The Most Interesting Man in the World:
"I don't always tank, but when I do, I take Taunt."
Seriously, with inherent fitness I usually have too many attacks to fit them into an effective chain anyway. I take taunt as part of the chain and throw a proc in it. If I skip taunt, what am I going to take in its place that is actually going to benefit me or the team? With inherent fitness I've already got Fighting, Speed, Leaping, and depending on primary/secondary, maybe Maneuvers as a LotG +recharge mule?
If a tank has more than 5 attacks they're not using some of them all that often and/or they are highly situational. I'm a soak: it's my job. Taunt lets me do that job better.
You have plenty of attacks, you ijits! Take Taunt and proc it! Then it IS an attack! -
What side do you pick more than others?
Blueside, about 2:1
What play style do you prefer?
I solo quite a lot b/c I play odd hours of short duration. Love to team, though. I have a hard time playing strict damage-dealers. Prefer Tanks, MMs, Trollers, and Defenders: they make me feel as if I'm actually 'doing something'.
What power set(s) do you favor?
For tanks I like primaries that I can set and forget. I don't like 'clicky' armors. Love Ill control. Any MM set. My Crab is my new fav.
What zones do you like the most?
Faultline, Croatoa, Nerva (even though it is too huge).
Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''? Primarily male, though I have a couple of high-lvl fems.
Views on Role Playing?
I am not a patient person, and trying to rp makes me impatient. I have met those totally immersed who can rp AND steamroll content at the same time, and greatly admire them. I tend to concentrate too much on busting heads to be able to rp effectively, but my vocab and 'tone' do change when I play some 'toons'.
Servers?
Primarily Virtue, but have 50s on 6 servers and the most 'toons' on Pinnacle: I tend to drink while playing (is Pin still the official 'drunk server'?) -
Awesome suggestions, people!
I worked up this build before I saw Milady's, and am reasonably happy with it. Traded some recharge for positional defense, but overall fairly similar.
A few more questions.
I picked up flares as a filler attack at 49, but don't know if I'll need it?
Do the Microfilaments in Burn add +slow to mobs? (Can't tell from Mids.)
If I slot Tough with Reactive instead of Aegis, is that 1.3% to S/L going to make a huge difference? I know a bit about Def, and realize that it sort of scales the higher you get with it, but don't understand the particulars with the numbers.
I'm getting weird damage numbers in Hot Feet. Anyone know why?
Here's the build.
Thanks again!

Quote:Again, Blaster Noob here.I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to accomplish with this build. It seems to be all over the place.
You've taken all most all of your secondary powers which are melee heavy but haven't tried to softcap your S/L defense even though you took an Epic defense sheild.
You've taken Breath of Fire even though when in melee range you'll have trouble hitting more than 2 or 3 targets with a cone power.
You've skipped Rain of Fire which can be used at point black range as a PBAoE and the slow from Rain of Fire stacks with the slow in Hot Feet.
You've taken Blazing Aura. It is a pure end Hog that will burn through end like the government burns through tax money all the while doing virtually no damage because the avoid in Hot Feet will keep the mobs out of the pathetically small radius of Blazing Aura.
You've slotted Consume for End Mod but all you have to do is hit 5 targets total to fill your end bar from 0-100% without any End Mod at all. It should be slotted for Damage preferably with a set of Oblits.
Any suggestions for getting to the softcap? I didn't realize that Hotfeet would set mobs running, though I did know that Rain would, and wanted to try and avoid that. Thanks for the heads-up.
So there's no point in Blazing Aura because Hotfeet is the superior of the 2?
If I slot for more defense is it possible to keep the recharge bonuses high enough that Consume will be up frequently? The reason I ask is that Oblit and some others have barely any End reduction in the sets.
CONSTRUCTIVE criticism would be more helpful.
Thanks. -
Hidee Ho!
I've only run 2 blasters, one to 50, and that was an AR/Dev (which I know is an atypical couple of powersets). I'm wondering about mitigation, endurance problems even with consume, and about this attack chain.
Do I have enough recharge for a continuous chain?
I'll likely primarily team with him, as I think I'll need a tank to hold aggro with all the AoE.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I'm still having fun with the game, but don't want to know how much time I have invested (and REALLY don't want my wife to know!).
Even so, this thread made me think of the Simpson's Comic Store Guy who when about to be killed said something like "Oh, I've wasted my life...."
