  1. Hi, I'm trying to get a build together that can hopefully get Permadom and softcapped S/L resists... but I can't get it to come together. I don't know the exact numbers required for Permadom, but I'm having trouble with it.

Are there any guides or builds that I can get some tips from?

    Build Advice

What with the influx of Staff Characters, I figured it would be the perfect time to make a Dual Blades/Energy Aura brute. Because I'm insane like that.

Here's the build, I'll have above softcapped S/L defenses, but I can't quite get Hasten or Melt Armor to perma. Any suggestions for improvements?

I knew he'd been here for awhile because he worked on Going Rogue before it was released and that was almost two years ago now. Didn't know he'd been working with them since '08, though.

Of course, I didn't think otherwise, people working on the game want it to be the best it can be.

    It's kind of a catch-22.

They take the time to work on PvP, we get less of these awesome powersets at a slower rate.

They keep working on the powersets at the rate they are, PvP stays kinda sucky.

Since people actually pay for powersets, and not for PvP, that gets the edge.

Actually, I doubt it. At least, not while they're churning out powersets at the rate they are.

Too much stuff on their plate, and PvP would be a whole plate in itself.

I dunno, how do Natural Human Heroes do it without a sword? Oh, that's right. They use their fists and feet. Natural weaponry. Who'd a thunk it?

Who says they'd get any set other than their own unique set or sets? The only animal PC set coming along is the Shapeshifter AT.

I'm not here to debate the feasibility of 4-Legged PC, because it's already coming.

I'm just here to say that wolves with swords in their mouths is a dumb idea, and there's no argument you can make, no video you can show, nothing you can do to change my mind. Because that is a dumb idea.

Also, resorting to personal insults? That's not really helping your case.
  7. I had an idea for a natural support powerset, since there weren't too many that could be natural, so maybe something based on Leadership maybe.

Rally - Click PBAoE, Team Heal (Minor), +Regen
You inspire your allies to keep fighting, this inspiration heals them slightly and gives them a moderate boost to their regeneration rate for awhile.

Reprimand - Ranged, Ally +Res(Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Fear, Confusion)
You shout at your ally, clearing their head of any status effect currently affecting them and leave them resistant to such effects for a long while.

    Tactical Maneuvers - PBAoE Toggle, +Def(All) (7.5%)
    Essentially Tactical Training: Maneuvers

    Tactical Assault - PBAoE Toggle, +DMG (15%), +Res(Taunt, Placate)
    Essentially Tactical Training: Assault

    Tactical Leadership - PBAoE Toggle, +ToHit, +Perception, +Res(Confuse, Terrorize)
    Essentially Tactical Training: Leadership

Intimidation - Click PBAoE, Foe Fear
You shout a powerful warcry, intimidating any enemy that happens to be standing near you.

Tactical Analysis - Opens up two PBAoE Toggles, only one can be used at a time
You can push your allies to either fight more carefully, increasing defenses at the cost of reduced damage and accuracy, or more recklessly, gaining increased accuracy and damage but allowing enemies to hit you easier.
    Aggressive Tactics - +DMG (15%), +ToHit (10%), -Def(All) (10%)
    Defensive Tactics - +Def(All) (10%), -ToHit (10%), -DMG (15%)

Forced March - PBAoE Toggle, +Rech, +RunSpeed, -Regen
You push your allies to fight faster, longer, and harder than they normally would, though the strain this puts on yourself and your allies is painful. You and your allies have increased recharge and run speed, at the cost of a reduced regeneration rate.

Decoy - Summon Decoy, Superior DMG(Fire/Lethal)
Summons a Decoy that taunts all enemies, upon destruction, it deals Superior damage to allies and enemies alike nearby.

    Last Stand - Click PBAoE, +Res(All), +END, +Recovery. After 2 Minutes, -END(Extreme), -Recovery, -Def
Make a final stand against your enemies, grants you and your allies a high resistance, endurance, and recovery buff for two minutes. After two minutes, your tired, thus drained of endurance, have a lowered recovery, and enemies have an easier time hitting you.

Gunblades, as stupid of an idea it is, is less ludicrous than dogs fighting with swords in their mouths. Even these non-existent specialty dog-swords.

As I've said before, I'm not against any shapeshifting AT. It's already coming, I don't particularly care. The thing is, the animals are going to fight naturally

If dogs get any weapon, it'd have to go with enhancing their natural fighting moves. Such as claws or stronger teeth or something to help them pounce. Not a sword being wielded by a mouth.
  9. Post it as many times as you want. Doesn't make it any less ludicrous/stupid.

Like I said, it's on the same level of ludicrous as Raiden swordfighting with his feet in a cutscene in MGS4. It just makes you facepalm because swordfights do not work that way.

