Quote:You could always take the presence pool, and start taunting the enemies to follow you over your traps. (Best done when there's a corner you can duck around to avoid their ranged attacks.)I can't tell if I'm playing Traps wrong or if it's just not my flavor of powerset. It just feels like I have absolutely nothing to do after I've used all the powers once, except stand there and watch my pets/teammates do stuff, which is just dull. I may get to lay another Trip Mine every now and then after standing around long enough, but that's about it.
Quote:It's enough to almost make me consider taking the damn Pulse Rifle attacks just to have something to do while stuff is recharging. And anyone who remembers me from ~half a year ago will know I'm strongly against MMs taking personal attacks, so that's saying something.
The fact that Robotics is the most dull primary to boot doesn't help, but my main problem is still with Traps. Any tips on how to keep myself from falling asleep in combat after using every power once in the beginning? -
Quote:The advantage of smashing/lethal defense (instead of smashing/lethal resistance) is that if an attack deals multiple types of damage, and any of it's side damage types is smashing/lethal, then the whole attack is considered a smashing/lethal attack. .....But I'm getting the impression that mace is too modern for your theme.Web grenade wont stop my idiot henchmen from knockbacking the enemies, though, will it? Besides, much as youd never know it from the forums, not everythingdoes Smashing/Lethal damage.
A serious advantage with Zombies is that most of your attacks (and almost all of your henchmens' ranged attacks) debuff the enemy's attack bonus, making it harder for them to hit you. So, if you're planning to be a tankermind, then zombies is almost certainly the better set for you. -
It's got a few other situational advantages. Between your base power and antidote, you can buff your teammates up to 30% toxic resistance without enhancing. That's always nice. Might make you a key player on some Strike Forces. It also allows you to slot procs that are usually reserved for damage resist powers very early on.
I'd admit I usually don't take more than a couple actual poison powers, though, preferring to use the slots for pools instead. -
Quote:You mean other than personal force field? (Virtually guaranteed survival mode) The knock back power is also nice if a single enemy decides to focus in on your MM. Just keep them knocked down and they won't be able to kill you.Any MM is an excellent soloer, of course, but your best bets will probably come through any combination of Bots or Thugs and Traps or Dark. FF also factors in, but reports are that it tends to be boring, and unlike Traps and Dark, FF doesn't really have any tools to make things die faster or pull you out of a fire if your defence fails you for some reason.
So, Bots or Thugs, Traps or Dark. Any combo.
My all time favorite for solo was my Thugs/FF. Between the enforcers' Tactics power, and all my force fields, my thugs were constantly at the 45% soft cap. That means my Brute could get his fury built up all the way to the top and just keep cruising through enemies.
On teams, the build really sucked, though, because it's just crazy tedious trying to keep 13 force fields up on everybody all the time, and it's hard to keep the thugs close together when you're on a team with other players (if they run outside the Enforcers' radius, they suddenly drop down to like 20% defense and then it's possible for them to die.) -
Quote:I'm guessing you must have watched "The Lightning Thief" as well?I agree with you there..if they did an exact water powerset your computer would implode. Still though I love water abilities...you rarely even see it in anime or video games and if you do they are weak....which is Ironic because water is a universal solvent and it teh eleetz.
Yeah. Water control would be really nice. What would the damage be primarily, smashing, cold, or toxic? -
Couldn't they solve the problem just by making the female minions hideously ugly, or so respectfully dressed that it would seem out of place?
With punks, especially, who says any of them are good looking. Maybe they're all big bertha types. -
Quote:Yeah, and I'm guessing your opponent will simply drop out of phase to avoid letting you kill them. Do most PvP'ers use the temp power version, or are there a lot of them who actually take the whole concealment set?Yeah, but it's kind of stupid to do because then you've wasted phase for when you actually need to use it defensively.
And another question: will phase shift allow you to kill an ice tank who's recharging in their block of ice? -
I'm pretty sure the Oni does more damage than the lich. However, the grave knights are better to have using their ranged powers than the ninja, because at least the grave knight's ranged powers debuff your enemies.
I skip the tier one pets on both sets, because they don't fit my style. If you're planning to attack with your own weapon, then the dark powers are much more damaging than the bow powers. At least they seem so. The advantage of bow powers is in accuracy, instead of damage. -
Quote:If you click the arrow button on the right hand side of the window with your pets' names on it, all the icons associated with the effects on your pets will be listed. There should be some purple ones associated with Enforcer leadership. If you right click on one of the purple ones, it will list what the effect is doing. I just logged on with my Thugs MM to be sure, and that's what I'm seeing.ahh, ya it's listed under combat attributes. I guess I assumed it would be more readily apparent; I haven't played in awhile so didn't think to look there. Thanks for the help.
Let me know if you have any trouble finding it. -
I'm just curious about this. If somebody else has phase shift, and you have it too, and they activate theirs. If you then activate yours, will you be able to attack them, because you are both phase shifted?

Quote:Shooting stuff out of her sleeve, or throwing globules at people seems to work pretty well for a ninja. I'm just avoiding the spitting powers.I went technology ultimately for my Mercs/Poison. But the animations for poison are generally awful. You shoot some stuff out your sleeve like a gun (paralytic poison) then barf out poison in another animations. Its just awful. I'm hoping the alternate animations now present eventually reach poison so its possible to theme without being totally garbage.
EDIT: of course, this will probably never happen since Poison is purely the realm of MM's. -
So, now I'm checking this out on wiki. Fluffy, Soul Extraction, and even one of the Storm Pets (Lightning Storm) all show up as not counting for "recharge intensive pet". This is so demoralizing... ;-(

edit: Checked in Mids, and Soul Extraction does allow recharge intensive.

