  1. Same problem if you have AF disabled in CCC but enabled in game?

CoX runs perfectly for me. Not a single issue. W7-64 with a 9600GT on the Windows Update drivers.

    Issues I do have:
CSS FPS issues - but this seems to have worked itself out.
No X-Fi drivers for it (no surprise considering how long it took to get Vista drivers), but there is an unofficial PAX version that runs almost perfectly on W7 without some of the advanced features.

This is possibly the easiest, most stable OS beta i have ever used from MS.

As an aside, why is it always necessary to have these idiotic OS arguments in any thread like this? I'm sure the thread title says "Windows 7 and City of Heroes.".

[/ QUOTE ]Because you will always have haters who will always come into a thread and totally bash something with almost no real justification. It just ends up being a battle of why its good, why you should upgrade to it (via clean install), how well its worked out for you, then someone comes along and tries to make the OS out to be the worst thing ever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It's true.

And Win7 has already shown itself to not be the worst thing on the block for me, and I still haven't found time to test gaming with it. As a work OS, though, I think it'll be ok, barring a few ancient apps that won't run.

Folks like to argue, especially on dis here intarwebs.

Win7 will not being going down in history as the worst MS OS ever. In order, those are Win3.1, WinME and Vista.

  3. If set in the CCC, it overrides the game.

If AA isn't functioning, as per the first post in this thread, you probably have bloom, depth of field, high water or desaturation effects turned on.

If all of those are disabled, and you have FSAA set in the CCC, and FSAA is still not functioning, then I have no clue. Something else is now broken.

And considering Agent Ruby's sudden appearance and then total silence, I'd expect that if anything new breaks, it will probably stay that way like everything else that gets broken regarding ATI around here.
  4. Going from 10.4 to 10.5 is more akin to applying a SP3 to XP. Quite a bit different than attempting to upgrade XP to Win7 or even Vista to Win7.

If an OS can't be upgraded without causing issues, it's a terrible OS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If things were perfect before they were released we wouldnt need upgrades then would we. Things are not perfect and peoples opinions change daily. If you can make a better O/S do it yourself.

    [/ QUOTE ]
What are you talking about? We're not commenting on an older OS. We're commenting on the ability of the new OS to run well as an upgrade install instead of a clean install. There's no such thing as a perfect OS, but at least all the Linux and OS X techies don't insist you do a clean install of a new version.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Riiiight. No one had any issues upgrading OS9 to OSX. heh.

Right. Which is why I try to never do OS upgrades either. I know MS operating systems are flaky PoSs. It's my job to know that.

At home, my workstation is about 1.5 years overdue for a wipe. Were I to buy Win7, the workstation would be wiped before Win7 touched it. My gamer rig was just rehashed a week or two back.

At work, any time a user leaves the company, their rig is formatted after their data is yanked and stored. I *never* migrate a rig from one user to another unless I absolutely must have it done *now* without wiping it.

The only time I would ever do OS upgrades would be when corporate comes down and says, "You have one week to migrate your entire installation from XP with Win7." Even then, I would immediately begin transitioning everyone from their current upgraded rigs to freshly installed ones.

How many are checking this out on 64-bit?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If there's a way to upgrade my Vista 32bit (which I feel I was a victim of false advertising and don't want to spend a hundred or so more to fix it right now) I'll probably upgrade to 7-64 towards release :3

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless something's changed, I *think* your license for vista-32bit automatically makes you legal for vista-64bit as well. You should be able to call MS up and get vista-64 for no more than shipping costs.
  8. I think I'll be loading up Win7 on a spare HD for my gaming rig tonight.

I'm currently running it on a laptop with a celeron 1.73Ghz proc and 512MB of RAM and it is performing surprisingly well. I've installed nothing but the OS and Office 2K3. No chipset drivers, no video drivers, nada. No bangs in devman after OS install on a latitude d520.

I found the fix to allow outlook 2k3 to talk to exchange 2k as well. I had to enable Network Discovery for the domain. I assume the same fix would work for vista. Of course vista on a faster laptop was slow as carp when I recently tested it out.

