    OOoooh! I like that.
  13. That's why the all pool guaranteed recipe drop is appealing: There are so many junky recipes that the odds of getting a good one are against you. But the more GMs you kill, the better your odds of getting something really good.

It's a strong incentive without being overpowered or farmable.
  14. I think a lot of the giant monsters suffer not just from low rewards but from a "been there, done that" mentality. It's very cool and a lot of fun the first time you do it, but by the third or forth time it's lost it's luster.

Lusca in particular has extremely low rewards for the amount of time it takes to defeat all the tentacles and the head. I would award at least 1 merit per part.

Another reward that would spur interest in giant monsters would be to have a guaranteed set recipe drop for your level from all pools. So you might win the lottery and get a Luck of The Gambler +recharge or you might get a Lethargic Repose. But I think just having the chance at getting a good recipe would encourage participation from players at all levels.
  15. I'm not trying to say that it has to be X AT, only that the team has to split up and accomplish individual goals.

As stated above, I think all sorts of ATs and powersets could accomplish a "keep the citizen alive" goal, or a "overcome overwhelming odds to reach the door" goal.

But if you don't like it, you don't like it.
  16. I know what you mean about the variety of strengths/weaknesses of different builds and different powersets. It's a hard design problem.

But that's why I think some fairly generic objectives should be doable by a wide variety of characters. You can keep a civilian alive by healing, by buffing, by debuffing, by mezzing, by taunting, or by annihilating the critters.

Similarly, the long range targets could be taken out by any character with some range attacks and tohit, even if some might require yellows. So blasters, doms, corrupters, defenders and even some melee characters would be able to do it.

Running the gauntlet of huge spawns to get to and break down a door can by done by anything that is used to mowing down large numbers of critters without dying. I've seen some builds of just about every AT that could do that.

Perhaps the Mission could have eight doors and everyone on the team has to pick a door. Clicking on the door would open up a dialogue box letting you choose one of the three (or more) options.
  17. Yesterday, I started thinking about what would make for difficult TF. How about one that required the team to split up and take a different path (like in the Reichsman TF) and then have different traps sprung or goals to accomplish (like the Hess TF).

After entering a certain map on the TF, you get to a a room that has multiple exits, but those exits have a force field or lasers or whatever that only allows certain ATs to get through while the others cannot go through. It's reminiscent of Arcade and Dr. Doom style traps that try to find the limits of their opponents.

A defender might need to keep a civilian alive, a scrapper might need to take down a steel door before being overwhelmed by large ambushes, a blaster might need to destroy high defense items that are far away through a barred cell door, etc.

Each member would need to finish their gauntlet to reunite and take on the final boss.

    constipation

    Fiber . . .

If I find my slots filling up, I'll go play with another character for a week or so. I have lots of alts and I usually leave them sitting with something to buy or sell for weeks or months at a time. So I periodically go through my stable and collect, craft, and relist. When I do that, I frequently get a tell to join a team or an urge to play that character again.

Next thing you know, a week or two has gone by and I go back to the character with full slots and find that at least some of the stuff has moved. I then take a look at what's left and decide what to do based on volume of sales and prices. Did several get sold while mine sat there? Then I'm priced too high. Has the supply remained steady or grown and not a single one has sold since I listed? Chances are no one wants that item. Time to either store it or chuck it.

ProTip: Whenever you decide that you need a respec, collect 10 pieces of "trash" set IOs from your base to at least get some of your investment back.
  19. I'm looking forward to reading your diary with pictures once again.

  21. Please don't do that. You are gonna get the whole thread locked and burned. I suggest you edit your comments.
  22. What I took away from it is that each AT has its own unique epic pools stalkers and brutes don't get scrapper epic pools, they get stalker and brute epic pools.
