Or how about this? I walk and let them fight each other. Then Cleopatra survives and turns out to not be a jerk. She recognises I helped her by not helping Washington and cuts me in on the deal. Everybody wins. Or I knock them both out, tie them up and appeal to their senses. Who knows, maybe I can turn Washington over to the resistance, or otherwise turn Cleo around to the Loyalist cause. How come Commander Shepard could always do that sort of thing, but I never get the chance to?

And even all that said, there IS a third side: The Syndicate. Cole's men have been trying to hunt them down for how long now and they've done a little damage to the organisation. Why bother with the Loyalists or the Resistance when the Syndicate have proven that they can take care of themselves, and both Tub Chi and Wu Yin offer to take care of me, too. Well, of course, deus ex machina says they have to work for the Resistance because the Syndicate don't exist as a faction, but if they did, this wouldn't be necessary. At all. The Syndicate wouldn't need to be working with the Resistance as a plot device to make their morality choices work if they actually had their own faction.

That this "can't" work is provably wrong and shortsighted, to boot. Once again - this works just fine with the Power arcs, as I've never been asked to make any hard choices so far. All of them were pretty straightforward. Furthermore, it very much "can" because it's a question of writing and storytelling. There are ways to talk around these limitations, provided Going Rogue's agenda doesn't get in the way.
I'm not saying that there can't be a third faction (that's likely what the Praetorian Epic Archetype is going to be) what I'm saying is that it would hurt the story as a whole if there was a less extreme (and thus less morally ambiguous) choice in the alignment missions.

It would turn it into what GG was saying it is now. A storyline with an obvious hero path, and make the story as a whole more black and white.

You can't have a test of faith when there's an easy out, that's simply refusing to deal with the hard choices.
  2. I think the next set of Booster Packs should be to get Vet Reward powers early, and to unlock existing sets/accolades early.

    Ex: The Cimerora Pack
Unlocks the Cimeroan Costume Sets (Costume and weapons/shield customization--including the Nictus Sword), account wide, from the start.
And, one of the accolade powers for free from the start.

The Vet Reward Pack, Year 1
All the Year 1 Vet Rewards, catches the account up for those years, meaning the next reward would be for 15 months, regardless of the previous amount.

The Vet Reward Pack, Year 2
As above, but it wouldn't catch the character up unless they were at Year 2 (when they reach it, they'd go straight to Year 3, meaning, it'd go from the 12 month reward to the 27 month reward)

    Etc.
  3. It's going to be humanoid. No devouired infected--at least, not without drastic changes (maybe have the devoured be a form--like the Nova/Dwarf from Kheldians)
  4. Well, you kind of are if you take Cleopatra's side and just don't kill Washington.

Having a middle of the road third choice option would pretty much break any and all dramatic tension.

These alignment choices are supposed to be tests of faith that shake your character to their very core. Do you side with the innocent cop who caught a Resistance spy who can get off on almost any charge due to their connections? Or do you side with the Resistance spy that helped you save a hospital but then tried to kill you to keep the fact that she's a spy a secret?

If you had a simple way out, it wouldn't be a test of faith

I say that they should have made the choices more drastic--that is, don't even leave the door open for people to think about a third choice.
  5. Picking a third option, wouldn't work. Not due to engine limitations, but it simply wouldn't work in the story.

You can't 'refuse to take sides' in an all-encompassing civil war without making everybody mad at you because you look like a sympathizer for the other side.

For example, in the Cleopatra/Washington scenario, you can't not pick a moderate choice, Washington would report you if you didn't kill him and you'd get hunted down as a Resistance spy regardless. And Cleopatra would likely send Marauder after you if you and Washington if you didn't kill her.

