    Noted, thanks for the clarification!
  9. Example:

I'm a VIP. I bought 20 characters slots on Vigilance. All of them are used (so 20+12=32 characters).
I decide to move to Premium. I have 20 slots to claim. I decide to claim them all on Freedom. I make 20 characters on the 20 slots that I just claimed on Freedom.
I decide to move back to VIP. Where are my bought slots? Still on Freedom? Back on Vigilance? Nowhere and I have to claim them? Such a process could be a way to move already claimed slots, and if that's WAI, I think there should be an easier way to do it.
  10. Slashdot summary:

    Quote:
"Researchers have developed a new method that can predict MMORPG player behavior. The tool could be used by the game industry to develop new game content, or to help steer players to the parts of a game they will enjoy most. I don't think it should replace user feedback, but it's a pretty cool data-driven approach. Ideally, it could help developers make good decisions about new games/expansions."
How would you feel about a such thing being used for the development of our beloved City of Heroes?
  11. That helps a lot actually. In the meantime, I managed to find a strange wiki that seemed to have a chart with all the values I was searching for. However, they are different from the ones you have, but I guess yours are right since this wiki obviously is outdated.

If you happen to have more charts with more enemies/levels, or anything related, you'd make my week (you already made my day!). I'm quite interested in "special cases" you described. If all this data can be found on City of Data, if you could just give me a hint on how to find it, that'd be very helpful too.

    Anyway, thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot! I couldn't have asked for something better (well... except maybe "how did you find them?")

That just leaves the question regarding enemies damage base.
  13. City of Data has a lot of... data, and my brain happens to love data.

But I'm having trouble finding things in there. The main page only links to ATs, but it seems that the website also contains data for pretty much every NPC of the game. Browsing the forum, I managed to find some links (Statesman for example), but if I don't know the "hard" faction name (here : V_FreedomPhalanx), I can't really find that page, can't I? Or maybe those "hard names" can be found somewhere, and then I can access related data on City of Data? Because I tried "guessing" several links, and failed every time.

That was the first question, and while I'm here, I'm gonna go and ask another one. On the previous link, we can see all Statesman powers. That's nice. Damage is expressed as a "PvE damage scale". I'm going to assume that the scale is relative to the rank of the NPC, but where do I find it? I know that for all ATs, it's in the "Attribute Modifiers" sections, but I can't seem to find it for NPCs. Is there something I'm missing?

    Thanks in advance.

Basically, people are assuming that because they got the uncommon reward table a few times in a row, there's something besides the random chance going on. Never mind that they got a rare component dropped during the trial, which I believe are on the same random chances as the end of trial reward.
Ok then, my bad. If the system I want is actually in game, and the last choice between all tables is purely random, I don't have any problem with the current system. Thanks a lot for the clarification Dechs and Fahx! Because I was really wrong with my understanding of the system.

From what I understood, there was one threshold for every component type, and depending on how high your participation was, you would qualify for one component type. Then, the reward is chosen randomly on a pool containing every reward that's under the threshold you qualified for.

For example, your participation is "medium", you qualify for Uncommon -> You have a chance to get threads, common or uncommon. Your participation is "excellent", you qualify for Very Rare -> You gave a chance to get threads, common, uncommon, rare, very rare.

If what I descibred is the current system, then the only problem I have is that it's not working, since some of my toons only get Rare+, and others only get Uncommon-.
  17. (It's not necro, it's only two weeks old!)

I have to say /signed too, but I understand the point risen by VoodooGirl. To that, I would simply suggest to keep one threshold (against... 5 currently?), that would be the "No I'm not leeching" threshold, i.e. the first one in the current system. It's the one that automatically gets you 10 threads. Maybe change it a little, I don't know, but keep one threshold just to avoid door sitters.

And if you're above that threshold, it's random for everybody. Once the system determined that "No, you're not leeching", you qualify for every reward.

I've also seen times where other players report the red spike lag, whereas it's smooth for me.

