both sides excel, fighting for time-warped parallel.

VII. Time's river's course is left to run, till shattered by the million suns, Eternal gear comes back to warn, all must beware the coming storm, From ice and flame and tests of will, forgotten deeds one can fulfill, Has he made strong by accident, those whose acts will despair prevent?
Ouroborus, pillars of ice and flame, and Nemesis ad "the Eternal gear"

VIII. No purse to snatch or kid to nab, is fashioned by a novel lab, But legends writ and lore create, as cohorts play and strangers rate, Easy to praise; the virtues plain, of fighting just to entertain, Endless time spent in sirens dens, yet who will save real citizens?
    The Mission Architect

IX. The iron turns into crystal, their doomsday shall be missed til, When a pair of fives arrives, power flows and power drives, The spinning rod lives again, then destroyed in evil's den, Mere prelude to what bright hell, comes from drinking of the well.
    No idea

    X. Man kills brother; sets into motion, a hundred lifetimes of commotion, Meticulous manipulation, attempts to take this very nation, Within mirrors glow he finds a pawn, his trick forces them to take us on, We shall fall for his games no longer, that which challenges makes us stronger.

XI. The web is formed in careful craft, since fatal rescue on a raft, Wraith- beast- hulk- thief- prepare for war, the mastermind will hide no more, Let loose the tide of villain mix, heroes will gain their own new tricks, And in the end; a world fini, unless the one stops destiny.
XII. Create new thing which heals or harms, accelerate the race of arms, A million more to buy and trade, the inventors must all be paid, A flood of brains rain in the town, but evil lurks to bring all down, The helmed one strikes with draining web, the war comes to a crucial head.
Recluse and his Lieutenants in the Statesman Task Force

XIII. You may have seen all that I say, or await it another day, Of many things I have not dreamt, events the gods have not yet sent, And do forgive this awful curse, the fates decree I write in verse, Wish I were there to interpret, but battle calls and must be met.

Merit prizes are Task Force Merits. Since merits cannot be given or traded, the winner will direct me to spend those merits for them at a Merit Vendor in whatever fashion they want, and the product will be handed over to them immediately. Note that the spending toon _will_ be 50, so there are some limitations to the level of recipe the winner can get from this. Winner Merits can be banked for a period of 1 month before being lost, since I don't want an ongoing tally sheet of who I will owe merits to. Note that I am not available 24 hours a day, although I will try to accommodate your schedule in order to spend the merits in the shortest time frame possible.

Ask folks to post it in their MOTDs. I saw it was already on either JU or JFA2010 (or maybe both) but there are lots of other channels and SG MOTDs that could advertise it as well.
  13. I saw Random Homeless Man's global up this week. Though I'm not sure if that was really him or some pretender.

  15. I'm glad you found a setting that works for you. I knew that you would, if you experimented a bit.
  16. Also, consider buying the ninja pack. Ninja run+lightning reflexes+sprint+swift is a damn fine travel power. And it works nicely with a dual blade stalker concept.
  17. I wish there was a way to turn off XP AND bank it. So that you wouldn't hear a ding at all until you turned XP back on.

And then . . . DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! . . . on and on for as many levels as you earned while you had it off and a long list of inspirations appear, blocking out your screen.

I understand not everyone needs or cares about merits, so maybe they're just not an important consideration for you. I wanted to point it out, just in case.
That may be true for some expert STF'ers, but on average, I would guess that most people do both STF and a Hammy raid right around an hour.

And I still say that a Hamidon Raid is probably the best wealth creator in the aggregate. Fifty players and an average 5 million influence per player is 250 million. And that's being conservative. Some of the HOs go for much more than 5 million. And if everyone took merits and tried their luck at a roll, that's 100 chances. I guarantee their will be several LOTG, Numinas, Miracles, etc. in 100 rolls.

Of course, you, individually, might not be the person with the lucky roll and would probably be better off solo farming.
  19. The original Hammy raid went like this:

My Hammy has three phases: first M-I-T-O-S.
My Hammy has a second phase it's H-O-L-D, hold.
But don't attack him first, they say. For if you do, then Hammy maaaaaay . . .
Fill the Hive with mitos, yay! And all the heroes D.O.A.

    Now it's more like this:

You taunt the yellows out, you scrap the yellows down,
You hold then greens ones close, then you shoot the blues around.
You do the Hammy-Lammy then you run your arses out.
    That's what it's all about!

    See? Easy.
  20. How does this look? He's a plucky little guy! If you do story arcs or AE you should be able to get the merits or tickets to actually get some of those level 10 "premium" IOs. And with swift, hurdle, sprint, ninja run, and AM (and a little stealth), you should have decent traveling.

  21. Easy enough to test.

    1. Take Rad to RV.
    2. Open Power attributes UI ("real numbers")
    3. Activate hasten - check number
    4. Activate AM - check number
    5. Let both recharge
    6. Find a target
    7. Repeat step 3
    8. Hit target - note recharge time
    9. Repeat step 4
    10. Hit target - note recharge time

You can then do the math and calculate if the real numbers is actually giving you an accurate recharge number as well as get the "feel" of recharge with hasten alone and hasten + AM.
  22. I'd go corrupter as well. You could go with 2 blasts and 2 support or 1 blast and 3 support.

With those limitations, I would go /rad as the secondary. A group heal, auto hit group debuff of defense and tohit, and a group boost to speed, recharge, endurance, damage, and resistance to mez.

With only the first blast or second blast as your choice, it doesn't matter too much what you pick. My favorites would be fire for damage, sonic for -res, dark for -tohit, or ice for slow.

You only get 4 slots to use. I would add one to blast and slot 2 accs, one to RI and slot 2 end, and 2 for AM all 3 recharge.

I do think that level 10 is much more realistic and a better bargain all around. 3 more powers, four more slots, and the ability to frankenslot cheap level 10 stuff will make it much more enjoyable, I think. And it also opens up a lot more AT and build possibilities.
