I've always thought that players should give drops like any other mob. So in addition to the occasional rare PVPIO drop, I think they should also drop regular IO recipes, SOs, and inspirations as well as inf and XP. So long as it remains tied to the bounty timer (can't kill the same target over and over again quickly) then I don't think it is exploitable. In fact, it would be less exploitable than the regular game, where you can earn all those things faster.
Boiling down what is fun from posts in this thread:- the ability to contribute with a wide variety of ATs and powersets
- playing with and against many players
- intuitive play (as opposed to forget everything you learned in the game and learn these arcane formulas)
- fast-paced, dynamic mechanics

Oh, I remembered one of my all time favorite PvP events!
When Recluse's Victory was first introduced on test, they auto-leveled everyone to 40 and gave them enough influence/infamy to slot your character with SOs. You could pick up odd power combos on a lark just to see if it could work. Everyone was "balanced" in that there was no IOs, or accolades, or anything but your build choice and your skill.
And since no one felt invested in a character they just made from scratch, there was no ego hurt if you lost.
Good times . . . -
My favorite COH PvP experiences were in the early base raids a few years back around issues 7 and 8. It was a group of friends and whoever we could recruit against a similar ragtag team.
I also enjoyed being able to go in to Siren's, Warburg, or Recluse's Victory any day and any time and find at least a few people bopping back and forth. Now on most days I don't see a soul unless there is some specific event.
Finally, I enjoyed arena when we did silly things like level 5 only, or all-squishy-AT-last-man-standing. -
Go slow if you like to go slow. Find people that like to go slow and do it with them
Go fast if you like to go fast. Find people that like to go fast and do it with them.
Don't force someone to go slow or fast if they don't want to.
Don't tell someone that doing it their way instead of your way is wrong. There is no right or wrong in this particular discussion. Only preferences.
Unless you disagree with me. In which case you are obviously wrong. -
Oh! I forgot the best one of all. Increasing number of characters allowed in SG.

Question: Is there a history of base building development readily available? I want to look at what has been added to bases from the beginning. My recollection is we got:
- the base decorations as vet rewards (banners, tables, posters, and planes)
- Crafting table and Personal Salvage Vault
- COP with SG Items of Power returning for about a week or so
- Removal of ALL base raiding
- Removal of raid pathing which allowed some additional design options
Did I miss anything? -
I have two characters that I consider versatile: My peacebringer and my sonic/rad corrupter.
The peacebringer can be tank, blaster, scrapper, or defender, as the need arises. I took the medicine pool to be able to act as a defender in an emergency with two heals and stimulant. Between its self-heals, shields, light form, dwarf form, and phase shifting from quantum flight, it is hard to kill unless I'm not paying attention or click the wrong button.
The sonic/rad has all the goodness of rad that Arcanaville described and the sonic adds a ton of -resistance that stacks with enervating field. It can hold, sleep, stun, -regen, -tohit, -defense, -damage, slow, a ton of -resistance, heal, rez, +damage, +speed, and do some serious damage once the -resistance stacks and the scourges start flowing. -
The time to get a GM varies wildly. I have had them show up in a few minutes and I have had them show up hours later. I have also had them fix the problem while I was offline. Sometimes they attempted a fix but didn't really understand the problem.
It depends on the date and time (more likely to have a full staff at 6:00 pm PST on Friday than 4:00 am PST on Saturday). And it depends on the volume of requests they have in the pipeline when yours is submitted.
I'm sorry you had this problem, but hope it gets resolved soon. -
I remember way back in Issue 1 or so, my regular COH friend was MA/SR scrapper and I was an Inv/SS tank. He HATED Nemesis and DE and I thought they were pushovers. But if we went into a Malta or Carnie mission it was my turn to be afraid. He would just wade in and not get hit at all, while my Invulnerable seemed terribly vulnerable to psy damage and endurance drain.
I think that it's OK to have an NPC or even an NPC group that is strong against your character. That gives you a reason to seek out another player that covers your weakness, And, in spite of all the soloers that like to play this game, I believe it's good for MMOs to encourage teaming in this way. -
I like hard content as much as anyone, but that doesn't mean everything has to be hard for everyone all the time. Some people like to play it mellow. And they should have that option.
I didn't mind the ambushes too much, although it got silly sometimes to have eight NPCs bearing down on you solo at level 12. But I can see that on a stalker, a low HP melee class with stealth as its main strength, that heat-seeking ambushes can be too much. -
Quote:Unemployment started it's downward spiral in April 08 -- a year before. But I grant you that the economy was also a large contributing factor.IIRC, that's also around the time that the economy was firmly going to hell in a handbasket, and unemployment increases really kicked in.

Hmmm . . . why the drop after Q209? Mission Architect was released early April 2009 so I would expect an increase, not a decline. Oh! I remember, Positron had his hissy fit regarding AE exploits. They disciplined a number of players and instituted a forum blackout. I cancelled my second account over that for awhile, but eventually resubbed. I guess other people left and never came back.

Welcome to the madhouse!
P.S. Oh, oh. This Zwillinger guy really knows Internet law. I think we're in trouble! -

I went with Nerve for my grav/ff controller. Most of my other characters have gone cardiac or spiritual. I went musculature on my TA/A defender to buff up it's offense and he can use many of the other debuff effects.

I know that I saw a few new electric characters during double XP weekend. But Mu of Flea has hit 50 and has taken a back seat to other new projects.
However, I would be willing to break him out on occasion. Send me a tell to @Bionic Flea. -
NEWSFLASH!
Tru Warrir arrested for abandonment. Film at 11:00.

I can see that team suffered from too much leadership . . . .

PS. I remember THX-1138. A very strange movie. And I have seen some THX-1138 references in other places but I didn't know about Leia. -
They usually move what is on test to live. 19.5 is currently on test. Ergo . . .

You can post whatever you want within the boundaries of the rules, but generally speaking calling people names usually does not get them to do what you want unless you have the force of arms or physical might to back it up -- which no one can really do on the Internet.
Then again, there have been lots of even-tempered, well reasoned PvP posts requesting change that have been equally ignored. So *shrug* I guess it doen't matter either way.
