  1. Fury was evident in Britanic's face. It was largely unknown, but the Militia sometimes made use of Twilight's abilities. The arrangement wasn't one Britanic was keen on but it was in place before he stepped in for Crimson Archer. However Twilight's little speech had just convinced Brit that Twilight's usefulness had come to an end.

"Damn it Twilight, if this is your attitude, you have no place at this meeting. If we are going to work together we need to know we can trust, and rely each other. Talk like your's undermines the very integrity of this council, and its decisions. I suggest you pick up those ridiculous halloween knock offs, and walk out that door now."
  2. "The sad fact is there are many who are going to use the invasion as a distraction from themselves, in order to commit their crimes. Thats why I have had the Militia come down hard on looters, profiteers, and other opportunist criminals. As well as fighting the Rikti it is important to show we are not too busy to deal the regular scum also."
  3. Sat in a mostly deserted corner of the room, Humanity First leader Partisan watched all those assembled. His brassy gold mask hiding his looks of contempt for the various mutants, alien's, and altered humans in the room. Despite his personal distaste at having to work alongside what he considered subhuman vermin, he'd wiilingly make that sacrifice to protect humanity. Besides, the fact many meta's wouldn't see out the war was a source of great satisfaction for him.
  4. Tues 8pm should be ok with me so you can pencil Brit(lvl50 DM/RGN Scrapper) in for the moment, assuming there is space.
  5. Britanic flashed Juni, and Tyger a stern look that said shup up, and blend with the scenery, before turning to Xander.

"Thank you Xander please can you convey to Zorielle, and the rest of the Unity Vigil our sincerest thanks for their efforts. Obviously any intelligence recieved from your resident Rikti should be made available to this council at the soonest opportunity. Lets hope something of use comes from that."

"Concerning the sewer sweep, depending on when it goes ahead, il endevour to either be aboard myself or send ther Militia operatives in my stead."

He then looked over to Tyger, and grinned.

"In fact I even have a possible candidate in mind should I be unavailable for any reason."
  6. Britanic turned back to Lunk.

"The girls are fine mate, although keeping track of Rachel is proving to be a bloody nightmare."

As Coile enters Brit gives him a nod.

"What's your handwriting like Lunk? I was hoping Mer'de would be here to keep the minutes, but I have had no contact with him for a few days now. Any luck he'll just surface during the meeting...Speaking of which, do you want to kick things off?"
  7. Britanic walked into the room. He was wearing a badly scorched KM-Tech PACS vest, with it's left shoulder pad was hanging off, and what appeared to be a shard from a Rikti sword was embedded in his shoulder. Britanic slumped into a chair next to Lunk, and winced as he pulled the metal from his flesh. Once it was free he threw the shard on the table, which landed with a clang. He then gripped his forehead fighting back the pain as his flesh started to knit back together.

After a moment or two the wound had healed, and Britanic moved his hand from his head. He then turned to Lunk, and smiled.

"Sorry about that but the Rikti were all over the Founders Fall entrance as I came in."

    Dead:

Mutant Speedster Fast Buck of the Paragon City Protectors was found dead, as the result of a bullet wound to the head. Though officially being treated as a friendly fire accident., there is suspicion of foul play among some officers.

    War Stories

    {28/07/07, Early Morning, Kings Row.}

The mutant speedster known as Fast Buck raced across the city carrying messages between PPD headquarters, and it’s various Kings Row precinct houses .Thanks to Rikti disruption of communications, be it through jamming, or damage, the demand for fast runners had rocketed. Buck was just returning to PPD HQ when the notoriously unlucky mutant got thrown another curve ball.

Buck had just ran out of an alleyway when he was suddenly surrounded by a volley of plasma fire. He flicked his head from side to side catching a glimpse of a large Rikti force advancing on his right, while a contingent of black clad soldiers traded fire from their defensive positions behind a ruined car barricade. Wasting no more time, Buck sprinted towards the soldiers, leaping, then sliding across the bonnet of one of the cars, before dropping down behind it amongst the soldiers.

Breathing heavy, Fast Buck started talking as he started looking up at the black clad soldiers.

“Oh man I don’t want to keep doing that especially with the Medi Com down at th...”

