There is a cycle to their posting. When things are very quiet on their end it's usually because they are about to publish a new issue or major new tech either on live or test.
Once they publish (or a few days before), there is a lot of chatter back and forth talking about the new stuff, explaining things, and even goofing off in off-topic threads. Then it tapers off indicating it's time for them to grind those hours away making new stuff again.
We are currently in the tapering phase as I19 winds its way to test.
I have also been noticing an increase in information being released at conventions or to trade magazines first. I was initially irked that they would chose those venues (where I am not) versus this one (where I and their other paying customers are). But this community is so awesome and on top of things that the forum has links to the articles, twitter feeds, and youtube links seconds after the words leave their mouth.
I have only made brief visits to other game forums, but from everything I have seen and heard, this is probably the best forum around for both community and interaction with the game-makers. -
I have been having this problem intermittently over the last few weeks. I spent 5 years logged into the forum without needing to log back in except when they moved the boards or I clicked the wrong button.
Now I get booted out periodically when trying to navigate between pages. Interestingly, I always get to the forums in a logged in state for my very first entry to the forum everyday. After that it may work . . . or it may not. It does seem to happen more often if I leave the boards open but inactive for an hour or so.
It happens both on Chrome and IE8. -
To a certain extent, I understand what you are saying. If you ask "how can I lose weight?" and people respond "just run marathons" that may be a solution to losing weight but one that is impractical and unlikely to happen.
But people have also offered the advice to eat less and exercise more in a variety of simple ways and you have responded the same way to all of them. Just about every suggestion to eat less or exercise more has been dismissed as impossible or impractical.
Ultimately you will have to find what works for you . . . or not. You can change or continue living the way you are. It's all up to you.
I hope you find what you are looking for. -
Soo . . . in summary:
OP has a concern.
Certain group of players think he's stupid and whiny for having that concern.
Another group doesn't share that concern but have another concern.
A third group thinks that the first group were terribly rude.
*Math*
Repeat.
That about sums it up. -
I think each of our lead community people has had a unique style and preferences. Some people will like some approaches better than others.
I find Ocho to be a very straight shooter with a good sense of humor, but he is very careful with his words -- he never overstates and always tows the company line. I have no problem with that. In fact, I prefer that to Black Pebble's market-speak. Avatea is a sweetheart that has the unenviable job of having to translate all official notifications into multiple languages and be the main European and Oceanic contact.
David/Noble Savage has a very easy going style and he has been very prolific lately. I'd rather have the discussions straight with the devs than filtered through the community rep, whoever that may be.
I do miss BaBs posts. He has certainly cut down on his postings. He is very funny and unfiltered but too many people don't get his humor or just want to play word games.
Castle is a quick wit and a deep thinker that is into all sorts of nerd culture -- games, sci-fi authors, movies, you-name-it. But he also has a temper that I think he strains to control at times when certain posters get unnecessarily rude.
But all in all, I don't find that we are getting less communication overall. Perhaps less from OCR than in the past but that doesn't bother me so long as there is an active, ongoing dialogue between the players and its creators. -
Lots of decent choices, some better than others depending on what you are starting with.

And that's just the power pools. There are lots of "skippable" powers in primaries and secondaries that you can now pick up and use on a lark or that once in a blue moon ocassion -- something like repel for example. And then there are all the choices in epics and patron pools, but most of those probably need more than one slot. Then again, you could get a patron pet and sick a recharge in it.
And if you can find one or two slots elsewhere, it opens up all kinds of possibilities with sets to provide HP, Regen, defense, damage, etc. -
Quote:Any attempt to exit the zone turns you into a rikti monkey for five minutes or as long as you are out of an allowed zone.Okay, while we're dreaming:
Create PvP-Only Character Option:
You may create a character that only has access to PvP zones, Pocket D, and Bases. Characters of this type start out at level 50, have all accolades, and have access to all enhancements, free of charge (since PvP characters have inf/prestige earning, email, and trading disabled). The character creation screen would resemble Mids, and PvP characters have unlimited respecs, which use the same Mids-type character creation interface. PvP characters cannot use zone entrances or use teleporters, so they must access zones by using a special power that summons a portal that lists all PvP zones, Pocket D, and their SG/VG base as the only destinations.
When the code for this pack goes live, PvP and PvP zone-related badges are removed from the game forever.
*Banks $10.00 to buy it when it comes out* -
My guess is no, but I really don't know.
