put 5 enchancements from the Thunderstrike set in it and then just watch it go. I think Hurl is a cool attack.
-
What is wrong with Hurl?
Its one of the only ranged attacks in the Tanker secondaries, it does a big chunk of damage if slotted correctly. Drops flying enemies out of the air. Can knock a foe back... useful if you are wanting to come to the aid of a squishy teammate. Can be used with taunt to strategically pull the enemies.
The only downside is the time it takes to do the attack, but its not THAT much slower to execuste than KO blow. Plus if you're using invulnerability, there isn't really going to be a problem with it being interrupted.
Hurl seems to be getting a bit of short change here guys. -
Hey guys, just made a new blaster today and quickly leveled him to 4, just wondering if I could ask the advice of you blastery people for a sample build per chance?
Basically money is an object, so he'll have to be an SO build with scope for invention origin sets earning them as I go.
Im going to be taking hover so I can stay out of melee range, I shall also be investing in manouvres too so that I can tweak some extra defence for myself there.
But and sample mids builds with the scope and slots to progress to IO sets is appreciated as I know very very little about a good blaster. -
Gravity Control is a late bloomer for sure, but once you got the key powers from then on, its great. I have no complaints with my Grav/Energy dom, she kicks butt.

I kept the original jab on my guy I love the swing to the ribs. Reminds me of when the Hulk fought Juggernaut in Hulk 404, he delivered a jab very reminiscent.
I changed the punch as that looked much better with the alternate than the original IMO.
Haymaker I kept the same as it looked cool to just deliver a double overhead slam
KO BLow, I changed that because yeah, it reminded me of Optimus Prime's shot to Megatron. Good call Johnny.
Footstomp, was tempted with the punch, but, its called "footstomp" so me being that anal, couldn't conceive of a ground punch. -

I also survived... not many american BellicoseBumpkins it seems. :-)
Though, I also am informally known as "Blue" these days. -
I teamed with a stalker this morning on my evil invul / SS tank, and I jabbed his target before he did assassin strike, and though the mobs were +2 to us, they were being one and two shotted as a result.
We were churning through mobs like nobody's business. -

You're all a bunch of hoaxers! I'll never believe you without photographic proof. And even if you do bring photographic proof, I'll just say its photoshopped, so Ive got you there too.
Desdemona is the tooth fairy of CoX and that's the bottom line because some bald guy said so. -
Has anybody had ANY kind of interaction with her in game at all? I have looked for her in a variety of different missions and locales, and can't find her.
Is she a mythical, pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, loch ness monster character or something? -
I love tanks, and I tried a stone tank once upon a time before I switched to invulnerability.
Ive seen stone tanks in action and they can take an unmerciful pounding from a variety of different damage types. The problem is all the penalties you need to overcome. Like in Granite mode, you become less accurate (I can understand that) and do less damage (That I can't understand)
The slowness, I can understand, but its really bad unless you load out for extra speed.
If Invulnerability did not have such low resistance to fire, cold, toxic, energy and negative. It would probably be, hands down, THE best protective powerset in the entire game for any purpose. Most invulnerable tanks even with cardiac and a few set bonuses can only hope for 35 to 38% resistance to those exotic types. Which I understand as if those were even 45% you wouldn't need any other protective set on your brutes/tankers/scrappers would you? But you can get round that with Defence to the exotics, even now my defence to a variety of attacks is absolutely enormous and Im not done with IO's yet. And when you factor Invincibility into the mix... what I get used to seeing now is.. deflected, deflected, deflected... etc. LOL -
Quote:As somebody who works probably 3 weekends a month in a row I may add, I don't suppose coming in to work on a weekend is a big deal in my respects so I'd be inclined to agree. But, if you are in a job where you don't have to work weekends not even one a month, and give up your down time... Then frankly, I can't blame the developers there. Screw working on a weekend. And they can't do it on the weekend? I know if I worked for the company and my boss asked me to come in and unleash giant robotic killing machines on the hero and villain populations I would happily do it for free.
But the 3 hour window sucks, I don't RP in my characters much, one or two get some RPing out of me, but most no. However, I was thinking that this would be a cool event to run. I sort of expected it'd work like the halloween stuff, but, I guess not. Ah well, maybe next time. Bit gutting to the peeps who were REALLY anticipating. -
If you were anything but Invulnerability or Willpower, Hand Clap could well come in handy (pardon the pun) at some point.
I used it on my Tanker in the early goings it was useful to buy some breathing room to pop in some inspirations if my health was wearing down, but once I got footstomp, I just respec'd handclap away. -

The scarred and battered looking skin on the Carnies Strongmen would be awesome to have on your player characters for that violently strong look.
-
You know the Carnies have got their strongmen, bronze, iron etc... I love their skin, I have a character who is a disfigured clone of another character. And their scarred and messed up looking skin would fit him great, it'd be absoultely grand if that was an available option in the costume editor.

