    Bad news

    That sucks, LSK.

My dad also fought against cancer. If you ever need to talk or to have someone listen and understand, you know how to reach me in game and on the boards.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
  2. Nice work!

I would play a DE Flea! Especially with all custom eminators as hives/swarms.
  3. Consider running WTFs on your other server alts and if you get lucky enough, join a ship raid for the merits to buy a gr'ai matter.

The WTFs will give you the Notice which you will need later or you can breakdown into 4-6 shards or 40 threads. The WTF can also supply you with a component and miscellaneous shards.

Your idea to run BAFs is also solid.
  4. Belated congratulations on the anniversary of your de-wombing.
  5. Is there any additional info available about the COH Comic Con Meet and Greet? Time, location, how to get tickets, etc?

I will be leaving Monday to start my trek to San Diego so the sooner I get some info the better I will be able to plan.
  6. My understanding of the purpose for all the I13 changes was for encounters to be resolved by someone dying. No player was supposed to be able to escape forever or be healed forever.

I don't agree with that design goal and I don't think that they achieved their desired goal. But I do think that was what they were aiming for.
  7. The old incarnation of PvP certainly had its faults. There were some very effective tactics and certain characters could ruin certain other characters.

BUT, there was a counter for everything and in that laid the true beauty of the old system. If someone was running away with any travel powers you could try slows, or holds, or webnades. Then the escaping player would need to obtain a speed boost or clear mind/clarity. Or as mentioned above, a teleporting foe could be teleported right back, unless he had the forethought to pop a sturdy inspiration.

In a competition between player, there will be winners and losers by necessity. Losing is generally unfun. Attempting to design PvP such that it is never unfun for those who lose an encounter is doomed to fail.
  8. I used to consider myself at least a casual PvPer. I went to the zones with some friends that are more hardcore. I participated in a few team arena contests. I actually was on two winning teams!

I even moved to Freedom server for a while when all the PvPers congregated there. But after trying PvP several times after the I13 changes, I completely lost any desire to do it anymore. My tankers had less resistance than some blasters, my rad corrupter couldn't keep toggles on anyone anymore, couldn't escape, can't heal himself out of danger.

I think we need to have a civil discussion with Synapse. He's the main powers guy now and seems to be pretty cool. But if he pokes his head in here and the usual suspects jump down his throat tossing the same old insults, don't be surprised if the conversation ends abruptly and nothing gets changed.
  9. Sorry to say this Snow, but I think most of your problems come from playing on Triumph. It sounds that you don't have a large core of good players to help you.
  10. I think his point was that if a player does not have the time, the skill, or the capacity to change tactics in order to get a badge (or other shiney) the developers should not make it less time consuming or easier to get just to satisfy that player.

The game shouldn't all be hard and time consuming, but it shouldn't all be easy and spoon fed either.

To pick my own nit, Keyes does require teamwork. You need a group to lead antimatter around, a group to get the temp powers and a group to clear around the terminals. If you get a team that runs it like clockwork (pun!), you can just about clear a whole reactor before AM even shows up. The faster you do it, the less pulses, the less potential deaths. That speed needs teamwork and coordination.

There is no reason why people should be going to the hospital in a steady stream. Before you go in, stock up on green inspirations and use them after the pulse. Between those, teammates, self heals, and destiny rebirth, a team should be able to survive long enough to get the reactors.

Now if you want to talk about the pulse when getting Anti-anti-matter, you'll have no argument from me. That pulse damage is crazy!
  12. I'm sorry to hear @Kinetic Jaunt is in the hospital. I hope he has a speedy and complete recovery.

  13. I don't think powerboost affects KB anymore. It used to once upon a time.
  14. It's only a couple of weeks away. I am guessing there are details of Issue 21 that have yet to be released. If nothing else, we should get some good screen shots of new stuff.

Best of all, I WILL ACTUALLY BE THERE!!

I got tickets for Thursday and Saturday at SDCC for me, the wife, and 3 geeks-in-training. Yay!

New Info: I don't know if you guys saw NCsoft's Comic-Con page, but they have their panel itineraries, booth events like signed goodies and character sketches, and a TBA meet and greet that requires a ticket and over 21. Check it out.
  15. Tried a mostly PuG badge run last night on Justice. We had a lot of melee and very little in the way of healing, but . . .

We did manage to get Anti Anti Matter and boy was that painful. Taking him down to 10% on the first reactor is sadistic from the devs and masochistic from the players' perspective. Trying to get Loves a Challenge and Anti-Anti-Matter on the same run may be a fool's errand, but we tried and failed. Even though we had lots of deaths, we still went for killing AM without getting hit by green or destroying any of the terminals.

Surprisingly, killing AM without destroying the regen terminals was not that hard. We did have a pet destroy one of the 12, but it didn't matter since we had multiple deaths at that point. But it was nice to know it isn't hard.

We also tried for bunker buster but didn't get it. It's hard to pin down exactly why with so much chaos, but I think we were a little slow on the last door of the last bunker.

We also failed horribly at Avoids the Green Stuff. I think I was telling people to move once and didn't move far enough myself. Doh! And many of us, myself included, didn't pay enough attention to his health to synchronize his time stop with an absence of green.

All in all, it was painful but a good learning experience. I think the other badges should be easier than A A M. I don't recommend going after all of the badges in one run.

Also, thanks Snow Globe (and everyone else) for the information in this thread. It was a helpful source last night.

    VIP server

I will definitely make new characters there, and I may transfer something to either make space or just to have a pre-existing 50. But I am keeping most characters right where they are.
  19. I think Freedom or any other "regular" server should be the unofficial PvP server instead of the new VIP one.

I agree that you will have lots of returning vets looking to play with their old friends. As I understand it, returning players are somewhere in between the F2P group and the VIP group. The longer they had a paid subscription the closer they are to VIP.

I also think that existing characters would not lose IOs they already have. Don't know about respecs though.
  20. Not bad and fairly inexpensive, but you spent money on -kb which invulnerable does not need. I made some changes which will definitely increase the price, but also improves defense, HP, and acc/damage for your basic attacks.

  22. The -regen is in emp arrow -- a more than decent -1000, just like Poison Gas Trap. Unlike poison gas trap, it kills your recovery and has an incredibly long recharge. Chances are you will only get to use it once against an AV while a trapper can get a few in.

And yes the -tohit will stack with smoke.

But I'm not sure that 2 emps and a TA can take an AV. Not a lot of -regen or damage. It may be possible but it won't be easy and would require all three to have very specialized and expensive builds. If you add a fourth with either high DPS or more debuff it should not be a problem at all.
