Very nice. What is left to do on the She-Hulk one?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The background mostly to separate the walls from the judge's bench and the witness stand. Then more lighting/highlighting and tweaking on Bayani and She-Hulk. The gavel needs to be colored in too. Usually, She-Hulk's portrayed with a brighter green but given how vivid Bayani's costume is, Sorah chose to dial down She-Hulk's green so they wouldn't clash and result in Bayani looking pink rather than red.

I think I'm ready to reconcile my hatred for Dark Armor.

Is that going to be on the next episode of Dr. Phil?
  4. Got quite a few things in the works at the moment. Just thought I'd share a sneak peek or two into the stuff I've been collaborating with artists on.

Planet Girl Space Pin-Up by Yvel Guichet (Foreshortening fixed, Inks finished, colors pending)

Contempt of Court by Guichet/Rubenstein, Colors WIP by Sorah (Unfinished)

Bayani's MA Storyarc Cover by Dave Hamann (Pencils finished, Colors pending)

Ok, I thought I was losing my mind. Your name wasn't on the other thread, which is why you weren't paired off. But I'll pair you up with VexXxa.

I'm sorry you're having this bad experience with the reception of the design. But this sort of thing happens in art and design quite a bit, where your intentions have a disconnect with how the audience perceives the work.

In a way, the design is a very bold, solid classic superhero design. The main problem, if you want to call it that, is the plus shaped block of color on the chest. It gives a very feminine look to the neck and shoulder area, especially when the shot is a cropped close-up.

The mixture of an overtly feminine, or simply overly refined element, plus the over-the-top use of bold colors and symbols, pushes the design towards camp which is synonomous with "gayness" for a lot of people. His shaggy hair and intense expression exaggerate this reading.

If you changed the chest pattern or gave him some kind of shoulder pad or something, I think you'd lose a lot of the camp vibe people are picking up on. BTW, I personally don't think the character looks gay, because the gay friends I have would have looks like batman or wolverine or something. But it does look campy to me for the reasons I've laid out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

See, this is the type of stuff I'd like to see more of. It's stuff like this that makes more "educated" collectors and better artists.

Not that this is a critisism or anything but he looks like he plays for the same side if ya know what i mean....

    Like the concept though

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was going to let this go, but I don't feel right doing that.
TA, and everyone that tended to snicker at his comment, how would you have responded if I told you he WAS gay? Or, that I was gay? I'd expect the art community to be a lot more tolerant and a bit less "juvenile".

Listen, I've been a member of this art community for a few years now. This is the FIRST time I feel a bit disappointed by the behavior displayed in a thread. It's an alienating feel thinking I may be the ONLY one finding comments criticising a character's appearance for looking "gay" a bit distasteful.

If I'm the only one finding a problem with that, then I'll bid my farewell now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wasn't being critical in my post. Nor do i have a problem with the character being gay or even with you being gay. I have a ton of friends that are gay. The closest friend i have in this world is in fact gay.

Seriously there is no tolerance needed. I don't "tolerate" or "put up" with it. It's just a part of everyday life for me. It's accepted. I was just going by your description on DA and the character concept. Didn't seem to match up. The snickering was because in your post it kinda went right over your head and you said "plows" lmao!

Ease up there Majesty, just having a good laugh. In fact i thought from that post that you were playing along.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well to be fair, TA, your comment came out of left field and was a bit unwarranted. While folks don't need "permission" to voice an opinion, I honestly don't quite see how anyone could not have taken that sort of frank statement as a slight.

While I personally would like to see real, honest constructive feedback/critique on art or character designs on these forums and on deviantArt, I don't think commenting about the sexual preferences of a character was something to note publically. Glass houses, etc. Though it might be entertaining to see people telling each other what they really think of each other's characters and galleries, I don't think it'd be a good idea to call Moderator 8's attention over.
  13. Sorry about that, I had Torroes on the list twice.

  15. Ladies & Gentlemen. And Foo. Welcome to the Inaugural Slurpie Machine Edition of Picture This, the forum game where you get to re-imagine a fellow player’s character! I’m hoping this becomes a monthly thing with new twists and themes. Here’s how it works.

    1) Prepare 1-3 Screenshots of your character and a short biography of your character.

    2) Exchange these screenshots and description with the player you have been matched up with. Let’s try to keep this thread clear; exchange information through PMs.

    3) “Reimagine” your buddy’s character. As Suichiro put it, you’ll be creating an alternate/ultimate/re-launched version of your partner’s character. Your final creation should be recognizable as the original character.

    4) Post the original reference shots and the screenshots of your creation one this thread along with a concise biography. Feel free to include commentary too about your process.

Oh...well, if that's the case, then I'm going to bow out because I don't have anything unlocked in MA. I was just going to create level 1s with all their limitations.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can create a level 1 character. No one's stopping you from doing it. But I'm going to use MA myself. In the long run it doesn't make a difference.
  17. I think it'd be better/easier if we used Mission Architect to create and post our results. The reason being that if we were to create a level 1 character, we wouldn't have access to capes/auras and other goodies. But if folks used MA, they'd potentially have access to everything they could need/want.
  18. Yeah, come join the fun Wassy. It's not a contest. Think of it as an exercise in altitis.
  19. Hehe. I was thinking of just engineering a three way trade. This sort of game could become a regular thing.

I suppose now would be a good time to discuss how much information should be exchanged. I think there needs to be a central core or idea that can't be altered in anyway. The end character should be identifiable as a "reboot" of the original idea. Thoughts?
  20. I'll have to doublecheck my 00ber spreadsheet when I get home, but so far we've got 25...25 players! muahahahahaha

    *lightning crashes in the background*

Deadline for entry will be 9pm ET on Wednesday the 13th. I'll post another thread with all the names and match-ups Thursday morning, and it'll be up to the matched participants to work out character exchanges privately.
  21. You super-strength/invulns and your capes!

    *adjusts his jacket and hmmphs*
  22. I think it'd depend on the hair color. Orange/White could be fun to work with.
  23. That's pretty straight forward and easy to do. Bikini/shorts for the bottom. Top with skin. Small mask. Full sleeves. boots.
