  1. I wish I could go, but I can't.

So safe travels and happy times to all those that can and do.

One day, I hope the team makes it to Florida so that I could attend.

    Sounds like a Nemesis plot.

Burn has been extremely effective on maps where the enemies were already very tightly packed or the enemies ambushed me and become very closely packed on their own.

I would be greatly interested in someone demonstrating to me what, if anything, I am doing wrong on standard style maps like Liberate. Burn's small area of effect made it difficult for me to use for anything besides finishing off a boss I immobilized. I'd fence, burn, and leave him to his fate. This strategy did not generate much, if any, increased efficiency. If you can generate better #s using your SS/FA and Burn on Liberate than the #s I provided a few posts up and are willing to show me what I'm doing wrong please send me a tell, PM, post here, share a video or somehow enlighten me. I can bribe you if necessary I want to learn.
Smurphy, when your spawns are spread out you need to make them come to you by herding. If you have the fire aura on your brute, just run by a few groups and then break line of sight by going into a container or around a corner. When they all come to you, Firey embrace, immobile, burn, cackle with glee, repeat.

If you don't have the aura you can use taunt or any attack to generate some aggro.
  5. Or you could have one corrupt file, or a conflict, or anyone of a dozen other things.

It's like going to the doctor for a headache, but not wanting to follow his instructions and "say Ahhhhh" and cough when he wants to listen to your lungs. You figure the doctor is an idiot for looking at your throat and listening to your lungs when your symptom is a headache.

He knows that you came in for a headache, but there is a protocol to eliminate possible causes.

Follow the protocol -- submit the requested diagnostics -- and let the doctors do thier job.

  7. I offer Lucas.

I will pay you 1 million Inf AND a level 15 intangibility IO to take him.
  8. That's pretty damn close!

    Well done.
  9. Wow! I had completely forgotten this. Here's the full quote about PvP from Positron's Letter to the Players announcing Issue 13 on November 6, 2008.

    Quote:
    PvP Changes:
We've also overhauled our PvP system in such a way that the changes do not affect PvE. We've ignored PvP as "good enough" for long enough. The previous systems were "ok" and have a very vocal and devoted fan-base, but we plan on incorporating more and more PvP features into City of Heroes and City of Villains. In order for us to do that we really need a solid foundation of the core PvP gameplay. We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
  10. I heard that Grease is the word, its the word that you heard.
  11. Like most things dealing with taste: some people like PvP, some people dislike PvP, a portion of those who dislike PvP might acquire a taste for it if they tried it.

For example, I don't like caviar. I tried it, several times. It's just not for me. I don't care how often or vehemently you tell me that caviar is great and the food of gods and kings. If you offered me $100 to eat some, I would take your money, eat it, and hate every minute of it.
  12. Nothing really matters. Anyone can see.
  13. Why? I thought you were Mr. SO.
  14. I like bacon. Also:

    Let me go!

You can't lump everyone in a community with one big stamp and assume that they are all the same. Yes, the PvP community may have more "in your face" people than other communities, but it also has a lot of intelligent, knowledgeable, and polite members.

    Now, go away.
  17. Open your eyes, look up to the sky and seeeee
  18. While I think people have every right to be upset over the I13 PvP changes, I think you should cut Ghost Falcon some slack on this one. They just announced the return of the COP and didn't want PvPers to think that they were also bringing back base raids.

But hey, if being snarky to the devs who are trying to be upfront with you is your thing, go for it. Look how well that's worked so far.

Hoping to get this rolling shortly after GR hits, since I figure it might bring back some old blood, even if only for a little while, and the merged markets and cross-faction item/inf trading will make it easier for people to build characters regardless of what side they're on.
I think that immediately after GR will be a mistake. People will be off doing new stuff. Rolling new characters, checking out Praetoria, switching sides. running the COP, doing incarnate stuff, etc.

It's been my experience that the best time to do an event is in between issues, not right after a big one. But if you are talking about a month or so after, then that might be good.
  20. Thanks for the info, Ghost Falcon. I appreciate being told, even if I don't like the message.

Personally, my favorite form of PvP was base raiding. Sometimes, I would set up small base raids -- 1 on 1, 2 on 2, whatever -- just for the heck of it. It was fun and different and you never knew what someone else's base would look like. It was also the only way for villains to see hero bases and vice versa.

While it was annoying for someone to create a spawn pit of death, absent that base raids were great.

I noticed that your message said you weren't "actively" working on base raiding and that you bolded the word for emphasis. I will be positive and hope that your emphasis means that you are all real busy at the moment getting GR out the door but have some plans to bring it back in the near future.
  21. Oh! I forgot to add my male fortunata - Fortunate Flea.
  22. I don't know whether we needed another one or not, but I like that Cannuck's style and I agree that the temp powers drop too often, clogging my arteries, and preventing me from getting better drops.

Of course, that may have been their plan all along -- to drown you in Dollar Store gifts so that you might not notice less gifts from Sharper Image.