I know, I know. Not a waste if I'm having fun. I keep telling myself that, anyway. -
If you try to 'mouse-look' in other games and websites...
-
To the OP:
Much of the current mindset running rampant is that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure (or healing), meaning that sets that prevent or reduce incoming damage on the front end are more valuable than primarily reactive sets such as empathy.
That said, there has been a small resurgence of "Yay, I'm useful again" from Empaths due to the Keyes Incarnate Trial, in which healing is definitely of benefit in the current way most leaders run it.
Heal and blast and have fun. -
Don't forget ED, or Enhancement Diversification. Potentially the biggest playstyle change, but don't know what issue it came out with. Your old characters may be a bit gimp with enhancment slotting from ancient times.
Read about it and weep...
Oh, and WB! -
Why do people gripe so much, particularly on the boards?
To quote Minsc, "Squeeky wheel gets the kick!"
Well, sort of.... As has been stated previously I think it mostly attributable to players wanting their own pet peeves fixed NAO!plzthnxbye. -
-
Quote:This....not necessarily...Procs slotted in toggles have a chance to activate every 10 seconds. Though you will see some increase in overall damage putting procs in a damage aura, it's generally better off in a click attack.
If you are a melee player, which you probably are if you are taking BI in the first place, the particular proc has a 33% chance to fire on everyone in melee range hit by the power every 10 secs when you slot it in BI. Slotted in a click power, the proc only fires on the enemies you hit when you click. Therefore, if its a great big Area of Effect clickie like Footstomp you -might- get it to fire more often than in Blazing Inferno only if you can get Footstomp's recharge down below 10 seconds.
I like damage procs in my auras, personally, and likey the orange numbers going up automatically even more. YMMV, but I'd suggest you put that Armageddon in there. -
It really depends upon what you'd like to do with him...
The great thing about them is there are enough powers that you can go melee or AoE. What level is he? What content do you intend to do?
My current build is AoE with pets near-perma including PPP pet. I essentially have as many pets as a Mastermind, but do 2.5 to 3 times as much damage. I also have all Leadership and Training toggles. My goal is to create a melee build for my 2nd build, but so far I feel like I'm contributing to the iTrials. My current build cost about 500 million inf, but you can be effective for a lot less.
Again, where do you want to go? -
My only (semi-) useful comment is that you have a Lysosome in Divine Avalanche that isn't doing anything for you. They provide defense DEBUFF. You need a Cyto.
Cheers and good luck! -
I agree with Syntax 100%.
You could likely ditch both Leadership powers and one of your attacks to pick up boxing, tough, and weave (I would likely cut Chop). You could ditch 2 attacks if you plan to take ice blast.
If you could give some idea of your slotting, you might get more suggestions as well.
Active Defense probably only needs 2 recharge slots now that you're 40+. I would also pull a couple of slots out of Grant Cover. You can make them up later (or not). Against all odds really only benefits from end redux, and one is probably enough.
Download Mids' hero/villain designer if you don't have it, and poke around a bit in it. You should be able to come up with a relatively cheap build. -
It would be nice if they would make Orobouros a mini-trial zone for 50s: Do a flashback arc, and get threads with a chance for a component drop. Put the easy ones on a diminishing returns timer, maybe? Or something....
My main is a Stone tank, and near useless through 1/2 of Lambda without a Kin. Haven't even tried BAF yet. I know I'm way behind the curve, but can feel the frustration from league leaders. When I finally do the BAF I'm going to need some direction, but most leaders already assume that peeps know what they're doing and are tired of explaining.
I also have a busy RL and have to go AFK at a moment's notice. It makes participating in both teaming and timed missions very difficult. Consequently, I would appreciate solo content very much as long as it isn't ten times as grind-y as the current trials (is grindy a word?)

No, looking for suggestions for purchasing. -
Hey, all.
Back in the game after a short absence, and considering upgrading my desktop pc. I'm basically computer illiterate, and wondering if I can get some advice on hardware. Pc will be used primarily for surfing, running online classroom programs (D2L and Blackboard), and CoX.
I'm considering the following setup as a starter, with the intention of picking up a graphics card later this summer. I could use comments on both graphics and monitor. Sound is not that huge an issue, but might eventually want to play decent movies and other video on it. I should mention that I'm cheap, too ...