As Buck’s gaze had got to the men’s chests he immediately recognised the gold coloured Vitruvian symbol emblazoned there. Once he got to their faces he was under no doubt that he’d landed amongst a number of Humanity First Blackshirts, and their brassy golden masked leader Partisan.

*Gulp!* "Wow Partisan...Damn lucky we are on the same side at the moment."

Partisan gazed down at the nervous but grinning hero. Catching the naive Buck completely by surprise Partisan lifted his pistol murdering the hapless mutant with a single shot to the head.

Several of the Blackshirts closest stopped firing at the Rikti, and looked to Partisan. His mask betraying no emotion, he looked back at his troops.

“That gentlemen is what you call opportunity fire.”

The Blackshirt known as Street spoke out. “Bu..but sir, what about the truce?”

Partisan turned to stare directly at Street. “I entered into the truce for our protection...not their’s.”

The Blackshirts looked at their cold blooded leader with shock.

Partisan spoke again in a calmness ill fitting the current situation. “I suggest you spend less time worrying about my activities, and more about their’s.”

The Blackshirts looked back just as the Rikti once again tried advancing up the street. Paying no further attention to the dead mutant, or their murderous leader, they returned to trading fire with the Rikti...

    War experiences

    Events:

Big Game has captured a Rikti Commander, at the behest of EVIL colleague Dr. Helios, using a combination of sonic grenades, and a baseball bat.

    Dead:

Former Ultimate Soviet winged mutant hero Sturmovik was killed after being vaporised by Rikti destroyer fire.
  11. "I have to agree, in the past I have helped protect such people from this indoctrination process. Also, through my daughter Rachel, I have atleast a cordial relationship with some of the Lost in the Row. I don't think we can shove all the Lost under the heading of the enemy, but rather we take them on an individual basis. I do suggest we make a special effort to observe Lost activity, as the Rikti may be able to exert psionic influence over the more mutated among them."
  12. Britanic broke into a smile as a message from his fiance' White Vampyr finally got through to him. That one bit of news lifted a great weight off his mind, and he was once again able to turn his attention to the meeting.

He then looked to the newcomer who was now biting his lip after his little speech, and then smiled as he spoke.

"Ok everybody, let's take a moment to recap here..."

"First off we have a truce in effect. Time for us all to put grudges aside for a while."

"Second we have Lunk's gracious offer to help kit out those who's interested in his PACS combat vests. If anybody else can assist with the supply of effective weaponry, defenses, or equipment, then your contribution will be greatly appreciated."

"Third that we need to consider doing this on a regular basis, that way we can all keep up to date on the development of tactics, technology, or anything else that is deemed of importance to the war effort. Also as my Militia comrade Mer'de suggested we need somebody to keep the minutes...thanks for volunteering Mer'de...and some sort of identity for this council, be it his suggestion of Terra Refragatio, or anything else that might get suggested."

"It was also mentioned about possibly arranging the release of Zig detainees who may benefit the war effort. As this council has no official legal standing, im not sure how serious this request would taken by the authorities. However Lunk did mention about tagging, and im thinking what about if we can get an agreement to use those BRMC chips the MYRS project uses. it may inspire a little more confidence from the authorities."
  13. Britanic lifted his hand. He stared daggers to Partisan as he spoke."Obviously im in. Il do my utmost to keep this truce alive no matter how reprehensible I may feel some parties are."

Partisan smiled under his mask as he raised his mechanical arm. "Indeed, both for the glory, and survial of Humanity, il bind myself to this truce."

<...as long as opportunity doesn't present itself of course.> Partisan mentally added.
  14. Britanic let slip a smile. He had been working to try improve Militia relations with othergroups in Paragon's hero community, but a number of event's had soured things between the Militia, and the Silent Tempest. Perhaps working together now would repair that damage also.

There was a slow clap of a pair a hands. Britanic turned to see who it was, and his face dropped immediately.

Stepping away from a shadowed area of the room was a black clad man, wearing a metal brassy gold mask, a simplified version of DaVinci's vitruvian was emblazoned on his chest. Britanic, as well as some others in the room would recognise him as Partisan, leader of the human supremacist terror group Humanity First

"Excellent! Isn't it wonderful that we can all pull together in this hour of need. I would like to make a pledge of my own in support of this monumental cooperative."

Partisan stared around the room smirking under his mask.