Nah, Titan Weapons, for all the implausibility, is still able to be taken seriously. Look at FFVII. They had a giant sword using guy. And a wolf-cat-PC-thing. That didn't use a sword. If sword using animals are too crazy for an FF game, they're too crazy.

And, again, Darkstar, it's not about realism. It's that an animal, using a sword, is just downright stupid.

Now, I'm not against players using the animal model. The shapeshifter AT that was leaked shows it's apparently coming, but the animals are gonna be using natural weapons... not a sword.

  12. And all I gotta say is... so?

Even if humans have to train with swords, they're designed for humans.

That and having dogs run after things with swords in their mouth sounds incredibly facepalm worthy. About as ludicrous as that scene in MGS4 with people swordfighting with their feet.

Dogs need a weapon designed for dogs. Give 'em stronger claws, better teeth, whatever.

I think you might be on to something.

Weren't the devs just recently bragging about the new ability to make you able to use a toolbar of new powers while using a different model? They use it for the new personal story in the beta, I believe.

I think they might very well make a shapeshift power using that.

Edit: Heck, I think they mentioned thinking that they could maybe make a usable Powered Armor with it.
  16. If anything, Plant needs a nerf, or Mind a buff. Seeds of Confusion is -better- than the signature power of Mind, Mass Confusion. Same mag, 1/4 recharge, gotten much earlier, same duration, etc.
  17. Personally, I'd revamp the MMs in just a couple of ways. Make pets customizable, and rename the sets after the style of attack the pets use.

That and fixing the AI would make the class just about perfect.
  18. Maybe Manticore showing up just depends on whether you did SSA3 (or whichever other one has you fighting him) as a villain or not. Kinda makes sense.

    New ATIO proc

To be honest, I'd have rather had the Toxic DoT than the -DMG debuff. Throw the proc in Venom Grenade with the Toxic -Res? Yes please.

And for the record. 1 +5 and 1 +2 = one new none set IO, so for hasten, if you 2 slot it with level 50 recharges, and boost 1 to +5 and 1 to +2, have basically 3 slotted it.
Pretty much, I'm looking for a softcapped crab that still deals good damage without relying on the Alpha slot to boost either of them (I've already got Cardiac Boost in there). I don't have a problem running things at +1/x3 or more, except for having to use purples from time to time against DA enemies with their inherent ToHit buff.

And, yeah, I found that out about ATOs the hard way. I just wound up Frankenslotting both it and Bile Spray. I'd like to avoid having to rely on Spirit Shark, too, it's got 2x as long an activation time as channelgun/longfang, and even together they aren't quite fast enough to make a chain on their own, much less channelgun on it's own.
  21. So, I hit 50 last week, and I'm running around DA working on some other stuff, but I'm about to change my build again. I'm just a couple of points off softcap, waiting for Enhancement Converters to come out. But here's my new build plan:

I'm not sure if I can, but I'm going to see if I can slot both a catalyzed Superior ATO and an uncatalyzed Normal ATO (6-slotted in Venom, 5-Slotted in Suppression)

    How is it?

  23. Now that the Enhancement Converters are coming out with i22 and that PvP IOs are apparently considered purple (at least, that's what I've been told) and can be used for it. I think I may need to rework my build for the Gladiator Armor +3% Def IO
  24. It's been awhile, but I've been getting my crab up there. Lvl 39 atm. It's going well, I'm still going by my build so far, with some adjustments

Frenzy because it is a nice PBAoE and can be 6 slotted for melee defence. Omega Bomb because it is a good tanking tool.

With Omega Bomb, you can use the bomb to take the alpha strike or tank 2 spawns at once. Good, no?
I don't know if I'm going to be 6 or 5 slotting them, but I don't want Frenzy. I don't like that it's one of those AoEs you can start without anyone in it's range.

I had Frenzy before when I was just playing around on the crab while I was getting up to levels where I could actually start to make the build, and I missed with it half the time because of that.

I don't know about Omega Bomb, either. I'd like to get the pet, they can draw aggro and deal more damage over time than just the bomb, but I might wind up dropping it for something else, Leadership Maneuvers to free up some slots

Got one from the market, trying to get the other.

I'm not gonna be hover tanking. I was forced to do stuff like that in the earlier levels... it wasn't so fun. I droped Hover/Flight for CJ/SJ

Agility will boost your defence, recharge and end mod. You are sitting at about 3 eps and you are costing 1.2 eps, so end is unlikely to be a problem and because you are slotted for proc that give you end, the end reduction won't be so much. However, you do gain some defence which means you can unslot and move your slots around a little.

But if you go for cardiac, you will never have to worry about end ever. Even versus sappers and you will get some bonuses to resistance.
I'm thinking of trying for a third option, the Incarnate Recharge boost. To see how close I could push the pets to being perma while keeping softcapped defenses.