I'll post any game issues I find with Win7 32bit later on tonight.

Downloaded the 32bit ISO today but haven't burnt or installed it yet.

As I haven't heard of any radical improvements over vista, I don't have high hopes, but just as with vista, I'll run the beta for a while to see what's what.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You need to pay more attention to the news There are benchmarks popping up that show it's a vast improvement over Vista and comes up above XP as well. That's pretty radical

    [/ QUOTE ]

Searching around right now shows 7 beating Vista and XP on boot times. And that's about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm interesting. Wonder why this shows differently.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dunno. And if there are other benchmarks out there showing the same thing, please post them, because my search-fu is failing to do so.

Seems a bit too glowing of a review to be trusted on its face.

CP and group energy flight really give me the impression the devs were like "huh, let's just throw this crap in there because we don't know what else to fill the powerset with."

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's how I've always viewed the design of Peacebringers.

Warshades at least feel unique among the archetypes. PBs feel slapped together with no real effort at all.

[/ QUOTE ]Is there a single PB power that isn't a very close clone of another powerset's power? I'm trying to think of one. I mean, Solar Flare isn't quite the same as Foot Stomp, because it has a higher magnitude.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    lol.. Dwarf and Nova..

    [/ QUOTE ]

Copied and tweaked versions of WS dwarf and nova.

The thing that chaps my... butt... the most is the fact that Inky Aspect negates the damage from Orbiting Death. It's one thing to have Pool Power clones in the primary or secondary sets that act exactly like those pool powers, but at least make sure some of the shiniest tools of the powersets work together.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a bug. Expect it to get fixed "soon." On the plus side, OD was still damaging enemies while the kheldian was mezzed last I checked it on test.

access to the flight and teleport powerpool : the teleport and the flight powerpool aren't available to kheldians. While the access prevention to the teleport pool is understandable for a warshade, it isn't the case for the flight pool. Same for peacebringer prevented to take the teleport pool, while it make sense for the flight pool.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If Peacebringers want to teleport, they can take Dwarf. If Warshades want to fly, they can take Nova.

We need to get around to the fact that Kheldians are meant to be played different than the standard ATs. It was the original design, and the Devs are not going to back down from that stance, and I don't think they should. And I say this with a PB that I love to play. I like it because it's different.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Blocking us from a power like air superiority is not forgivable.

Knowing that they did so because they think players are stupid and would choose fly from the pool even though it's inherent on a PB at level 1 fills me with disgust. (Partly because I know that they're right, but that's what respecs are for.)

Also knowing that the block on fly/tport pools won't be lifted will never cease to anger me. It's a BS decision.
  16. WonderHawk wins for me. Great shadows. Great power FX. Great look on her face.
  17. Have either of you checked your system's BIOS to see if there's a Fast Write option there for you to enable?

If there is, enable it there and then try again in the CCC.

Of course, it's also possible that something in the newer drivers has fragged up.
  18. All my characters are on Pinnacle. But having read this thread, I may see about using that saved name over on Liberty.

    Watching Over

The shot has awesome composition, but I can't see how you tolerate depth of field in this game.
  20. That was intentional at the time I took that shot. Usually it is up in the bottom left.

    EDIT: I'm not THAT asocial!
  21. Here's mine. 1920X1200 resolution. I think it's 80% scaling.

I have no clue how so many of you play with such cluttered screens. I'd go mad.

    Well, more mad.

(As always, don't let your browser resize it so you get the proper effect.)

    Battle-Hardened

    Nice.

Vet Badge, Name, Title, Super Group, right? (Probably not in right order.)
  23. I don't see why not, but I honestly can't recommend ATI for this game at this time.

Side note, it doesn't matter how good your rig is, you will not always be capped at 60FPS in this game at all times. Most of the time? Hell yea. But with the power graphics layer around here, even the best of the best rigs can be dropped down to 30 in huge events when the graphics are all capped out.
  24. You can change settings outside of the game with tweakcoh.

Yes. The OP should come in with an updated screenshot.... if he can get logged in that is.