Anyone know for sure? -

While having a team at the softcap is pretty damn excellent for just about anything, rularu mobs are one of the few things that can cut through that fairly easily. But it certainly helps and it never hurts to be at the soft cap. Given the choice between 3 widows and 3 dark miasma, I would chose dark for this.
Edited to add: I almost forgot that howling twilight is not only the worlds best rez, but it does a whopping -500 regen. Three darks, well slotted, could completly shut down that AV's crazy regen. -
Yeah, clockwork are extra sensitive to KB effects and the knockDOWN becomes knockBACK.
-
I think it depends on what you are playing. I generally prefer tactics on controllers and assault on blasters and scrappers. I wouldn't bother with either on a SS tank or brute.
But if I dip into the pool, I usually pick up both. -
Dan,
I am usually available at the times you mentioned and am willing to offer my SG as a home base. I'll need a few people to join to lead the teams.
My SG consists of me, Lucas, Alchemist, Diamond Dragoon, our alts, and 100 people that don't play anymore. So I'll need plenty of volunteers.
I don't like to dictate what powers to bring, but we will need some aggro control, some DPS, and some buff/debuff on each team. It would be absolutely awesome to have 3 dark defenders or converted corrupters as they provide a lot of protection against psi and can debuff those insanely accurate eyeballs to a reasonable amount. But really, we can find a place and a purpose for anything.
In terms of temp powers, they are certainly nice to have. In order of importance I would say the Vanguard Heavy (HVAs), Bio Nuke, Chem Nuke, Psi bomb, Envenomed dagger, and Shivans -- in that order.
There are only two parts to this trial: 1) coordination on the pylons, and 2) overcoming the regen and HP of the AV between rularu spawns.
The first one comes down to everyone listening and paying attention and having balanced teams. It can be incredibly easy or frustratingly difficult if you lack either balance or coordination.
The second part is a little trickier. While there are lots of ways to overcome regen and even more ways to add DPS, the teams that fail do so because they let the rularu spawns ambush them and overtake them. Again, the team needs to be coordinated and quick on their feet to switch targets from the AV to the spawns.
Good tanks and controllers will lock them down, good buffers will keep everyone in tip-top shape, and good players will prioritize and demolish their targets.
Luckily, I find that Justice has a lot of smart, attentive players. If we have enough interest, I may run them on a regular basis to help everyone have the experience and get the badge. After rikti raids might be a good time to have folks with merits to spend. -
My suggestion is simple: Eat 2 apples a day. Buy a big bag of apples. If you can't get them near you, have them delivered.
I think that should be simple enough to do, assuming you like apples. By doing that, you should break your habit of eating once a day, get your body out of starvation mode, and give you some good nutrients and fiber so that you won't be as hungry when you go for the big meal and hopefully it less.
As for exercise, look into getting something like this:
It's just a set of pedels that you can place anywhere and grind. Even when you are grinding on COH! They can be bought fairly cheap (under $30) and since it is yours, you could cut the straps and rig it with some rope or other material to fit your feet.
I know we have had arguments and I have poked fun at you, but I do respect what you are trying to do here. You can be stubborn and argumentative. Use those skills against yourself. Argue WHY you should diet and excercise instead of why not. I know you can argue both sides of any debate. You can do it if you set your mind to. -
I thought about getting power sink and had it in an early build as I was leveling it. But I found that as soon as I had SOs I didn't need power sink to sap. Although it would make it faster in the early levels.
I might pick it up as one of my free fitness picks! -
Quote:Yeah, I'll need to download Leandro's fix to Mids and take another look at it.Certainly the fact that Hurdle/Health/Stamina will all be inherent next issue is worth mentioning.
Honestly, I'd probably keep the slots as they are and have to find three powers worth taking and one slotting.
Hmm . . . I'd definately pick up grant invisibility. It's a spot for another LotG and I can stealth my pets and teammates. Power Sink, Voltaic Sentinel, and Super Jump are all in the running too. Or maybe dip into medicine for stimulant and aid self. Or I could go with leadership to give my pets and I some more defense and/or accuracy and/or damage. Wow. These are gonna be harder choices than I thought! -
Quote:I probably did. I stuck the Zephyr -KB in there for the extra defense as much as the knocback protection. The Karmas are there because I like sticking one in CJ early as I have them stored in my base and I hate being tossed around and I don't have many LotGs just lying around.IMO, it seems like you went a little overkill on the KB protection IOs. Domination gives you mag 4 protection already. I would say you should be fine with having just one more slotted (which would give 8ish protection) to handle nearly anything in PvE, but I know there are reasons to get over 10. I'd definitely drop at least one of them, and maybe slot another LotG.
