i guess this is just a personal peeve, but i wish youd stop calling game updates 'free expansions'.
every pay to play online game updates and expands there game as it progresses through patches, these are not some unique 'free expansions' we are getting, they are simply patches and updates to the game just like every other paid mmo you can subscribe to.
i guess its just semantics, but calling them 'free expansions' makes me feel like you think you are talking to idiots who dont realize every single paid mmo has the exact same thing, but they just call them patches.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh really? Was The Burning Crusade given free to WoW players? Waht about Wrath of the Lich King? Will it be free?
What about Guild Wars? No subscription cost, but all of its expansions have been by cost.
Don't get me wrong, I consider my monthly fee part of the deal in getting me the new issues for this game, and if those issues stopped, so would my monthly sub.
But we aren't being charged on top of our monthly fee for game updates. -

Real numbers - Long, long, long overdue. Make sure they are kept accurate though. When the history of keeping power text upto date with chnages isn't exactly good, this is key.
To me its better to have no numbers, than wrong numbers.
[/ QUOTE ]
In the past, this has been a major problem. This time around, I'm very confident that's much less likely to happen.
I'm guessing people will be pleased with this one.
Edit: see this part: "This includes a user configurable display of important characteristics such as movement rate, regeneration rate, resistances and many more! Additionally, you will be able to see how those statistics are affected in real time by buffs and/or debuffs affecting your character." This implies something about where these numbers will be coming from: this is not a "Prima" thing that can be messed up by bad editing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't this imply an overhaul of the enhancement system? Or will this be separate?
Meaning if I'm about to slot an enhancement, will I see current value and future value on mouseover with an enhancement? -

I get AA working fine with the Catalysts as long as Bloom, DoF, High Water and Desaturation Effects are all disabled. X1950XTX here. I also used to use the Omegas. I stopped when I stopped noticing any performance gain over the associated Cats.
In the end, though, using ATI cards on the whole have become far more of a hassle than they are worth.
I don't like having to have .net framework installed in order to install my drivers. Omegas don't need that, but they do force you to load up ATITools in order to tweak anything. So you're damned either way.
One item that I'm not looking forward to with my future jump to Nvidia is their control panel. I recently had the chance to be in front of a system with dual 8600GTs, and I found Nvidia's control panel to be a clunky mess. I'm not looking forward to relearning everything. -

None of those resist mean a thing when you get perma mezzed
[/ QUOTE ]
A: A single break free in PvE. I find it difficult to believe, especially now, that a blaster can't kill a single mezzer in 30 seconds.
B: Multiple breakfrees against a perma-dom dominator. I find it difficult to believe, especially now, that a blaster can't kill a single dom in 30 seconds. -

Giving Blasters Unstoppable Jr. is unforgivable.
[/ QUOTE ]
I still don't see why. So what that a blaster can have up to 55%(slotted) resist for two minutes. Still won't take long for a Rikti Chief Soldier to take the blaster's head off if he isn't paying attention. There still isn't mez protection. So I fail to see how it is such a big deal.
[/ QUOTE ]
Look at all the Force Mastery pool.
The blaster starts off with Temp Invul.
Toggle and fully slotted: 32.76 to S/L
Now he pops Force of Nature:
Fully slotted: 54.6 to all but psi.
So now he's sitting at whatever the blaster cap is for s/l, and 54.6% to the rest.
Oh, no! FoN is about to crash! So he pops PFF for 81.9% defense and 43.7 dam-res to all. Look, right back at that cap. Can't affect anything, but he can sit there mocking whatever is in front of him.
Show me how a corruptor can pull that off, again? Oh, you can't. No one can. How anyone can call this remotely fair, logical or rational, I'll never understand. -

And yet some folks want to compound one error by duplicating it villanside ?
[/ QUOTE ]
What's the bigger error, villains and heroes not being equal, or heroes being overpowered?
One getting fixed would be a tad more displeasing to the playerbase than the other...
[/ QUOTE ]
The correct answer is to do what's necessary to take away the hero side advantage without making PvE villain side as much of a joke as it is hero side.
Unfortunately, if this means nerfing a few APP powers. So be it. -

