  1. All melee sets suck against Vahzilok. It's the faction I fear the most throughout the 1-50 game when I'm a meleer.
  2. They fixed that bug long ago.
  3. I recommend replacing a heal in Reconstruction for a recharge. Other than that I can't help you much, you shouldn't be having much problems with that build. /Regen is the strongest secondary at low levels. Maybe the game is just harder than it was when you last played and you're just weak compared to what you was, not compared to other characters now.
  4. Probably an old video from when Giant Monsters didn't scale and were wimps. I've duod the clockwork monster who's name eludes me right now with an Ice/Axe tanker and an Illusion/Storm controller at level 22 or something I think. It was a long time ago.
  5. You should never wait for people unless you don't have enough people to handle the start of the mission. They don't gain anything from you waiting while you lose something having to wait.

As for no travel powers, Raptor Pack + Hurdle has decent speed. There's also a lot of people who live in AE, which means they only travel inside missions and between AE and the trainer (and possibly wentworths).

That said, I'd never go without Super Speed, even if I only traveled inside missions. It increases my XP/inf/whatever per minute more than any other power. This is true mostly because I don't farm in any way, shape or form.
  6. 1. Snipes suck. It has the lowest DPA, freezes you in place for close to five seconds, is interruptable and really provides nothing. Well, it can serve as a set mule, there's some awesome and cheap sets for them.

    2. You want Snap Shot, you won't have an attack chain without it. It's also a good attack.
  7. Aid Self will increase your survivability by more than Tough/Weave, but it will reduce your offense as well due to the very long activation time. The interruption isn't an issue in my opinion, my /Elec Brute had no problems firing it off and it barely had defense at all.

If you want I could do the math and see the difference if you give me your current numbers (mid's build or just defense, resist and regen numbers).
  8. I ask to be SBed whenever we start a mission and the Kin hasn't done it, then I remind that player whenever it drops. The first is to let them know I want it, many Kins for some reason assume people don't. The second is to let them know that it's dropped so they don't have to pay attention to buff icons. As has been said, it's an amazing buff and should be applied whenever possible (you can add easier lineup of melee cones to the list of good things).

If you don't like reapplying SB then don't play a kinetic or atleast don't take the power. This is my approach, I don't play any sets that needs to reapply buffs because I find it too annoying. Doing anything less than your best on a team is just rude, in my opinion.
  9. They're a bit squishy for IO'd out builds in my opinion.
  10. It's actually more efficient to take the damage aura and just stand there watching them slowly drop than using attacks if I remember the math right. Still, I avoid them as well since there's no fun in just standing there.
  11. Regen handles the spikes better since it can react to it, which is why /Willpower gets the most favorable score. As for /regen having a hard time beating that score, try comparing the SO builds. /Regen will be the clear winner. It's not as easy to improve as the other secondaries though, since regen suffers from diminishing returns, while defense and resistance improves as you get more.

I think Abyssal Seraphim would score a lowly 1736 on your scale. That's not counting AAO though, I couldn't quite decide on how to account for that. So the score is somewhere between 1736 and 1877. That's skipping Tough for you.

Which brings me to another question, how do you split the damage types and positions?
  12. I personally use 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes and infinite to see how well it can take burst damage as well. Werners numbers will give regen sets a much higher rating that it deserves in my opinion, Willpower in particular.
  13. He does have a point, against mobs with really high accuracy the resist capped brute takes less damage than the defense capped brute, in all other cases they take the same amount. The cutoff point is 90% accuracy. This due to the 95% toHit cap. I'm not sure what kind of accuracy AVs have though, I think it's less.
  14. I personally found CE invaluable at low levels. It meant I could actually tank. As for staying alive it wasn't a problem with some support. It's not hard softcapping your defense at level 15 in a big team, odds are someone can top you off. CE gave me less end issues since I could just stand around doing nothing and still be one of the most useful people in the group.
  15. 70% of the damage in this game is S/L. Not having high resistances for other types isn't very important. Your high defenses should take care of it. If you're still worried, get some IO sets that boosts your defenses, as well as Combat Jumping.
  16. I think you got your numbers wrong there, Nihili. The regen rate should be higher if you account for the fact that LR can miss. The regen rate should be:

Reduces regen rate by 127.8125-35.79=92.0225 95% of the time, meaning it reduces regen rate by 87.42 on average. That gives a regen rate of 127.8125-87.42=40.39. So the DPS is:

    38343.75 / 335 + 40.39 = 154.85 DPS

I have no idea what resistance you're talking about.

Kruunch, I think your problem here is that you don' t really realize how powerful IO sets bonuses are. I get a 20% defense bonus to all positions from those, that's like having a personal bubbler. I've got over 2k hit points, that's more than a base Tanker. Lastly, if you count Siphon Life as regeneration (it pretty much is) I regenerate 78 HP per second, comparable to a willpower Tanker with 7 mobs in RttC.

An IO'd out Tanker puts my scrapper to shame. But one with SO's is a wimp compared him.
  18. I've done it in 5 minute 2 seconds with DM/SD. That's 255 DPS.
  19. Meh, I've gots to make that survivability guide I've always intended just so I don't have to write the same thing over and over again.

How about this. Slotting +regen isn't stupid, slotting specifically for +regen is. Now I'll shut up. If you don't believe me and is too lazy to do the math, then that's your choice.

*) Soft capped defense to deal with most of the damage - Check
*) Preferably strong def resistance to handle Romulus's debuffs -Check
*) A periodic self heal (or strong enough regen) to handle the auto-hit Nictus (namely Siphon Life / Aid Self) -Check

Mind telling me how you did it if you'd be so kind?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Resurgences. And the occasional jumping away to SL an innocent bystander before getting back into melee. He also dropped rather quickly. But inspirations can take you a looooong way in this game.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I would say the worst thing to slot for would be +mez resistance. :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, atleast then you'd have a gimmick. Slotting +regen is just stupid.

    [ QUOTE ]
It's not the worst thing to slot towards and is usually tied with +HP set bonuses.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It isn't tied with +HP set bonuses. Increasing HP increases survivability by the exact same amount for all sets, regardless of mitigation type. +10% HP increases survivability by 10% for everyone. The exception is of course if you already have +HP from other sources, like all bonuses it suffers from diminishing returns.

My SD scrapper can tank Rommie without support. It's not that hard. An SD tanker should be able to do it easily if built well.

That said, Invulnerability is a lot more survivable, but it doesn't add much offense, which Shield Defense does.
  23. Slotting for +regen on a /Willpower brute is the worst you can do (actually slotting for it on a /Regen scrapper is the worst, but still). The +regen will not be noticable and will barely increase your survivability at all.
  24. I'd aim for typed defenses. The defense bonuses you get from sets are just that high. Secondarily aim for +HP.
  25. Yeah, BaB really outdid himself on that one.
