    I think Kawkazn is Judadadads.

Not accurate. Autolog is disabled when on a Task Force, Strike Force, or Ouroborus Arc.

It took me a second and then I laughed like a fool. I hope this one wins!

    Justice Archives

While the forums were down today, I found myself looking for stuff to fill the void. I had never noticed it before, but at the very bottom of the forums is a link to archives. I clicked on it out of curiosity.

Here is the Justice archive from an interesting time.

WARNING!!! Reading those old threads may bring back long suppressed feelings!!
  6. I pronounce it Pray-TOR-ian in my head. But it appears I was wrong.

    Dictionary.com says it's pronounced pree-tawr-ee-uhn.

    Link.

Doh! Ms. Mesmer beats me again

If all you do is hit AM, you are definately contributing to the fire/rad onslaught.

    Or accidentally.
  10. Let's have a dev sponsored tournament of Duel Champions. The winner gets prizes and the adoration of millions . . .err thousands . . . umm . . . a couple of fans. The losers would be forcibly removed from the server and sent to one of the European servers.

    That would be awesome.

There you go! Good point. In order for there to be server mergers, it has to make financial sense.

If you (generic you, not Bill Z) don't like playing on a low population server, then move or make new characters on high population characters.

There are plenty of people that like playing on low population servers. And I have to believe that a number of them would leave if their preferred server was merged. So lost subscriptions would be another factor to account for.
  12. I'm not pro or anti server merger. I'm just interested in finding out what factors the devs, in any game, use to decide when to merge servers.

Obviously, I think that one of those factors has to be profitability. If the game as a whole starts losing money all the servers will be shut off. But I think that there may be a point where perhaps they have to replace their oldest equipment and decide:

"You know, if we just merge three of the smaller shards into one server (or set of servers actually), we won't have to spend the money to buy new ones and we can coast for a little while longer; making money by cutting expenses."

As a player, I don't want to see that. But I can understand it from a business perspective.
  13. I googled Starter Kitty and found this:

I agree that you should be able to make good income with a starter kitty.

    Farming Brute

I'm guessing that it's fire aura, but it looks more like quills because of the color.
  15. I appreciate the numbers, Neuronia and Brillig. But those are figures for the total game.

I'm wondering when the population of a single server gets so low that it is no longer worth the cost it takes to maintain it. When you get to that point, I assume you then consider a server merger.

Maybe they don't consider it at a server level at all. Maybe they just look at the profitability of the game as a whole.

I agree with this. I don't know why you should diminish the reward for someone doing solo what should only be possible with a group. If you can do it, more power to you!
  17. <QR>

I only read the first few posts in this very long thread, so pardon me if this has already been asked and answered, but what population per server is the minimum sustainable amount?

In other words, how many people does it take to pay to play on a server to make it at least break even with the costs to maintain that server?

With so many players having so many alternates on different servers, this may be a hard number to quantify. But I assume that somewhere in corporate headquarters there is a guy or gal whose job it is to figure out these break-even points and suggest to management that it may be time to consolidate.

So does anyone with experience in the online gaming industry have any idea?

    How's this?

  20. Loophole. He hired a lawyer.
  21. I think we should do like the federal government. Declare victory and withdraw.
  22. I wonder how much hidden people add to the perception that server populations are down. I used to periodically search for all players on Justice just to get a head count. I haven't done that in so long I forgot what the average was. But I did note that there were less and less players. Part of the seperation began after CoV came out and we were divided by faction.

But if a third of a server's population is hidden, there may be a lot more people around than we think there are.
  23. Level 33 IOs let you have full bonuses down to Citadel's TF. So it's only Positron, Synapse, and Sister that miss out on the set bonuses.

You also get full use of bonuses in Siren's Call, subject to diminishing returns. Although I don't think that is much of a concern these days. There are never more than a handfull of people in Siren's, even on Freedom during prime time.