[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree, a scrapper with unstoppable can do some crazy [censored] as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Scrappers have damage mitigation as their secondary. They're supposed to be able to take hits. Blasters are supposed to be the glass cannons.
Blasters getting scrapper level mitigation was a bad idea. -

Believe me when I say this - anything that has NOTHING to do with Arachnos is, at this point, a boon to CoV
[/ QUOTE ]
I can agree to that. A 5th patron. A non-patron pool. Hell, a SET of non-patron pools. Then those that want them can get them, and those that don't can get something else. -
[ QUOTE ]
Kinda like complaining controllers get click mez protection in one epic pool.
Last time I checked Doms get it at level 1.
[/ QUOTE ]
But they didn't before it was added to domination.
Which would be a fine workaround for brutes and FA. Give fury scaling +tohit as it already gives scaling +damage. -
As the % of problem powers is small compared to the normal level of APP/PPP powers, the answer seems to be obvious.
Here's an example:
I love my new sm/wp brute. He's a lotta fun. But I don't feel that my Accuracy is good enough, and that's with 2acc SOs in each attack. So what can I, as a brute, do to fix that?
Well, I can take two powers to get me to tactics.
3 slotted with cytoskeletons (for the tohit buff and endred) and I'll have a power that costs .2EPS and buffs my tohit by ~11%.
A scrapper or tank can take Focused accuracy by itself, not needing to waste a power slot, put 3 cytos in it and have a power that costs .6EPS and buffs tohit by 31.2%. 3X the end cost and buff as tactics.
I'd happily pay the extra end costs on my brute to be able to ignore SO slotted Super Reflexes entirely.
But look at the extra end cost!!! Well, scrappers and tanks taking FocAcc also get Conserve Power, which has no equivalent at all villain side.
I don't see the devs giving Villain meleers access to FA and CP. Yes, it would be the fair thing to do, but I don't think it would be the right thing to do. In the end, though, it might be what they HAVE to do.
Can you imagine the uproar if they decided to remove Body Mastery or even nerf it? -
So add the oddballs as a 5th and 6th power to each PPP.
If a tank and scrapper can get FA/CP, so should my brute and/or stalker be able to get them.
Let our corruptors run around herding their own spawns like blasters can.
Seriously, it's one or the other. Either give the overpowered powers to the villains to balance against the heroes, or nerf those powers down to levels on par with the PPPs. -

If it's one game with 2 factions, then an issue devoted to either side (including the red side) shouldn't cause a stir on the forums. But it did, and it would again if the devs did that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because there's plenty of idiots running around here with overblown senses of entitlement... on both sides.
It's one game. Believing otherwise is incorrect.
Nope. I would NOT gripe about another issue 7. Or 8. Or 9. Or 10. Or 11.
Other than the one gripe I've always had: that bugs and performance never get the attention they deserve. And can you imagine this? It's bugs and performance issues ON BOTH SIDES!!!!
Amazing. -
[ QUOTE ]
Terra, would you support that additions from this point on that left the current "blue side" exactly as is while updating only red side?
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know about Terra, but I'd say no. Even though I'm predominantly a red-sider.
Mostly because then psycho/irrational/emo-blue siders would pop out of the woodwork like some red-siders in this thread have.
Villain side DOES need some work. There is no denying that. But making the IDIOTIC, IRRATIONAL, BASELESS accusation that the devs hate the red side will not get anything done. -
[ QUOTE ]
Wait... Bill... are you trying to say that a person can ask for addressal to issues unique to the faction sides yet NOT BE SINGLE SIDE PLAYER!?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sweet, sweet, Satan, I think I AM!!!!
[ QUOTE ]
Ye jest, sir... surely ye jest. By this logic, many of the folks who object to a blue or red item of some sort might be doing so out of GAME concern, not faction rivalry! And those who wrote them off as a mindless side-supporter would be... nuts!