It's all or nothing in these stories, there is simple, obvious answer. It's supposed to be a hard choice.
  6. I've actually read a post around here of some crazy MM supposedly using Serum + Noxious Gas on their Commando to good effect.
  7. From the comments from the Devs at the New York Comic Con, it's likely they'll get an Epic AT at some point.
  8. This should probably be on the Bug board.
  9. Well, if you've got PA Perma, chances are the enemies'll be focusing on them and not you.
  10. More +Rech is never a bad thing. And, the Medicine pool would make the character more versatile, bringing it's weakest aspect, the single heal, up to a respectable level.
  11. If your really tight on slots and want to go an expensive route, pick up Concealment. Sure, Ill doesn't need it, but it does have three powers ripe for LotG, Stealth, Grant Invis, and Invis.

    That's 22.5% recharge right there.

Edit: And, Local Man, I'm not so sure about Assault. It's too End expensive, really. I'd recommend either Recall Friend, the Medicine pool to add on to Rad's Weak Heal so you can be an effective healer, or get some more APP/PPP powers.
  12. I've heard of some people, if they're in caves, especially if they're on a team in caves, will only summon the second and third tier of pets

    Fix the Pet AI

Well, it is possible to have it both ways, I think. What they should do is make pets more rigidly follow the GoTo command--that is, if you tell them to go somewhere, they won't move from that spot to go to Melee range, if possible..
  14. BenRGamer

    Fix the Pet AI

Seriously. Ever since i17 all the pets like to stay within punching of the enemy, regardless if they even have any melee attacks or not.

    Leg Accessories

Sashes are more waist accessories and not so much leg.
  16. Well, it's only specific sets that can use those... I still think they should let people put them on Acid Mortar in traps.
  17. I took my arc down for the moment as I'm revamping it based on some feedback.
  18. I took it down for the moment as for some reason it didn't save correctly the first few times I tried changing it.

I wound up changing the names of Gork/Mork to Scarlet/Indigo, respectively, from their hair color.

I changed the objectives to be like that, and I'll run through it on test later on.

To try to give the Sons of Cid a more coherent theme, I made their dialogue more Legion-ish ("We are Legion for we are many") that kinda feel. I want them to finish each others sentences in a hive-mind sort of thing. I don't want to make them look too robotic as that would kinda mess up the horror theme--these guys are perfectly normal looking right up until they attack, when they unveil a creepy red glow from the eyes. It particularly holds true on the civilians in the trap on the third mission, when all of the sudden in the middle of the fight, all of their eyes glow red and they start to fight you. I dunno how to make the player want to keep them around without ruing that surprise.

I may make the Lts or Bosses use Electric Armor instead of Invuln like usual, but I want to keep it at least somewhat subtle.

As for Billy, he doesn't know all that much, especially about Praetorians. Just that they're a pain. At least once in the original arc, he thinks it's over before it is (now with the added mission he thinks it's over twice--and even complains on the second time). He's the guy with the access to the information that connects all the pieces into the big picture--but he can't see it himself until the end.
  19. Well, if it's big enough, and they're certainly trying to make it look that way, it wouldn't surprise me if that's what they were waiting on.
  20. It's also good for personal defense for the tankermind.

    Ill/Rad Build

Actually, that's not entirely true. Mace Mastery is probably the best choice for a n APP/PPP for a Perma-PA build. It has a single target attack, Poisonous Ray, that has a -Res component as well as an AoE attack, two good defensive based shields to put an LotG in (for now, they'll probably replace PFF if they haven't already), and a pet. I think I'll switch to that one.

For the endurance problems, I was trying to save on slotting, but I could always take out some of the slots in Radiant Aura for it.

And, once i19 comes out I intend to replace Fitness with Fighting (and move Hasten/Fly up) to get some added def/res, and I'll replace the Flight in fly with Blessing of the Zephyr: Knockback Protection.

And, I also changed around Blind. I added a slot to it and put Thunderstrike in there instead so I could get some added recovery, too.

    Ill/Rad Build

With the Guide's help, I was able to make up a build for my character.

It'll be expensive as hell, but it'll be able to take on AVs and have PA, AM, Hasten and the PPP Pet perma.

    Comment, critique, or criticize, please.

    Need a new MM.

Could try Mercs/Therm, the -Res and damage buffs would help em out, plus Achilles' Heel: Chance for -Res Debuff
