    Name Generator

Well, if you are going for a COH tribute to Green Lantern, I would probably go with a different color altogether to avoid getting generic-ed.

Here's a wiki page on Shades of Green. You might also consider other language words for Green, like Verde in Spanish, which is the base for Verdant.

Verdant is a pretty cool name by itself but you can add something before or after -- Captain Verdant, Verdant Man, Verdant Defender, etc

Why can't you play? Is it a time thing or a campus blockade of MMOs on their bandwith?

    Whatever you want.

  4. What's the definition of min/max anyway? Are we all talking about the same thing?

    Here's what urban dictionary says:

    Quote:
    min/max (verb)

Usually used in the context of roleplaying games, to min/max refers to the act of designing a character in such a way that one minimizes its weaknesses and maximizes its strengths.
Now that I know more about how the game works, I'm going to min/max my next character so that it's more effective.
Does it have to be to an absolute mathematical minimum and maximum? And how does one determine that as there is usually some sacrifice in some stat to increase another?
  5. This is Santorican's thread about his DM/Shield. It's for a scrapper, but close enough to get ideas.
  6. I think the titles are given out one by one by an NCSoft employee. I don't think it's a script, but I could be wrong. I vaguely recall one of the community team, maybe Ex Libris, saying something to that effect many months ago.
  7. A little more info on -KB IOs:

    You can use
    Steadfast in powers that take resistance enhancements;
Karma in powers that take defense enhancements; and
Blessing of the Zephyr in powers that take travel and universal travel enhancements.

Karmas and Steadfasts can be gotten for about 10 million off the market or by rolling level 10-15 bronze rolls with tickets from AE. Since the bronze rolls at that level are only worth 60 tickets, you can usually get one after running a couple of AE missions if you just keep rolling.

The Zephyr piece is a gold roll with tickets or merits or 240 merits to buy outright and can go for 100 million or more on the market since it is rarer.

    Hi, Cherno-Belly!
  10. Happy Unbirthday, Choake!

Also, I found this picture of some of the guys taking about Philly:

  13. Wendy, please, less words. I agree with many of your points but my eyes are bleeding.
  14. I would rather have the ability to respec one power or one slot (like you can in Mids).

I rarely use respecs unless I make a major mistake or the devs severely nerf a power. But if they let me just switch the few things I wanted and not have to redo the whole thing from level one then I would respec more often.

My best advice is to break out Mid's Hero Designer (download it if you haven't already), design something you think looks good to you, and then post the build in a new thread to let people pick it apart and tweak it.

Some people might be rude about it, but most folks give pretty good advice if you show them a starting build.

Forgot about those, but those don't bother me as much as Travel Suppression, Diminishing Returns, Heal Decay, and PvP armor.

I could probably live with those as well if the numbers were a lot lower than they are. I think it would be alright if one thermal shield (or whatever) gave full effect, but the second one gave a fraction of the protection the first one gave, and the third one gives the few percentages it gives now in zones.

But that's just me. I know a bunch of you wouldn't agree.
  17. Agreed with most of the comments above. I appreciate the effort the community relations have been putting forward lately: Becoming Rikti, new forum games (create the caption and find this location); running the new guest author arcs with us common folk; and now Carnie Raves.

But the lag was old school Hamidon bad. Not sure what could be done about that other than the suggestion to spread it out more.

They did something similar to this a few months ago where Niviene was spawning all kinds of different bosses and GMs in different zones. There were lots of players but a lot less lag. Then again, there were also a lot less NPCs as well.

EDIT: I can't honestly see them doing anything major with pvp, when there has been an utter lack of actual dev story content for AGES (sooo, how is that Coming Storm coming along? ). If they focused on anything major for pvp, the majority of the player base would riot.
Ummm . . . base raiding IS PvP.

I also predict that we will get the option to remove PvP shields as an option for arena. Once that is done, anyone who wants to can choose to have I12 style battles in the arena. I could live with that.

    Fire Kins

To add a little bit to what has already been said: The secondary effect of all Fire attacks is more damage. Kinetics has a lot of tools in its bag of tricks that effects the caster as well as the team as opposed to say, empathy with 2 single target buffs and 2 single target heals.

Kinetics lets a player have extreme recharge through siphon speed, which in turn lets that player have unlimited endurance with transference and a huge heal with transfusion. That alone gives them great survivability.

Then add in an AOE stun in flashfire - if you open with that you should limit or eliminate return fire. Follow with fire cages, an AoE immobilize that keeps them in place. Then run in with hotfeet and imps active -- 2 passive damage powers. Then you hit fulcrum shift to cap your damage as well as the imps. Then double that as controllers get special containment damage for anything that is mezzed, and that ignores the damage cap.

None of the Fire control attacks are particularly damaging, but the combination of all those dots at the damage cap with containment add up quickly to allow you to mow through ungodly numbers of minions. But watch out for bosses and anything that tosses out mezzes of their own.

That's why farmer fire/kins stick to non-mezzers to farm. They either cap their smash/lethal defense with IOs and rock armor and go after things like Battle Maiden's minions, or get fire armor and farm behemouths. Some go for the mezz protection in indomitable will, but those are usually more team friendly builds.

When I team with my fire/kin I concentrate more on my kinetics than the fire -- making sure everyone is speed boosted and has increased density, look for big herds to fulcrum shift, and click transfusion and transference to keep my teams health and endurance capped while sapping the AV, or whatever. If all that is taken care of, then I'll throw some fire around.

It depends. Sometimes I get a drop in the teens or 20s that works great at the time but isn't really from a great set -- pounding slugfest, for example -- I would let that ride until I found something better or until I got to a higher level and was working to complete sets. At that point I would just put a Mako or Crushing Impact or whatever right over it.

If it was already a low level Mako and I was going for that set, I would probably keep it at the low level, especially if I was at or close to ED caps or if the difference was marginal, and it usually is.

The only things I have respecced out so far have been HOs, but I expect if I ever did a major revision of a character I would save as much of the good stuff as I could and prioritize on value and rareness. Meaning that the rarer and more valuable a particular item is, the more likely I would be to keep it.

I have a sinking suspicion that many others do exactly as i do.
  21. I know the original question asked for secondaries, but you've already gotten some great advice on those and have started your archery/mm -- a fine choice.

But I wanted to give a shout out to sonic as a safe primary. It's great solo! You siren's song a group to sleep, shriek one awake but into a stun, then shout him to death . . . repeat.
  22. I know that dev's choice are supposed to give "normal rewards" but I recall a discussion during beta where some thought that purples had not been added to the normal rewards available in AE, even when running a Dev's Choice.

I have never received a purple in AE, nor have I ever heard of anyone getting one. Not to say that means it's impossible, but has ANYONE gotten a purple in AE?

    Hami Raid

    Sure I'll help.

I'll get some nukes and EoEs. At this point, I only have 3 50 villains on Freedom. I think probably the pain corrupter will be most helpful to spam painbringer (regen and recovery) and powerboosted heals.

And yes, I understand that redside is always harder and that it takes a while to get a stable crew with enough knowledge to successfully take the blob down easily. I guess I was just pointing out that all that stuff and prep isn't always needed but it sure is nice to have.
  24. I disagree. I have a suspicion that we will see the return of base raids with either GR or the issue following with a new reward - SG merits (or something similar). This was the vision that Castle spoke about during the beginning of I13. Developer time seems to run much slower than player time. Things that they discuss as being worked on frequently takes six months to a year to make it into the game.

And as to the SG merits: Next time you are in the game, open your SG settings for permissions and look towards the bottom of the list. There is a permission setting for who can spend SG merits.