Perfect response, Emnity.
This is one game. I play it all. I prefer redside.
*Now STOP. The 3 sentences I just typed are not tied to what I'm about to type.*
Villain side market is broken. PPPs suck, were badly designed and are in NO WAY better than APPs.
Merge the markets. Do a total rehash of the PPPs.

These are the people who ask for merged markets.
These and the people who actually understand economics.

These are the people who don't care if villains get shafted by the grossly inflated prices that heroes charge and are willing to pay for who knows how long before the markets come anywhere close to "equilibrium".
No one on the villainside pays 10,000 inf for BRASS.

This is hardly the first time someone came up with the "two separate but merged" games concept. They are STILL two SEPARATE but merged games.
[/ QUOTE ]
You cannot have two things be both "separate" and "merged." This is like saying something can be black and white, at the same time. These are mutually exclusive concepts.
[/ QUOTE ]
Zebras
[/ QUOTE ]
We are discussing the concept of mutual exclusivity, not comparing either CoH or CoV to a striped animal of whatever color. At least, I missed where anyone said that here.
If you're saying that the fact that zebras have only two coat-colors completely nullifies the concept of mutual exclusivity at all times, places and instances.... well.
"Mutual exclusivity cannot exist, because zebras have stripes...!" Where is that eyeroll smiley when you need it most...?
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with Zebras.
CoH/V is a single game. Two sides. Like a coin. Same engine. Villain side has more junk in it hammering performance.
Same powers, barring a couple sets. Different combinations leads to a different feel of the gameplay, but it's still the same missions, the same enemies, the same damage output, the same broken defense, the same mechanics, the same sky.
Separate markets, but that was a bad decision.
Zebras. Coins. Get contact, do missions, level to 50, start new alt or PvP.
Same game. -

First, the gave me CoV. Where all the ATs can solo well at a good pace, unlike hero side, where only one AT can do it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Scrappers, Blasters, Peacebringers, and Warshades can all solo well at a reasonable pace. That's four. I haven't done the PB thing past level 7, but with their buffs self-contained I'm confident in my statement.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually Tankers and controllers also solo well. Or at least I haven't had any complaints with them. Are they slower than my hot knife through butter scrapper? Sure but they don't take forever to solo either.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did state "a good pace." Blasters do play differently since Defiance 2.0 was introduced. I could add them. Khels though, especially if you try to go human only from level 1, are painfully slow. PBs less than WSs. Tanks suck endurance and do piddly damage. Controllers? The most painful of all until much later in the game. Try soloing one from level 1 again some time.
In the end, though, a "good pace" is a highly subjective term. -

There's this thing called Stamina....
[/ QUOTE ]
After much research and many experiments, I have concluded that... There is no such thing as Stamina. It's only a myth to scare little children.
[/ QUOTE ]
Odd. See, I think it's a myth that we get 4 power pool choices. None of my characters get 4. They only get three.
I am forced to take swift/health/stamina on all characters.
Seriously. Forced. You want the truth? Statesman actually gave up CoH/V because he stands behind me with a gun at my head until I get stamina. He didn't have time with that, his new kid and his other games to keep on with CoH/V.
For truth. Really.
Oh, and on topic, CoV is more fun for me. Obviously the devs like me more than all the silly people whining.
First, the gave me CoV. Where all the ATs can solo well at a good pace, unlike hero side, where only one AT can do it. The rest are slow or boring.
With that, they gave me brutes. Brutes have this thing called fury. It lets me slot my attacks for acc, end-red and rec-red so all my attacks come up sooner, cost less end and hit more, which builds fury faster, which means I do more damage.
In other words, I get to NOT suck like hero ATs do before SOs.
Yup. The devs love villains. At least villains that play like I do.
But I'm special. I have a Z as my middle initial.