Also, I'd try to find some slots for Charged Brawl. It's one of the set's best attacks, and since you have Havoc Punch both would give you a great 1-2 melee punch. I'd drop some of the KB protection, and evaluate how much you need some of your other powers 6-slotted. If you don't want to lose the 6-slot bonuses I'd move the slots from Charged Bolts to Brawl and put a Crushing Impact there to get back most of the recharge. But yes, If I get another LoTG it would be worth it to switch.
Thanks! -
Question:
What's with the HO is combat jumping? Wouldn't you be better off with another Kismet or LoTG or even moving the slot to deflection for a res/end steadfast? -
So, what options are there for these new power picks?
Well, it opens up another power pool so your options are:

Unfortunately, such is the way of the Internet. The COH forums are among the most tame, even when you are getting lambasted. So you have that going for you at least.
-
Well, -2000 should put him at 0% regen. He states that it was "well over" -2000, but I don't know by how much.
It may also be that the CoP AV has more regen than any previously encountered AV. It certainly seems like he does since I have never seen anything else regen as quickly, but I have no hard data to back me up. But if he did have more regen, say 3000%, than you would need -3000% to get him to 0%
It is not necessary to get him (or any other) AV to 0 in order to kill him, although it makes it significantly easier. You just have to out DPS his regen, taking into account his little bubble vacation time.
In my experience, it's not just that the AV has incredible regen and an insurmountable force field, it's that those rularu mobs keeping coming and they hit hard and slice through most defense and resitance because of the insane accuracy of the eyeballs and the psy damage of the wisps.
I have seen teams make slow progress in denting the health bar, but then they have a few key team members die and it ends up in a total, or almost total team wipe.
A few Dark defenders or corrupters can make a huge difference in this trial. The extreme tohit debuff, exceptional psi resistance in shadowfall, and the awesome team rez are certainly very welcome additions against rularu.
Mass confusion from illusion, plant, or electric controllers and doms are also excellent powers to bring to this event. Make those nasty rularu do the work for you and kill each other! Some players may also have the Nectar temp power from the Valentines Event.
Another frequently overlooked temp power is the psi bomb available from the RWZ vanguard merit vendor. It's a 16 target AoE that does significant psi damage, has a mag 3 stun, and a 1 in 3 chance of a mag 3 confusion. -
-
Well, Mu of Flea has gone from Preatorian, to hero (x2 to get the new merit), to vigilante, and is working towards becoming a full villain so that he can access the Patrons and become a full-fledged Mu. He's level 42 from soloing and the hero TFs, with a small amount of other teaming.
He has ocassionally teamed with other elecs, or with kins. On those ocassions, AVs and GMs have been fully sapped and quickly. Soloing, he can completely sap a x3 grouping and keep them confused, slept, or bouncing -- sometimes all of the above.
The gremlins have to be the weakest pet I have ever had. Well, some MM pets are just as squishy, but you get to upgrade them and tell them what to do and where to go. But for controllers and Doms, they have to be the squishiest. I find myself resummoning them multiple times per mission. Maybe if I had a support secondary I could buff or heal them and it wouldn't be so bad.
All in all, I am enjoying this powerset combination. It's very different from other control sets that I have played. He can be played at range, but he really excells at being in the middle of a mob causing chaos and sapping endurance.
I'll be running Villain tips for the next two days or so and then the Scirocco arc. Look me up if you'd like to team in the evenings before midnight eastern. -
I have a level 42 elec/elec dom that I soloed through Praetoria and much of the time afterwards, with the exception of running TFs.
I agree that Static Field is essential early as part of any solo build. Cast it from range and close to melee alternating Jolting Chain and your single target attacks. If anyone wakes up, they will have little to any endurance and usually just brawl you.
Once you get Synaptic Overload, open with that and then do the same as above. Now if anyone wakes up they will hit each other.
I am currently soloing at x3 with no bosses and not having any problems. Once I get a few more IOs I will crank up the difficulty a little higher.
Here's a link with my build. Although it is more expensive than yours, the sleep and confuse purples are among the cheapest purples you can find. But you slotted the PvP IO defense set, which is one of the most expensive. Those five IOs are probably worth close to my entire build.
You also picked a defense shield from your patron. While there is nothing wrong with that, I would want to invest in IOs that grant smash/lethal defense.
