With the 7.12s, I set FSAA and Anisotropic Filtering to Let App Decide within the CCC.

Cat AI off. Vert Sync off. Triple Buffering off.

Went in game. Game managed FSAA will not enable no matter what it is set on. General FPS still sucks.

All pixel buffer/postprocess/hdr effects are still N/A with the exception of High Water, which still borks driver managed FSAA.

The 7.12s are even worse than the 7.11s.

Now rolling back to 7.10s.

It shows that the Nvidia 8800GT outperforms the 3870 by more than the 3870 outperforms my X1950XTX.

My honest advice to you is to return the 3870, if you can, and purchase an 8800GT or an 8800GTS w/512MB. Not the other flavors of 8800GTS.

The 8800GT is a better card for less money.

7.10s allowed me to access the HDR effects again.

I loaded up the 7.12s. Went into Graphics Options in game, and guess what?

Depth of Field: N/A
Bloom: N/A
Desaturation Effects: N/A

Sittin at 60FPS in RV right outside the entrance.

Setting Water to High FX, disabled FSAA, and caused the flame aura in my eyes to get redder. Low is still fine.

Interesting.

Moving through RV causes my FPS to plummet to 30, even moving back over areas I already loaded.

Rolling back to the 7.10s. Actually.... scratch that. Went outside for a smoke and had a lightbulb flash.

Testing something with the 7.12s.

Nvidia 7900GS $179 A much better card than the 7600.

The ATI X1950 Pro AGP is better than both, but is no longer available at newegg.

Really bugs me that those are greyed out.

Is Star doing the full steps before installing the 7.12s?

Uninstall from add/remove
Reboot
Cancel XP's autoinstall twice
Disable Anitvirus program
Run Driver Sweeper to finish cleaning out old driver garbage
Install new drivers
Reboot and let settle


Does anyone have a 3870 that isn't having this problem?

Had anyone at NCSoft tested with this card?

Ya know... the 8800 has the black texture issues. Then you've got the other posts about stripes with the latest drivers.

Maybe this is yet another issue that is due to the game being so old and unable to work properly with new hardware/drivers.

Neither of you have mentioned what Desaturation Effects is set for in game.

Did you both disable it?

Matter of fact, let's start over.

Here's what I need to see:

Current driver installed

ALL settings both in game and in CCC.

I find it weird that you are both experiencing a problem that I've never seen before and would like to see if I can reproduce it.

Course, if you're both running Vista, then it's a moot point and I'd be left blaming it on Vista and/or AMD's Vista drivers.

EDIT: Wait... just reread the last few pages... are the two of you on the same system with the 3870?

As per the original post, Bloom, Depth of Field and High Water FX all break FSAA.

To add to that, with Issue 11, they added Desaturation Effects, which also break FSAA exactly as the others.

Set Water FX to Low. Disable the other three. (Easy since you can't enable bloom and DoF.)

FSAA and AF should be off in game and on in the CCC.

With this setup, does FSAA function and are you still getting the same funky colors?

The 7.11s were flaky for me. Try going back to the 7.10s. Vertical screen tearing? Do you have Vertical Sync and Triple Buffering enabled in the CCC?

At the end of your CoH shortcut's target line, add -usetexenvcombine outside of the ""s if you see any. This forces the game into a simpler render path and might help.

When rolling back, be sure to follow the reinstall steps outlined earlier. I've downloaded and used the Driver Sweeper program and it seems ok.

The were floundering and then the AMD buyout buried them. ATI is dead and worthless... at least at this time.

There's a high probability that your video card drivers are out of date.

Vid card won't cause that. That's network lag. Seein a bit of it on live right now.. but I'm not experiencing any. Just other people jittering and jumping.

There's older cards than you think running this game. What card, EXACTLY, are you talking about?

You said a 1650. Is this a Mobility 1650? If so go to ati.amd.com/online/mobilecatalyst

It's a direct download to mobility drivers that don't have that idiotic validation. Sadly, it's ONLY XP-32 bit drivers. So if you're not running that, they won't work.

If it's not a mobility card, do a google search on the mobility modder mentioned above.

If you don't like those instructions, hit omegadrivers.net and get the Radeon drivers for your operating system. Grab the set based on the 7.10s. He tweaks them so that they'll install without issue wherever.

There's always an answer. All it takes is a little work to find it.

You could try.

I know that I can see all fire FX because I have a /FA brute and ran a fire/dark corruptor for quite a while.

I also know that a lot of the fire FX were tweaked and have issues similar to the way water gets the ghost image if any of the post-proceesing garbage is going on.

I think I still have a 9800 at home. Does anyone else out there run a 9800 and CAN see all fire FX?