Quote:I don't see how ninja would be any different. If you really want to change your play style using the storm set, you should try a primary that doesn't do melee, like merks, or maybe robots.I am looking for a controller type mastermind for group play mostly. I have played storm quite a lot on other toons and I did get a necro/storm to 32 before I deleted him? I have no idea why now, but I think I was just really bored by the necro set honestly. I have never got a ninja to the point where I got Oni though. I am wondering if Oni + storm would give me that feeling of more control. I have visions of snow storm or freezing rain + the Oni casting rain of fire on large groups of mobs. I would like feedback on these sets if anyone has got up to L32 with Ninja storm.
Merks have def debuff in most of their attacks, which is really sweet when you're trying to use gale on them, because it's virtually guaranteed to hit when you've debuffed their defense, plus you have a thematic justification to try out group fly. -
You know, I used to dress my female toons in reasonably tasteful outfits, but then guys online would always start thinking I was really a woman in RL and start getting ideas, and it ruined some friendships..... and it was awkward. It seems I make a very charismatic woman.
Now I dress them so they show as much skin as the concept will reasonably allow. Haven't had another problem since I started that policy.
However, I have an etiquette question: If I get invited into an all-girl SG, should I make a point of informing them as to my real life gender, or just go with it? I assume that they're inviting my toon. -
Quote:Yeah. I took the name "Sky Wraith" once on Pinnacle using a trial account so I could transfer some recipes for my other toons, then forgot to delete him. Then a month later I see a character named .SkyWraith, and I just felt soooo bad.. But what can I do? Should I re-activate the account just to free up a name? I can't even remember what account it was.Nothing personal, but they're not all that obvious because quite frankly... they suck
One man's trash... and that's the problem.
I'm not addressing the rest of this post specifically to you, but to the community in general.
I feel sorry for the new players when they buy Going Rogue: Thesaurus Edition.
If we can't implement Global Name Association soon, then at least provide a solid name wipe (ie every character that is less than level 50, and on an account that hasn't been paid for in at least 6 months gets a generic name, and a free rename token if they ever come back).
Let's face it, if you didn't pay your rent/mortgage for 6 months, how long would you get to keep "your" address? -
So, is there some kind of an agreement people in Closed Beta sign that prevents them from telling us about anything? I'm assuming that some of them have gotten to experience the glory of DS, but yet I see not a word about it posted anywhere on the forums.

Sweet!! Cause I really didn't want to do electric, but you have to stop the knockback if anyone's going to want to team at later levels. (Or so I am told)
-
Quote:I'd say never to put a proc enhancement on a defender. The slots are just too valuable to spare them. If you're going to put it anywhere, put it on the bottom tier bots. They've got room.I slotted mine as follows:
2x Def IOs
2x Sovereign Right - Resist Bonus & Acc/Dmg/End
2x Nucleolus HOs
I would concur with the previous poster, except I like to use three accuracies, because I seriously hate missing.
So:
3x Either Blood Mandate, or Commanding Presence Set of Accuracy/something
2x Defense Enhances
1x Heal -
Powers like bubbles are powers you take so other people will want to team with you. You get zero benefit out of them when you're alone. If one person takes them and another person doesn't, the one who took them deserves to be favored over the one who didn't.
TF's are hard anyway, and they take longer if you have morons with you. "Having fun" is only half the goal. The other half is to get merits, and maybe xp. It all happens faster, and is more enjoyable a ride if you've got a badass team.
Quote:Fine examples all, especially the emp who's using medicine instead of their own personal heal power, lol!!! I don't mind if people shift priorities, but a really bad build indicates a dumb player, which is what you're really trying to avoid when you build a team.Really? OK, since you like challenges, show us your Master ITF run with the following team makeup of concept & RP builds.
Team Leader: You, with whatever character you choose.
Brute: Any primary/SR secondary. Concept build that takes all attacks, and only the tier one SR power.
Defender: LOLHealorz. Empathy/Dark. Only heals from Empathy, no buffs. Plus medicine pool for extra healing goodness, only tier one Dark Blast, which can't be used since the player is RP'ing a pacifist.
Tank: Invulnerability/EM. Stamina-less build, so takes no toggle powers at all, only passive defense powers.
Masterminds (2): Petless Ninja/Pain.
I look forward to your results... -

I've noticed that every MM patron pool has an immobilize. Dark has Soul Tentacles, Leviathan has School of Sharks, and Mace has Web Envelope, but Electric Fences is the only one I've heard talked about as a way to keep robot henchmen from throwing the good guys all over the place.
Do the other ones not grant knock back protection? -
You can also try www.Redtomax.com it's very in depth about the numbers, but unfortunately hasn't been updated for a while. It has I-13 stats, but not up to I-16 yet.

It's so hard choosing what to sacrifice. BTW: Ninjas and Pirates hate each other, so you shouldn't do Captain Mako as your patron. It's a disgrace to your ninja-hood!!

This is from Wiki on Lord Recluse:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Recluse
Quote:It looks like it was a permanent attachment, at least in Lord Recluse's case.Physical changes also started appearing, with Stefan's eyes progressively beginning to have almost allergic reactions to bright light, and steadily growing red and burning with malevolence, a sign of his status as the evil god, Tartarus (also sometimes called Hades); his back, through Stefan's focused manipulation of his dark power, began developing a hump which later was used to house eight massive arachnid-like arms. Upon further enhancement, the arms were outfitted with super-strong steel claws, made from a fictional alloy called proto-steel. Completing his transformation, he became known as Lord Recluse, and Stefan Richter was no more.
