Hmmm . . . this intrigues me.
I was wondering what to do for double XP and this may be just the ticket.
But I need to figure out what new character I am going to make for Double XP. -
Papa!
Welcome back, buddy.
Let me know if you need anything. -
Welcome to CoH and Justice, Mr and Mrs Medic!
You may want to check out ParagonWiki if you ever have a question about anything in the City. It really is quite an amazing encyclopedia and is being updated constantly.
You may also want to check out Mid's Hero Designer, which lets you build up a character's powers and enhancements, change things around, and look at the stats your build will have. It's very handy. -
This thread is going downhill faster than Lindsey Vonn in a bikini!

My inv/ss tank took rebirth with regen over +hp.
Between dull pain, rebirth and my existing abilities I think I may be immortal.
I have also prevented team wipes by a well timed heal, like right after a Marauder nova punch.
Finally, I am earning all those healing badges that I thought my main would never get! -
Way back at the dawn of time (about 82 months ago), I first entered the Outbreak tutorial zone . . . . No wait! There was no tutorial one back then.
I entered into Atlas Park close to the statue. I saw a large, green B. Banner run by, a xXWolverineXx slashing gang bangers, and a scantily clad woman beseeching players to join her group. I had no idea what to do.
I had read the little booklet that came with the game and decided that Bionic Flea would be a tough, invulnerable/super strength tank with the leaping pool (because fleas jump not fly!) I had no idea what to do, where to go, how to target, or how to send tells or switch to team chat. I think I spoke in broadcast for several weeks. There was a nice player who took me under his wing for an hour or so and taught me the basics. Thanks mysterious stranger!
I chose Resist Physical Damage over Temporary Invulnerability because they both added resistance but RPD cost no endurance, so it must be better! When I had a chance to pick up Temp. Inv. later I skipped it because it seemed redundant. I picked jump kick over Unyielding Stance because fleas jump and I didn't want to be stuck in one place. I don't remember how many other mistakes I made back then. But I kept reading the forums and getting advice from players in game and tried to correct my mistakes by picking up the essential powers I had skipped. I had no choice, respecs would not be introduced until several months later.
Despite my noobiness, I had fun. I mainly soloed, because I didn't want to subject my stupidity on others who seemed to know what was going on. Leveling initially was an hourly thing but that quickly changed from hourly to daily to weekly, and probably monthly towards the end. It took me longer because zoning took quite a bit of time on a dial up modem and I would run out of missions all the time to regain health and endurance.
Anyway, my point is that new players will make mistakes but that is a necessary part of the learning curve. You can have fun despite those mistakes. -
I have the perfect solution!!
Give the doors on the reactor room catwalk the Halloween treatment. The more you click, the more baddies come out.
That way teams that want to could take a breather between rounds if they needed to regroup or accommodate an AFK while other teams that want to speed it up or like to swim in a sea of NPCs could click all the doors at once.
EVERYONE WINS!!! -
Will you two go get a room already?
The sexual tension is killing me. -
No thanks. I don't feel the need to respec a power before it has a few slots and at least SOs. You really don't have a good feel for it until then.

Quote:I've long thought that this would be the best and easiest fix -- a way to designate something as a farm or a story and then the ability to filter either out.
I just wish there was a good way of segregating their arcs from story-arcs in the AE interface. Everyone would win then.

I arrive in a new town, eager to sample its culinary delights. I check in to my hotel and freshen up, and then grab a taxi.
"Take me to where the good restaurants are, please!" I say.
The taxi driver drops me off in a busy main square where every single eaterie is a KFC, McD, Burger King, Spud U Like or Subways.
It turns out that the restaurants with well-crafted quality meals are hidden away in windy back alleys and way out in the suburbs and suchlike.
The town is the AE.
The fast-food joints are the AE farm arcs.
The 'good' restaurants are the AE story-arcs.
The Taxi Driver is the AE search interface.
Eco.
Do you shoot the taxi driver?
Do you burn down the McDonalds?
Do you stand on a street corner with signs demanding people not eat fast food?
Do you write an op-ed asking others to do the things above for you?
Or do you find a way new way to find the restaurants you like, maybe starting by asking the cab driver a different question. Something like, "Where can I find the best steak in town?" -
I'm all for free stuff even if they try to sell me something first. I won't buy it if I don't want it so commercials never bother me.
-
The problem with AE is that it is entirely too democratic. People are actually allowed to vote for things that they like, even if those things are not good.
We need someone to throw out all those popular things so that people learn to enjoy good things.
P.S. Good luck with that. -
Oh! Then tell them it's like Farmville with superpowers or Angry Birds that you can dress and color anyway you like!
-
Well, this answer is awfully trite considering what is coming in the near future, but there is really is one word that best defines this game:
Freedom.
You are free to make a unique character with unique looking powers and any back story you can dream up . . . or pick random and go.
You can solo or team and still progress.
You can go slow or fast.
You can read every word or skip them all.
You can role play, explore, punch things, shoot things, collect badges, PvP, play the market, or choose to ignore any of these . . . or even most of them if you so choose.
And in a few weeks, you can chose to do all that for free or a little more for a little less than $0.50 a day. -
Sorry to disagree with so many, but I absolutely despise Statesman as a character as well as his look. That half helmet thing drives me absolutely crazy! What does he do, superglue it to his forehead?
And why does he have it? It's not for protection, his head is as invlunerable as the rest of him. And it's not to disguise his identity BECAUSE HE HAS A MASK UNDERNEATH IT!
Sorry, I had to let that out.
One of my favorites is Black Scorpion. He is imposing and looks powerful. His different arms suggest that he is experimenting on himself to increase in power. -
In order to enforce a female only server, you would have to post your picture and real name so that we could . . . . ummm . . . . verify that you qualified.

I think it's silly to end the trial if the league falls below a minimum amount of players.
Some of the most satisfying times I have had in this game is doing things people said could not be done. Finishing an RSF with 6 players, one of them being a stalker (way before IOs) when everyone said you needed 7 corrupters and a stone tank is one of those satisfying times.
I think the players should have the choice to run with a smaller team if they want to. I don't even think we need forced mandatory minimums. All that is required is a clear warning that the task is designed for X number of players.
I don't like it when the devs limit players and dictate how we must play. They certainly have the power to do so, but I don't like it. -
With Facebook Fridays now becoming a tradition, can Twitter Tuesday be far behind?
And what can we expect after that?
MySpace Mondays?
Wiki Wednesdays?
Tumblr Thursdays?
ASmallWorld Saturday?
And sysomous Sundays to wrap it up and see how we did? -
First, I don't think that you can necro a stickied thread.
Second, please stop the petty bickering and respect the OP. Mac did a great job putting that together and you all are bickering about who is bad and whether the game is a joke. -
You can vote however you please, but I think it is only fair to actually play though at least the first mission.

There is something about the incarnate trials that makes me disconnect just about every time I run one.
Most other content runs fine and it is the rare occasion that I get booted. And when I do it is usually some other reason, like lightning in the area, or my router acting up.
But I almost universally get booted every time I join a BAF, Lambda, or Keyes. Sometimes it is zoning in, sometimes just as we are ending and I have been deprived of the end reward several times because of it. Grrrr! But usually it is somewhere in the middle. -
Please keep the verbal PvP out of this thread. It's been a fairly clean discussion and doesn't need the usual ad hominem attacks.
