Hubba hubba. I like this channel...
  2. I think Rowr does something like that (calendar). Or at least has done it twice now. McKinney was the artist for both of them.
  3. A couple of artists I've been watching over at dA are currently offering free sketches with every pre-order of their respective sketchbooks, which are due to ship after June 1st. It's a pretty good deal imo, so check out and contact LostonWallace and ThinCage if you're interested. There are some samples on their sites to give you an idea of what to expect too.

  4. *swings in at a break period in his day* wheee.

Man and I thought my day was stressful :O

Pogo, just let it out. Perhaps making a silly MA Arc where you beat them up will make ya feel better? They can be villains we all must capture!

Viv, car accidents suck. Me and Playskool were in one with my wife about 2 years ago. My poor car...I still miss Belvedear!

1 more hour to go till freedom from work. I think I am gonna start doing more non "video game" game reviews. Maybe about Board Games and Card Games and Table Top / Minis

This is of course for my website, which none of YOU know about... possibly :P

Oooooh if there was only a convenient link in that dude's signature...wait a minute...

  7. Nice work, Suichiro and everyone else so far. I'll try to get Mariner's done tonight. Still batting a few ideas in my head. I think we'll definitely do this again next month, with the same idea, but the theme being Golden Age interpretations. Then the Rob Liefeld inspired interpretations. Kidding about that last one.
  8. His work may very well be in a DC book but just credited to Benes. That's been the case for Deodato's stuff as well. Benes/Deodato would have studio artists/apprentices do the background/sketch lines, but then Benes/Deodato would take the framework and fill in the details, stylizing the entire page and making it their own. Nice piece though with clean details. The one thing I notice though about all the folks who work in the Benes' studios is that the figures don't seem to have a whole lot of life/flow n their poses and I feel that the emotion/personality/expressions doesn't get seen as much.
  9. *yawns and flumps in a chair to relax on a short break* sup folks?
  10. I think it's evolved into epic levels. A Marvel "No-Prize" is a pretty high factor, but basically a "homage" to your MMO character beats that.
  11. Welcome to the club, Heroid!

    *hands Heroid a badge*
  12. *flumps* whew. long first day at my new job.
  13. *relaxes on the couch with a magazine and a cup of coffee*

    Scion of Zeus!!!

Well I wouldn't necessarily say that Majesty's character was just "asking" for it. I mean, the atmosphere of these forums is such that while some posted art is just "asking" for some critique, few if any people will say anything other than "nice" or "awesome" so it's really difficult to get any sort of discussion going over a particular piece. I think this sort of fear goes back to Jomaro's testy reaction when Sayterra critiqued his painted colors on Halley's Comet piece a few years back and did a few mods to explain and show how a particular technique would make the piece pop more.

Given that criticism (even constructive criticism) is self-suppressed out of fear of offending artists/owners and causing a flaming ruckus of poop-flinging that you see in other sections of the forums, I don't quite see how it's just asking for it. I mean there are plenty of designs that've come across these boards but few if any folks ever make questionable comments, let alone any sort of real helpful feedback. True, maybe the OP could've explained his thoughts behind the design and what he was shooting for, but until there's a movement/effort that somehow encourages more than just one word commentary so that maybe statements like TA's *don't* look out of the norm then I dunno. I personally don't comment a whole lot on other people's collections/commissions because they more often than not don't care to hear about that sort of thing. I think that mindset is unfortunate, because this hobby is frakkin' expensive and in tight times like these, I'd like to see people getting their money's worth and amateur artists who don't charge more for their work than professionals do. Hell, I remember someone threatened to kick my @$$ for teasing his girlfriend over a pretty trivial comment that was less innocuous than TA's on dA. But yeah, I don't think Majesty was over-reacting and really looking back over the whole thing there was nearly as much drama over the whole matter. Heck, the fact that it was resolved so neatly kinda shows how much better this section of the forums is at handling confrontation than other sections do. *shrugs*