I have 10 heroes and 5 villains.
Only one level 50. A hero Tanker. I have unlocked the alpha slot and have began my long router to the incarnate. But... I won't be making ALL my characters incarnate, because, well, I probably would never make a new character else.
My level 50 tank, while he is well spec'd, and can solo most things at x4 or 5 depending on whats in the mission, is still not finished with the actual ordinary IO sets enhancements, truthfully, I don't want to grind him through trials and what not to get it all, Im quite happy to take my time and do it gradually. I have other characters I want to power through to 50, so at the moment, my main guy is relegated to 5 tips a day and a morality on the 2nd day, and if I get incarnate goodies doing them... its a bonus, but before I start grinding the hard stuff I want all the IO sets in and slotted before I do that.
In the meantime, I got another char I want to jump thru to 50 and she, I really want to play the hell out of in the incarnate stuff becuase her story fits the incarnate stuff like a glove!! -
I pretty much took it that the incarnate content was a way of turning a player created character, into a signature hero, or signature villain depending on ones stance.
Probably will happen, once your character is then at that signature level, you are then complete. Go back, do another.
(Im hoping to get me first lvl 50 tonight.) -
Quote:Well so far the Influence I have spent on my tanker for IO sets has been negligable at best. The bulk of the cost comes from actually crafting the enhancement.Just a quick reply to this part...
10 Million influence is a small drop in the bucket when your looking at fully IOed out biulds.
My Main Tanker is literaly a 15 Billion Influence Biuld. I have 2 IOs that cost 2 Bil+ each.
My Advice is to take it slow with the biuld.
Fill the biuld out with what you can (SOs, Generic IOs etc). Use downgrade IO sets while you save up for the final sets. (Positrons blast in place of Ragnarok, Smashing Haymaker in place of Kinetic are great examples).
Everything you do to improve your toon, makes it that much easyer to gain rewards faster.
Even if you dont play the market (which I dont) you can biuld up some pretty impressive Influence totals just by selling what you get, and doing your Alightment missions, and TFs for Merits.
To many time I see and hear people scared off from the IO system due to sticker shock, never realizeing its really not that bad. if you start small and work your way up. (this coming from a causal player, with Atlitus).
PS - Avoid Purple sets... #1 mistake I see so many people do when planning out a Biuld for thier toon. Purples % wise arn't that much better then other sets, but cost 100 times more then the cheaper set. Purple sets really are only for squeezeing every last ounce out of a biuld when you have the cash to do it.
I always plan my biulds in 3 phase sets. Phase 1... the working biuld. Phase 2... after I have a working biuld thats solid, I see were I can refine it some more after playing around with Phase 1 for a bit. Phase 3 is were the Purples sets replace certain sets.... to date 99% of my toons never reach phase 3. Because of Cost vs effectiveness.
I have used alignment merits, and most recipes I have picked up in Wentworths for what I consider, reasonable cost. IE under 7 figures. More than that I will not. Not when I can earn them and actually enjoy playing my character.
To give and idea, I have:
4 red fortune enhancements. Used 3 times.
4 Makos bite enhancements. used once.
2 Pounding slugfests. Used once.
4 doctored wounds. used once.
3 doctored wounds. used twice.
3 efficacy adpators. used twice.
5 Thunderstrikes. used once.
6 Obliterations. Used once.
Im not finished yet either, I use my hero and reward merits. Im looking to upgrade to Numina's convalesence instead of Doctored wounds, but for now it suffices because with the current prices on the auctions and my limited inf / resources to spend, it was the best I could afford for now.
He's turned into quite the smackdown machine. Generally I just use the Paragon wiki, look at the bonuses and decide which set fits best. Naturally Im trying to acheive a good build, but I want a tanker that can serve up some smackdown as well as take it back. So far its going ok. I just need more time and then when I have the resources, I'll maybe change again. Or perhaps consider so called (Frankenslotting)
For now though, seeing the theory in Mids, turned into reality. Is just darned beautiful. One more level to 50 too! -
Im gonna be boring and carry on as normal.
-
Well it looked like a solo effort to me.
I do kinda see the point about the summoned clockwork... kinda... but, ultimately... it was JUST the tank. -
The scary part is, I actually have a character about to hit 50.
So unless the trials and other incarnatey post 50 stuff pays MONSTER inf, it will probably realistically be a grind, a grind and some more grinding!
LOL -
Quote:400 mil?20 mil isnt that bad compared to the 400 mil thats required for a very rare incarnate component lol
(or if you buy the 4 rares needed for it, then 800 mil lol)
If I was to pool ALL the inf, from ALL my characters. At a push, I'd maybe have about 180 million inf.
Im not going to be having any success with incarnates this year, am I?
