  1. Put on some hipwaders and get a move on!

  2. Rather than be late with Wassy Wednesdays, Wassy's submitting the special Secret Invasion bust commission for Storm Vyxen as her weekly entry. It came out pretty awesome. Special thanks go out to Storm Vyxen for donating to the Inkwell Awards!

There's one more of these issues left in Wassy's hands. If you're interested in a special bust commission of your character on a limited edition variant issue of Secret Invasion #1, contact kris@wassyart.com.

  3. Sorta an "epilogue" piece to the Rogues Gallery series I had been working on. Here's a double-page splash of a rooftop throwdown between Clockwork Cadaver, Crey, Bayani and his allies.

  5. Heh, well there you go. No one else had made a request so looks like CR's request is up.
  6. Wassy's taking any requests. It just so happens though that most people haven't been requesting CoH stuff or stuff of their own characters, which is kinda cool.

Requests can be submitted here or on the group. You don't have to join the group but people who watch the group will get preferential treatment in terms of seeing their requests fulfilled.

  7. Vrykon's weekly offering (while he's on vacation) is Caitlin Fairchild of Gen13.
  8. Can't wait to see this one colored! Thanks for the request, Assisace!
  9. Two new submissions by Swanzy, a Sunday submission and a WIP over Randy Green's lines.

  10. Here's Vrykon's first weekly submission, a quite sketch of his own CoH character, Chorus Line. "One singular sensation, every little step she take..."

Stay tuned for Eddy's colors over Wassy's Red Sonja piece on Sunday. The next Wassy Wednesday request goes out to Assisace who has requested IG-88 from Star Wars! (Enjoy, Wassy. )

    That's pretty creepy.
  12. Shame on Crooner. He's old enough to be her grandfather.

Coming in just under the Eastern Time zone gun is the first Wassy Wednesday sketch is up, inspired by StormVyxen's request of a sword-wielding chick taunting her opponent. The solution? Red Sonja. Be sure to check back in on Friday for Vrykon's first weekly submission, and Sunday for Swanzy's colors over Red Sonja.

Oooh. Good idea. Thanks Assisace. Heya, Wassy, let's give Assisace next week's Division-401 request.

  15. Another current WIP by Wassy, featuring Lounge Crooner, Mae-Day, and Bayani.
  16. It's a school not for the faint of heart. Dangerous animals and women abound. And people with funny accents.
  17. You can submit the request here. Or put it on the front page. or on the group blog. We'll look it over on Tuesdays and make a decision by then.

Captain America was encased in ice and lost for over 40 years before he was recovered and revived by the Avengers. So while he's over 80 years old (and coupled with the fact that comic book time lines are different), he was in suspended animation, so he wasn't really aging.
  19. It was a typo! There's a strikethrough on the "y".

But yeah, I wrote all the blurbs. Really had fun with those.

So this is a rather interesting challenge because the overall desired direction was to go "darker take or more mature." The original costume is black, red, and yellow which, is pretty dark. Contrasting that is Bobby's desire to move in a completely new direction in terms of color schemes. The background is "super soldier experiment on an elderly woman, gone wrong." I imagine that Bobby doesn't want a deformed Deadpool-esque like look to woman of Amazonian stature. Another pair of conflicting details making this difficult is "classic, sexy stylish" but no spandex. And we've got a name..."Judgment". Based on the background, we're probably discussing a woman who was a young adult in WWII so the name and the persona sounds very conservative...and probably not likely to be sexy.

Overall, I think a "greatest generation" member called Judgment would have a courageous, but no-nonsense air about her. The look should be rather practical. I don't think the super-soldier experiments would revert her to her prime, so I went with a greyish silver mane to give her a mature look. The attractive feature for this character will be the Amazonian curves. The outfit is form fitting. Not baggy because that would make her tomboyish but not tight because it wouldn't suit the character's personality. The hair is tied up. Scales as a chest emblem to signify her name. The flame patterns to suggest her powers. Also, I went with a blindfold, though I wish there was an option without chains. I chose to go with the blindfold as a nod to the concept that justice is blind...that it should be delivered objectively. This ties in to the darker more gritty and serious tone to the darker edge Bobby's looking for.
  21. Nice, sketch, Mouse!

David's thread sorta fell off the map but it's right here...

He adopted a GR character "Noble Savage" as his new forum identity.

  22. For the past several weeks, Wassy, Vrykon, Eddy Swan, Frost, Planet Girl, Gong and I have been working quietly on a new dA Group and it's ready to kick off. Check it out at http://division-401.deviantart.com/

The group will be a central place for the art and stories featuring the characters of the Division-401 team. It will also showcase the art of Wassy, Vrykon, Eddy Swan. The featured artists will be sharing current WIPs and posting their latest projects. They have also agreed to update with group with exclusive weekly content as well as collaborations.

Each Wednesday, Wassy will be select a request from group's watchers and sketch it as a warm-up. Swanzy will follow up with that sketch and color it on a weekly basis as well. I have no idea what Vrykon's got cooked up but I'm confident it'll be alot of fun. Wassy's first request will go out to StormVyxen, who stumbled across the page while it was under construction and became the group's first watcher.

In conjunction with the group's launch, Wassy is offering a special color marker bust commission even though her current queue is closed. The bust is the collector's choice and will be drawn on a rare copy of Secret Invasion #1 Variant Edition.

We only have one copy of this book left right now. All proceeds from the sale of this particular commission will go to the Inkwell Awards, a charity foundation dedicated to promoting and educating about the craft of inking as well as showing recognition for ink artists. Price and details are posted at the Division-401 group page.

Eddy's kicked the group off with a small school project he's been working on...

I think that's it for now. Have a good weekend everyone!