"I pledge that for the duration of hostilities with the Rikti I will suspend all Humanity First activities against the metahuman poulace. For a while you may all sleep easy as I turn my Blackshirt's attention to dealing with the invading menace."
  15. Britanic looked at the spec's on the armour.

<God, I hope Ben doesnt think he's going to get me into one of them.>

"Hmm maybe I can speak to the CEO's of Iron Forge, and Armourworks, two of Paragon's premiere defense manufacturers and see if they will agree to the assembling of PACS vests in Paragon."

"A sharing of equipment, and technology. It's a good start but we need something more meaningful. I was thinking some sort of non-aggression pact, a sort of truce in contested zones, so we can all defeat this menace together."
  16. While Mer'de gave his speech, Britanic looked to Zortel. The more casual observer may have thought Zortel was talking about profiteers, and looter's, but Britanic knew she was talking about possible murderers, or rather one in particular.

Although the Militia had already made arrangements to deal with that particular internal problem, numerous events as well as the invasion itself had put a spanner in those works.

Putting the incident out of his mind for the moment, and looking to the crowd, he tryed to read their reactions just as Mer'de finished his speech.
  17. "For myself, ive got Sentinel Industries on alert to repair essential facilities, roads, and bridges. As for the Militia who im also representing here, we have managed to establish a crisis center at HQ, and I got people protecting, or coordinating emergency services. While this sort of activity will help in the short term. We need to start looking at the long haul, and how we are going to win this war."

"If we want to push the Rikti out then we need to think about putting aside differences, and helping each other out. The Rikti are not discriminating who they are going after, so I think we should start thinking the same way about who we are working with. The last Rikti war devastated the metahuman populace, im pretty sure nobody here wants that to happen again."

    IC rumours

"Great as if life wasn't bad enough round here, now we got Rikti rampaging too."

    "Hey it could be worse."

"What the hell you on about, how could it get any worse than it is now?"

"You could be who ever stole Consigliere Morretti's dead son's burial suit."

    "You what?"

"Some guy broke into an undertaker's in Mercy and stole a custom made Italian suit that Frederico Morretti, who got gunned down last week, was due to be buried in. Apparently the suit had only been delivered half an hour earlier. It had not even been removed from its packaging, who ever took it stole a bunch of flowers too."

*Chuckles* "Sounds like someone had a date then."

"Yeah but now the Family are up in arms about it, you know how crazy they get about being direspected, and honour, and all that ***p."

"Yeah, I guess whoever did it better hope the Rikti get him first."

    War Stories

    {Zero Hour, Rikti Invasion II, Dr.Mechano’s house, Mercy Island}

Big Game snoozed away in the hammock he’d set up outside Dr.Mechano’s place, his face covered by his wide brimmed hat. A sudden massive explosion, and groundquake flipped Big Game’s hammock, and dumped him unceremoniously onto the floor.

“For **** sake Mechano!...You better be dead, or il freakin’ kill you myself.” Game said as he pulled himself off the ground dusting himself off with his hat.

He was about to go tearing into the house, to see if Mechano, had finally killed himself with one of his experiments, when he noticed the screams, and the tell tale sounds, of plasma fire. He turned around in time to see several of Mercy Island’s citizens being chased down the street by a horde of Rikti.

    “Awww ***p, im gonna die!”

Game bent down, picked up, and then shouldered his rifle. He then started firing at the advancing Rikti, taking several out with well placed head shot’s. However for every one he killed, another seemed to advance in it’s place.

    “***p this ain’t working!...What would McGyver do?”

Almost as if saying aloud the name of his favourite TV character, had conjured some ingenious plan in his head, Game was hit with inspiration.

He loaded a grenade into the rifle’s launcher chamber, and fired it at one of the supporting legs of a huge water tower on top of one of the buildings lining the street. The wooden leg then turned into matchstick like splinters that flew in all directions. The water tower then crashed down the side of the building spilling tonnes of stored water down into the street, taking a large group of Rikti invaders straight off their feet. Wasting no time to bask in his own victory, Game took a few well placed shots at some electrical cables hanging over the street. The cables fell into the water, sparking and spluttering, as they electrified the deluge. Over a dozen Rikti spasmed as electricity coursed through them.

Big Game punched the air in celebration. “OOOOHHHH YEEEAAHHH!!! take that you freakin’ ugly **s bullet bait.

Game’s celebration was cut short as a volley of plasma fire, impacted around him.