So it's seemingly not tied to the instance alone but to the individual connection? Would have to test more, but if restarting the client is enough to get rid of the lag for a particular instance, that could alleviate the problem.
Something that a lot a people seem to see (again, on the french board) is that even just changing instance can resolve that issue. For a while at least, but it seem that every time you load a new instance, there's like a 50/50 chance you'll have the issue. And if you have the issue while on a league/team, the larger the league is, the wider the red spikes are (but being "alone" in Pocket D in the middle of 50 other players is the same as being all alone). And if you're on a league, and on a mission, and having the issue, you'll crash most of the time (as far as I'm concerned, it's everytime).

This far I'm pretty lucky, I have this issue in Pocket D most of the time (which tend to make the "Start" button of trial disappear...), but not that much on trial. Like Nihili said, after you crash, it's back to normal (most of the time), so at least that's it.

And just for the fun, I /petitioned it, and after 2 days, they answered "Thanks for your suggestion".Yay for NC Support!
  19. Thanks for your answer. I didn't find any mention of a "Fraud department" at my bank (even though there's obviously one), and there isn't a single phone number on my credit card (since we're from different countries that doesn't surprise me). I asked my usual contact at the bank for more information about the Fraud department, how I could contact them, etc. I'm waiting for the answer.

I'll tell my friend about it too, but I guess it'll be way too late for him. And about PayPal, I tried it, but it doesn't work for the in-game store. It kept telling me "No credit card registered on your account", even though I linked it with my PayPal account.

I'll keep this topic updated with whatever information I manage to get, but I wanted to thank you for your help.
  20. A few days ago I started buying server transfers (with the sale going on). I bought 4 from Vigilance to Freedom. After those 4, I still wanted to buy some more, but every time I tried, I got an error saying that the payment was refused by my bank.

I was quite surprised about it, since neither my bank account nor my credit card were having the slighest problem. I called my bank, they told me "everything is perfectly fine with your account, and we didn't receive any billing request other than the 4 you mentionned". Ok, I contact the NC Soft support : "Definetly a problem with your bank, we don't know why but they didn't accept your payment.". Then my bank contacted again (without my asking) to confirm that they dug deeper in all their logs, and they didn't find ANY request made to my account after the first 4 purchases.

Feeling like speaking to a wall, I decided to borrow a credit card, buy my transfers (2 more) and done. Leave that behind me, it's probably just a bug in the matrix.

That was 4 days ago. Today, I saw a friend of mine and told him about the sale that was going on. Like me, he wanted to move toons from Vigilance to Freedom.

And guess what, after 3 transfers, he got the exact same problem as mine. We don't have the same bank, we aren't even from the same country! He didn't have the time to contact his bank yet (it happened a few minutes ago), but it looks a lot like what happened to me, which is still unexplained.

From the beginning, I trusted my bank more than NC Soft... because I actually talked to someone, who read to me all the things that happened on my bank account for the past week, who put me on the line with someone from I-don't-know-where but who seemed to know what he was talking about. But now that my friend has the exact same bug as I have, without any relation betwen our bank... I'm kinda asking NC Soft "So, what is it?"

Just to remind the circumstances : buying multiple server transfers from Vigilance to Freedom (for lvl 50 characters), in a small amount of time (like one per minute).

So, anyone else experienced it? Any way my friend can benefit from the sale with this bug?

PS : And I had the chance to find someone to help me buy lending me his credit card, but with the sale ending in less than two days, my friend is afraid he's going to miss it, because of a bug that's most likely on NC Soft side.

PPS : Like me, my friend contacted support and gave them my ticket ID to point out the fact that it's not an isolated incident, and that the bug is most likely on their side.
  21. French thread if you're interested. Usually, restarting the game, or even just zoning could resolve the issue. It doesn't work for everyone though (me for example).

We petitioned it, made a thread about it, asked Avatea about it, and all we got is "Check with your ISPs". Yeah, I guess every french ISP decided to add red spikes for half of their CoH players following 5/24 patch.
  22. The french board has a topic discussing this specific issue (that many french players seem to have), we gather some data, but no one at NC seems to care. As far as I'm concerned, I tried on different locations, different computers, diffrent ISPs, the result is always the same : red spikes, crashing on BAF.

So yeah, fix it. Please. Quickly. Pretty please.