<What would McGyver do? He’d freakin run!!!” Game thought as he legged it to safety...
  20. It was obvious Britanic was worried sick. As he spoke to Lunk he would stop and stare as each new arrival entered the room. The Rikti bombing had been causing havoc with communications, and he had not yet been able to raise his fiance' Suzi White, or anybody from his own group the Paragon City Protectors. Luckily his current command, the Militia, were mostly accounted for. He silently prayed everybody still missing were ok.

The fact Big lunk's message to Brit about a council of war got through at all was a miracle in itself, and since recieving it he'd worked tirelessly trying to get messages across the city to Paragon's various heroic groups.

Having done what he could to get the word out, all he could do now was wait for arrivals and help chair this council with his good friend Big Lunk.

    War Stories

    {Zero Hour, Rikti Invasion II, Wayne Tower, Founders Falls}

Britanic stared out of Wayne Tower looking to the sky. Rikti destroyers were raining down their lethal green fire onto Founder's Falls. The canals bubbled as superheated plasma hit the water. The ground shook with the impact of Rikti bombs.

<Oh my God, how could I have been so wrong. I ignored the warnings because I didn't trust the sources...>

Britanic remembered back to the last invasion, and how he avoided taking up the fight, due to his fear of his own mutant powers.

Britanic picked up the photograph of himself, Suzi, Cassidy, and Rachel, his glowing white eyes reflected back at him as if peering into his own soul.

<So what you going to do this time mate...run...hide...or fight?>

Britanic put the photo back onto the desk.

"Anna send an emergency transmission to all Militia personnel. Tell them this is a priority one recall. Have all personnel either report to HQ, their nearest PPD precinct house, Freedom Corps station, or the Vanguard base at the crash site."

Britanic started to run down towards the Militia control room, while still barking order's to the Militia base computer AI Anna, on his personal data device.

"Start establishing emergency links to the Military, and Emergency Services, and try raise The PCP on my own personal access code B1066."

Anna's monotone blurted out of Britanic's PDD.

<Emergency recall message sent, and on a 30 second repeat cycle.>

<External communication links with Emergency Services, and local Military Command established. However we are experiencing interference from Rikti jamming.>

<Currently unable to establish communications with the Paragon City Protectors>

Anna's last message stabbed at Britanic's heart, but he knew he had no time to dwell on it.

    "Ok Anna, keep trying."

As Britanic got to the control room he pulled out his mobile phone. He looked down at the screen in vain hope, but as he expected no network signal.

<God I hope Suzi, and the girls are ok.>

Running over to the base computer's he set to work tracking down both his comrades, and invasion hotspots...

“So what Tracey. This place is full of murdering creeps like that.”

“Yeah, but he is supposed to be one of the heroes. Calls himself Silver, or something. I heard him say they were getting what they deserve, but that ain’t really up to him to decide ain’t it?

    IC rumours

News broadcast on the Paragon Radio Network, later followed by similar statements on other radio stations, local TV news, as well as the next day's papers.

"It would seem that it has been erroneously reported that respected Paragon hero Britanic had abandoned championing his adopted city, and taken to a life of crime."

"Britanic gave himself up to the Paragon Police Department in Founders Falls to correct what he called a "gross misunderstanding." Shortly after giving himself up, representitives from the Paragon supergroup the Militia, where Britanic is temporarily serving as a field commander, are said to have supplied irrefutable evidence of his innocence."

"Britanic has since been released without charge, and is now investigating what appears to be an imposter running around the city."

"When questioned by ourselves on the matter Britanic had this to say..."

"This isn't the first time this sort of mistaken Identity has caused me bloody grief. Whoever this clown is he has right royaly [bleep]ed me off. Im really not in the bloody mood for this sort of nonesence, especially from some second rate phony, with dodgy fashion sense. Be assured who ever this bloke is he will making number plates, or stitching mail sacks before long."

"A PPD spokesman on the matter had this to say..."

"We are happy to accept that Britanic is in no way involved with this case, and would like thank both him, and the Militia for their cooperation with matter."

"The PPD will continue their investigation..."

Was a good night. Got to speak to people I wouldn't normally, dress like Harry Potter, and see Big Lunk in Lycra(the thought of it riding up kept me awake all night...the horror! ). Thanks to all involved for making us feel welcome.
